Untamed Kingdom | August 1st Development Update
Hey everyone, and welcome back to another Untamed Kingdom development update!
We've got a lot to cover today because this is one of our biggest updates yet. Over the past few weeks we've been focused on making survival more immersive, combat more strategic, and the world itself feel more alive. Today we're going to walk you through everything included in the August 1st update, explain how these new systems work, and give you a look at what's coming next.
Let's jump right into it.
Knock Down System
One of the biggest gameplay additions in this update is our new Knock Down System.
Combat in Untamed Kingdom has always been about timing and positioning, and this new mechanic takes that even further. Powerful attacks now have the ability to knock opponents off their feet, creating opportunities to capitalize on well timed attacks while punishing players who overcommit.
Instead of every fight becoming a back and forth exchange of attacks, players will now need to think carefully about positioning, stamina management, and when to engage. A successful knock down can completely change the outcome of a fight, making combat feel more dynamic and rewarding.
Body Temperature System
Another major feature making its debut is the Body Temperature System.
Your animal's body temperature is now influenced by both the environment and your activity. Running long distances, fighting, resting, swimming, and even the surrounding weather all affect your body temperature.
This creates a more immersive survival experience where your environment becomes something you need to pay attention to instead of simply traveling through it.
To support this system, we've also expanded environmental effects.
When temperatures rise above 80 degrees Fahrenheit, your thirst will drain 35 percent faster. In colder regions below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, your hunger will drain 35 percent faster.
Every biome now presents its own unique survival challenges, encouraging players to prepare before setting out on long journeys.
Adrenaline System
Working alongside body temperature is our brand new Adrenaline System.
During dangerous situations your animal naturally builds adrenaline, allowing it to push beyond its normal limits when survival matters most.
Adrenaline becomes another resource you'll need to manage during combat and while escaping predators. It gives players an opportunity to react during high pressure situations while adding another layer of strategy to every encounter.
New Ability: Adrenaline Rush
The first unlockable ability built around this system is Adrenaline Rush.
When activated, Adrenaline Rush provides a temporary burst of performance, helping players survive dangerous encounters or quickly reposition during combat.
This also marks the beginning of our Ability System. Over future updates we'll continue introducing species specific abilities, attacks, vocal calls, hides, and much more, giving every animal its own unique playstyle.
New Immersive HUD
We've also redesigned our entire HUD.
Our goal was to create an interface that gives players the information they need without constantly covering the screen.
Health now appears whenever it drops below 90 percent, while hunger, thirst, and stamina automatically appear once they fall below 60 percent.
We've also added a live clock and current temperature display, allowing players to quickly understand the conditions around them without opening additional menus.
The result is a much cleaner and more immersive gameplay experience.
Photo Mode
Another feature we're excited to introduce is Photo Mode.
Untamed Kingdom is filled with diverse landscapes, changing weather, and beautifully detailed animals, and we wanted to give players a way to capture those moments without the limitations of normal gameplay.
Whether you're taking cinematic screenshots, photographing your pack, capturing an intense battle, or simply enjoying a sunrise across the wilderness, Photo Mode gives you complete control to create the perfect shot.
We're incredibly excited to see the creativity of our community, so be sure to share your favorite screenshots with us on Discord and Steam. We can't wait to feature some of the amazing moments you capture.
Scent System
The Scent System is now fully functional.
Players can activate scent mode by pressing Q to search the environment for activity and track nearby animals.
Using scent isn't free, however.
While it's active, your stamina continuously drains, forcing players to decide when tracking is worth the cost.
This is only the beginning for scent, and we'll continue expanding this mechanic with additional features in future updates.
Territory System
Groups now have something meaningful to fight over with the introduction of Territories.
There are currently six territories spread throughout the map that groups can compete to control.
By remaining inside a territory with members of your group, you'll slowly increase ownership of that land. Once your group controls more than 60 percent of the territory, your group's name will be displayed for everyone on the server to see.
Territories create long term objectives, encourage player conflict, and give groups a reason to defend the land they've claimed.
Dens
Alongside territories come Dens.
Each territory contains a den that serves as your group's home.
While inside your den's radius, players receive a 25 percent growth bonus, helping younger animals mature more quickly. Defenders also receive a 10 percent damage bonus while protecting their home from rival groups.
These bonuses reward teamwork and encourage groups to establish and defend permanent homes throughout the world.
Improved Carnivore Interactions
We've also continued improving immersion for carnivore gameplay.
Carnivores can now carry their cubs, making it easier to move younger family members to safer locations.
Predators are also now able to drag carcasses, allowing players to move food away from dangerous areas before feeding.
These additions make raising offspring and surviving as a predator feel much more natural.
Full Controller Support
Another major milestone we've completed is full controller support across the game's entire interface.
Every menu, button, and UI screen can now be fully navigated using a controller.
This has been an important goal for us as we continue improving accessibility and preparing Untamed Kingdom for future platforms.
Performance Improvements
We've completed another optimization pass with a primary focus on shadow performance and overall stability.
Optimization will continue throughout development, but this update should provide a smoother experience for many players.
Quest Progression
We've also increased the amount of experience earned from every quest.
Progression should now feel much more rewarding while reducing unnecessary grinding for players looking to level their animals.
Temporary Tower Workaround
For anyone experiencing issues with broken towers, there is currently a temporary workaround.
Simply create a new animal in that character slot and the tower should begin functioning correctly.
We're continuing to investigate a permanent fix.
Looking Ahead
While this update introduces some of our biggest gameplay systems yet, there's still plenty more on the way.
Our next focus includes expanding the Ability System with more unlockable abilities, introducing unique vocal calls, hides, new combat mechanics, and additional species specific gameplay that makes every animal feel unique.
This update also represents a major milestone for Untamed Kingdom. Many of the core systems we've envisioned for a long time are now finally coming together. Combat is becoming more strategic, survival is becoming more immersive, territories are creating meaningful player conflict, and our ability system has officially begun. These systems form the foundation for everything we'll be building moving forward.
Our goal has always been to create the most immersive multiplayer animal survival experience possible, and every update brings us one step closer to that vision.
