Prussian Class G 8

The Prussian Class G 8 locomotives were eight-coupled, superheated, freight locomotives operated by the Prussian state railways.

There were two variants: the G 8 built from 1902 with a 14 tonne axle load and the 'reinforced G 8' (Verstärkte G 8) built from 1913 (later designated the G 8.1) with a 17-tonne (17-long-ton; 19-short-ton) axle load. The latter was the most numerous German state railway (Länderbahn) locomotive, over 5,000 examples being built. Features:

NOTE: You need an active Trainz newsletter subscription to get the confirmation email (edit the status in MyTrainz). Once invited, install TRS22 and jump in to check out the latest version of Trainz, then join us for the test tomorrow (see below for details). EXISTING TESTERS: A new MPS Beta Build is now ready for testing. Patch in the normal way to 117118. Note that Steam users do not have currently access to Driver in MPS - this will be enabled in the next update. You also need to enter their MyTrainz login in Trainz Settings > MyTrainz tab to access MPS. (Create one if you do not already have one. We've currently enabled two routes to increase the number of players per route. Tests will be co-ordinated through our Discord Server - MPS Chat Channel.

We're looking for people ready to jump in and test the new Multiplayer Surveyor feature which will be part of Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022. You will have full access to TRS22 for the duration on the stress test which will run up until then end of March. At that time, your access will end (but of course you'll be able to purchase TRS22 when it is officially released). The main focus of the Stress Test will be online sessions that run from 9am AEST (4pm PST), but you are free to play at any time. Since the game is still in development, the beta test server may also be down for maintenance from time to time. Status can be monitored through our Discord channel. REGISTER YOUR INTEREST NOW: Complete this online form to register. We will then be selecting groups of people to join the test group over the coming week. You will receive an email if you are selected.

This update returns the localisations accidentally removed from the earlier build. We apologize for the inconvenience. This build also reimplements the AA options. Please note that using AA 2x will reduce graphics quality. Known Issues: Certain updated localisation strings remain untranslated. Some users are reporting issues with portals and Enhanced Interlocking Towers. We are unable to reproduce these issues so require detailed bug reports to be submitted so that we can identify the issue. Bug Reports: For users saying "things are broken" please note that we need to know EXACTLY what is broken in order to fix it. If you have any issues, please submit a DETAILED Trainz Bug Report here.

Service Pack 5 is the latest update for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019, and is now available for all TRS19 owners. This update delivers a few minor updates as well as a number of bug fixes. Under the hood, this update is trainzbuild 5.0 which means that it is currently compatible with TRS22 routes. Note that this is likely to change when TRS22 is released officially (next month).

Updates:

• Trainzbuild 5.0 (content older than 5.0 will work in this build. Content saved in this build will not work in older builds
• Default ground texture is now based upon the Region selected. To use the old grid texture as your default, download the "Grid Region" asset from the Download Station
• Map options are now found on the Display Menu
• New Content Manager category icons
• New Surveyor (Classic) compass

• Fix various derailments on loading certain sessions
• Fix some switches in cabins that were in the wrong position when entering the cab
• Fix an issue where session layer trains could been moved to a different layer or hidden

• Fix an issue where rotated vehicles would reverse again when loading into Driver
• Fix steam loco water not being handled by the Automatic Fireman feature

• Headlight coronas now working in Quickdrive
• Texture replacement scripts are now working
• Certain ground textures that failed to load now load correctly

• Non-PBR ground textures now apply at the correct height (track not buried)
• ARN now working correctly
• Sessions options now working correctly
• Environment settings now remembered
• Merge route now shows both routes
• Certain signals that would not update on session start now update correctly
• Fixed a hang on loading certain sessions
• Fix for various session freezes (or failure to load fully)

Installing Grid Region

If you prefer the old Grid pattern, or any other default ground texture, follow these steps to change your Region:

• Open Content Manager
• Type "Grid Region" in the search box
• Change the filter to Download Station
• R-click and click Download
• In the Routes Menu select your route to Edit
• Click Edit Menu > Edit Route > Change Region

Great news just in time for Christmas holidays - we're rolling our the next free update for TRS19 today. The latest free update for TRS19 is now available and delivers new content, new features and a range of bug fixes, improvements and optimisations. Service Pack 2 (SP2) unifies all our TRS19 customers onto the same build number with cross-compatibility for content, routes and sessions including multiplayer. So Steam users can now play with all other PC and Mac users with the latest version installed. SP2 also updates the file format to Trainzbuild 4.7 and therefore assets created or saved in SP2 are not compatible with earlier Trainz builds. Find out more about SP2 here.

We're happy to release Service Pack 1 update to all our Steam users at exactly the same time as our Trainz Store users. While our auran.com forums are the main "hangout" for core Trainz fans, it is important to note that our Steam user base is growing rapidly and now an integral part of our development plans. We're about to make another big announcement "real soon" and our plans were originally to do this several weeks ago on all platforms. Due to the typical software development cycle of "it's never quite ready", we will now, sadly, be making this announcement on Trainzportal.com only for this year. The Steam announcement has had to be postponed to early 2020, soon after we return from our "Summer holidays" (down here in Australia where we're sweltering in 40 degree/110F+ heat). We still need to work through a few technical issues that are present on Steam and then we'll let you all know what's in store (literally). What is TRS19?

Wow, so much DLC?

The Downloadable Content (DLC) is supplied by 3rd Party Content Creators (mostly fans just like you). The market for this DLC content is driven by you, our fans. Everyone has their favourite train or region. We don't expect anyone to buy everything on offer, but rather just choosing those items that interest them the most. Remember, buying DLC is purely optional, so when you see someone raising the question about "having to spend hundreds of dollars on DLC", please let them know it isn't compulsory . :) Our 3rd party content creators would love you to support them and purchase any items you're interested in.

The original full version is now be listed in the Steam Store as “Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 - World Edition” (note that it is a new name, not a new version of Trainz). After all the effort that has gone into creating all the routes, sessions and content included in TRS19, it’s a shame that at this early stage we’ve received a few negative reviews from people who, it appears, haven’t installed the full version of the game. We know, based upon the many, many hours of play logged by thousands of fans over the past ~20 years, that Trainz has a lot to offer. However, there are many more thousands of people out there who haven’t discovered the world of Trainz (yet), and we need your help to let them know what it is all about. We know that there are many more people enjoying Trainz than we have reviews, so we encourage each of you reading this to write a short review (or a long one if you like) to help people new to Trainz to discover everything there is to offer.

DLC (Downloadable Content) appears to be a very contentious subject in the world of train simulators. Unlike other games, where DLC items are often required to "compete" (either via power or just looking the part), in a train sim, it is much more about expanding your experience with your favourite DLC loco/route/region. And since everyone has a different favourite, it means that there needs to be a LOT of DLC on offer to provide something for everyone. Just as Apple doesn't list the total cost of all songs or apps in iTunes, in the same manner, no-one expects anyone to buy all the Trainz DLC listed on the Steam Store. You can think of the full list of DLC items as just one big "store" where you browse and pick the items you're interested in, while ignoring the majority of items that aren't your cup of tea (just like when you visit iTunes). Another point often raised is the cost of the DLC items. The cost is related to the enormous amount of work that is required to make the items, along with the obvious "niche" train sim community following. Without a market of millions of players to buy all the various items, an individual DLC can sometimes look expensive. Almost all the content in Trainz is made by people just like you - Trainz Community members. To help lower the prices on the DLC and still ensure that our content creators are rewarded for their efforts, we've put together a large range of bundles that offer 40 to 75% off, making it that much easier to access more DLC for less. When you click on a DLC item you will see which Bundles it is also included in. The price shown to you is for the remaining items in the bundle that aren't already in your collection. Don't forget also that Trainz has a HUGE range of free-to-download content on the Trainz Download Station (DLS). There are literally hundreds to top quality routes, and thousands of locos to add to your collection without spending a penny (although we do encourage you to grab a First Class Ticket, which you can do for free this week by visiting your MyTrainz page). To find DLS content, use the new Main Menu in-game filter, or open Content Manager and filter on Download Station, then begin to search and explore.
