Both the Riviera and South Devon Main Lines were built in the mid-1800s. The challenging topography of the land saw rails navigate over hills and cling to coastlines, but was considered favourable over an alternative route over the granite Tors of Dartmoor. What followed was instant connections to seaside resorts and the ability to cross some of the most picturesque railway in England; as a result, the line soared in popularity.
In Train Sim World, the stretch from Exeter to Plymouth links Devonshire’s two cities via this dramatic and historic route. Long gone are the days of GWR’s infamous broad gauge and atmospheric railway systems, instead today, the Exeter - Plymouth line is part of the greater, modern UK railway network. It has often been described as one the most beautiful stretches of railway in Britain.
This is demonstrated as soon as players leave Exeter St Davids, heading south through the industrial estate of Marsh Barton, where a brand-new station was opened in 2023. A small opening party can be in-game celebrating the occasion! It is from here and on all the other station platforms in Riviera Line, where players can experience the new Platform Announcements feature!
From there, the line begins to hug the Exe River, passing through the grounds of Powderham Castle, where the Earls of Devon have resided for hundreds of years. Isambard Kingdom Brunel was granted permission to build his atmospheric railway through the estate in the 1840s.
The first station beyond Exeter’s confines is Starcross. From there, trains through the harbour at Cockwood (a popular railfanning spot) and down to Dawlish Warren where the River Exe ends and meets the English Channel. Red sandstone cliffs, split by the occasional tunnel and accompanied by a coastal walkway (also good for railfanning), follow the railway line through to Dawlish town, famous for its black Swans and the storm of 2014 that necessitated extensive rebuilding of the railway line. The coastal running then continues through to Teignmouth.
At Newton Abbot, the line splits, with the main line continuing on to Plymouth, via Totnes and Ivybridge and the Paignton branch line heading back towards the coast via Torre and Torquay.
The route reaches its southern extremity at Plymouth, where trains will run out of the map to serve Cornwall. Laira Depot is also included in the route, where GWR and CrossCountry trains stable and are maintained.
Train Sim World 6 sees the return of the iconic GWR branding to the game, since its first appearance way back when Great Western Express first released for TSW in 2018. Showcasing a livery that’s celebrating 10 years in 2025 is the modern Class 802 IET.
Though this train may look similar to the LNER Class 801 Azuma included in East Coast Main Line, it performs and sounds very different! The GWR Class 802 is bi-mode, with full diesel engine power to cope with the undulating terrain of the non-electrified Riviera Line as well as overhead electric power for use elsewhere.
The interior also looked markedly different from the LNER variant, with the smart grey and green passenger areas which will have the new passenger announcements and passenger ambience features implemented for increased levels of immersion.
available in Deluxe / Special Edition
It’s been requested enough times... the Voyager is finally here in Train Sim World!
These distinctive trains were born from the idea to revolutionise some of the busiest and longest services in the UK, including the vast CrossCountry network. Entering service in 2001, the fleet of 34 Class 220s got busy traversing England & Scotland, with each member of the class clocking hundreds of miles per day.
Of the many lines and locations the Voyagers have served for the past 20 years, including the bustling city of Birmingham, and across the towering Forth Bridge in Scotland, perhaps the most ubiquitous is their stretch along the Devonshire seaside towns. Whether as part of the long-distance Aberdeen to Penzance marathon, or the occasional Manchester-Paignton jaunt, the Dawlish Sea Wall scenery is a highlight for travellers of all kinds.
In Train Sim World 6, be a driver or conductor aboard busy CrossCountry services along the scenic Riviera Line. Accelerate out of Exeter and race by on express services to Plymouth, crest over the Devon Hills and hurry past the Dawlish Sea Wall.
Existing players will no doubt want to explore other UK routes in their collection by spawning the Voyager into timetable mode.
We’ll talk more about implementation into back catalogue routes later in this article.
Routes where Voyagers could be used in Free Roam include:
Midland Main Line
Fife Circle Line
West Cornwall Local (albeit, different era)
The Voyager will feature train faults (detailed further down) and passenger ambience in the passenger areas. Automated Passenger Announcements will be toggleable in settings – in reality, these are not automated on Voyagers and are instead read out by onboard train managers.
The CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager loco Add-on will be available to purchase separately once Train Sim World 6 has released on 30th September.
Serving local stations is a more contemporary version of the ubiquitous Class 150 previously seen in both West Cornwall Local and Cardiff City Network Add-ons. This staple of the British Railway network was first introduced in the 1980s and has since seen action across the breadth and depth of Britain, including the Westcountry coastline and Devonshire branch lines.
For Riviera Line, the Class 150 comes with a new GWR livery and reworked cab and passenger interior from the previous versions. In addition, sounds have been updated following an audio recording trip by our Audio Team which has also enabled the sounds for the TfW Class 150 in Cardiff City Network to be updated for Train Sim World 6 players. Some of these updated sounds are already implemented into the TfW version.
The GWR Class 150 is included in Train Sim World 6’s Riviera Line route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
Riviera Line and its trains will feature the new Train Faults and Random Events also seen in the other two core routes.
This includes Signal Delays and Temporary Speed Restrictions.
Train Faults can be toggled in the Settings Menu, making it possible for a variety of faults to be encountered during a run in timetable mode.
The list of faults available in the Class 150 and 220 trains are as follows:
Wiper Stuck
Diesel Engine stalls
Passenger Door Stuck
Wiper Stuck
Diesel Engine stalls
Passenger Door Stuck
Train Faults will be implemented into the GWR Class 802 in a post-release update.
You can read more about these features in our previous article.
The timetable for Riviera Line has been developed with the help of Tyler, a Game Designer at Rivet Games. You may remember Tyler from the West Midlands Railway / CrossCountry Class 170 article, where they described in detail the work they’d done for the new Birmingham Cross-City timetable (more on that later...)
The scenic Riviera Line boasts a surprising density and variety of traffic. Let's take a journey along the line for an overview of playable and AI services.
A priority for many players is accuracy, and we share that priority. The data for our timetable comes from the Working Timetable (WTT), an official publication for the railway industry in the UK. We're using the May 2023 version and have included every service listed in the passenger and freight timetables, whether playable or AI. Arrival and departure times from intermediate stations are straight from the WTT, not auto-generated. Station stops after a train leaves the modeled route, shown on platform and train information screens and known as "virtual destinations" are also from the WTT.
The shared trunk of the route is from Exeter St Davids to Newton Abbot, where the line splits: the Paignton branch follows the coast to Paignton and the main line climbs over the South Devon Banks to Plymouth.
Local stations on the trunk and Paignton branch are primarily served by the Class 150 on a half-hourly stopping service between Paignton and Exmouth (playable as far as Exeter St Davids, where the AI reverses in the station and heads out of the map for Exmouth). These trains are stabled at Exeter Depot, adjacent to Exeter St Davids, so early morning and late evening are a flurry of depot services shunting across the River Exe between the depot and station.
Exeter St Davids is the busiest station on the route, with eight playable trains per hur plus AI trains from off map locations such as Barnstaple, Okehampton and Exeter Central. It is also the terminus of Class 159 services from London Waterloo, which are represented by the East Midlands Trains Class 158, layering in from Midland Main Line. It's "close enough" to our eyes, but if you disagree you can always disable the layer in Layer Selector.
Let's depart Exeter St Davids and head to the outskirts of the city. In 2023, the new Marsh Barton station opened as part of the Devon Metro improvement programme. In the "Grand Opening" scenario, you'll drive a VIP service to the station's opening ceremony, but the new station is also interesting in timetable mode for the Class 150: Outside peak times, every other Paignton-Exeter train skips the stations between Exeter St Davids and Dawlish, forming one stopper and one express each hour. Going toward Paignton, the stopper serves the new station, but in the opposite direction the stopper skips it while the express stops.
The next station, Dawlish Warren, is on twin passing loops forming a short stretch of quadruple line. Many stopping services wait here for a faster train to overtake them, giving you a chance to trainspot, look for collectibles, or simply get a cup of tea. That said, we value your time so we've split waits longer than 10 minutes into a separate service allowing you to get your score, go back to the menu, and start Part 2 immediately.
Leaving Dawlish Warren behind, we're soon winding along the coast until we reach the red cliffs at Dawlish. The sea can be rough here, with waves crashing onto the line, a theme explored in the Wave Wall Rescue scenario. The track further from the ocean is signalled bidirectionally between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth for flexibility in bad weather. We leave the ocean at Teignmouth for a short sprint along the River Teign to Newton Abbot.
After Newton Abbot, we split off the main line and head through leafy suburbs until we reach the town of Paignton. Some trains change ends in the station to form the next service, while others continue past the station to Goodrington Sidings. The carriage sidings use manual junctions, so make sure you set the points correctly before moving!
The Class 150 isn't the only train you'll see on the Paignton branch. The 802 and 220 also serve the town, but more on them in a bit. Nor is the Class 150 restricted to this branch, some run to Plymouth. Finally, if you own Great Western Express, the Class 166 will handle some of these services, bringing Turbos to the seaside.
Paignton shares a station with a steam heritage railway, which layers in using the Jubilee and 8F from Peak Forest Railway and Mk1 coaches from West Somerset Railway. The run-around shunting moves at Paignton are playable, and AI handles the off-route trips to Kingswear, all using the railway's real timetable and providing year-round service.
A trip to the seaside is lovely, but it's time for a workout. If we turn right at Newton Abbot instead, we immediately launch into a stiff climb of Dainton Bank, a two-mile slog as steep as 1 in 36 or 2.8%. This is the third-steepest main line bank on the British mainland. The steep gradients and winding curves of the South Devon Banks have challenged drivers since the 1840s, but today's trains are more than up for the task.
The GWR Class 802 is a bi-mode (diesel and electric) multiple-unit train known as the Intercity Express Train, or IET. These provide an hourly service between London Paddington and Plymouth, with some trains continuing to Penzance or Newquay. They also provide three daily round trips between London and Paignton. These operate in 5, 9, and 10-carriage sets.
The CrossCountry Class 220, or Voyager, also tackles this portion of line on hourly services between Plymouth and Edinburgh, as well as three round trips between Paignton and Manchester Piccadilly. These operate in 4- and 8-carriage sets.
The GWR Class 43 HST, layered from Great Western Express, has been bumped from top-line express trains by the IET but can still be found on the route working shorter four-carriage regional services between Penzance and Cardiff. In 2023, not enough modernised "Castle" sets had been completed so some unrebuilt classic sets were still in use, which is what is depicted here. You'll also spot static HST stock around Laira Depot.
The Dainton tunnel marks the summit of the first climb, so shut off power and be ready on the brake as you drop down into Totnes, where we find our second heritage railway holding a diesel gala. The Class 33 and Mk1 coaches from West Somerset Railway operate April-December, joined by the Class 101 from West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle from June to August. These services are AI-only but provide something interesting to look out for while driving past.
If you're running express through Totnes, put the power on as you pass the station to get a running start at Rattery Bank. It's not as steep as Dainton but it's twice as long. If you did stop at Totnes, you'll have a long, slow climb to Rattery Viaduct. The grades ease up for a while, before you drop down the steep Hemerdon Bank to Plymouth. In the past, some HST services were sometimes advised not to stop at Totnes in the down direction, in order to have a decent ‘run up’ before Rattery!
At Plymouth, both the IET and Voyager are stabled at Laira Depot. This fully-playable facility bustles with traffic throughout the day, and also includes a triangle (wye) for turning trains and a train wash. Three Class 08 shunters are stabled at the depot, and we've included several of these in railtour layers (more on those later). Plymouth Station is a mile past the depot, giving plenty of empty coaching stock gameplay between the station and depot. You'll also find some longer stock movements between Laira, Exeter, and points north. Many trains terminate at Plymouth, but others continue as AI services toward Penzance. The station is also served by AI traffic including Class 150 services to Gunnislake.
The Riviera Line has less freight today than in the past, but what remains will give you a run for your money. Many freight services start or end at Exeter Riverside Yard, just north of Exeter St Davids, which is fully playable.
Sand from Burngullow flows to Bow for making concrete. While the empty train handles 16 wagons at once, viaduct weight restrictions restrict loaded wagons to eight at a time, so the loaded train runs twice, leaving the first batch of wagons at Exeter Riverside Yard and then running light back to Plymouth to pick up the rest. Requires WCML: London Euston - Milton Keynes and Southeastern Highspeed
China clay is mined in Cornwall and flows from Burngullow through Exeter Riverside Yard. These are represented by the PGA wagon, standing in for the CDA wagons which handled clay traffic until 2023. This layer is seasonal to represent the "as-needed" traffic which doesn't run every day. Requires WCML: London Euston - Milton Keynes and BR Class 20 'Chopper' loco Add-on (with Tees Valley Line)
Nuclear waste is transported from Plymouth Dockyard, removed from decommissioned submarines. Like the real services, these operate with top-and-tail DRS Class 66s, two flask wagons, and an aircon Mk2F rider carriage. These services have been planned into the in-game timetable ahead of Skyhook Games’ Cargo Line Volume 5: Nuclear release, currently on the Train Sim World Roadmap. Further updates on release plans will be detailed in future Roadmaps and articles.
Requires Edinburgh - Glasgow: Engineering Express, Cargo Line Vol. 5 - Nuclear, and BR Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches.
Exeter Riverside Yard stores disused aggregate wagons, included as static stock to match satellite reference photos. Requires Great Western Express
Every railway needs inspection and engineering to keep the infrastructure in good condition.
The Rail Head Treatment Train works a full tour of the line to blast leaf debris off the rails, twice daily in October and November.
An ultrasonic inspection train makes weekly visits to the line to check for internal defects within the rails. This is formed of top-and-tail Class 37s and several modified Mk1 and Mk2 coaches, and visits the entire route plus a trip to Exeter Depot for fueling. This layer is seasonal to represent the once-weekly schedule and is represented by existing rolling stock from other Add-ons albeit in their native liveries and variants. Requires West Cornwall Local, West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle, and BR Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches
We don't have any sleepers in TSW, but how could we have the Riviera Line without the famed Night Rivera sleeper? We've substituted a heritage railtour using first-class Mk3 carriages, pulled by a Class 47. Requires West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
When it comes to the other railtours, we referenced a variety of photos and videos to research accurate consists and routings. Some are a combination of multiple tours to create interesting and varied gameplay that's still as realistic as possible.
The South Devon Banks will give you a run for your money at the throttle of a steam engine or Class 52 "Western”, so naturally we started there. Three railtours run from Exeter St Davids to Plymouth and back. Each unloads at Plymouth and turns on the triangle at Laira Depot, staying there for a few hours for servicing before returning to Plymouth to board. Because Laira Depot is a mile away from Plymouth, another locomotive is needed on the rear of the train to lead the way.
The Cathedrals Express railtour, behind Flying Scotsman and assisted by a Class 08 based at Laira Depot. Requires LNER Class A3 60103 Flying Scotsman and West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
The Western Pilgrim railtour, behind D1015 Western Champion in BR blue and assisted by a Class 08 based at Laira Depot. Requires Diesel Legends of the Great Western, West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle, and BR Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches
The Devonian Double railtour, behind double-headed Class 40s and assisted by the Class 47 on the rear of the train. Requires BR Heavy Freight Pack (with Northern Trans-Pennine) and West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle
A further railtour runs from Exeter St Davids to Plymouth, continuing off the route before returning several hours later for the return trip.
The South Devon Explorer railtour, behind a maroon Jubilee. Requires West Cornwall Steam Railtour
Two railtours run from Exeter St Davids to Paignton.
The Western Sunrise railtour, behind D1015 Western Champion in red along with a green Class 47, unloads at Paignton and continues to Goodrington Sidings to run around its train before returning to Paignton for the return trip. Requires BR Class 52 'Western', West Somerset Railway, and LNER Class A3 60103 Flying Scotsman
The Torbay Express railtour, behind a green Class 47, continues as AI onto the steam railway at Paignton, returning several hours later for the return trip. Requires West Somerset Railway
We've reached the end of our journey through the timetable. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed creating it!

After further reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetables to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).
There will be no additional services (playable or AI) from layered content from other Add-ons.
Rivet Games have confirmed that gaps were planned for the CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager service in their recent Class 170 Birmingham Cross-City timetable. These layers will be implemented in a future update.
Players with the West Somerset Railway Add-on and Riviera Line will see the Class 150 services replaced with the GWR version, which was used in real life during the 2019 shuttle trials that took place. The Class 220 Voyager will also appear as AI on the short section of Great Western main line, for players with Deluxe/Special Edition or the loco Add-on. These changes will be implemented in an update post-launch.
These additions will apply to the Steam Gala timetable, available for players with the Peak Forest Railway and West Somerset Railway Add-ons.
ATS similarly have plans for an update implementing the Class 220 Voyager into Manchester Airport Commuter and the first post-launch Add-on by All Aboard Studios, WCML: Birmingham – Crewe, will also have Class 220 Voyager layers available to play.
Game Designer Liam has also confirmed that AI Class 220 Voyager services will appear in the Great Western Express Remaster.
There are 8 Scenarios in total for the Riviera Line: 5 with the route and 3 with the CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager Add-on. These feature situations themed around Hallowe’en, the inclement weather causing trains to fail at Dawlish and the opening of Marsh Barton Station.
Mastery Challenges are also included, requiring you to perform certain tasks on a route, like completing certain Scenarios or travelling a certain number of miles in a specific locomotive. Tier 1 Challenges unlock Posters that can be seen throughout each route. Tier 2 Challenges unlock toggleable Scenery Tiles.
Join Jamie and Matt on the Railfan TV team, with guests Tyler and Joe from 1800 UTC on Wednesday 24th September on YouTube and Twitch.
New features are coming in Train Sim World 6! Get ready to expect the unexpected with moments and events that will impact gameplay, such that no two services will ever be the same.
In this article, we outline what players can expect from day one, across the three new routes and new trains that are included.
This includes some new Train Faults not previously mentioned in previous articles and a video to highlight some of them in action.
We also highlight parts of these features that are planned for post-releases updates.
Signal Delays will occur in timetable mode, meaning certain signal aspects will alter later than is normally expected in Train Sim World. Whilst the effect might not be immediate in one isolated delay, the knock-on effect may result in AI trains overtaking yours or a build up of delays over the course of a full service run.
Signal Delays will be available in the new routes and will be applied to back catalogue routes for Train Sim World 6 players.
The other Random Event is the enforcement of Temporary Speed Restrictions.
Signs will appear beside the track to give a visual indication of where any restrictions start and end.
The HUD will also react to these restrictions, giving you a clearer guide as to when you need to slow down to comply with the restrictions.
After reviewing the complexities of adding non-authentic assets to certain routes (i.e. modern-day assets on a historic route, or German signage appearing on a Dutch route, for example), we will just be implementing this for launch on TSW6 routes and will review opportunities to add to older content in the future.
Train Faults can be toggled to ‘Enabled’ in the Settings Menu to trigger a selection of equipment failures to occur at random within trains that are included in Train Sim World 6.
When a failure occurs, a Driver Assist pop-up will appear on screen that explains the fault and gives guidance on how you can overcome it. This may require you to vacate the seat and go looking for a breaker or fuse to reset.
The full day one list of faults for each train is as follows:
Wiper Stuck
Headlight Fuse
Ditchlight Fuse
Marker/Platform/Number Fuse
Cab Heating Fuse
Passenger Door Stuck
Pantograph Drops
Wiper Stuck

We are focusing on launching Train Faults with selected trains included in each route to provide a stable and engaging experience.
Our plan is to add to the other trains included in the pack after full release, and we'll provide more details of this in future Roadmaps:
These will be:
GWR Class 802
NJ TRANSIT® ALP-46
NJ TRANSIT® MultiLevel cars
DB BR 411 ICE-T
DB BR 146
DB BR 185
In all cases, Train Faults will only apply to the player train and not AI trains.
Random Events and Train Faults are toggleable in the Settings Menu. There is also a setting to alter the frequency of these events and faults.
Setting this to 'High' will almost guarantee an event or failure occuring during a service run.
Passenger and Platform Announcements will be heard in passenger train coaches and multiple units, as well as on station platforms.
Platform Announcements are emitted local to specific platforms. If the player is standing on Platform 1, an announcement heard on Platform 4 will be quieter than that of announcements on Platform 1.
An optional, toggleable speaker inside the cab has been implemented in the Settings Menu, so that anyone wanting to hear announcements whilst they're at the helm can do so.
Also implemented for TSW6 is additional Passenger Ambience. These are sound effects of chatter and bustling within the passenger compartments of trains and are based on train loadings. Busy trains with every seat full will feel busy and crowded with noise, whereas quiet trains won’t. Conductor Mode players will hear this most clearly as they walk through the train moving baggage and checking tickets.
Announcements and Passenger Ambience are available in Train Sim World 6 routes.
There will also be improvements to some passenger behaviours, notably in the manner in which they board trains from the platforms.
Some of this was demonstrated in our Preview Stream of the Morristown Line.
After further reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetables to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).
We can confirm the following amendments for each of the three core routes:
All playable services in timetable mode will use the BR 442. Other included trains (ICE-T, BR 143, BR 146, BR 185) will be available to operate in Scenarios.
The only additional layer will be for a selection of playable BR 294 services. There will be no AI-only traffic (services that are not otherwise playable) or freight services.
Players on 8th Generation Consoles with Leipzig - Dresden will also have access to the Dresden - Riesa Add-on entitlement, which will have the current 8th Generation timetable level of services available to it on TSW6, and may provide a better experience if you're looking for a busier timetable on that section of the route.
No additional AI service layers will appear in the schedule for these platforms. All ALP-46 services have been removed. The ALP-46 will still be available to play in Scenarios.
There will be no additional services (playable or AI) from layered content from other Add-ons.
We will detail the full Riviera Line timetable for PC and 9th Generation Console players, including the full list of Add-on layers, in next week's UK focus article.
Following our previous statements in our FAQs concerning compatible content for Epic Games players, we have some good news!

Last week we gave more details about the Leipzig-Dresden route and BR 294 Deluxe Edition locomotive. We'll talk more about Riviera Line in a future article.
In this article, we’ll dive deep into the details of the NJ TRANSIT® fleet included, as well as the ALP-45DP available in Deluxe Edition. We’ll also look at the route, schedule and service layers.
The Morristown line dates back to the lucrative 1830s, when New Jersey locals needed a connection to New York City. Born to carry people, the line accelerated in popularity among passengers, being extended to Dover by 1848. As time passed and companies merged, it became part of the many electrified lines into New York, and Hoboken Terminal, and today is a frequent commuter line operated by NJ TRANSIT®.
The route is a tale of two halves, with the dense urban environment of New York City slowly fading away into the more suburban setting of New Jersey. New York Penn is the busiest railroad station in the Western Hemisphere, located beneath the famous Madison Square Garden, serving up to 600,000 passengers per day.
The addition of Hoboken Terminal brings another thriving station to this part of the country in Train Sim World, being one of the busiest passenger terminals in North America. From here, trains head through the 1908 Bergen Tunnels, through Newark and Orange to ultimately reach Dover station.
The electrified Morristown Line heads through plenty of small-town stations with a mix of low-level and high-level platforms over a distance of 40 miles. It from these platforms that the new, audible platform announcements will be heard!
Newark Broad Street offers a place for ALP-45DP engineers to change from diesel to electric power (and vice versa) and Kearney Connection offers likewise between voltages for the ALP-46.
Of particular interest to the Dovetail Games team is the inclusion of Dover and Chatham stations, named for their equivalent towns in Kent, England. Chatham in Kent is where our headquarters are based and is featured in the TSW Compatible: Southeastern Highspeed route Add-on (available separately).
Whilst roaming the platforms listening out for new Platform Announcements, players may spot various Bridge Plate Collectibles to tidy up. In reality these are used by Conductors and railroad staff to facilitate easier access for passengers between the platforms and the trains.
Both classic and modern trains from the NJ TRANSIT® fleet feature on the Morristown Line, hosting the new Train Faults feature and Conductor Mode during services in timetable mode.
New to Train Sim World is the classic Arrow III EMU. One of the staples of the Morristown Line, this train was born to run on electrified commuter routes and is also known as the Jersey Arrow. Original designs for this fleet of electric railcars date back as far as 1968, the glory days for the Pennsylvania Railroad, although the latest 3rd generation was built in 1977.
The metal body is evocative of many other classic, American trains from history, adorned only with the NJ TRANSIT® logo and stripes plus the American flag near the cab. Hoboken Division Arrow IIIs are denoted by a 25K sticker adorned on each cab end, meaning they are setup for 25kV use, as opposed to Newark Division’s 12kV electrification.
The rudimentary cab makes this train a little tougher than the rest, with simpler controls that demand a change in approach to operating other US trains and locomotives. There is no reverser in the Arrow III cab – simply a handle that turns clockwise for forwards to the left of the engineer’s position and a brake to the right!
Also included is the modern, electric ALP-46 locomotive with MultiLevel coaches and cab car. These trains offer push-pull express runs out of New York Penn, with downbound trains hauled by the locomotive and upbound trains led by the Commuter Cab Car.
This locomotive gives experienced Train Sim World players the chance to learn the route with familiar traction, having previously been seen in the NEC: New York – Trenton route Add-on.
The MultiLevel Coaches will offer Conductor Mode gameplay and be the place for players to experience the brand-new, in-game passenger announcements, adding a further level of immersion to the Morristown Line experience, along with the adaptive passenger ambience effects, determined by passenger levels inside each coach.
Should players wish, Passenger Announcements will also be available to toggle on in the cab of the ALP-46 and ALP-45DP locomotives.
At Kearney Connection, an in-cab indicator shows a changeover of voltage type. No player input is required to react to this change.
The NJ TRANSIT® ALP-46 electric locomotive is included in Train Sim World 6’s Morristown Line route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
available in Deluxe/Special Edition
Players opting for Train Sim World 6: Deluxe Edition will be able to take the helm of the brand-new ALP-45DP locomotive on services throughout the route.
The ALP-45DP is a modern and innovative locomotive that entered service in the early 2010s. Replacing ageing diesels, it is fitted with both a pantograph, and a diesel engine for dual-mode operation; this makes the loco capable of running across New Jersey’s unelectrified lines.
In-game this changeover takes place for both AI and playable trains at Newark Broad Street. A sequence of tasks whilst stationary in service will allow the player to switch from diesel to electric and vice versa in a similar manner to how the Class 395 Javelin service operate at Ebbsfleet Internation on the UK Southeastern Highspeed route (albeit between different electric modes, rather than diesel).
The changeover is dealt with here, as Hoboken Terminal has a copper-lined roof and the raising of pantographs in real life brings with it the very real risk of arcing.
Signage is in place around the route ahead of Newark Broad Street to denote the changeover of power.
Unlike the ALP-46, the ALP-45DP is only a single-cab locomotive to make room inside for two turbocharged V12 engines, which combined are able to push and pull commuter trains away from the wires with 4200 horsepower under the hood. When making use of overhead wires, the ALP-45 can draw power from both the Morristown Division’s 25kV wires, and Newark’s 12kV setup, allowing them to operate to and from both Hoboken Terminal and New York Penn Station.
Conductor Mode will be available using the same coaches and cab car hauled by the ALP-46 locomotive. With the ALP-45DP also working real-world services to Trenton, NJ, players with the NEC: New York – Trenton route Add-on may also wish to spawn the locomotive there in timetable mode.
The ALP-45DP loco Add-on will be available to purchase separately once Train Sim World 6 has released on 30th September.
Included for all Train Sim World 6 players (including Free Starter Pack players) is an unbranded SD40-2 locomotive in Training Center. This locomotive is not used in Morristown Line, but can be spawned in Free Roam on the route if desired.
Its inclusion allows new players of USA content to get familiar with American train operations.
New to Train Sim World 6 is the introduction of Train Faults and Random Events, ensuring that no two services are ever the same!
These toggleable features will keep players on their toes, with signal delays and issues with the trains themselves resulting in the need to react and work through solutions as guided by the in-game prompts.
Train Faults will occur in the form of Wiper Failures and Lighting Failures.
These faults can be easily reset. Players will get a pop up when a fault occurs so that they can then take the necessary action to clear it. Some of these may require a breaker to be reset.
Temporary Speed Restriction signs will appear beside the track to give a visual indication of where speed restrictions start and end.
The HUD will also react to these restrictions, giving you a clearer guide as to when you need to slow down to comply with the restrictions.
Signal Delays in particular will require engineers to keep alert and adapt to any aspects that aren’t typical of that section. You might be waitin’ on a sunny day as changes slowly begin to affect the schedule and if you should fall behind, further signals down the line might compound the affect on your service.
This will be particularly important for those playing with ATC, ACSES and Alerter safety systems enabled.
You can find out more about these in our previous Features Article.
The types of services available to operate in service mode include:
Newark Division trains using the ALP-46 and Arrow III that run onto the Northeast Corridor. There are also depot movements to Sunnyside Yard included.
Hoboken Division trains using the Arrow III that run to Summit and Dover, including Hoboken–Gladstone services running as far Dover.
ALP-46 services running New York Penn to Dover, with some services going to Hoboken.
Loco-hauled ALP-45DP services running from Hoboken to Dover, then travelling out of the map to destinations at Denville, Mount Olive, Lake Hopatcong and Hackettstown (Deluxe Edition / ALP-45DP players only).
With the ALP-45DP, Hoboken - Dover services are split in two. From Hoboken to Newark Broad Street these services will run on diesel power. Players will then switch to electric and continue the rest of journey to Dover under OHLE power.
AI Arrow III services, representing the 12kV trains, will be running in and out of the map at New York Penn, but will not encroach onto the Morristown Line.
All of the above are included in a schedule covering all times of day, including the night shift meaning once you’re up to speed with the controls of the new trains, you can prove it all night!
Additional playable and AI layers will be available for players with the following TSW: Compatible Add-ons:
Playable ACS-64 depot movements using NEC: New York-Trenton
Playable Amtrak’s Acela® depot moves
AI services at New York Penn using both of the above Add-ons
AI traffic from LIRR Commuter at New York Penn
We initially alluded to the existence of AI or Static freight layers in a previous article. We regret that these have not been implemented into the schedule for launch.
Players with Sand Patch Grade can consider using Free Roam to spawn and operate CSX freight trains and switching operations in yards that exist on the route.
Get prepared by grabbing some of the relevant Add-ons to activate layers on Steam! These discounts are available until 1800 BST on 22nd September.
The Add-ons on sale are:

After reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetable to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).
No additional AI service layers will appear in the schedule for these platforms. All ALP-46 services have been removed. The ALP-46 will still be available to play in Scenarios.
A total of 8 Scenarios are available in Morristown Line: 5 for the route and 3 more with the ALP-45DP in Deluxe Edition. These are set in a range of times and weather conditions, with ALP-45DP Scenarios utilizing both diesel and electric power modes.

See our event below and tune into the first-ever live showcase of Train Sim World 6!
For our German-speaking audience, be sure to join our ambassador TrainSimPlay and our developer Lukas for a second preview of Leipzig-Dresden this week on Sunday (14th) evening, starting at 18:00 CEST, this will be hosted on TrainSimPlay's YouTube channel, with the primary language in German!
Each week until launch, we’ll be giving further details about each of the 3 routes, the trains and Deluxe Edition loco Add-ons.
On top of this we’ll outline gameplay elements such as the timetable and layers as well as give further context about the history of the real-world railways.
We start with the longest of the three routes: Leipzig – Dresden. Further details on the Morristown (USA) and Riviera (UK) Lines, will be published in the coming weeks.
Go beyond the boundaries of Nahverkehr Dresden and accelerate westbound all the way to Leipzig in Train Sim World 6. Drive modern ICE, regional and freight traffic along the oldest long-distance railway in Germany.
Built in 1839, the Leipzig-Dresden railway was the first long-distance line in Germany, and one of the oldest in the country. Over time the line earned a reputation for being one of the busiest as well, and its age meant it has seen many improvements to keep up with demand. Today, it is a modern commuter network and LZB-equipped intercity line in one.
Fast services beat the regional traffic through the use of separate lines that each take a different path through the Saxony countryside, and the outskirts of Dresden are served by frequent commuter services.
Though seasoned Train Sim World players may feel that they know half this route already from the Dresden – Riesa Add-on, the doubling of length to Leipzig and addition of the Dresden - Coswig line more than doubles the possible gameplay and services available across the expanded route in Train Sim World 6. The total route length is 160 km!
Key additions to the route include:
NEW 65 km extension from Riesa to Leipzig, including 20 NEW Stations
NEW addition of 13 km Dresden-Coswig line
NEW Friedrichstadt Marshalling Yard
NEW green stripe variant of the DB BR 411 ICE-T
NEW Platform & Passenger Announcements
NEW Random Events in service mode
NEW Train Faults
Updated DB BR 442 featuring Suspension Updates
Dresden-Riesa Entitlement preserving layers for other TSW routes
All players of Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden will receive entitlements to the previously released Dresden – Riesa route Add-on, adding even more trains to their roster and preserving service layers applicable to other European routes in their collection.
The old Dresden – Riesa route Add-on will not be available to purchase separately for Train Sim World 6.
There is a wide variety of trains and locomotives included in the Leipzig - Dresden route, covering a range of services. High-speed, local, S-bahn, freight and shunting gameplay is all catered for, with additional trains available courtesy of the Dresden – Riesa entitlement that all owners of Leipzig – Dresden will receive.
available in Deluxe/Special Edition
The BR 294, originally known as the V 90 series, were built in the 1960s & 70s as heavy shunting locomotives. Their weight and power made them suitable for shunting long trains, but also transporting wagons between different locations. In the 1990s a fleet overhaul saw 290 locos rebuilt & reclassified as the BR 294.
Despite their age, and with multiple locos retired in favour of newer traction, many 294s can still be found working today, holding onto local train duties and preparing long-distance freight for mainline traction to take onward. Their continuing commonality has made them a familiar sight across the length of Germany’s oldest long-distance railway.
In Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden, the BR 294 will work to assemble freight consists in the various yards along the 160km route, with some main line running moving trains between facilities. Given their prominence across Germany, players will get further use out of this locomotive by spawning it into timetable mode in other Train Sim World routes.
The BR 294 comes equipped with PZB and Sifa. There is also a Throttle Lock that players will need to be mindful of when operating, which is highlighted by the Driver Assist prompts. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.
The DB BR 294 loco Add-on will be available to purchase separately once Train Sim World 6 has released on 30th September.
Returning to Train Sim World’s ICE fleet is the DB BR 411 ICE-T, complete with its impressive GNT technology!
ICE-T units have been in service across Germany since 1999, adding a different style of train to that of the ICE 1. The ICE-T's tilting function, which can reach a maximum of 8 degrees, allows them to travel at higher speeds that conventional trains. A separate system in place to monitor this and needs to be enabled in order for the tilting to take place.
This system, GNT, works with other safety systems like PZB, LZB and Sifa to ensure safe operation across the Frankfurt–Fulda route. The GNT system needs to be turned on in order for tilting to work. This is a manual process done by the player.
Due to the nature of the Leipzig - Dresden route, the GNT system is less relevant than on the previously released Frankfurt – Fulda route.
This DB BR 411 ICE-T comes in a new variant with a green stripe depicting DB’s “Das ist grün” campaign.
The DB BR 411 ICE-T is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
The new generation BR 442 ‘Talent 2’ was built by Bombardier and introduced in 2009, the successor to the ‘Talent’ this was put in to service by Deutsche Bahn to replace older EMU types and loco-hauled trains on both S-Bahn and Regio services.
The variant in Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden has been updated to include in-game Suspension.
The BR 442 comes equipped with PZB and Sifa. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.
The DB BR 442 EMU is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route.
Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
The modular TRAXX locomotives from Bombardier have become one of Europe’s most widespread family of locomotives and includes the BR 185.5! Bombardier’s TRAXX (Transnational Railway Applications with Extreme Flexibility) is a modular product platform of electric and diesel-electric locomotives.
The BR 185.5’s had a top speed of 140km/h (87mph) and operated as a general-purpose freight locomotive. More than 300 BR 185.5 locomotives were built and sold to various train operators, including leasing companies, throughout Europe, including Switzerland, France and Germany.
The MRCE variant of the BR 185 is also included with the Dresden – Riesa route entitlement.
The DB BR 185 electric locomotive is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
Further passenger services can also be operated by the BR 146.2, as previously seen in the Frankfurt – Fulda and Main-Spessart Bahn route Add-ons. These more modern electric locomotives will add yet more variety to the timetable and an alterative setting in which operate passenger trains.
This locomotive is a modern, speedy, passenger-oriented example of motive power. In the early 2000s Deutsche Bahn placed an order for 47 passenger locomotives, these would follow in the footsteps of previous designs, such as the 185.2, combined with older passenger variants to provide a modern counterpart, known as the DB BR 146.2.
Being passenger-focused, the 146.2 features a higher top speed than the 185.2 and is also equipped with destination board equipment as well as push-pull capability, allowing it to be driven from a control car.
The BR 146 comes equipped with LZB, AFB, PZB and Sifa. You can learn more about the operation of German railway safety systems in the Training Center.
The DB BR 146.2 electric locomotive is included in Train Sim World 6’s Bahnstrecke Leipzig – Dresden route. Players do not need to own previously released content to access this train.
The inclusion of the Dresden – Riesa entitlement for all players of Train Sim World 6 Standard, Deluxe and Special Edition means that additional trains will also be available to operate.
These are:
DB BR 143
DB BR 363 ‘V 60’ Shunter
New to Train Sim World 6 is the introduction of Train Faults and Random Events, ensuring that no two services are ever the same!
These toggleable features will keep players on their toes, with signal delays and issues with the trains themselves resulting in the need to react and work through solutions as guided by the in-game prompts.
Train Faults will occur in the form of Wiper Failures and Lighting Failures.
These faults can be easily reset. Players will get a pop up when a fault occurs so that they can then take the necessary action to clear it. Some of these may require a breaker to be reset.
Signal Delays will once again be something to consider when playing with the Random Events enabled. At Dresden, both HL and KS types of signalling are in use and looking out for any atypical aspects will keep players on their toes!
This of course will also impact those playing with LZB, AFB and PZB systems enabled, resulting in the need to react further to alerts or have the LZB system reduce train speeds as necessary.
An extensive and complex timetable has been implemented into not only to make full use of the variety of trains from within the route, but also those from the wider German content back catalogue. This includes layering using multiple Add-ons.
The types of services available to operate in Leipzig - Dresden include:
ICE-T express traffic between Dresden and Leipzig, using the avoiding line in the East and LZB in the West.
Regional services (RE50, RB31, RE15, RE18) with the BR 442, which also operates local services towards Großenhain and forms AI traffic at Leipzig and Riesa.
BR 143 hauled Dostos operating peak S1 and all S2 services.
BR 146 hauled Dostos operating S1 and RE50 services.
Multiple paths from Dresden to Riesa, followed by a high-speed dash to Leipzig.
Freight trains using the BR 185 serving industries and the large Friedrichstadt yard, including loco swaps and trains heading out of the map toward Czechia.
BR 363 shunting services, available via the Dresden-Riesa entitlement
Deluxe / Special Edition players (or those that purchase the loco Add-on separately) will also be able to operate BR 294 shunting and local freight services.
An overview of Additional Service Layers is as follows:
BR 1442 trains from the Rapid Transit Add-on offering playable S4 services from Leipzig and AI traffic
BR 642 trains using the Maintalbahn Add-on offering playable and AI services
BR 218 hauled services using n-Wagen stock offering playable services and AI traffic at Leipzig
ICE 1 trains from the Kassel-Würzburg route Add-on adding AI traffic at Leipzig
The original DB BR 101 Add-on (with Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr) running playable IC and EC services, including loco swaps at Dresden that can utilise the Railpool BR 193 locomotive
BR 612 AI traffic at Dresden from the Tharandter Rampe route Add-on
BR 103 playable rail tour from the Linke Rheinstrecke Add-on
In addition, static stock that rotates throughout the year (by changing the in-game month) will appear at Leipzig Hbf Platform 24 featuring trains from a wider range of Add-ons, including the E94 railtour pack from TSG. This represents the ‘Museum Platform’ which in reality also rotates a series of historic rolling stock.
As is typical of German routes in Train Sim World, playable locomotive substitutions for both freight and passenger services are available for players with additional content in their collection. This includes the Railpool Vectron, PRESS BR 155, and more.
Get prepared by grabbing some of the relevant Add-ons at 60% off to activate the above layers on Steam! These discounts are available until 1800 BST on 15th September.
The Add-ons on sale are:
For this sale, the Train Sim World 5 versions of the Add-ons have discounts applied. Purchasing these will entitle players to the Train Sim World 6 Compatible version of the Add-ons at no extra charge.
After reviewing performance on previous-generation consoles, we've amended the timetable to provide a suitable experience for these players (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).
There will be a selection of 5 Scenarios on Leipzig – Dresden, with an additional 3 Scenarios available for those with the BR 294 including in Train Sim World 6: Deluxe/Special Editions.

There are loads of things to be looking forward to, with new routes, new trains and some interesting new features to keep players on their toes. In this article, we’ll be guiding you through 6 key things to look out for come launch day on 30th September 2025!
In Train Sim World 6, you’ll be able to head to the Settings menu and set Random Events to ‘Enabled’. This will set live two different kinds of events to occur randomly during your journey.
Sometimes, signals aren’t automated. They’re operated by real signallers in real signal boxes! As a result, not all signal changes are instant. With Random Events enabled, some signals may take longer to clear than expected. You may be held in platform for longer that you’d hoped or will need to keep an eye on what you expected a signal to display.
The order of trains may alter. You may get stuck behind a train that’s overtaken you, or vice versa, further disrupting the signalling order that you might have expected normally.
This is key for players who operate their trains with Safety Systems enabled. PZB and LZB in Germany, AWS and TPWS in the UK as well as ACSES and ATC system in the USA all react to the signal aspects and knock-on effects with signal delays may result in other unexpected aspects during your journey. If you’re playing Riviera Line, remember to switch that DRA on if there’s a red at the end of the platform... just to remind you to check the signal aspect before you depart!
The other Random Event is the enforcement of Temporary Speed Restrictions. In reality, these are put in place to guard against track work or infrastructure considerations and are often denoted by temporary signs placed by the trackside.
Signs will appear beside the track to give a visual indication of where any restrictions start and end.
The HUD will also react to these restrictions, giving you a clearer guide as to when you need to slow down to comply with the restrictions.
After reviewing the complexities of adding non-authentic assets to certain routes (i.e. modern-day assets on a historic route, or German signage appearing on a Dutch route, for example), we will just be implementing this for launch on TSW6 routes and will review opportunities to add to older content in future.
Get ready to fight gremlins in Train Sim World 6! Ok, not literally. But with the Train Faults option toggled to ‘Enabled’ a selection of equipment failures will occur at random within trains that are included in Train Sim World 6, including:
Wiper failures
Lighting Failures
Titling Failures (on trains with tilting systems)
Turbo failures (on trains with turbo systems)
When a failure occurs, a pop-up will appear on screen that explains the fault and gives guidance on how you can overcome it. This may require you to vacate the seat and go looking for a breaker or fuse to reset, adding a significant delay to your service or your passengers!
Once enabled any one of the relevant faults for your train could occur AT ANY TIME, or even... not at all! As a result, no two journeys might ever end up the same.
We heard you like Announcements, so in July, we announced when we'd be announcing. Then, as part of our big announcement we decided to Announce: Announcements!
Yes, you heard right! Full implementation of on-board passenger and platform announcements are finally here in Train Sim World 6, adding a significant piece to the big immersion puzzle. You can now enjoy an audible feast of varied service patterns and station stops from beyond the cab, whether checking tickets with the public in coaches using Conductor Mode or roaming about the platforms hunting down Route Task Collectibles.
But how do these work? We’ve got a handy video from a busy morning at Exeter on the Riviera Line that depicts how Announcements add that extra layer of immersion during timetabled services.
Generic announcements have been a feature in previous Train Sim World routes. In TSW6, a significant amount of work has gone into converting the dedicated PIS (Passenger Information System) data into an audible format. Up until now, this data has primarily served the display of dynamic information boards on platforms and within the stations themselves.
The result is a formulaic announcement for each and every train arriving in the brand new routes for Train Sim World 6. Busy stations like Exeter St Davids, Hoboken and Leipzig Hbf will have a cacophony of callouts detailing the arrival and departures of express trains, local trains and their final destinations for you to hear amongst the hubbub of railway passenger life.
But what about in cab? Those of you in the know might figure that drivers and engineers don't really experience the joy of announcements - after all, they have other things to be mindful of!
So we've been a bit sneaky. An optional, toggleable speaker inside the cab has been implemented in the Settings Menu, so that anyone wanting to hear announcements whilst they're at the helm can do so! If you'd prefer the pure operating experience, switch it off and concentrate on those signal delays and speed restrictions. Train Sim World 6 is all about dealing with the unexpected - so maybe some distractions in the cab are something you want!
Whether you’re a long-time Train Sim World fan, with dozens of Add-ons in your collection, or a new player looking to add more trains and gameplay to your Train Sim World 6 experience, then layers are something you’ll want to make use of.
Service layers take trains from other Add-ons in your collection and places them within a set timetable, making gameplay sessions busier and offering more playable services for a specific route.
In Train Sim World 6, all additional service layers will initially be defaulted to ‘Off’ when players first start their game. A prompt will appear, giving players the option to head to the Settings Menu, where layers can be curated for the best playing experience. There will be an option to turn all layers back to ‘On’ permanently, for players that wish to do so.
The Layer Selector feature that was first introduced in Train Sim World 5, remains a feature in Train Sim World 6. This allows players to alter the layers for a specific route in the train selection screen. You can also view unavailable layers, to determine what additional content you might need to purchase to unlock them.
This feature has been updated in Train Sim World 6 so that the number of layers enabled ‘saves’ between sessions. A counter will indicate how many layers are enabled from the maximum available for that timetable (including layers that the player may not own). ENABLE ALL and DISABLE ALL options are now also available.
All three routes in Train Sim World 6 will feature playable or AI layers from previous Train Sim World Add-ons. We will detail these further in each of the route-themed articles published in the coming weeks.
These articles will include:
Add-ons required to see freight trains operate on Morristown Line,
Add-ons supporting playable steam trains, freight and classic diesel traction for Riviera Line,
A full suite of additional layers for Leipzig-Dresden from a host of German Add-ons,
As a note, some services may not be available for players on 8th Generation console platforms.
Here’s something you might like to know about some of the trains included in TSW6:
The DB BR 411 ICE-T comes in a new variant with a green stripe depicting DB’s “Das ist grün” campaign.
The NEW DB BR 294 can be used as both a shunting and freight locomotive.
The NEW GWR Class 802 has a full power diesel engine, with overhead line functionality included for use on electrified routes.
The GWR Class 150/2 has a full suite of authentic sound recordings that will also be applied to the TfW Class 150 for TSW6 players with Cardiff City Network.
The NEW CrossCountry Class 220 Voyager will layer in the post-launch WCML: Birmingham-Crewe route by All Aboard Studios.
The NEW NJ TRANSIT® Arrow III has no reverser! The power handle on the left simply turns clockwise for forwards, or counterclockwise for reverse, with a separate brake handle on the right.
The NEW NJ TRANSIT® ALP-45DP is dual powered, with a fully functioning diesel engine and pantograph for overhead wires.
What’s better than the new trains and new routes coming in Train Sim World 6? Well... even more new content coming afterwards of course! Highlights Include:
Stuttgart Heilbronn featuring the new DB BR 140
NEC: New York-Stamford
Lisbon-Setúbal from VirtuaVia360, the first Portuguese route in TSW
Liberec – Stará Paka from Vector Simulations, the first Czech route in TSW
Tadami Line from Union Workshop, the first Japanese route in TSW
WCML: Crewe–Preston from Just Trains

Hello everyone - Welcome back to the second part of the TSW August 2025 roadmap! This time we'll be shifting our focus away from the core content coming with TSW6's launch, and looking ahead at the releases you can expect to come in the months beyond, from our wonderful range of partner programme developers, and a couple releases with the Dovetail Games team.
In case you missed it, here's a link to our TSW6 Roadmap yesterday, and some other helpful links that you may find useful:
This article will feature all-new information and details directly from each developer on their new add-ons, which hopefully gets you all excited for the future!
This article will feature a selection of images to suit the Steam formatting, but for all the screenshots and text, please read our full TSW6 Future Roadmap - August 2025 article on our DTL website.
Let's start with the 8 announcements from the Take A Ticket show this year:
Officially announced as the first route add-on coming to Train Sim World 6, and the debut add-on for the All Aboard Studios into TSW, get ready to travel across a new section of the WCML!
AABS: "All Aboard for something special. Our first official release for Train Sim World takes you straight into the modern main line action of the West Midlands and North West with WCML Birmingham to Crewe – a fast paced, electrified corridor packed with energy, contrast and realism."
"This is the West Coast Main Line as it operates in the 21st Century. Your journey begins at Birmingham New Street, Britain’s busiest station outside London. From the deep platforms beneath the city, just two electrified lines carry you north, climbing out into the open air and into the heart of the Black Country."
"What follows is a powerful sequence of locations that define the region’s railway identity. As you pass through Smethwick, Dudley and Oldbury, the industrial heartbeat of the Black Country pulses around you. Then comes Wolverhampton. You rise above the city, sweeping across rooftops and see the iconic football ground in the distance before arriving at the high level platforms of this key interchange. Here, lines from Shrewsbury, Stafford, Bescot and Birmingham all converge, making Wolverhampton one of the most operationally significant points on the route."
"North of Wolverhampton, the scene transforms. The city noise fades, and you enter the broad rural landscape of Staffordshire. The run into Stafford brings open track, steady gradients and clear skies. It is here you join the core of the West Coast Main Line. Every detail has been built to reflect the current-day infrastructure."
"Your final approach into Crewe is a railway experience in itself. Long known as a major hub in the national network, Crewe features wide sweeping platforms, complex track layouts and operational detail at every turn. It is a fitting end point for a route defined by pace, presence and purpose."
The Class 350 Desiro is your main traction for the journey. This familiar and trusted unit appears here in all three subclasses – 350/1, 350/2 and 350/3 – each delivered with its own distinct livery, just as they would have been seen in 2019. From interior layouts to visual features and branding, every variation has been recreated for full immersion."
"Adding an extra layer of personality to the route is 350235, wearing its unique British Transport Police livery. You will see this eye catching unit throughout your drives, appearing across the timetable as it follows its real world diagram. There are more than 350 playable services waiting in timetable mode. With a full weekday of operations represented, you will take on everything from first light commuter runs to mid afternoon stoppers and evening express services. Whether running non stop from Wolverhampton to Crewe or stopping at every station from Birmingham northwards, every journey offers something different."
"The route is filled with detail. From football stadiums at Wolverhampton and Crewe, to hand placed industrial and residential scenery in Soho, Oldbury and Stafford, this is a railway environment that feels lived in. Almost 100 bespoke bridges have been created, custom overhead line equipment installed throughout, and every station built using real references from the period. WCML Birmingham to Crewe is more than just a railway line. It is a living network, shaped by the people, places and trains that use it every day."
We can't wait to get this add-on in all of your hands, and it won't be too long until we're hopping on our first preview event with the AABS development team. Stay tuned for more information, and keep reading for a second brand-new announcement from the AABS further on in this article!
We love introducing all new teams to our TSW partner programme, and today we're lucky to have two developers to share with you all! Let's start with Vector Simulations, who will be taking TSW to Czechia for the first time!
Vector Simulations: "Our first Czech Add-on for Train Sim World will accurately represent the route 030 from Liberec to Stará Paka, measuring 80 km with single track and based around the year 2018. The route is technically and visually very diverse, traverses multiple deep valleys with high viaducts and goes through 8 tunnels - In some parts, you can even drive 100 km/h! Thanks to this, it offers not only interesting driving profiles and gradients, but also a visually attractive environment. You can also find historical Hrubý Rohozec castle near Turnov."
"You will also drive class 750 - commonly nicknamed “Googles” due to its characteristic look - with some freight service. Climb steep hills with heavy trains, sometimes with single locomotive, other times with two or even with a banking locomotive. Explore a detailed model of the engine room and feel the characteristic scent of diesel and 1970s. The Class 750 will also feature four different liveries, VO67 radiostation, LS IV safety system, support of multiple-engine driving and a banking locomotive."
The new country list keeps growing, thank you to the Vector Simulations team for their details on the first Czech route arriving soon to TSW, how about we catch a flight to another new location?
As the second of our new partner developers, let's meet VirtuaVia360, who will also be bringing TSW to a whole new country, with the first Portugese route coming to TSW6! Let's meet the team behind the route:
Virtuavia360: "We’re Virtuavia360, a Portuguese company that has game developers and train enthusiasts, bringing the first ever Portuguese routes to Train Sim World. We are really excited to join the 3rd Party Program at Dovetail, to bring our vision and work to Train Sim World"
"Embark on a stunning 54km journey from Lisbon's bustling hubs to the outer commuter suburbs. Take in amazing views of the Tejo river, the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge, and the picturesque landscape of the Setúbal peninsula. This add-on is recreated with outstanding detail of the commuter rail experience across 14 stations, featuring the 3500 Series EMU and a true-to-life timetable."
"The route will also feature complete Portuguese signaling and safety systems, a faithfully recreated timetable according to real world information, and it will be the first add-on to introduce the 1668mm gauge to TSW!"
Now, coming from our teams at Dovetail, we're excited to announce we're heading back to the NEC with more local New York freight!
Get ready for a choice between the Metro North and Northeat Corrdior routes, as you set off from Grand Central or New York Penn on the way to Stamford in the brand new Metro North M8 locomotive!
We're not ready to share development screenshots yet, but take a look at what you can expect in this hand-crafted route map from our Marketing Coordinator, James!
We're winding back the clock to the 2000s era, with another German route coming from our teams at Dovetail Games!
Get your hands on over 50km of Southwest Germany, featuring a mix of big freight yards and fields, and an extremely busy timetable to manage!
And whilst we're early in development, we have a couple WIP models to share today for both the new Wittenberger Steuerwagen and BR 140 locomotive included in the add-on! Please note, the colours on these WIP models are purely added for our artists to better understand proportions during development.
And of course, enjoy a Stuttgart-Heilbronn route map!
We premiered the first glance of the highly anticipated Tadami Line gameplay on the Dovetail Direct this year, which is available to view on our TSW6 channel.
Union Workshop: "The Tadami Line runs along the Tadami River, and its charm lies in the magnificent scenery of the changing seasons. The train passes through many bridges and tunnels heads to Oku-Aizu. The scenery outside the window is refreshing. Many domestic and foreign photographers come here to capture this breathtaking scenery. It was even selected as the top of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Autumn Leaves Railways" by a national media."
"The areas along the line not only have beautiful natural scenery but also nurture unique local culture. One of the pleasures of the journey is to immerse yourself in the nostalgic scenery and experience the daily life intertwined with legends and stories. The Tadami Line inherits the history of the mountain village, the food culture, and the exquisite craftsmanship, and continues to protect people's reunion and separation. Don't forget to get a craft called Akabeko as a souvenir, which will feature as collectibles in-game!"
"In TSW Tadami Line, we are offering the classic Kiha40 DMU. The Kiha40 DMU was once one of the most common diesel trains in Japan. The Tadami Line started operating Kiha40 in 1979 and all trains were retired in July 2020. We offer three classic liveries, including Tohoku local colors, National Railways orange, and Niigata colors."
For those of you looking for a challenge, and hoping to get the most-detailed level of simulation that TSW can offer, get ready for the second-ever Expert loco coming from the TSG team, following the success of their first Expert loco release - coming soon is the Expert DB BR 145!
Featuring a DB & RBH livery, all new expert level features, and new T3000e container wagons, this expert loco add-on will be something to keep an eye on! We have some inital WIP screenshots to share today, but please note, these represent work-in-progress development snapshots, are will not be reflective of the final add-on.
Finally, to end our Take A Ticket announcements - let's hear about the newest route coming from the Just Trains team!
Just Trains: "This busy section located in North-West England includes the historic railway town of Crewe, as well as a multitude of branches which will allow you to explore a number of lesser-known areas, such as the Deepdale branch north of Preston. With varying speed limits and track arrangements you'll constantly be adjusting to the line ahead whether you're driving a 100mph express or a 45mph freight. This immersive route will take you back to an era when the West Coast Main Line was truly alive with a huge variety of traffic."
"Take charge of the powerful electric Class 86/4 Locomotive on high-speed Passenger and Freight runs between Preston and Crewe. Drive the upgraded Class 20/0 with numerous external improvements including a Headcode box variant. A star feature is its all-new slow speed control for precision merry go round coal operations. Enjoy the much-improved Class 47/3, a brand-new subclass, which along with external changes and cab modifications also features the slow-speed control operation which can used when moving the brand-new HAA coal hoppers and upgraded HEA’s which includes a new livery and enhanced weathering. The HEA’s were used on household coal duties. For passenger operations the Mk2d corridor coaches are supplied in TSO, BFK and FK variants along with a Mk1 NEA and RBR Restaurant Buffet car."
"Set in 1986 the route has our most intensive and varied Timetable to-date, featuring a wealth of passenger services, postal trains, end to end freight trains, shunting operations and light engine moves, along with excursions, all merging to provide a wealth of variety. Tackle the challenge of running Merry-Go-Round Coal trains from both Bickershaw and Parkside collieries to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. Of course, you will be able to route-hop to join up with the other Just Trains routes making Crewe-Preston a valuable addition to your West Coast routes library."
Get ready for another reveal today, with the Class 805 add-on coming from our new TSW development partners at All Aboard Studios!
AABS: "All aboard for a modern main line experience. Developed by All Aboard Studios, the brand new BR Class 805 is arriving in Train Sim World, bringing with it cutting edge design, authentic operation and the excitement of next generation intercity travel."
"Introduced in 2024 by Avanti West Coast, the Class 805 is a five car bi mode unit that can switch between electric and diesel power. It was designed to replace the ageing Super Voyagers and now runs services from London Euston to destinations across the Midlands, North Wales and beyond. With quieter traction, lower emissions and a fresh, modern interior, the 805 is built for the future of rail."
"In Train Sim World, the train has been recreated with precision and care, based on real world references and operational knowledge. From the clean lines of the Avanti livery to the modern cab packed with interactive features, every detail has been considered. All sounds have been refreshed using direct recordings from the Hitachi AT300 fleet, provided by the excellent SamTSM, delivering a rich and immersive audio experience that brings the train to life."
The BR Class 805 is coming soon to Train Sim World. Are you ready to take the controls? Stay tuned for more information in the coming months, and we look forward to sharing new screenshots and details from the AABS team!
TSG have a new update from the DB BR 420 loco add-on since their original announcement, discussing new details and features coming with the release. Let's hear it from their team:
"The other two are for the newly announced DTG route Stuttgart-Heilbronn. Since that route plays around the year 2000 we decided to have a further traffic red one of that older train to better fit the route. Both liveries were running there at that time. Technically, not much has been changed with the new variants. Of course, the "retro" versions will not have LZB or EBuLa and are equipped with the older style radio."
Let's hear again from the Just Trains team, this time on their already announced TfW Class 142 loco add-on, coming soon to Train Sim World 6!
Just Trains: "The Class 142 Pacer was the de-facto commuter unit from 1985 to 2020 across many routes in the UK. The 142 series was British Rails attempt to produce a low-cost unit for the railways and was literally based on a road bus chassis which meant that it had no separate bogies, having the axles bolted directly to the chassis rails."
"The Just Trains TfW Class 142 Pacer not only features these livery transformations but includes numerous changes both internally and externally to bring the unit up to being period correct. Externally the upgrades include the 2-door bi-fold entry/exit door, LED headlights, sanding unit along with numerous other small details."
"Internally there is a new seat design and layout featuring a new authentic maquette. In the upgraded cab there is a GSMR radio, operational DRA and TPWS along with other functional enhancements overall. Hear the custom created announcements spoken by a native Welshman as you arrive at the stations. Designed for use in the Dovetail Cardiff Network route, the Just Trains TfW Class 142 features an additional timetable which is set in 2019 and takes advantage of other DLC that you own including the Rivet Games WMR & XC Class 170 Pack."
Let's check back in with the High Iron Simulation team, who are close to releasing their Santa Fe Gameplay Pack for the Cajon Pass route.
High Iron Simulations: "The pack will bring Santa Fe railroading of the early 1990s to California’s famed Cajon Pass route and feature two notable locomotives, the workhorse AT&SF Electro-Motive SD40-2 in blue-and-yellow freight colors, and the powerful Santa Fe General Electric C40-8W in the railroad’s legendary “warbonnet” red-and-silver livery."
"Freight equipment will be highlighted by three all-new types of freight cars: A Santa Fe two-bay cement covered hopper, Santa Fe three-bay ribbed-side covered hopper, and an example of the iconic 86-foot auto parts boxcar."
"The pack promises a robust – and authentic – operating experience. More than 250 timetable services and five scenarios will feature mainline intermodal and freight trains, switching, and locals. The services are closely based on actual Santa Fe freight schedules of the era. Additionally, Union Pacific freight action on Cajon Pass will be represented in an extra layer using UP equipment from the Sherman Hill route Add-on."
Finally, to end our Partner Programme updates section, let's check in with Liam fromm Grump Dog Games, famous across the community for their work on the West Somerset Remaster, and get the latest as they take on a new add-on, and continue work on their upcoming remaster.
What is the HST Farewell Tour pack?
Liam: "The HST Farewell pack is made as a tribute to the HST’s final years in service with GWR as well as a celebration of 200 years of modern railways. The pack includes some of the most iconic liveries worn by the GWR Class 43’s along with expanding the gameplay with new features, such as manual coupling, toilet flushing on the Mk3 coaches and Mk1 HST barrier coaches for stock moves."
What features does the HST Farewell pack include?
The pack includes multiple Class 43 power cars, each with unique liveries, nameplates and numbering. The included power car designs are:
Class 43 power car 43002 ‘Sir Kenneth Grange’ (BR Blue and Yellow with nameplate)
Class 43 power car 43093 ‘Old Oak Common’ (GWR Green with OOC vinyl & nameplate)
Class 43 power car 43185 ‘Great Western’ (InterCity Swallow with nameplate)
Class 43 power car 43187 & 43188 ‘Welshman’ (GWR Green with white dragon vinyl)
Class 43 power car 43188 ‘Welshman’ (GWR Green with yellow dragon vinyl)
Class 43 power cars (GWR Green with vinyl ‘GWR’ logo)
Class 43 power cars (GWR Green unbranded)
"Also included is a Mk1 HST Barrier Coach in both blue and green liveries. These coaches have both buckeye and hook coupler types, allowing players to perform stock moves between the HST’s and a wide range of stock in TSW. Players will also be able to hand place end of train lamps on the Class 43s, Mk3 coaches and the barrier coaches."
GWE Remaster developments since the last update
Liam: "Both the HST Farewell pack and GWE Remaster are coming along great and should hopefully be in the hands of players later this year. Work has also started on the next addon by Grump Dog Games but that’s all I can share at this time."
Just take a look at this fantastic before and after shot for the GWR Remaster!
As we wrap up the second of our TSW6 Roadmaps, I wanted to address some of the top areas and questions we're getting from across the community, so that we can help support you all as we approach the release of Train Sim World 6.
Q: Is Caltrain Content returning to TSW?
Yes! Within the first month after Train Sim World 6 launches, we’ll release unbranded versions of the following add-ons. If you already own the Caltrain-branded versions, you’ll be able to download the unbranded versions for free on the same platform and account.
Peninsular Corridor: San Francisco – San Jose
MP36PH-3C Baby Bullet
MP15DC Diesel Switcher
Q: Will there be Regional Bundles this year?
For TSW6's launch, we won't have the Regional bundles we've created for past TSW titles, simply because the Free Starter Pack now offers an easier method to claim these bundles, and it helps us simplify our store pages by reducing the volume of options available to players.
After the full launch on September 30th, you can gain access to TSW6 by claiming the Free Starter Pack, and then purchase any of the three core routes/deluxe locos as separate add-ons, which should offer you the same outcome as our regional bundles would, and hopefully make it an easier experience to understand.
Please see our Purchasing TSW6 FAQs for more store-related questions & answers.
Q: What is compatible with Train Sim World 6 on the Epic Games Store?
Regretfully, we will not be able to make all Epic Games compatible content add-ons available for players upon release. The Epic Games Store will only support a curated selection of the most played compatible content. Therefore, you may not be able to access everything you purchased in previous games. However, access to any content you have already purchased will remain in the game you purchased it for.
View the list of compatible content for the Epic Games Store .
We appreciate this will be frustrating for Epic players, and at present, we can’t provide a timeframe for when this content might be available on TSW6 – if at all. Please assume, for the purposes of where we are right now, the list as it stands is what will be available. We are working closely with Epic and our teams to support the best experience for players on this platform, and will let you know when we have anything new to report.
Q: Can you tell us more about the TSW6 Core Features?
We've seen lots of questions from across the community about how the new core features are implemented, and how they will interact with previous TSW compatible content.
Find a full breakdown of our answers in the Core Feature FAQs.
We'll also be diving into more details for the Core Features in new articles coming next week and onwards, and we'll be able to show you them in action during our preview livestreams coming up throughout the month. (See below for a streaming summary)
Q: What will happen with the PC Editor?
Our teams are continuing our work on the Train Sim World PC Editor, and we will be looking to find opportunities to implement the updates we've been dicussing over the last few months, including the Mod Manager feature.
We'll aim to confirm more information soon about how we'll be rolling out the new version of the Editor to support TSW6, alongside these updates, when we have more news.
Please see our full TSW6 FAQs for answers to many more questions.
We're getting ready to show you all TSW6 in action, with upcoming previews and articles that hopefully answer all of your questions, provide details on layers & more each week, as well as upcoming chances to see the content ahead of Early Access and Launch on September 30th 2025.
Alongside our Train Sim World 6 previews and livestreams happening across the next few weeks, join us for a special livestream event to celebrate Railway 200!
Happening in exactly one month from now during the Train Sim World 6 early access weekend, Railway 200 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, changing transportation across the world forever.
Exec Producer of Trains, Matt, and Senior Community Manager, Alex, will also be live tonight to discuss the entirety of both roadmaps in full, with all details from the Dovetail Direct: Summer 2025 event, and answer your questions live!
Send us your questions in advance on our August 2025 Roadmap Q&A thread, and we’ll answer as many as we can!
The stream will begin from 18:00 UTC / 19:00 BST on our YouTube and Twitch channels, and we can’t wait to see you there!
Make sure you’re joining our teams on our Dovetail Live forums, our new official Discord, and community-led spaces that we are active in – and let us know what you’re looking forward to most.
And if you can’t wait to become part of the action, remember that you can pre-order Train Sim World 6 now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam! Please see our TSW6 FAQs more more information on this for each game platform.

Here we go – let’s dive into everything revealed for Train Sim World 6!
Who’s ready for a trip across the Dawlish Sea Wall? Bathe in the beauty of the South Devon Main Line between Exeter St Davids across the Plymouth, featuring the picturesque Riviera Line branch to Paignton in this new route coming with Train Sim World 6! Famous for the red-coloured cliffs, this scenic adventure brings us to Devon for the first time in TSW, with wonderful views that will keep you locked in Photo Mode for hours capturing the best screenshots possible. And what’s that we spot on the camera? It looks like the return of the beloved GWR license! We’ve very proud to officially represent the trains included on the Riviera line in their GWR liveries, for both the new, dual-powered BR Class 802 and the Class 150. Tranquil hills, cliffs and ocean waves are a perfect setting for a brand new challenge, as this line will feature steep gradients, sharp up/downhill banks and constant winding tracks throughout, keeping you on your toes across the mainline. This route is packed with history, originally built in the 1840s by Isambard Kingdom Brunel as an atmospheric railway, and later transformed to standard traction – it’s significance to the region is paramount. Back with the release of the Class 170 from Rivet Games, we brought the Cross Country livery to TSW! Of course, with this new brand, we had to bring in the…
The wait is over – A massively famous sight across the UK, we’re finally welcoming in the Class 220 Voyager to your TSW collections!
Born to suit the growing needs of the longest and busiest services across the UK, the sleek BR Class 220 has travelled all across England and Scotland over the 20+ years of service it's had on the rails.
In Train Sim World 6, be a driver or conductor aboard busy CrossCountry services along the scenic Riviera Line. Accelerate out of Exeter and race by on express services to Plymouth, crest over the Devon Hills and hurry past the Dawlish Sea Wall.
Get ready for your own voyage across the UK with Free Roam, presenting many opportunities across a huge collection of UK routes available in TSW, being able to pick-up and bring the BR Class 220 Voyager on your journeys across the UK.
Get ready for a meeting of two halves, from historic to present, bustling cityscapes to rural forests, or older EMUs to modern traction – the Morristown Line will offer a very unique driving experience.
From concrete walls to coniferous trees, dive into a lively route, starting at one of the busiest cities in the world, heading westbound across the Northeast Corridor, through the suburbs of the Morris & Essex county and onwards to Dover for a 40 mile adventure. Get onboard with the new NJ TRANSIT® Arrow III EMU, an iconic statement of New Jersey’s commuter railroading scene, included with the Morristown Line route, which is an older unit built in the 70s, which features an antiquated control system – with no reverser, it’s either forwards or backwards, you’ll get a classic feel when driving. Also included on the line is the NJ TRANSIT® ALP-46, a more modern electric locomotive to compliment your collection and give you a different experience across the line, coming with the NJ TRANSIT® Multi-Level and cab cars. Depart from Hoboken in the Arrow III, through the 1908 Bergen Tunnels, onwards to Newark and Orange to ultimately reach Dover station, or take the modern ALP-46 electric locomotive & MultiLevel cars on push/pull electric services bound for the Big Apple.
Arriving to TSW for the first time, here comes a brand-new dual-power loco that mixes the best of overhead electric and diesel running.
The ALP-45DP is a modern and innovative locomotive that entered service in the early 2010s. Replacing ageing diesels, the ALP-45 is fitted with both a pantograph, and a diesel engine for dual-mode operation; this makes the loco capable of running across New Jersey’s unelectrified lines.
Prepare yourselves for a trip along the oldest long-distance railway in Germany, now heading all the way to Leipzig with modern ICE, regional and freight traffic.
For those familiar with the original Dresden-Riesa line from TSW2, this new updated route completely overhauls and revitalises the entire experience, offering the full journey to Leipzig, extending the total track to a massive 160km, and featuring over 40 stations across the entire length! The Riesa-Leipzig extension is all high speed, providing a greater run for IC and ICE traffic, and adding value to all regional journeys, and additionally the route will also feature the Dresden-Coswig branch via the massive Friedrichstadt freight yard, which also boosts existing passenger services. Included with this route is a range of locomotives, primarily featuring the DB BR 411 ICE-T and the DB BR 442 Talent 2 for ICE and IC traffic, as well as the DB BR 146 + Dostos and DB BR 185 for freight services. Additionally with Leipzig-Dresden, you'll be granted entitlements for the original Nahverkehr Dresden route Add-on, providing even more stock for you to use in TSW6!
Popular across Germany, pick up the DB BR 294 shunting locomotive and unlock new gameplay across the yards and industries of Leipzig-Dresden with classic diesel power.
Discover more about the history of all these routes and locomotives, what they offer in TSW6, included layers & full details in our upcoming articles each week, as well as upcoming chances to preview the content ahead of Early Access and Launch on September 30th 2025.

New Feature: Random Events It’s time to expect the unexpected – Randomised events are coming to Train Sim World 6 to completely change your game sessions and introduce a new level of variety. You will encounter two types of random events during gameplay: Signal Delays A chance for some signals to take longer to update than expected, reflecting the realistic short delays due to human-operation for updating signal clearance. Whilst this impact usually only results in waits of a few seconds longer than expected, due to the knock-on effect this can cause over a long journey, this can cascade and completely shift how you experience the run from one session to the next. You may end up further ahead, or stuck behind, other AI trains on the network, resulting in new challenges and situations requiring further awareness of the scenario unfolding around you. Temporary Speed Restrictions A very popular request from players, temporary speed restrictions are also simulating the reality of railway operation, due to situations such as damage to the line, or railway workers around the tracks, causing a needed reason to limit the speed. Safety speed restrictions can now be randomly placed across the track, causing moments where you’ll need to adjust your speed for a short section of track, and then speed-up to continue afterwards. At the beginning of your session, you’ll be given a briefing to outline where all the temporary speed restrictions will be, so you can plan ahead. These two random events were top player-requests from our TSW Winter Survey and will provide a complete unique experience to playing the game, especially when in combination with eachother! Don’t fancy the chaos? In the event you’re not looking for the extra level of challenge, or hoping for a smoother journey - you will also be given the ability to toggle off both of the Random Events from happening in your next session easily within the settings menu. New Feature: Train Faults Continuing the theme of providing unique and new gameplay to each of your sessions in Train Sim World, the next feature coming is Train Faults – adding an unpredictable realistic element to your services that may need urgent attention!
Whenever these faults occur, a pop-up will walk you through the needed steps in order to resolve the issue – You’ll never feel lost on how to resolve the faults, however, you will need to stay prepared in case it changes your plan!
Players will experience a wide range of faults on their trains, including:
Stuck/Broken wiper blades
Headlight malfunctions
Dynamic Brake Failure
Tilt faults for tilting trains
And many more!
Matt: “Even if nothing goes wrong – these new train faults will keep you on edge, you’ll find the experience driving will be different because you’re anticipating the scenario if something does happen, which keeps the gameplay exciting!” Like Random Events, if you don’t want to Train Faults during your gameplay sessions, you can easily toggle them off in the settings menu. New Feature: Platform & Train Announcements After Random Events, announcements were the second-most highly voted core feature that you wanted to see, and from the speculation across the community, it’s fair to say many of you were grateful to hear the good news of its arrival in Train Sim World 6! Fully integrated into the on-board systems, with PIS and Tannoy’s around the trains, the movement and activity of trains flowing in and out of stations will be played audibly, adding an extra level of realism that we’re excited to finally bring to you all. If you’re standing around on platforms, you’ll hear the key information broadcast, such as when the next train is arriving, when it’s departing, and how many stops are coming up. And whilst we’re keeping an ear out for the next announcements, we’ll also be listening for your feedback on this new feature, and how this new level of immersion is elevating your game sessions! New Feature: Passenger Ambient Audio On top of all the TSW6 features we’ve outlined above, we have a new feature we'd like to announce today, the most-requested existing feature to improve in TSW, following your feedback in our recent player surveys - it's of course our wonderful passengers! The audio team have been focussing increasing the immersion you feel when playing any game sessions, either in timetable services, scenarios, or when putting on the conductor’s hat. Coming with TSW6 will be all new Passenger Ambient Audio – adding new noises and chattering in coaches that dynamically adapts in volume based on how many passengers are seated in a single area. We’re hoping this change goes hand-in-hand with our announcements, making the audio experience across TSW more complete, and keep the world feeling more alive than ever. Additional Improvements Alongside the passenger improvements, we’ve also continued to improve other aspects of the game to ensure the experience is the best as possible. Training Center – A New Free Loco! Firstly, we’re adding the SD40-2 US locomotive into Training Center as a free locomotive for everyone to enjoy, helping more people get onboard with US content, and give everyone who picks up TSW6, or even the Free Starter Pack, a whole new loco to play with in Training Center or Free Roam! Memory and Robustness Back in June 2025, we shared the first stages of our major reworks to memory and robustness in Train Sim World, to improve the experience as much as possible for all our platforms, and give players more options to manage their memory with new settings. Our focus has continued on these optimisations, with our priorities aimed at tackling blurry textures, visual fidelity, and making the most out of available memory.
We’re extremely proud to announce the return of the Free Starter Pack for TSW6, following the success last year, this is your entry point to jump into the latest version of Train Sim World at no cost. Supported across all our platforms, and yours to keep forever once claimed, this truly is the best way to experience everything we have to offer! What’s included in the Train Sim World 6 Free Starter Pack? The Free Starter Pack will give you access to the latest Training Center and the core feature set of Train Sim World 6 outlined above. This pack won’t provide you with any of the new routes/locos on its own, so if you’re interested in the Train Sim World 6 content, you’ll find much more value in our premium bundles that include the content we’ve covered, and you can find breakdowns within our TSW6 Bundle FAQs.

A new lease of life comes to Birmingham with two new variants of the Class 170, available now from Rivet Games!
Approximate release times: 1000 BST PlayStation & Xbox, 1600 BST Epic Games, 1800 BST Steam
Originally part of Rivet Games’ Fife Circle Line as the ScotRail Class 170/4, the iconic turbo now stars in a new role, filling out and enhancing the Cross-City Line. Including both the 170/5 and 170/6 subclasses, with detail changes such as original headlights, updated cabs and interiors, the Class 170 is now presented in West Midlands Railway livery, as well as the far-reaching CrossCountry livery!

Expert DB BR 101 & IC Steuerwagen Add-on
This gameplay pack requires players to own the Expert DB BR 101 & IC Steuerwagen Add-on, released in 2024. This ‘Expert’ loco is a much more complex, challenging and detailed version of the separate DB BR 101 locomotive Add-on that was released back in 2021.
The Add-on features a level of interaction that requires considerable knowledge of the real-world locomotive’s systems and requires use of a Manual to understand some of the processes that are simulated. These include 'cold starting' the locomotive, entering train data into systems and managing train faults. A German Language Manual is also available.
Our 23rd June Patch provided a significant update to the Expert DB BR 101 Add-on, including a new Livery and a list of new and improved features. You can read the full list in the relevant Patch Notes.
Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel - Würzburg
The pack also requires ownership of the Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel - Würzburg route, first released as a Core route in Train Sim World 3. This route is available as a Train Sim World 5 Compatible route Add-on.
This route features the first true high-speed train in Germany, the ICE 1 which can accelerate up to 280 km/h. The route's eloquent mix of tunnels and viaducts offer a unique view as you punch through landscape, and unique challenge as you stay on top of the forever changing speed limits and both LZB and PZB systems available.

We snuck this one out in our July Roadmap, where we gave a brief overview of the two liveries with a selection of screenshots.
The Class 170 has been a recognisable part of UK regional and longer-distance services for the past 25 years and continues to be a staple for connecting towns and cities that do not feature wholly electrified railways. Across multiple variants and fleet shuffles, they have taken on many roles and paint schemes over the past few decades.
Originally part of Rivet Games’ Fife Circle Line as the ScotRail Class 170/4, the iconic turbo now stars in a new role, filling out and enhancing the Cross-City Line. If you’re new to the Class 170 in Train Sim World, Rivet Games produced a video detailing the development of the ScotRail Class 170 when Fife Circle Line released.
Unlike the Fife Circle Line Class 170, the WMR & CrossCountry trains do not include the Auto-Announce feature. Due to this being a bespoke set-up that Rivet Games have developed, this implementation would have required fundamental changes to the way the route works, which is something we weren't able to support for this particular Add-on.
A new timetable will be available to players of the Birmingham Cross-City route, featuring a much wider variety of traffic from a selection of other Add-ons, for players that own them. There’ll also be new Scenarios to play.
The West Midlands Railway Class 170 will have over 150 services, of which 58 are playable. The CrossCountry Class 170 will have over 180, of which 31 will be playable.
Tyler, a Game Designer at Rivet Games, takes us through the process of building this timetable from the Class 170 Add-on and outlines the content available from other Train Sim World Add-ons.
The new Cross-City timetable started as a passion project. A year ago, I was a modder making timetables in the Public Editor, wishing for an update to Birmingham Cross-City. I approached Rivet Games with a project proposal: they'd modify their existing Class 170 into variants suitable for the route, and I'd create the timetable. They said yes, but it wouldn't be for a little while, so in the meantime would I like to come work on other projects? I am now happily employed at Rivet Games and am excited to see this project released for Train Sim World 5 players to enjoy.
The first decision of the project was easy: Instead of starting from scratch, I'd start by making a copy of the existing timetable, set in 2019, and add trains using the same Working Timetable source document.
The Class 323 services are mostly unchanged, save for some signalling changes at the now-very-busy Birmingham New Street. Freight, rail tour, and Railhead Treatment Train layers are unchanged.
The new timetable includes Class 170s from both West Midlands Railway and CrossCountry, in both 2-car 170/5 and 3-car 170/6 variants. You'll also drive 4-car trains composed of a pair of 2-car units, and I challenge you to find the two trains longer than 4 cars hidden in the timetable.
The majority of playable Class 170 services are between Bromsgrove and Birmingham New Street. CrossCountry services operate out of the playable area between Cardiff and Nottingham and West Midlands Railway runs between Birmingham and Hereford, Great Malvern & Worcester. This busy trunk line will keep you on your toes responding to yellow and red signals; keep to time and you'll often overtake the stopping Class 323 services on the four-track section between Kings Norton and Longbridge.
Eagle-eyed players may spot that real CrossCountry services don't stop at Bromsgrove; in TSW they do, just for you! Otherwise, they'd be AI-only services, playable only on the short stretch between Birmingham New Street and University.
West Midlands Railway Class 170s are also playable between Aston and Birmingham New Street on services running out of the map to Walsall and Wolverhampton or Shrewsbury. Another reason to pick the May 2019 timetable as the base timetable was the short-lived use of Class 170 units on this service.
Rounding out the playable Class 170 services are a couple of empty coaching stock movements giving you some rare mileage, but that's not all the 170s! AI services from both operators fill out Birmingham New Street, headed beyond the route’s confines for Shrewsbury, Nottingham, Leicester, and Stansted Airport.
If you own other Train Sim World Add-ons, you'll get extra playable and AI content — so much so that we had to write our own platform visualization tool to cram all the traffic into Birmingham New Street.
The Class 350 from West Coast Main Line (London Euston - Milton Keynes) is playable between Birmingham New Street and Aston on Walsall and Wolverhampton services (as well as some other service patterns at peak hours, check the platform boards for more information).
The Class 350 and the Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino both fill out Birmingham New Street as AI, and you'll also spot them at the low-level platforms at Lichfield Trent Valley. The Pendolino also has a single empty coaching stock move playable between Aston and Birmingham New Street.
The last visitor to Birmingham New Street is the Transport for Wales Class 150 from Cardiff City Network on services between Birmingham International and destinations in Wales.
Finally, if you drive through Aston (or stand on the platforms to spot trains) you may see some AI freight trains using existing layers.
To close things off, I'll finish by sharing two personal highlights from the new timetable:
Driving between Birmingham New Street and Bromsgrove is more engaging than ever, no matter your choice of traction. There are lots of adverse signals and the fast overtakes are fun — certainly contenders for the Awesome Service Mode Runs thread on the TSW forums.
Trainspotting on foot on the route is another way to enjoy the traffic. At Birmingham New Street, find the glass-walled stair towers at the west end of the platforms for an elevated view of trains arriving and departing. Go downstairs at Lichfield Trent Valley and watch those 390s bank around the curves at speed. Hang out with the cat at Aston and try to guess which type of train will arrive next. Or stand at Longbridge and try to capture an overtake in Photo Mode.
We hope you enjoy driving the Class 170 in this new timetable as much as we enjoyed creating it!

Blast to the past along the WCML with classic British AC traction in the iconic BR Class 86/2 from Just Trains.
BR Class 86/2
This Add-on brings additional challenges to the stunning WCML: Preston - Carlisle route, as well as all-new variety in the form of British Rail’s Mk2F coaches.
The Class 86 entered service in the mid-1960s after years of testing different designs to run on the newly electrified West Coast Main Line.
Over time, a revision to the suspension was undertaken to solve issues of rough riding and track wear, these changes resulted in what became known as the Class 86/2 subclass.
In more recent years, both the Class 87 and Class 86 have seen some international service in Europe, predominantly in Bulgaria, where some are still used on freight trains under various operators. Players can utilise Free Roam to take these locomotives beyond their home tracks or on UK rail tours on other British TSW routes.
Operating the Class 86 in-game will be a challenge for new and existing players on WCML Preston – Carlisle. Just Trains have produced a Class 86 Manual to outline specific changes and operations.
The Class 86 has a fully accessible engine room and a detailed, weathered cab. It also comes in two liveries: BR Blue and Intercity Executive with specific details implemented on individual locomotives, such as those on ‘City of Coventry’ detailed in the March Roadmap.
Mk2F Coaches & Mk1 RMB
Also included in the pack are Mk2F Coaches, in BSO, TSO and FO variants.
The feature coach of the Class 86/2 is the much-requested BR Mk1 RMB Buffet Car.
When you enter the RMB, make your way to the Buffet area where behind the operating roller shutter you will see a fully stocked area with a great variety of top-quality (curly) sandwiches, fresh (yesterday) Pork Pies (in two sizes), bags of crisps, bottles of soft drinks with flavours such as Apple, Orange, and Berry!
All these are ready for your delectation served to you by the friendly and helpful Steward.
Timetable services and additional gameplay
Both the Class 86 and Mk2 Coaches will substitute into the current WCML: Preston – Carlisle timetable in place of some Class 87-hauled services.
The timetable for WCML: Preston – Carlisle has Class 87 services running cross-country trains across the route. These services will be substituted by Class 86 locomotives as would have been the case during the period.
As the Class 86/2 was not a common feature on freight services, these will all continue to be Class 87 hauled.
5 new Scenarios will also be available to play on the route, ranging from a football Special out of the map to a run to Wembley to represent England playing against Scotland during April 1986.
Others including a delayed service requires some rerouting and the southbound express bound for London requires some assistance... can you take on the challenge?
Players keen on making use of the Mk1 RMB will be able to do so in Formation Designer, along with the Mk2F Coaches and the Class 86 with these coaches can be spawned in Free Roam.
Train Sim World 5: Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £19.99 / €24.99 / $24.99.

Let’s dive in!
Firstly, we've got some huge news to share: Train Sim World 6 is arriving this year! Let's hear it from your regular roadmap hosts Alex and Matt:
Expect the Unexpected! - Anyone got any guesses for what's coming up?
So, before you ask why we are revealing this early, a reminder that we have to avoid JD leaking this all on our Roadmap livestream tonight, so this was the next best option.
But more seriously, we're incredibly excited to share the news, and we believe that letting you all know sooner helps us join in the conversations, stay open and engaged with you all over the next couple months as we approach the Dovetail Direct, with our team helping alleviate any worries or questions regarding key details for what we have in store.
We're not going to give away the details about the content just yet, so get your best speculation threads ready, but we can confirm the good bits, starting with the return of the Free Starter Pack, your way to enter Train Sim World 6 at no cost, either as an existing player with a range of TSW compatible content, or someone brand-new to the series looking to hop in!
Train Sim World 6 will of course bring a range of great value paid bundles to get your hands on, and it will be available for all the same platforms we currently support for TSW5 too, including those on Gen8 consoles.
Performance and optimisation remains to be a keen focus of our dev team, and in the last month we've been able to share the first selection of these updates, but you can expect us to keep going and improving the experience.
Oh, and one final thing - our teams at Dovetail Games have been developing brand new titles, one of which we're excited to start talking about very soon! Again, don't expect any details today for this, but stay tuned across our socials, website and community spaces for more information in the coming weeks.
Finally - for the full details of content coming in Train Sim World 6, announcements of brand-new add-ons coming to TSW, further news on our upcoming new titles and more - you'll want to be first in line to our upcoming Dovetail Direct on August 26th. The event is ready to view right now on our YouTube channel below, and will be live on both YouTube and Twitch during the day.
We've got a wonderful few weeks ahead of us, with all the new exciting news for Train Sim World 6, and of course we still have all new releases coming to Train Sim World 5 from our third-party partners. Why don't we take a quick look at what's still to come this month, starting with a brand new add-on announcement!
Announcing a new twin-set of Turbos from Rivet Games
We have one last reveal coming to Train Sim World 5... Rivet Games have been busy working on expanding the gameplay of the Cross-City Line, and the star of the show is the upcoming WMR & XC BR Class 170! James spent some time with the pack to bring you the news:
The Class 170 makes its second appearance in Train Sim World, sporting new liveries, modifications (including the old AdTranz headlight clusters) and for the first time, the CrossCountry brand to Train Sim World - a license we are delighted to have back since its last appearance in TS Classic!
The passenger interiors and the cabs differ per Train Operating Company (TOC), CrossCountry for example features First Class accommodation, but the West Midlands Railway 170 does not, also note the remnants of London Midland with the unmistakable green moquette.
Diesel and electric cross paths just outside of Bromsgrove, at the base of the Lickey Incline. The pair of 323s will later fly up the famed hill with ease, the 170 however is about to slog it at less than 40mph!
Winter snow settles on the trackbed as 170520 slows for University station, the only intermediate station between Birmingham and Bromsgrove which both the CrossCountry and WMR diesel services call at.
On a CrossCountry service bound for Nottingham, 170638 shoots past an accelerating 323 at Northfield station, making use of the central, unelectrified lines. The southern half of the route gets a new lease of life!
Busy busy Birmingham, whether it's Desiros for Wolverhampton or Pendolinos racing to Crewe, AI trains bound for all directions can now be seen, making it feel just as busy as it should be, with Transport for Wales AI also making a presence here.
For a bit of bitesize Birmingham flavour, the 170 (in conjunction with the Class 350 as a layer) also provides additional playable services between New Street and Aston. A short but sweet treat if one doesn't have the appetite for blasting via Bournville.
The northern tip of the route is not left out of the action - alongside all the Class 170 and Birmingham New Street layers, you can also enjoy a bit of Trent Valley trainspotting! Keep an eye out below the 323's high-level platform at Lichfield for fast and stopper services alike.
The WMR & XC BR Class 170 DMU joins the West Midlands line-up soon, and you can expect this add-on to come ahead of the Dovetail Direct on August 26th. We will share more news and details in the coming weeks, but in the meantime, you have a couple days left to pick up WCML South & the Avanti West Coast Pendolino in the Steam Summer Sale if you haven't already to prepare Birmingham for its additional traffic!
Class 86 + Mk2f Coaches from Just Trains - Arriving on July 15th!
Just Trains' first locomotive Add-on is releasing this time next week - Get ready to hop aboard the Class 86 from the release on July 15th 2025!

Expert DB BR 101 on Kassel-Würzburg Gameplay Pack from TSG - Coming later this month!
As a reminder from last month, we also announced a new pack coming from the TSG team, featuring the Expert DB BR 101, on Kassel - Würzburg, with a new expanded timetable, 5 exciting Expert-Level scenarios, and much more!
Coming in with 26 more playable services and over 1200 new AI services to bring live into the cities, it focuses heavily on IC traffic with the 101 Expert but brings you new opportunities for the ICE3 and 1 too.
The expanded timetable will change/add the following:
Reworked freight layers
ICE trains and formations have been swapped around to better represent the 2018 timetable, including the addition of an ICE-T layer
IC layer is completely different with many more 101 and cab car-led services, including a few light loco runs where LZB use is prohibited
New FlixTrain layer with 2x BR 193 services
Overhauled and added AI wherever the high-speed line passes by or interacts with other lines
You'll be able to experience five new expert level scenarios, which introduce new gameplay not seen before, such as:
A rescue scenario with the ultimate stopping precision required
Wrong-line running around track closures
Voice-over lines
Befehl documents on the cab desk
We'll be sharing much more details about what you can expect in these new scenarios in future articles, but for now stay excited and prepare yourself to expect the unexpected!
Now that we've covered the remaining add-ons coming to Train Sim World 5, we wanted to confirm where you can expect all our previously announced add-ons listed on the roadmap to land.

Just Trains' first locomotive Add-on is releasing soon! Climb aboard the Class 86 from 15th July and see the loco in action in two preview livestreams!
We revealed a comprehensive article in May detailing everything you need to know about the gameplay coming from this Add-on, in addition to the series of Development Blog entries published by Just Trains themselves.
This classic electric locomotive brings additional gameplay to the longest UK route in Train Sim World: West Coast Main Line: Preston - Carlisle.
For players that need a refresh on UK tap changer operation or for those new to this type of locomotive, Just Trains have produced a Manual for the Class 86.
In addition to the Class 86, this Add-on also introduces new Mk2F coaches and the highly-requested Mk1 RMB, or "Restaurant Miniature Buffet", which is staffed!
At the counter is a selection of items on display depicting the sort of fare available during the BR era, including sandwiches, drinks and sweet treats!
In case you missed it, you can see a glimpse of the Class 86 in action in our Walkaround Video.
Steam players without WCML: Preston - Carlisle can prepare before release with 16% off in the Summer Sale, ending on 10th July.
Blackpool Branches which adds Class 142 layers to the WCML route, is also in the sale at 34% off.
You'll be able to see the Class 86 Add-on in action for the first time live over on the Just Trains YouTube Channel on Monday 7th July at 2000 BST.
The DTG Railfan TV Team will then follow up with their own preview later in the week on Thursday 10th July at 1900 BST on YouTube & Twitch.

Bring modern locomotives to the Northeast Corridor just in time for 4th July! The HSP46 comes to the Boston - Providence route in our latest Gameplay Pack.
We're pleased to confirm that players that already own Train Sim World 5 and the MBTA Commuter route Add-on can get this pack completely free!
The pack provides additional gameplay for the NEC: Boston - Providence route (available separately) using the MBTA HSP46 diesel locomotive.
Pricing for players without MBTA Commuter is $5.99/£4.99/€5.99. The gameplay pack is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam.
Approximate release times: 11:00am ET / 4:00pm BST on Console & Epic, 1:00pm ET / 6:00pm BST on Steam.
Steam players should note that activating the free entitlement for MBTA Commuter players is a manual process for our team. There may be a short delay after 6:00pm BST before the Gameplay Pack becomes 'free' for these players. Once activated, the content should download automatically.
Entitlements for PS, Xbox and Epic MBTA Commuter players should go live at the same time as their respective launch times.
Diversify your diesel fleet along the Northeast Corridor with the addition of the HSP46! Operate MBTA’s busy Providence/Stoughton Line with modern motive power, serving the commuters of Massachusetts with double-deck duty.
Built between 2013 and 2014, the HSP46 marked a new era for MBTA as they were able to replace ageing equipment on their key commuter services into the city of Boston. Putting passengers first from the offset, MBTA allowed members of the public to pick the livery for this new fleet of locomotives, resulting in a striking application of angled magenta, accented with yellow, grey and black.
Originally released as part of the MBTA Commuter: Framingham/Worcester Line, the HSP46 now comes raring for service along the high-speed Northeast Corridor in Train Sim World. Share tracks with express Amtrak services along MBTA’s Providence route, or leave the wires for a stint along the single-track Stoughton branch. In the 3 new scenarios, take on additional challenges such as building formations, and rescuing trains. Check tickets and operate the doors in Conductor Mode.
Work in tandem with the MBTA F40 and single-deck cars, as well as with the capacity-boosting bi-level cars and cab car. With 4 cabs to choose from in push/pull operations, race your way to Boston with the MBTA Providence/Stoughton Line HSP46!
Gameplay for this pack takes place on the NEC: Boston - Providence route, first released as 'Boston Sprinter' as part of Train Sim World 2: Rush Hour.
Since then, the route has received an overhaul with TOD4 lighting, dynamic weather and revised signalling forming part of a significant upgrade in 2023. It is available for Train Sim World 5 as Compatible Content.
The route facilitates long-distance passengers on Northeast Regional services between the state capitals of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. From modern suburbia to the sprawling countryside, experience the fastest rail line in America from the cab of the modern Amtrak ACS-64 or climb aboard the eye-catching MBTA F40PH-3C, operating commuter services between each suburban hub along the way, as well as on the quaint Stoughton branch. Both lines will accommodate the HSP46 for players that pick up the HSP46 Gameplay Pack.
If you just can't get enough of the HSP46 you can take a different route along the Framingham/Worcester line in the MBTA Commuter route Add-on.
You can find out more information on our dedicated MBTA Commuter page.
Mark Independence Day with two Boston-based route Add-ons. Save a huge 80% off NEC: Boston - Providence featuring the ubiquitous F40PH locomotive and 50% off MBTA Commuter featuring the modern HSP46 diesel locomotive.
Two branches, overhead aircraft, loads of layers and a classic train to drive! ATS arrive in Train Sim World with Manchester Airport Commuter - out now! Manchester Airport Commuter: Manchester - Alderley Edge Note that Manchester Airport Commuter will be released on Gen 9 (Xbox Series S|X & PS5) and PC platforms only, as mentioned in the May 2025 Roadmap. The Route Explore 27 miles of track out from Manchester Piccadilly through to the suburban countryside setting of Alderley Edge via Manchester Airport. This route Add-on includes two spines: a main line via Stockport and the Styal line via Manchester Airport, converging at Wilmslow. Both branches offer busy commuter traffic into the heart of Manchester. Manchester Piccadilly, first seen in the Glossop Line route Add-on, forms the focal point for passenger services in Manchester Airport Commuter, with a full station concourse and fully explorable Metrolink and taxi rank areas. Route Hopping will also be available for players that own Glossop Line. A short stretch of the line out to Ardwick shares that of Glossop Line, before branching off south into new territory via Longsight and Stockport. Multiple modelled depots lie along the route, including at Ardwick, Longsight, Manchester International Depot & Stockport Sidings. Neutral sections are also included at the relevant parts of the route. The route’s namesake Manchester Airport and its dedicated station are modelled with the appropriate signage and features, as well as the Airport Skywalk which is best seen at night. The runway and approach lights can be seen, along with licensed Airbus aircraft flying overhead (like those seen in Train Sim World 5’s Frankfurt – Fulda route) making for some impressive Photo Mode shots! Both new and existing players of Train Sim World will likely be familiar with the simple-to-operate Class 323 EMU as seen in the Training Center. Whilst the units remain much the same as from the previous two route Add-ons they’ve featured in, the Manchester Airport Commuter services will feature a functioning Conductor Mode (or Guard Mode). The Class 66 is also included for freight services with FKA Wagons. Timetable, Service Layers and Gameplay
Similar to Train Sim World’s San Bernardino Line, players will be able to explore the route across two separate timetables. A Weekday schedule, including freight, will form the standard set of passenger operations in addition to the alternative Sunday patterns. These timetables will make great use of all four featured depots/sidings for a variety of movements including, shunting, coupling and washing runs – meaning even after passenger services are complete, the action doesn’t stop! Additional Service Layers
Players with other Add-ons in their collection will be able to see and operate additional services along the route. These include:
Class 350 services from West Coast Main Line South
Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino
ScotRail Class 158
EMT Class 158 services from Midland Main Line
Class 87 from West Coast Main Line: Preston-Carlisle
Railhead Treatment Train
Class 150 & 153 services from Cardiff City Network.
Steam players can save on a host of these layers in the Summer Sale. These including services from:
Pricing and Steam Loyalty Discount
Train Sim World 5: Manchester Airport Commuter: Manchester - Alderley Edge route Add-on is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £24.99/€29.99/$29.99 Players on Steam that own Train Sim World 5 and Glossop Line, which also features the Northern Class 323 running services our of Manchester Piccadilly, are entitled to a 20% discount from launch for 2 weeks. Preview Streams - ATS & DTG Missed the preview streams? ATS hosted their own stream over on Twitch showing a first live look at their first TSW route.
