TAILS. TAILS. TAILS. TAILS. TAILS. TAILS.
Hey, y'all! Hope you're doing well. Two bits of news for you today!
First off: a new Unfair Flips update is coming in the not-too-distant future! This almost-anniversary update will add a developer commentary mode and Steam community items!
The development of Unfair Flips was a very strange one, and its place in my life was even stranger. It's a tale of luck, misfortune, disease, poison, and success from the shadow of failure. For a moment, it seemed as though Unfair Flips would be the last game I'd ever get to make. This is the story of how even a DEADBODY can come back to life -- with time, care, and a whole lotta luck.
As previously mentioned, we're working on a new horror/roguelite game: 500 FINGER FILLET! The game is nearly ready to launch its demo, so we've been running a series of beta tests to get as many eyes on it as possible beforehand. Unlike Unfair Flips, this one has "gameplay" and "balance" and "mechanics," so it's important to make sure that those actually work!

That's all for this time! I hope y'all are doing well :)
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Hey y'all!
Let me introduce you to 500 FINGER FILLET.
500 FINGER FILLET is a horror game collaboration between myself, Mickey Sanchez, Josie Brechner, Jacob Stratton, and Surasshu, under the studio title of DEADBODY Games. We've been working on it since January, and I'm excited to show you what we've got!
I've also added in a button in Unfair Flips to check out the game! It only shows up at the beginning and ending of a run, so hopefully it's not too intrusive. (There's also an interstitial popup when you click it so you know you're going to a horror game. I don't wanna spook anyone who doesn't wanna be spooked!!)
EDIT: Due to popular demand, I've also just added a "don't show again" button in the main game. Now you can flip your coin ad-free, if you like!
Thanks for reading! I hope y'all enjoy 500 FINGER FILLET. It's very different tonally from Unfair Flips, but there's a LOT of continuity in its game design philosophy and the questions it asks around play. If the project sounds interesting to you, please give it a wishlist!
That's all for this time. See you in the hand stabbing dimension!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Yesterday, due to an error in judgement, we pushed out an update that made the flips fair. A lot of you hated that! Specifically the terms "miserable" and "psychological torture" were used to describe the experience. I am listening, and I am learning, and I have made the flips unfair again.
If y'all would like to continue playing the April Fools update, including the saved progress you made in that version of the game, you can use the beta code ultimategamer to retain access to the update forever! For everyone else, your game has been brought back to normal, including whatever normal save file you were playing with before the game was covered in gamer slime.
Thank you all for playing the April Fools update! Back to the normal coin flip mines with you!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Gamers, I have heard your pain. I have listened to each and every one of your pleas. Your conspiracies that Unfair Flips is too unfair, too capricious. And frankly, I agree.
Therefore, I have updated the game to fix this error. Announcing:
FAIR FLIPS is the new skill-based version of Unfair Flips. For the next 24 hours only, YOU can test your true mettle in coin flipping. No more randomness; just simple skill. YOU know in your heart whether you're good at coin flipping, or whether you've been coddled by the simple ups and downs of probability. Now there is no more luck. There is only skill.
And, for the top 10% of gamers, those who can TRULY NAIL that final coin flip, there's a new ending (with the exact same achievement as the old ending, but a cool graphic in-game):
See how I got that in ten flips? That's because I'm the world's best coin flipper. Who thinks they can hit second place?
Anyways, your current Unfair Flips saves are safe and sound, but this new version of the game has its own save slot, so you'll start from the very beginning. We wouldn't want people using luck to cheat, now would we?
\
Hey y'all! Thanks so much for enjoying Unfair Flips. I hope you like this alternate version, which some may call a form of psychological torture! If you'd prefer to play the normal game, you can use the beta code tailstailstails to continue your regular coin flipping experience. (Also, if you want to keep playing this significantly more toxic version of the game after April Fool's Day is over, you can use the beta code ultimategamer to continue in this doomed reality!)
The two versions of the game are mechanically identical, but run on different save files, so you don't get gamer slime on your normal coin flipping (or normal coin flipping in your gamer slime)!
Anyways, I've got a bunch of exciting news happening soonish. Over the past few months, a team and I have been working on a spiritual sequel to Unfair Flips. It's a very different game mechanically/tonally, but it retains the same ethos: "Here is the entirety of an experience. You know exactly what you're signing up for within seconds. Let's explore what happens in what follows." Also it's a horror game, which is fun!
One final note for the April Fools version, which may spoil the joke: for all intents and purposes, it's mechanically identical to the base game. The only real differences are in how it presents itself, what information it gives to the player, and how the 10x heads ending looks.
\
That's all for this time, gamers! Now that I've switched to skill-based coin flipping, I haven't hit tails once. Can you say the same?
Best, Heather Flowers Ultimate Gamer

It's Steam Awards season! Time for everyone to pick their favorite games, and then put those favorite games in a list, and then everyone gets to see who picked the most favoritest game.
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: What if everyone picked Unfair Flips.
You know how this goes. The awards go to good games, with choices and stories and gameplay and interactive worlds. What I want to ask is: what if a game got nominated that didn't have any of that?
I know it's a long shot. Half these slots are just gonna go to Clair Obscur. But imagine, just imagine, if Unfair Flips got a nom right alongside it.
Together, we can make this a reality. An extremely silly reality.
Q: Why the "Best Game You Suck At" Award?
A: Because it is ontologically impossible to be good at Unfair Flips.
Q: What if I want to nominate Unfair Flips for multiple categories?
A: You are allowed to do this! I would be delighted, in fact!
Q: What's YOUR Game of the Year?
A: Five-way tie between of the Devil, Lovely Lady RPG, Strange Jigsaws, FALLSTRUKTUR, and Kentucky Route Zero.
Q: Kentucky Route Zero came out in 2013.
A: I know.
REMEMBER: A vote for Unfair Flips is a vote for chaos!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Welcome to the fourth post-launch patch for Unfair Flips! I finally sorted out that save corruption issue. Changes marked with 🪙 are community suggestions!
Added an extra layer of backups to the savegame system! Now, hopefully, the game should be able to better handle save corruption issues, as only one file is ever touched at a time. Thank you to everyone who sent in bug reports on this issue!
🪙 Added unique SFX to each of the shop options! This gives the game a little more texture, and makes it easier to differentiate what's going on by sound alone.
Also, I'm excited to report that Unfair Flips has finally passed 1,000 reviews!! At 92% positive!!! That's huge!!! Thank you to everyone who left a review of the game. And also thank you to everyone who played the game but didn't review it. I appreciate you too. <3
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Welcome to the third post-launch patch for Unfair Flips! Just a quick one this time:
Fixed a bug where attempting to load a corrupted save file would cause the game to appear as normal until the ninth heads flip, at which point the coin would rise and fall without flipping and hard lock the game. Now, attempting to load a corrupted save will simply overwrite it, allowing the game to proceed as normal.
I'll admit, I'm still figuring out why exactly the save gets corrupted on certain machines. I think it's something to do with German copies of Windows? If you're playing the game with your OS language set to German (or another language which has run into this bug!!), I'd love to take a look at your player.log, player-prev.log, and save.coin files! You can find them in the folder at C:\\Users\\\\\AppData\\LocalLow\\Heather Flowers\\Unfair Flips. UPDATE: It turns out the bug has nothing to do with German-language machines! (Which, thank God, that would've been a nightmare to fix.) It's a rare problem that can occur if the game is interrupted by e.g. a power outage or unexpected quit halfway through saving. I'll be figuring out how to fix it soon, but in the meantime, you can avoid it by making sure to quit the game using the EXIT button in the corner of the screen rather than pressing Alt+F4. Thank you to everyone who sent in their save files!
In lighter news: Unfair Flips is closing in on 1000 reviews on Steam!!! There's nothing special that happens at 1k on an algorithmic level, but it'd be a nice milestone to hit. If you liked the game but haven't left a review yet, now might be a nice time to do so!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Have you ever felt that Unfair Flips is too unfair? That you want the experience of a nightmare postmodern coin-flipping incremental game about the games industry, but with perfectly 50/50 odds?
Then do I have the bundle for you!
Q-UP is God's perfect e-sports game. Every match decided by a coin flip, so the odds are always fair. Behind this silly premise is an extremely deep incremental game with tons of characters, some really delicious engine-building, and a shocking amount of polish. It's also tremendously funny.
If you liked Unfair Flips, I can all but guarantee that you'll enjoy Q-UP. And, thanks to this bundle, you can get it for an extra 10% off!!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Welcome to the second post-launch patch for Unfair Flips! I cannot believe the response this game has gotten. I literally feel like I'm in a Twilight Zone episode that'll end with me running into the street screaming about coins. ANYWAYS! Updates marked with 🪙 are community suggestions!
Enabled Steam Cloud Save. This was already completely functional but I forgot to press a button. Sorry!
🪙 Fixed a memory leak that occurred when flipping the coin several thousand times.
Added more UI reactivity when attempting to quit/mute/reset the game at the very start of a run.
Added an extra line around flip 150 that further explains the "multiple endings" situation.
That's all for this time! Thank you for playing!
Good luck, Heather Flowers

Welcome to the first post-launch patch for Unfair Flips! I've been blown away by the reception to this game. There is something deeply wrong with some of you, and I love to see it.
Patch notes tagged with a 🪙 are player-suggested!
🪙 Fixed a bug where getting nine heads in a row, then failing on the tenth head, then getting three heads in a row, then failing again would result in the spacebar controls not being responsive.
🪙 Added a secret "reset save" button to the game! To reset your game from the start, press the Escape key four times in quick succession.
That's all for this time! Thanks for playing!
Good luck, Heather Flowers
