The response to Truxton Extreme since Japan's Shooter Fest has been incredible. Seeing both longtime shmup fans and brand-new pilots get excited about what we're building has been one of the highlights of this journey. We're not done sharing what Truxton Extreme has in store.
Today, let’s talk a bit about co-op mode.
Truxton Extreme features two-player co-op, giving players the chance to take on the alien invasion side by side. The combined score of both players is tracked together and has its own leaderboards. When you fly as a unit, the results belong to the whole team.
Lives and bombs belong to both of the players in co-op mode. The shared resource pool creates a co-op experience with genuine stakes. Every bomb spent, every life lost, affects the run for both pilots equally. Flying smart isn't just about your own survival. It's about keeping your partner in the air, too.
When a partner takes a hit, the fight doesn't have to end for them. If you have a bomb available, you can rescue your downed team member by flying to them and making contact. One quick action, one enormous shift in momentum. It's the kind of mechanic that makes co-op in Truxton Extreme feel truly collaborative rather than just two players occupying the same screen. Some weapons even work differently!
Don't expect the enemy to ease up because you brought a friend. The alien formations are still relentless, the pressure is still high, and the challenge is just as real. But now, the spirit of helping each other might be exactly what gets you through.
The mission just got a little more interesting.

TRUXTON!
Truxton Extreme is coming in hot! Following our recent appearance during Japan's
Shooter Fest celebrations, we've seen lots of love from longtime shmup veterans and
players discovering the series for the very first time.
With new players in mind, lets talk about one of Truxton Extreme’s new features:
For decades, shmups have challenged players with overwhelming enemy fire, screen-
filling boss attacks, and the constant threat of losing a run after a single mistake. It can
be a little too intense for new pilots.
Heart Starter Mode is about giving every player a fighting chance. When you take a hit,
you'll recover after a few seconds. No lost lives and no run ending abruptly. Instead,
you'll stay in the fight, keeping your progression and (hopefully) learning from your
mistakes. If you're completely new to shmups or want to practice your dogfighting,
here is a less punishing way to fly!
You’ll need to hone your piloting skills if you want to stand a chance in Truxton
Extreme’s tougher modes.
The boss is still enormous, and the invasion is still relentless. Heart Starter Mode is the
training sim you’ll need before the real live fire missions start.
There is plenty for returning Tatsujin too! The classic challenge is still waiting for you.
No matter your skill level, Truxton Extreme is ready to get your heart racing.
So strap in Tatsujin. Preflight checks are underway. It’s soon time to launch.

what was shown for those still in training.
Need some time in the simulator? Heart Starter Mode will offer a safer training
environment for new cadets to test their skills.
Your ship, a hyper advanced Javelion, will develop as you play, changing to reflect
your mastery.
Two-player co-op play allows Tatsujin teams to take on the alien threat together.
Sharing lives makes supporting your wingman top priority!
True Tatsujin Aces know that finishing a loop doesn’t mean the end, difficulty will
increase each time you clear the game.
Test your reflexes through 8 stages, can you clear them all to become a Tatsujin
Master?
Music has always been the beating heart of Truxton. Extreme delivers a massive
soundtrack featuring 78 tracks, including bonus music.
10 languages, new Ruler ruler and clock features and how now DLC expands your
squadron even further.
We'll be giving mission briefs for many of these features soon, keep watching the skies! Until next time, stay frosty, Tatsujin
Truxton Extreme will release on July 30, 2026. A new Truxton game for the first time in 38 years!

Hello and welcome to the Truxton Extreme Demo! It's only been a handful of hours but what a handful it's been! Clearly you guys are really enjoying the game. It's great to see Truxton Extreme reaching new players and veteran pilots!
However, it’s not all been clear skies. We've been made aware of a few issues that we'd like to highlight here. Hopefully it'll put your minds at rest so you can go back to annihilating aliens!
We have had some comments that the game is locked at 40fps on Steam deck. We are currently investigating this and expect the full release to run at 60fps on the Steam Deck just like the PS5.
Keyboard IS SUPPORTED in game, just not by the UI. The whole demo is playable with keyboard, just without any matching on-screen prompts to help greener pilots learn the controls. We plan on fixing this in time for Launch.
We've had a few other reports, our bug-crushing team has been deployed and are working to fix anything that pops up for the full game!
That's everything for now! We're really looking forward to hearing your feedback and reviews! So, what are you waiting for? Go play some games!
