Hello!
Here is the first update for Vindilis. This update mostly resolves bugs. Here's what's new:
Firstly, and most importantly, the save system was buggy and didn't save the player's current stage correctly, so it was almost impossible to quit the game and come back. This should be fixed now.
Secondly, a damage fallback system caused the player to slide across the screen under certain conditions. I have fixed this.
- Some places or items could lead to a soft lock, but I've fixed that too!
Last but not least, I created a key rebinding system for the keyboard! It's in beta for now and may need some adjustments. For now, it's only for the keyboard. If you need it for a controller, please send a message on the Game Hub so I know what to work on. 😁
\
IMPORTANT NOTE : For people with save issues!\
Unfortunately, the last saving system being off means that the save files are no good for you. To fix this, you have no choice but to open the JSON file in the game's repository. You should find it here: Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Vindilis\\Vindilis_DataSavedData.json
In this file, you can change the 'Stage' value to your current level.
1: Prison
2: Forest
3: Moors
4: Kaer
5: Ys
I apologise for the issues with the release and hope you'll forgive me and enjoy the game.
After months of development, I am thrilled to announce the release of Vindilis today!
To go with this announcement, there is a 20% discount for the first week, and a broadcast of the first 30 minutes of the game.
This was really an amazing adventure to create this game, it was stressful, but also so rewarding to see people giving feedback during playtests, playing the demo, and joining the Discord to know more about the game.
I know I'm only a solo dev, with so little visibility, but I feel proud to be able to achieve this, and to finally finish this project by releasing it on Steam!
I really hope you'll enjoy this game as much as I did by creating it!
As you know Vindilis was part of the Steame Next Fest, and I am so happy with the results! You've been many to play the demo and to give some feedbacks about the game mecanics, and now I have a lot to do to make the game better, so here is a quiqk list of what I'm up to for the game development (I may have forgotten some) :
Make an Option Menu (with volume, and maybe key binding, but this one is a big deal)
Hold dash to run ,
You can attack right after the dash (kind of like in Hades),
The first boss killing you in a cinematic (you don't have to let him kill you anymore),
Hold the heal button to heal (like in Hollow Knight),
Heavy attack easier to use,
Pary more rewarding (that goes with combat system adjustment to make the game smoother and more enjoyable),
Lots of UI corrections (animations, layers, resolutions issues...)
Doors and some elements needs to be more visible
Traps teleport the player a few step before (like in hollow knight),
Rework the elevator behavior,
You cannot just run into enemies anymore (you'll take damage like in this game, very indie, no one heard about it, it's called Hollow Knight I think),
Aand if I have time, add a little more content, but that's a lot so it's a maybe haha,
So that's mean I got a lot of things to do, but that's also mean a lot of player wanted to see the game get better, because they believe in it, now the rest is in my hand, and I'll do my best to give you the best Vindilis I can for the release! 💪
Now the Demo for Vindilis is available and there is a brand new Key Art to celebrate!
You can play the demo for free, and don't hesitate to share your feedbacks on the game.
Vinidilis is set to be released in the coming months, and if you didn't know, it's a game developed by a single person. Even though it can be a lot of work to develop a game on your own, I am convinced that the price of the game should reflect the final experience. In this case, Vinidilis will offer between 1 and 2 hours of gameplay, with several bosses and environments, but I want the game to be accessible. 😁
That is why I am announcing the game's price today: £2.99. I think gamung should be accessible, and I hope this price will allow most players to discover and enjoy my game 💓
Hey everyone 👋
I have some exciting news! Vindilis will be part of the Steam Next Fest in October 2025, with a Demo and a new Trailer to come!!! So stay tuned to more news to come! ✨
Huge thanks to the Steam Next fest team for allowing this game to be part of the event!
