Hello SectorLords,
I will be releasing patch towards the end of the week incorporating a number of minor and major bugfixes and more importantly, more gameplay features that tie more of the game together in a complete interlocking system of systems.
What's Under the Hood?
In Warp to Sector One, the gameplay loop is simple, fight trade and explore, but what happens underneath because of it, is not. All of your actions in the game carry consequences, both for yourself and the galaxy at large and vice versa. Destroying lots of pirates and improving relations with various factions can have a positive effect on the economy, or ignoring pirates and ruthlessly draining ports of their goods without balance can tank it. Go on a crusade to wipe out as many pirates as you can, and they may just band together to try and stop you. Help out a particular faction too much and they might just take all that newfound support and act more aggressively towards a rival. The galaxy remembers your actions.
What's being introduced this upcoming patch?
First off, as previously previewed, the Federation Capital Planet will be landable, but it won't be interactive until the next patch as there is alot of game-changing content behind it.
More Combat Balancing as higher tier player ships made fights trivially easy but at the same time made fleet fights a losing proposition. This was due to scaling not inline with higher tier ships. This has been rebalanced somewhat with Fleet fights slightly more winnable with fewer irreplaceable Dreadnought losses and slightly more difficult tactical fights and some stat tweaks.
Some stat tweaks to some colony upgrades as some unintended gameplay styles that are a little OP have emerged.
Guild Bank is introduced with the ability to securely store credits (0% interest rate) as a hedge against credit-draining events (Towing, Incidents etc etc), and invest in the stock market, which as mention, is affected by Galactic Events that you participate in and can influence.
Some more combat orientated events now appear (not giving away the trigger conditions) but you can now maybe expect a Pirate Station to spawn in a distant sector that will repeatedly spawn squadrons of roaming Pirate Ships that will target you, your Captains and your Colonies.
See you in Sector One!
Hello SectorLords! Just giving you a preview as to what will be available in the game shortly as stated in the post EA roadmap.
First up, the Federation Capital. Accessed via the LAND command, the Federation Capital contains The University of the Federation, Federation HQ, Galactic News Archive and Citadel Construction Yard.
Now what do each of these do?
Well the University ties into the Anomaly gameplay mechanic in the game and is used to research the secrets of the Precursors and its' endgame (technically a 2nd endgame if you finish your career and continue on in endless mode). No spoilers!
Federation HQ is where you can petition the Federation for recognition of your colonies as an independent entity if you wish, volunteer for peacekeeping duties for the Federation, or request an audience with the council. Again, no spoilers!
Galactic News is where you can view past issues of the Galactic News Bulletin
Citadel Construction Yard is where you design your mobile starbase (again, no spoilers as to what can be designed on it), pay the contract fee and drop off requested materials for the construction of the base.
Hoping to have this along with the Guild Bank and Linux/Steam Deck compatibility done for 1st week of August. Stay tuned for a detailed post on how the mechanics of everything work underneath the easy-to-play gameplay loop!
Minor bugfix and JP translation fix. Demo updated to latest build.
Hello SectorLords!
I have rolled out into a private test branch, a build of the game that includes a bundled webview2 bundle. This can be accessed by right-click the game in your steam library, selecting Properties, then Game Versions & Betas and inputting in the following code:
If this version tests well then it will be rolled into production in a dedicated depot. Please leave feedback if it is working in the pinned thread or on discord!
Thank you!
Combat Upgrade: The original combat system with the Threat/Counter Hint was originally intended just for the tutorial and lowest tier Raiders in the game so players could learn the mechanics. The intended combat system is introduced in this patch, the telegraph (red bar at the top) will still show the anticipated enemy threat and now shows both the effect of that threat and suggested counter in the tutorial scenario, but will only show the effect of the enemy threat in standard games. It is up to players to decide how they want to counter the intended threat with combinations of stances, fighters, util and heat all of which now show their own effects at the bottom of the window. The result of their choice is shown in the Combat Log as a FULL/PARTIAL/FAIL counter message. Repair and Overload now have a limited number of uses per combat, and are restocked automatically. Higher Tier enemies will now also produce 2-3 threats every couple rounds, so you can make the tactical choice of blocking between all or none depending on your playstyle. Timer has increased to 25 seconds to account for additional text reading or you can always disable the Timer completely.
New Saves are not required, though any existing Pirate Sector spawns will not have the new ship types, Pirate Sector respawns will draw from a pool that does.
3 New Pirate Types are introduced, the ECM Skiff which favors targeting your weapons and has powerful counters to reduce your damage output. A flak cruiser that makes fighter attacks against it extra risky, and a Pirate Carrier with a formidable fighter wing.
F12 Steam Screenshot functionality added in via API. You'll hear the screenshot sound as normal and the commlog will display a confirmation message. Access your screenshots via your steam game page as normal! Now everyone start showing off your ship and CRT setups!
Additional translation work/corrections in Japanese.
Chapter 1 of Dark Deal, a novella that the games' narrative is based on is available in the Guide in the Codex, all the way from 2008.
Hello SectorLords! A heartfelt thank you to all of you who purchased and stuck with the game this launch week. It is greatly appreciated and I'm glad so many of you are enjoying the game. A patch is being deployed today to address the following issues (fortunately none are game breaking, just annoying.):
- Autopilot Issue - AP will now automatically resume after sector/colony incidents. Galactic News requires hitting AP again to continue route as initially designed, though this may change based on player feedback.
- Starport lockout after colony loss corrected. Unique upgrade flag is now properly cleared on colony loss.
- Broken loop routes using ROUTE command fixed.
- FERRY loop now runs non-stop without player intervention. This may change with a notification message or alert, as the original intention was to make players periodically visit the planets to make sure they were doing what they were ordered to do.
- Game should now launch with dedicated GPU affinity for users with dedicated/integrated GPU laptops.
Look forward to more bugfixes and more importantly, feature changes/balancing/additions over the coming weeks, and major content releases monthly!
If you have played more than 30 minutes, please take 10 seconds to leave a quick, honest review. Small indie games live or die by their review counts, and hitting 50 reviews unlocks Steam's main visibility engine. Thank you again! See you at the Starbase in Sector One!
Hotfix for Day 1 EA Release:
Japanese Language Selection now stays select on game restart.
LOAD colonists has been changed to LOAD/UNLOAD. Hit right-click to Unload colonists at Starbase at a 50% refund. Left-click now brings up former right-click Enter Quantity window
BUY fighters button at the starbase now buys MAX fighters with left-click. Right-click still brings up quantity window.
MAP tab now has a button labelled Intel. Intel panel will display all HAIL intel reports with a turn counter to indicate age of the report and will automatically age-out after 40 turns.
Hello SectorLords! Early Access is now here!
If you ever dialed into a BBS after school and lost your evenings to Trade Wars 2002, and thought the wireframe graphics and text in '80s sci-fi computer screens was cool, then this game was built for you. And if you never did, this is your chance to find out what all the modem noise was about! A galaxy of sectors, ports, factions, and terrible decisions, played through a CRT filter that will make your eyes go blurry.
I hope I have included enough features and a complete gameplay experience that's relatively bug-free to keep you entertained and glued to the screen for hours so you can get in just one more trade. Thank you to all who played the demo and provided valuable feedback which helped drive ALOT of changes that made it into the EA release.
There's just so many features and gameplay mechanics that it would take awhile to list them all, some super apparent, some not so much and can only be discovered by exploration or gameplay that will seem emergent. What's important is that the game can be played from start-to-finish with 2 of the 5 planned careers and can be played beyond in endless mode. The game is fully playable in English and Japanese.
So what's on the Roadmap for Post-Early Access leading upto 1.0??? Plenty!
Linux/Steam Deck support
Playbalancing Changes
French/German/Russian Localization
My novella "Dark Deal" in the codex, actually it started out as a fanfic I wrote for the Wing Commander Community back in 2015 when that was a thing, but took on a life of its' own.
More Varied Pirate Enemies and a Pirate Station... if you thought the Pirate King was tough...
More Deepscan Discoveries around the alien factions to add to their story/world-building (which is pretty threadbare at the moment)
Tutorials Part 3 & 4 to cover Embassy Treaties, Guild Management, Deployed Fighter Management, Advanced command input commands, Ship Upgrades, Missions, Captain and Fleet Management, Fleet Combat.
Citadels (Mobile Starbases that you construct with a one-way warp gate functionality... with an eye-watering upkeep cost.)
Full independent NPC trader captains with their own guilds that you can cooperate or compete with or eliminate to dominate the trade lanes
More Anomalies and reworked current anomalies with more depth to flesh out the Precursor narrative in the game
Guild Banking system (I know it just says Deposit Credits so it should have been easy to implement, but there's ALOT more to it than just that)
You can deposit your credits into a term deposit with a fixed low interest rate, or an investment account that is affected by galactic events or buy faction bonds which in turn give a slight multiplier bonus to that particular factions behaviourial script, which turn could cause them to become more aggressive against neighbouring factions because you're bankrolling them, which in turn causes the market to react, which in turn causes the targetted faction to lower standings with you which in turn... so you can see, I have to give this ALOT of thought.
Faction Planet interaction beyond just raids
More music tracks with the soundtrack available for purchase. Just in discussions with Nordic Space Viking on licensing, exclusivity, commercial use outside of the game (soundtrack) etc. as his work is amazing!
Federation Capital planet in Sector 1
Open Game Map Generation Settings
A Proper low-poly 3D artist to spruce up all Sector & Anomaly & Discovery graphics... you have no idea how long it took me to make the station/port/depot graphics on my own when I barely know how to manipulate default primitives in Blender. Hours. I should be ashamed, considering I probably have more fingers than there are polygons in those models.
More Playbalancing Changes
4000 sector galaxy as an additional Open Game Scenario (Yes, that means there will be other types of scenarios as well post 1.0 launch, either as a scenario pack DLCs or as a free update!)
UI/UX Polish

Fixed some minor issues caught on splattercatgaming's playthrough video. Also, thank you splattercatgaming!
Enabled permanent flee button when in combat in an escape pod, so you no longer have to hit the evasive stance first to unlock the command, at least in the escape pod. So no more panicking.
Added visual notification in comm log when Refugees are delivered to Starbase.
Additional hints added to telegraph system so there is feedback on what counter to use every attack.
Added visual notification in comm log when ship is traded in.
Demo Updated to latest EA release version. Enjoy all the UI/UX enhancements.
Hello SectorLords!
We are exactly ONE WEEK from Early Access and I am literally committing every loose branch of code into production just so you can have what I hope will be an amazing experience! Yes, this might mean there will be bugs or inconsistencies, bad grammar, spelling mistakes, but those will be quickly cleared up post Early Access launch, so expect weekly patches if not daily for the most egregious of bugs! The following weeks I'll be listening carefully to those of you that are playing for your feedback on balance, and adjust accordingly if it's too easy or difficult.
Onto the sneak peeks! There's even more coming in the Early Access Release. I've introduced some toggleable optional animations to add a modern touch to the map incase the current settings aren't to your liking. Also, the generic Player Ship icon has been replaced with an icon that corresponds to the current ship you are flying. The new effects are a warp trail and star streaks, and an option to have traversible warplines highlighted or destination sectors bracketed. There are just so many combinations of CRT Effects and GUI customizations now that I honestly hope everyone will be able to create their own perfect '80s style wireframe terminal.
The HAIL system has been almost fully developed now and is available in EA, with the ability to gain (or lose) faction standing when conversing with Alien Captains, and if you chance upon the Faction Flagship, you can challenge them to a duel!
Anomalies have also been upgraded with basic '80s inspired wireframes just to add a little more polish to the game.
I hope you'll take part in early access and enjoy the game!
Hello SectorLords! Ahead of the Early Access release date, I am releasing an updated demo that incorporates all of the improved graphical UI/UX features that's in the EA release! Hit the new MODE button in the Command Input bar and play around with the settings alongside the CRT settings until you get your own personal perfect '80s CRT experience! Now with additional monochrome green modes! Text size for the comm log has been increased and should look sharper as well as better formatting and placement of text (based on your feedback!), and I made all station parts spin the in the same direction (which is how it originally was until a friend pointed out that a spinning station needs an opposite spinning ring or parts to counteract the torque, so instead of remodelling the station I just selected parts of it to rotate in the opposite direction and yes it ended up looking wierd, but then another friend who works as an astrophysicist said actually that's not truly necessary, so ok, everything spins in the same direction now! :end rant) and you can see the new Ship Preview, Embassy, Colony Graphics, UI/UX improvements in the EA version and more! Early Access will be following soon!
Hello SectorLords! We are counting down to Early Access release with a tentative date of July 14th!
I hope to give you a rich gameplay experience with intricate indepth mechanics to master across a wide tapestry of gameplay! It's crunch time so I am busy pushing as much of the build to prod to make it into EA with as much as possible so that only a few features will be missing, but rest assured, the game will be released ready-to-play from start to finish!
What will be available in the Early Access Release:
Full 2000 Sector procedurally generated map
Dynamic Economy with Market Events, Diplomatic Modifiers, Supply/Demand pricing, etc.
2 Complete Career Path choices each with its own career path bonus, special utility skill, and unique endgame content
Mission system
Hireable NPC Captains that you can assign missions to
Timed Tactical Combat Mode for small fights
Fleet Combat Mode for big brawls
Full colonization/upgrades management system
Guild Management (Promote NPC Captains)
Dynamic cascading diplomacy system
Anomaly CYOA encounters
Random Sector Events
Port Discoveries
Deep Scan Discoveries
Galactic News Recaps
Black Market Trading
Black Market Missions with unlockable rewards
More CRT and graphical customization options! I should just rename the game '80s SciFi UI Simulator 2026 at this point :D
11 Ship Classes each with unique bonuses and upgrade slots for modules for Attack, Defense, Utility on ships for customization
Full Keyboard/Mouse command parity.
And much more!
Here's another sneak peek at what's being included and what's being polished up a little for EA:
Sector Map now has options for Flat or Shaded Sector Dots and options for the background grid!
New Faction Embassy Screen showing your standing, what treaties you have, their relationship with other factions and what helping them will do to those relationships and faction icons
Hail system with diplomatic options that affect standing when hailing faction ships
New Ship Preview window in the Shipyard
Mission/Bounty Board with selectable/negotiable rewards
Hiring Hall for NPC Captains
I hope you decide to support this game in Early Access and help me evolve the game towards 1.0!
Hello SectorLords!
Early Access is coming soon (about a week or so after Next Fest finishes) and there's just so much left to do before launch! Rest assured, the game is feature complete and you can play start-to-finish with 2 different career paths with 2 different endgame content and the option of continuing on in endless mode. Now onto the sneak peeks of what's in the EA release!
So, ok, you've colonized a bunch of planets, but they are dozens of warps apart. Unless you have the spare capacity to station a Hired Captain in orbit to stand guard, they are pretty vulnerable to Pirate/Hostile Faction raids or any sorts of calamities. So how can you respond? Well to make reacting to events a little more responsive, you can construct a Trans Warp Beacon at your colonies to Warp inbetween colonies regardless of distance in 1 turn. This opens up lots of opportunities for more strategic movement. There is a cost though! And it's up to you to decide if using it is worth it!
For those not inclined to trading or exploration to make your fortunes, and are more combat focused, besides hunting down Pirate Hideouts, raiding faction colonies or salvage, there are missions that you can run for each of the factions in the game to make money.
Selecting a Bounty Hunt will mark a sector on the map that contains the location of the target. Bounties are usually put out on particularly dangerous individuals, so prepare accordingly!
Hello SectorLords! An updated demo has been released just ahead of Steam Next Fest. The updated demo contains a short, more guided advanced tutorial scenario that goes over the basics of Scanning, Anomalies and a few other game mechanics not fully covered in the basic training tutorial.
Here's another peek at what's in store in the early access release coming at the end of the month.
Just like ships, you can add on some specializations to your colonies, which will cost colonists and credits to develop. Some can boost productivity of the colony, or increase its' defensive capabilities, or become strategic hubs of your trading empire with transwarp beacons that allow you to deploy instantly from one colony to another. But be aware, the more developed a colony is, the more attractive it becomes to hostile factions and pirates to raid.
Hello SectorLords! The new demo will be dropping in about a week ahead of Steam Next Fest, besides teaching you more gameplay mechanics, there will be 2 new music tracks by Nordic Space Viking to conquer the galaxy to!
Ship Customization
Ships in the game are more than just a set of progressively stronger stat vessels. They can be customized and specialized towards the path that you choose in the game. Besides the basic stats and a ship class role bonus characteristic, each ship class has a number of upgrade slots to accommodate weapon, defense and utility modules that affect various areas of gameplay mechanics. Want to absolutely dominate most every combat encounter? Load up on weapon upgrades and pile on improved defenses and buffs to your momentum, but be careful! Modules do come with tradeoffs, such as increased fuel costs or penalties to other stats. Most upgrade modules can be purchased at Starbases, and some faction Starbases will have modules unique to that faction. Modules can also be found as loot drops from specific anomaly encounters, port discoveries, or plain old combat looting or as rewards for reaching certain thresholds, it's all for you to discover! Most modules can transfer between ships as well or be uninstalled and stored in your Locker accessible at any Starbase if you want to switch up your loadout to meet a specific goal.
Hello SectorLords! We are getting close to Steam Next Fest! I will be releasing an updated demo prior that will contain an additional tutorial scenario covering Scanning Anomalies, Deep Scans, Port Discoveries, Faction Diplomacy, the Codex, and Colonization! It will be more guided rather than free flow like the first tutorial mission, just to get you familiar with the mechanics so you can hop right into a full game without spending alot of time.
Black Markets are places where the illicit economy operate, but not every port has a Black Market presence and must be discovered by docking at a port and looking around. You start off by accepting smuggling missions which both increase your black market standing and conversely can affect your faction standing if caught by customs patrols. Increasing your black market standing unlocks higher reward missions and the occasional unique item reward, either the ability to purchase a unique pirate ship or upgrades.
The Galaxy is populated by a myriad of alien races that all have their own agendas and stances towards each other and you. They will pursue their own goals which in turn can affect the galactic tradescape. One faction may declare war on another and cause prices to spike in one region, or blockade the warp lanes in another causing you to either pay more in fees crossing their territory or make the market collapse entirely. The galaxy is alive with events that are summarized every 200 turns in the Galactic News Network summary to help you stay informed as to what's going on .
The Faction Embassy is located at every major Starbase on the map and allows you to interact diplomatically with all the factions in the game and improve relations. Relations can be improved by either completing missions for that faction, trading at their ports, clearing out pirates and rogues in their territory, random events, attacking their enemies or good old fashioned bribery. Conversely, your standings can be degraded by trading with their enemies, attacking their ships/colonies, purposely draining a faction region of any trade item and other actions... you'll just have to discover them!
Space is big. Really big. There's all sorts of wonders and terrors that are hidden in vast expanse of space. So let's go find them! For more explorer minded (or loot gobliny types) you can deep scan empty sectors and find that empty sectors aren't so empty. What could they hide? Loot? Knowledge? Pirates? Space Creatures? There are well over 30 unique discoveries in the standard game, but all will take precious turns to uncover. Turns although they seem like an infinite pool, are just as precious a commodity, spend too many turns hyper-focused on an activity and you may miss out on an important event elsewhere or a mission might expire, or spend too much time scanning down every discovery and a pirate might interrupt your exploration. Will the time you spend scanning them down be worth it?
or in your travels, your sensors might pick up an anomaly trace that you can scan and discover a warp route to an undiscovered sector.
Spending the time to uncover a route to the anomalous sector will lead you into a one-time adventure narrative with lucrative loot and risks that can be affected by your ship type, chosen career path, what cargo and upgrades you have, or any number of factors that can ensure your victory or demise!
This is just one facet of exploration in the game, as there are still even more gameplay mechanics around exploration and discovery to be revealed in future devlogs!
Updated Demo Build with a few QoL improvements.
Additional guided tutorial steps covering the Ship Status Panel tabs and Combat Momentum.
Ability of Unlock the Camera in main view so it no longer auto-centers on the player each warp. (CTRL+G)
Corrected a minor scaling issue for players who don't play at 100% desktop scaling res.
