Today's patch is a simple one, consisting mostly of bug fixes and quality of life improvements, which we've listed below. However, there is one major change we wanted to highlight:
We're removing the gemstone tax from trading.
We realized the gemstone tax was trying to preemptively solve a problem we didn't have yet. Initially, the gemstone tax on trading was created to act as a deterrent to bot accounts, which we feared would farm up cards with dust and then sell to players. However, the gemstone tax really put a damper on players' excitement to trade cards, something we were excited to offer in Wyldernook. In an emergency, we could re-enable the gemstone tax if bots got out of hand, but it's unclear if that's even the correct deterrent for bots at this time. We're happy to hear suggestions for solutions in the future that address bot concerns, without adversely affecting players.
Changes
The gemstone tax on trading has been removed.
We've added timestamps to Global Chat. No more guessing how old the last message is!
Fixes
Fixed the store text for the Premium Booster Packs which erroneously said they had a lower chance of containing an Epic card.
Fixed many issues with Overcharge cards and undoing and/or cancelling targeting, where the wrong resources would be refunded or the card's cost would be changed.
Fixed an issue with Lure of the Blue Roses where you could bypass sacrificing allies if you drew a card and then pressed Undo.
You can no longer sacrifice the same card twice to Lure of the Blue Roses.
Erase from History can no longer erase "Campaign Rule" cards, which are intended to exist in play only as an easy way to inform players of the rules of the scenario.
Fixed an issue where some ongoing effects would persist into the next game if you left a game via the "Leave Game" button when testing custom cards, or using the /playlocaltest command.
Fixed an issue with The End where "end of turn" damage could happen after Sudden Death was triggered, causing a win on the spot.
Fixed an issue with Jappi where she'd consider every card in a CPU player's deck to be a created in-game.
Swap Fate now checks legality of the swap when the death effect happens, rather than during targeting. This allows Swap Fate to target cards like Dawnbound Dream, when it would previously fail.
Fixed an issue where Swap Fate wouldn't work if you targeted an ally to die, despite the wording of the card.
Swap Fates has been a particularly buggy card, and now that many of its bugs are being addressed, it's looking like a very strong card. Our eye is on it for balances, it does a lot for just 1 cost, but for now this patch is focused on bugfixes, not balancing. Our patch on August 4th will be where we make any adjustments for balance, and also when new Human cards will be releasing, shaking up the meta even more.
Fixed many instances of the game view not accurately representing a character's power/health change if they were hidden information when the change happened (for instance, a non-champion Brixa in hand).
Fixed an issue that was not updating a friend's online/busy status when they left a game, so that they'd appear constantly as if they were in a game.
CPU opponents should now be smarter about putting Scout allies in the back of the Attack Zone to get their triggers.
Reclamation Grenn now reveals what cards it's taken, consistent with other effects of its type.
Roars-the-Challenge now clarifies that the cards to defend are chosen at random.
Rafaella Blackmark's text now says that she "summons" the additional rituals, rather than "plays", which was inaccurate. (For instance, "plays" suggests the card could be countered with Not Today).
Fixed a typo in Reclamation Grenn's name.
Fixed a typo in Roars-the-Challenge's text box.
Hotfixes
To address some issues that came up in the main patch, this updated minor patch had the following fixes:
Fixed an issue that let players queue for matched games with custom cards.
Fixed an issue where an account that had zero gemstones couldn't complete the trade flow.
Updated the server exception error message to not sound so dire.
Fixed "Waiting for Server" appearing when looting a card in-game.
Fixed an issue where Salad Squire would appear as a 0/0.
