Hello Adventurers!
Only 12 days to go until Upgradia launches into Steam Early Access!
Today we wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the biggest parts of the game: combat.
While Upgradia has plenty of relaxing and idle progression, combat is one of the more active, skill-based parts of the game. Your choices matter: the class you equip, the skills you bring, the gear you upgrade, the resources you manage, and the timing of your abilities can all change how a fight plays out.
Combat in Upgradia is built around long-term progression, character builds, and preparing for the fight ahead. As you battle monsters, level your classes, unlock new areas, upgrade your equipment, and improve your skills, your character keeps growing stronger over time.
Each class has its own active combat skills and passive upgrades. Equip a class, earn Class XP, and each class level-up grants +1 Skill Point for that class. Those Skill Points can then be spent while that class is equipped, letting you improve your abilities and shape how you fight.
Combat also has its own progression layers beyond your class. As you fight, you can level Combat, Melee, Archery, Magic, and Defense. Weapons and combat styles have their own skill progression too, with Swords, Two-Handed weapons, Daggers, Shortbows, Longbows, Crossbows, Staffs, Wands, Tomes, Shields, and Agility all trainable over time.
Your skill bar matters too. Combat is not just about clicking attack every turn. You can choose which abilities to bring, manage stamina and mana, watch cooldowns, time buffs and debuffs, and decide when to heal, burst, defend, or finish an enemy off.
Gear is another huge part of combat progression. Weapons, armour, accessories, affixes, rarity rolls, and equipment stats all help define your build. Through Smithing, you can unlock the Upgrade Station and enhance gear all the way up to +9, using gems and gold to push your favourite equipment further.
You can also collect monster cards from your adventures and insert them into equipment to further customize your build. Cards add another layer of progression, letting you chase useful drops, improve your gear setup, and fine-tune your character over time.
Consumables can also turn a fight around. Potions can restore health, mana, or stamina, while buff items and crafted consumables can help you prepare for tougher enemies. Food can be eaten to heal, and your consumable bars let you bring useful items with you in or out of combat when you need them most.
As you progress, you’ll unlock new combat areas and tougher enemies, from early Training Plains fights through places like Ancient Ruins, Abyssal Depths, Infernal Rift, Nightmare Realm, Celestial Ascent, and beyond. Enemies have their own skills too, including stuns, burns, poison, slows, defensive buffs, AoE attacks, and boss abilities.
Combat also expands into multiplayer systems. You’ll be able to party up with other players, take on dungeon battles, defeat bosses, earn dungeon chests, and chase stronger rewards together. For players who want competition, PvP includes duels, rated arena-style battles, rating tiers, match history, and leaderboards to climb.
Whether you want to build the perfect class setup, push difficult monsters, upgrade your favourite weapon to +9, test your build in PvP, or team up for dungeon rewards, combat in Upgradia is designed to keep giving you new goals to chase.
Every wishlist helps Upgradia reach more players before launch, and we’re so excited to finally open the world very soon.
We can’t wait to see you in-game on August 3rd, 2026!
