YoloMouse - Cursor Changer news & patch notes

This one is mostly performance, polish, and fixes. Some new items include mouse sensitivity control and cursor upscaler control to allow retaining pixel art style 👾 Some reported cursors sometimes disappearing when ALT TABing for certain anticheat games. I couldn't reproduce this but made a few tweaks that may fix the issue. If you still see this happening (or a placeholder cursor showing), please let me know if you were using any non-default settings (like passive mode), how often the problem occurs, which game, and if it clears up from ALT TABing again or by other means.

The major update is Linux Proton support. There's some limitations due to various Proton restrictions like the game having to be Windows based. So consider this an interum version before full native Linux support 😎 To use start YoloMouse from Steam then a Proton/Steam game. If you see a pink arrow in taskbar then all is good and the usual YM flow should work 😊 The rest is a load of QoL, performance buffs, and fixes.

The major update here are VFX trails which took a good bit of effort to get the desired quality. You can find these under effects. Kudos to Frogski, the Plasma trail is inspired by his WoW mod 🍻 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37457707/ebeeb1fccf882fc0219ccbd21f3ae018f3c9d16d.png Otherwise added a formal multi-color version of that store page pointer cursor, and a language selector on the main menu. The rest is polish and some key fixes like Riot game support. For next update, after many asks and MS being MS 😉, Linux Proton support will be a priority.

This address some critical issues, in particular not working directly with League and cursor quality problems when windows pointer scaling is used. Also a fix for the UI being misaligned due to certain windows DPI settings. Snuck a glow polish in too 😁

This is a small one that includes mostly fixes to address recent feedback. Getting this out before the next large update focusing on streaks/trails and more. We also updated our Steam art to address many people thinking YoloMouse is some low budget game 😂

This involves a major rewrite and simplification of the core injection system which should clear up alot of edge case bugs and performance issues in various games. Then gave glow some color, made it generate faster, and available to regular cursors. For those who want to reuse existing game cursors in other games, try the edit button in Cursor tab while the original game cursor is selected 😎 This update was getting a bit large, so any promised requests have been noted in the TODO section and are priority for next update ❤️

Presets are a much requested feature that lets you quickly assigned pre-assigned cursors to a specific game or app. Applying a preset will automatically download any missing cursors. 2 initial presets and related cursors are included for app:Windows. Expect many more in the near future from the community (discover tab). Also a glow option to make existing game cursors more visible :) Otherwise new languages and a long list of QoL, performance, and fixes. v1.16.3 A small followup mainly to hotfix "sync with steam" resetting all settings.

This one took a whole bit of effort for just one new cursor, a noodle, it jiggles! :D The rendering, physics, and scripting added to support this practically makes YM a small game engine now. This opens up alot more possibilities for future cursors. Dont worry, these features are only used when needed so they wont affect other cursors. This is also the peak of the most complex efforts that were on the TODO list. I wanted to call this a 2.0 but I'd like to make such cursors open to community editing and publishing first. Remaining items are AltGR key support and fixes based on your valuable feedback :)

Added a nifty new zoom effect to let you magnify whatever you're hovering. Note that it may lag sometimes, just click around to fix. I'm investigating a proper fix. The rest are various fixes from feedback.

The overlay is a key component used when cursors can't be drawn directly through the game. This has has been updated to use the latest Win10 and 11 updates which should improve performance and reduce blackscreens. Overlay VSync and FPS limiters have been added. Raise FPS limit to reduce overlay lag. Lower FPS limit to improve interop with Lossless Scaling. Then some XBRZ upscaler improvements and other fixes. UPDATES

This one adds several workshop features including sorting, filtering, search, and ratings. Added default cursor options like resizing all unbound game cursors. Then the larger update, that will go unnoticed, was support for scripted cursors. So far only the existing Pyro, Prism, Petals were ported over so not much to see. But next update the full capabilities here are planned :) Also snuck in an XBRZ upscaler for existing game cursors :D Otherwise some QoL changes and various fixes. A few I couldn't get to in time however...

• Theres some issues while using Lossless Scaling thats more complicated than expected.
• Investigated HDR cursor brightness problem. Unfortunatelly this isnt an easy fix since its a Windows bug with no known workarounds. The only way around this in YoloMouse is to show the cursor via an overlay which can be done by enabling "settings > compliance > passive" but that has its own downsides.

Added color and sizing options to effects. The collection tab now recalls your last configured app, instead of showing that intro message every time. Then some fixes that may be significant for some folks. One involved the latest AMD driver update triggering HDR thinking YM is a game. Gamepass games should now work. And finally that stuck keys one which still persisted based on a few reports. It should now behave like it did before version 1.9. Why fix what worked ;) UPDATES

The Effects feature adds a visual enhancement to your existing cursor. The initial effects are Scope and Halo. These currently lack settings like size and color which will be added next update. Effects are also the first to use LUA scripting, the future of how YM's complex/overlay cursors will be made. This may take a few more updates to mature, but once ready Editor and Workshop support will be added. Additionally anticheat compliance options have been added, primarily to satisfy reports involving "The Finals" and Roblox. The "Stealth" option is meant to avoid a false blacklist by "The Finals". The "Passive" option makes YM fully non-intrusive and only behave as an overlay (except in Windows mode). This allows it to work with Roblox. Both options may apply to other current/future games. And finally fixed the stuck hotkeys issue due to a Windows bug that Microsoft likely will never fix lol. Fortunately the alternative works perfectly :) Updated TODO list... UPDATES

Another small update to address issues... These came up as I was working on cursor effects which I thought was a great time to update the rendering engine in order to support scripted effects and cursors. So I got that part done and as a side effect it improved perfmance, yay! :) Otherwise these fixes are fairly urgent so I had to push them out before features, especially the stuck input triggering unwanted hotkeys. The startup UX was also tweaked since too many people were accidentally changing their windows cursors when they didn't mean to. The HDR gamma issue appears to be an unsolved Windows bug so its a little more complex but I have a plan on how to get around it. For now you may find that sizing up your cursor will work better than when its smaller. UPDATES

This is a followup update with a few new features and some hotfixes for last update. The mirror option (flip cursor) has been requested for a while and finally here. This should work with all cursors except the 3D ones which will supported in a future update. Expert mode is to disable some noob features that some found annoying, like tooltips and the YM UI starting on launch. Safemode forces YM to go full CPU mode (no GPU). This is mainly to fix issues on some systems. Note that any cursors that would have used the GPU will be quite laggy. Otherwise several important fixes, especially with hotkeys and the create tab. Some TODO items were pushed to next update due to the urgency of hotfixes in this update. UPDATES

This is a fairly big one thats been in the works for a while. It pulls in from our crosshair app YoloX which includes a new UI thats now consolidated including cursor picker, editor, and settings and adds various usability buffs. Its possible some unreproducible issues like blackscreen reports were also fixed as related areas involved partial rewrites. Hopefully new bugs werent added ;) Expect more frequent updates now as this huge update laid the groundwork for faster iteration and new features. The TODO list below is directly from feedback and should be ready in about a week in case you were expecting these in this one. But I'd rather let this large update live on its own for a few days ;) Btw, if you find the tooltips annoying let me know and I'll add an option to disable them. UPDATES

This one took a while but thanks to user feedback I finally reproduced and therefore was able to fix it. This should also fix rare instances of lingering blackscreen as a result of the low memory condition. Huge apologies to those affected by this one <3 UPDATES

Apologies this one took longer than it did. I was in the middle of an engine swap where the new engine happened to also be the fix for this and a long list of other issues... Then the NVidia update dropped which broke YM for a lot of folks and turned this into a top priority hotfix. This solves blackscreen for both the NVidia update and AMD GPUs. FYI: The engine is used in an overlay to show 3D cursors but also all cursors with anticheat protected games. The new engine is custom, lightweight, and paves the way toward scripted cursors :) Note: The pixelfire 3D cursor was temporarily removed to get this out sooner. If you miss it plz let me know so I can bump priority. UPDATES

Stabilizing... This small update focuses heavily on stability before moving back to features. Most of this involved simplifying and heavily retesting the injection component - the part that tricks a game into using your cursor. Also by popular request some of the basic cursors were given a more pixel perfect remaster :) NOTE: If you have issues updating, the previous YM may still be lingering so please reboot first. One of the fixes avoids the need for this in the future. UPDATES

Finally an update! xD Had hoped I left YM in perfect shape while I went off to work on another project, but alas software can never be perfect. These are items that crept up over time... One in particular is based on reported issues I couldn't reproduce. But I knew these must be related to the hooking system (where YM jumps into a game and tweaks its cursor). So I ended up rewriting the whole thing to fix a lot of performance and stability issues. One caveat is you may be nagged with an admin popup for old 32bit games that run as admin - like DAOC. The other important update finally fixes the wierd input issues some may have noticed in certain anticheat protected games like Lost Ark. Also some new cursors! :) Btw, that project I mentioned is a new crosshair app called YoloX. It uses much of YM's tech and some improvements of its own that I rolled back into YM. UPDATES

Hotfix! A fast needed set of fixes for issues found in the last update. The biggest fix was removal of the UAC popup which wasn't intended to trigger so often, caused other side effects, and was really just meant for one game: Everquest 1 ;) The fix also added back an old "Run as Admin" option to taskbar menu. This is only needed for rare cases (like Everquest). Thanks for all your feedback which greatly helped in squishing these bugs :) UPDATES

Biggest update ever that no one will notice (yet) :D A new overlay has arrived that wields the power of a full game engine!: https://godotengine.org/ . Now anything will be possible as far as possibilities go for a cursor ;) An editor and workshop publishing support has also been added. But all that time was spent integrating this and no time to make anything to show it off :( But thats ok, this is the last major feature for YM on the list. Remaining updates will focus on content, fixes, performance, and remaining minor features. So just the basic 3D cursors (prism, petals) have been ported over for now. Pyro has been removed and replaced with a similar PixelFire cursor. If anyone misses Pyro let me know and it'll find its way back in some form :) For those concerned about bloat. This update actually debloats YM by separating out the overlay which will only be loaded upon use. You should otherwise see better performance and memory use. Also several small updates and fixes...

• The old overlay still exists but is now simplified for anticheat purposes only and will only be used if the new one isnt needed.
• For those seeing wierd input issues in anticheat games like Lost Ark and Albion, this has a fix but requires those games to be run as admin. Looking into avoiding this restriction next update.

Another big one :D After much research into bypassing anticheat protected games a very clean and safe (not bannable) method has been discovered. This allows YM to function with anticheat protected games like Lost Ark almost identically to unprotected games. Additional related improvements have been added like overlay cursor support in dedicated fullscreen. Also a long overdue tutorial :D This is the first step to making YM fully self documented. VSYNC is now enabled for the overlay cursors. I'm not sure why I had this off, but it should buff performance a little. Finally an announcement of a major upcoming feature: Godot game engine integration. This will unleash YM's true potential with fully moddable 3D cursors :) UPDATES

Time for a big one! :) Steam workshop support has arrived! This is the final piece to all the modding/editor support added lately. Since its a major feature, please consider it a beta for the next few updates. Some things are still sorely missing like documentation which is coming ASAP. In the mean time please experiment with the editor and workshop. Both ready-to-use and curated support has been enabled. To kickstart the workshop I added an initial "null blade" cursor :) Otherwise various minor updates and a few fixes were added. Most importantly a fix to everyone's favorite inverted cursors. I may also have fixed an issue where some folks couldn't see certain included or custom cursors. There's also a small EULA update where any free workshop item contributions may be stored for use with the non-steam version of YoloMouse. UPDATES
