Diplomacy

Bot Improvements

AI diplomacy has been improved, making interactions feel more dynamic and responsive. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/fca5156b945c081672dbf7d8a45b5bfa0cfa9a2c.png AI can now react to player ultimatums — the better your relations and the stronger your position, the higher the chance the AI will comply.

Performance & Stability

Fixed an issue where the game could freeze when opening the building menu.

Fixes & Improvements

• Fixed an issue where the “Next Turn” button animation behaved incorrectly on mobile devices.
• Improved camera movement across the map for smoother navigation.

New DLC Content Available

This update introduces full support for a new DLC, which adds two unique story-driven scenarios and a brand-new map:

Consequences (1926, Alternate History)

A world struck by global warming far earlier than expected. Rising temperatures devastate provinces and population, forcing you to migrate north in search of survivable land. Explore a new technology branch and try to stop the climate catastrophe before it’s too late. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/b9c7b099bfbbe3d9beeedb5b49df30b69d2e892c.png BTW, the cause of global warming is randomly generated each time. It could be the greenhouse effect, Earth’s core activity, or solar radiation. You won’t know in advance which solution to pursue — you’ll need to read events carefully and adapt your technology choices. In some cases, the only way to survive solar activity is to trigger a nuclear winter. It may sound absurd at first — but given the circumstances, it might actually be the lesser evil.

Lost

After a crash on an unknown planet, you lead a stranded crew with no ability to recruit armies or build military equipment. Survive with limited forces, defend against hostile locals, and find a way to escape. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/642978ca25ad98161fb78281ac467275a9c6338d.png This scenario features a completely new planet map, “LP-16.”

Start a new game

In the scenario/map selection:

• For the global warming scenario, choose map “euro4” and then scenario “Consequences”
• For the alien survival scenario, choose map “LP-16” and then scenario “Lost”

Scenario Editor Improvements

We’ve added several new tools for scenario creators:

Longer event descriptions are now supported

New command /export_no_diplomacy to quickly strip diplomacy from a scenario

Added two new requirements for scenario creators: science and prestige checks

Fixed issues causing a gray screen on game startup The update is available now — make sure to download it to access the DLC and the latest improvements.

From the DLC – Interesting Details

Here are a couple of fun details from the development process:

• The temperature system in Consequences had to be rebalanced multiple times. In early versions, northern countries could avoid the effects entirely. We also made sure every nation has a chance to survive — even hotter regions like Egypt, whether by building a “mega-refrigerator” or migrating north. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/b1101756eb0e1bad0f4278ac68163bdfc0b46ef6.png
• In Lost, there was a bug where a rebel faction from your crew would lose its “at war” status with the locals. This led to strange situations where rebels and locals effectively teamed up against you. • Another bug allowed technologies from Consequences (like mega-refrigerator) to appear in historical scenarios if you switched between them in the menu. That has now been fixed.

We know it’s been a bit quiet on our end lately — and for a good reason. We’ve been deep in development, working on something a little different from what you’re used to. It still feels like Warnament, but with a twist we’re really excited about. We’re not quite ready to show everything just yet (still lots of testing ahead), but we can finally share a sneak peek of what’s coming very soon:

This time, instead of historical conflicts, we’re experimenting with two brand-new scenarios with unique conditions and goals:

Consequences

An alternate 1926 where global warming spiraled out of control. Rising temperatures are devastating populations and destroying provinces. Lost

A completely different kind of challenge. You’re the crew of a crashed expedition on an unknown planet. No army recruitment. No military industry. What else are we working on?

Alongside the DLC, we’re preparing improvements for the base game — especially for those of you who enjoy creating your own scenarios and maps. Two new story-driven scenarios are coming in the next updates:

• Global Warming Scenario — global temperatures will steadily rise, breaking records, causing population losses and damaging buildings. You’ll need to adapt and survive in an increasingly hostile environment.
• Alien Planet Scenario — survive on a map of another planet where recruiting units is impossible. You must complete objectives using only the forces you’re given at the start.

Gameplay & Balance

Two new units have been added:

Cavalry — receives a flank attack bonus and can move through two provinces per turn (can do so even when moving next to enemy units).

Submarine — deals increased damage to aircraft carriers and battleships, and is immune to long-range naval attacks (e.g., battleship volleys). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/02aa5a339ce9e9e6154dccff0a386eb296fddaac.png These additions expand tactical options and counterplay possibilities for units.

Buildings & Progression

Interface & Quality of Life

Added a hint for the current turn: it now indicates that the winner will be determined on turn 100, but players can choose to continue the game if they wish.

Fixes & Improvements

Fixed an issue with the /generate_translation command when the scenario contained countries without a capital.

Fixed various UI bugs for smoother performance.

New Scenario: World War II (1936 Start)

It includes 78 playable countries, letting you take command of anything from Siam to the Soviet Union. Interface & Usability

The command menu is now divided into three sections: Province Management, Diplomacy, and Army Control.

Diplomacy actions now have clearer names — for example, Declare War instead of War, Sign Pact instead of Pact, and so on.

The Resource Lens now shows resource icons next to their names.

Improved readability of capital and building icons on the map.

The map can now be moved using the middle mouse button.

Gameplay & Balance

The transfer_provinces bonus no longer changes province culture.

Future army movements (planned for later turns) are now shown as transparent arrows.

Chemical weapons now display their source and target provinces directly on the map.

Increased starting money in Sandbox Mode.

The Create multiplayer server button has been removed from the tutorial.

Editor & Modding

• Event Editor Additions: Two new bonuses have been added — changing a country’s political institute and transferring provinces. A new requirement has also been introduced — ownership of specific provinces, which can now be selected directly on the map.
• Click Detection Fix: Fixed an issue where clicks on buildings, the infrastructure button, or other interface elements either didn’t register or only worked after multiple attempts.
• Building Upgrade Fix: Resolved a bug where buildings could not be upgraded if all slots were already occupied.
• Demo Label: The demo version now displays a “Demo” label at the top of the screen.
• Steam Nickname Sync: On the first launch from Steam, your Steam nickname will now automatically be set for multiplayer (this can still be changed in the Join menu).

• Encirclement Fix: Fixed an issue where environments were not working correctly.

Interface Improvements

The top bar (income, science, prestige, resources) has been redesigned to take up less space. Resources are now displayed in the same row, without a dropdown menu.

Army Movement & Pathfinding

Army movement is now more intuitive! The path is dynamically built and shown on the map, not only when holding the right mouse button, but also when hovering after selecting "Move" in the control menu. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44092283/a72bf3c4becd6f783e397a7bae7476fd35f5e696.png If you can’t cross a river or sea due to a missing port, an icon and explanation will appear in the province, letting you know why the path is unavailable. This info also appears if your route is longer than expected because you need to go around—so you’ll know where building a port would speed things up.

Map & Territory Visualization

Country Locator

Arch Linux Black Screen

In the latest update, we’ve fixed the black screen issue that affected some users when launching the game on certain Linux distributions (such as Arch, Debian, SteamOS and their derivatives). Top Priority – Clarity

Our current top priority is to make the game’s interfaces as clear and user-friendly as possible. After three years of closed beta, we (the developers and veteran players) have grown accustomed to some of the old solutions, which aren’t always obvious to newcomers. That’s definitely on us, so even now, at 2 AM, we’re working on fixes and will keep at it! Also, starting today, our experienced designer Ivan has joined the team. Early this morning we compiled a list of over 30 tasks—and the first ones are already done. Here’s the new update!

What’s New in This Update?

• Tutorial hints added: the text now contains hyperlinks that, when clicked, instantly show the relevant city or country on the game map.
• Hovering over the “Relations” icon now displays which factors contribute to the final score.
• In the “Lenses” and “Buildings” menus, we’ve added tooltips with all the info you need to decide.

Text Size

• Added a missing translation for the text "Badges" in the customization menu
• Removed the "Add to Wishlist" buttons from the game, the bot's reminder in the chat to add to the wishlist. Also, the badge in the customization menu that encouraged adding the game to the wishlist has been removed as well
• The community and machine translation sections have been swapped in the language selection menu, so that the full list of supported languages is visible first, and the community-contributed set and its translation percentage only appear if you scroll down

Developing Warnament was quite a story! Warnament began with Denis Makhortov, a college student who got desperate, waiting for the sequel to his favorite game to come out. So, he started making a game of his own, and he took the fanbase of his high school game, Cold Path, along with him. At Luden.io, we never questioned Denis's vision: our role was to provide help with non-technical things, like art & marketing. So at its core, Warnament is still a one-man game. In late '24 we released our first professionally made trailer, inspired by the ironic doumentary series ‘How to Become a Tyrant’: A more professional approach required more professional art. This year, perhaps the most notable change is the new map look. It changed so drastically, that we had to re-shoot our trailer from last year, so it would reflect the current look of the game: At some point, we decided that it was time for honorable resignation of The Grumpy Dude. We wanted a more ‘strategic’ looking art. • A new technology branch related to Shock Infantry has been added. It grants access to a technology that unlocks a unique building: the Training Camp (allows you to convert regular infantry into Shock Infantry), as well as technologies that improve Shock Infantry (enhancing their effectiveness when attacking from sea provinces and granting immunity to chemical weapons). On Android, this branch is available through a purchase; in the beta, it is unlocked by default
• A new "Events" section has been added to the "Join" menu. Owners of global servers can now create events to attract players to their games
• Two new purchases have been added for the Android version: one unlocks the new technology branch, the other unlocks ideologies
• The World War I Historical scenario has been updated: historical inaccuracies have been fixed, and new events have been added
• Fixed lag issues caused by terrain textures on large maps
• Improved the readability of capital city names on the map
• Various minor bug fixes

• Added different types of terrain (they depend on a province's relief and level of economic development). If you zoom in the camera, you can see the textures and also hear ambient sounds. For example, a province with a high level of infrastructure will have city sounds, while in a desert you'll mostly hear wind
• Currently, terrain types like mountains, deserts, and cold regions do not provide any bonuses and are not set by default on standard maps, but this will be addressed in future updates
• You can now enable or disable clouds in the settings (they are disabled by default on mobile devices)
• In the scenario editor, you can now check whether countries are neighbors when creating an event
• Flags have been added to the Declare War menu
• Fixed the placement of ships received through events (previously they spawned randomly; now they spawn near a shipyard or, if that's not available, in the sea or a river. Previously, they could even spawn in a lake)
• Fixed incorrect country names when debugging events using the /events command
• Fixed a UI freeze that occurred after building defense lines
• Fixed a bug where armies were not transferred when a country was annexed through events

• 1,000,000 wishlists - players absolutely crazy about that and expecting something really really good from the developers

• Added a new option: Historical Mode. Selecting it will let the game attempt to follow historical events. It affects diplomacy and global events. Currently, there are no scenarios with historical events (but they will be added), while diplomatic features are already included
• Instead of Army size, by default, the timelapse at the end of the game now displays World Standing for each country (e.g. their ranking considering various parameters, not just the army size), as it better reflects a country's position in the ranking
• Scenario editor improvements: you can now group countries so that events are available for specific countries. Added alphabetical sorting for dropdown lists and new requirements: checking for an ally, a vassal, and whether there is a player acting as a specific country. Added a new bonus: make a country a vassal
• Added copy and paste for events in the Scenario editor
• Improved game performance. Affected areas include timelapses, multiplayer, processing the next turn, and map navigation
• Fixed crashes in multiplayer and a bug where all players could see private rooms
• Various minor bug fixes
