AI Difficulty System — EASY / NORMAL / HARD
- Replaced NG+ with a three-tier difficulty system:
- EASY — the classic AI you know.
- NORMAL — opponents read the table within a session, play tighter, and start exploiting your tendencies.
- HARD — opponents keep a persistent scouting book on you (after the first televised venue), play aggressively, and have near-perfect fundamentals.
- You'll be prompted to pick a difficulty on your first run, and you can change it any time from the main menu (with confirmation if you have an active career, because progress will be lost).
Knockout Bounties
- Bounties added to marquee events: $500 on Riverboat and $100K on the Neon Championship — with a live in-game overlay and an end-of-event tally.
- Riverboat is now the televised "Riverboat Showdown At Sundown."
- $/BB Display Toggle: A single toggle now switches the pot, your stack, and opponent stacks between dollars and big blinds, with blinds always shown in dollars (of course).
- Big-blind readouts now go down to 0.1 BB instead of stopping at 0.9 BB. Based on your feedback — players were confused about why opponents kept surviving — this makes it clear when someone is truly hanging on by a thread with a fraction of a blind left.
Card Face Revamp
- Full-resolution cards now use traditional multi-pip layouts (2–10) inside a clean inset panel, with the Ace keeping its single large pip.
- Face cards (J/Q/K) are now pixel-art PNGs traced inspired by classic Solitaire decks — that instantly
recognizable retro look, instead of the old hand-drawn silhouettes.
Resolution Support
- Added a Resolution selector in the Options and Pause menus, capped at your desktop resolution and saved between sessions.
- Fixed the table on smaller-than-1080p displays: the game now letterboxes to fit instead of pushing the outer seats and HUD off-screen. Window minimum lowered to 960×540, and F11 fullscreen now matches the menu toggle.
- Added resolution-aware card detail (LOD): at 1080p and up you get the full traditional pip faces, while downscaled windows automatically swap to a legible simplified face (big corner rank + one centered pip). Hopefully fixing the long-standing complaint about pips smearing into mush on small screens.
Hey, everyone! So, cutting right to the chase, we got more reviews, and we now know what to work on next. The following are in QA and will likely be live in the next 3 days: New Resolution config in the OPTIONS menu (both in-game and main menu). The card faces have been updated, along with some pixel art for the J, Q, and K ranks. Hopefully, once we reach a certain number of sales, I can commission someone to do pixel art for those (and for the animations in-between venues as well). Here are the old card faces along with the redrawn versions (both high-res and low-res).
Thanks to our very first review (negative, but constructive and fair), we have our very first patch in QA right now. So, what is it about? Basically, it's the first of 2 main things the reviewer mentioned: Lack of readability for cards and UI text.
Originally, the way we opted to achieve the pixelated retro look was to have a sub-1024 canvas and scale it up, but that made certain parts hard to read, so we are increasing the game canvas and being more deliberate about the parts of the UI that get to retain the pixelated look. Also, the bitmaps that render the card suits have been reworked from simple 10x10 to 23x23 (the odd number makes for better and sharper symmetry).
Hopefully, we get to keep the look while also improving your ability to clearly read your character's powers and your hole cards. Please, even if it's negative, feel free to hit us with more feedback. We are eager to take this journey with you all into a better game that speaks to what you guys would like to experience.
