My fellow thieves,
I am here today to talk about the future. I have heard your questions and want to answer them to hopefully put your concerns to rest.
Working in the gaming industry is at times delightful and at other times heartbreaking. As many of you know, OtherSide Entertainment has lost most of its beloved members and only a very small team remains. This means there will be no further content updates for Thick as Thieves. To be frank, this is not the outcome that any of us want, but we’re facing the reality that ongoing development of extra content, modes and systems is not a viable path.
Having said that, there is positive news also: in partnership with our publisher, Megabit, we are working to secure the future of Thick as Thieves for our players. This means that a small team of dedicated people are hard at work to ensure that the game continues to function into the future. This mainly involves putting together a new version of the game that uses Peer to Peer servers for co-op play. The gameplay and flow of your experience will remain virtually identical, but will not need the use of dedicated servers in the cloud. This will allow you to continue playing with your friends when you desire and importantly, solo play will be completely unaffected. Once this work is complete, Megabit will take over the care of the game and respond to bugs and other issues as needed.
We know that this news is bittersweet but our number one priority is to ensure continued operations of the game that we all love. Rest assured, fellow thieves, we are going to keep the game alive for you and all of us!
Until next time, tread softly, steal what you can, give nothing back!
~ Jeff and the OSE Team
Esteemed Colleagues,
We are excited to release Update 4 to you today! The team has been working hard to increase the dynamism of gameplay and provide new challenges and opportunities in each match. There’s a ton of stuff to talk about, but let’s focus on some key areas:
First up, the Constable’s Guild has improved its training regimen. All guards react more sharply to disturbances and investigate the area more thoroughly when alerted. When KO’d, the Constables will wake with a higher level of alertness and reactivity than before. They stay alert longer too - when recovering from an investigation. These behaviors are responsive to difficulty; on Novice, they calm down a little sooner and stay KO’d longer, but on Master Thief they are more aggressive and don’t stay down as long.
Speaking of difficulties, we’ve also updated the timer to be responsive to difficulty settings. On Novice, we have extended the total match time plus exit time to be much more forgiving and allow Thieves more time to explore and experiment. On Thief difficulty the timer is about the same however the exit timer has been slightly increased . For Master Thieves, we’ve upped the challenge by reducing the exit timer to 4 minutes. When playing for the highest stakes, it will be critical to plan an exit before snapping up the Mission loot.
Players will now have access to Slithertaps and Car Horns. Slithertaps are interactable valves in the world that produce a short burst of Slithersap, with all the benefits thereof. Have a Constable in hot pursuit? Lure them past a Slithertap and activate it to cool them down. Need to lure any member of the guard force off their post? Try jumping on a car to produce a loud honk! Need a quick way to bypass a lock and willing to deal with loud noises? Break the glass of the display case or a nearby unbarred window by throwing a bottle at it. But be judicious with these shortcuts – guards react strongly to the sound of breaking glass.
We’ve also rebalanced the Ledger so that we could add more customization options to the Thieves, including some different outfits, more accessories, some oft-requested combinations of the accessories, and a magnificent new calling card. Check out the Black Market to see all the new choices! Dive back in to try your hand against these new changes and challenges! We’re still watching, listening, and planning our next steps - so keep sending us notes on discord or leaving us reviews!
See you in the shadows,
~ The Thick As Thieves Team

Added a bunch of new cosmetic items to the Black Market

There are some new icons, and still-missing icons should use an appropriate font for the space.
Fixed a few more keybinds that didn’t work correctly as certain commands, such as left-alt and enter

Improved guard VO to better distinguish between visual detections and sound investigations, and added new "vigilant" state VO to communicate their heightened alertness.
Improved Gramophone music playback with better playlist randomization, additional tracks and styles, rebalanced volume levels, and disabled auto-shutdown in the Thief's Den so players can choose their own background music.
Improved environmental audio responsiveness, allowing player tools and interactive objects to react more dynamically to environment acoustics, reflections, and reverb.
Adjusted AI Sound Stim object audio ranges to better align with AI detection behavior and player expectations.
Added new sound effect suites for interactive and breakable objects, including unique glass break and shard impacts, truck interactions and alarms, and Slither Sap pipe audio.
Contract 12, the Contract of Oberon, does not show on map or compass
Many of the new cosmetic items do not yet have localization into other languages
My thiefiest of Thieves,
The team here at Otherside Entertainment is keeping up the pace of updates and I would like to introduce you to my new friend, UPDATE #4 which is expected in the coming days.
This is a big one for guard intelligence, reactions, and other behaviours. I won’t ruin the surprise by talking about all of the shenanigans that they will get up to now, but I will warn you to be careful as guards will have a big brain upgrade and will react to more things that happen around them and in several new ways. These changes will make the game feel much more reactive to you and will make the consequences of messing around with the guards more meaningful. Knock out a guard near them, break glass around them, set off a car alarm? Watch out!
OH! Did I mention breaking glass? Why yes indeed, glass in the world will soon be breakable allowing different access points within the buildings, but also making a loud noise and angering the guards if they find it.
Along with the above, we have a bunch of bug fixes and smaller improvements, like greatly increasing the match timer on Novice so you can hang out in the level for much longer, interactive pipes with some surprising results, and much more.
As always, keep the comments coming, give us a thumbs up review on Steam if you like the game (it really helps!) and keep your eyes open for more from us about the future. We are working on a roadmap to publish for you all and I will personally keep the communication flowing.
Until next time, keep the noise down and the guards befuddled,
-Jeff and the gang at Otherside

Esteemed Colleagues,
We are excited to confirm that Update 3 is now live! We heard you loud and clear: you want more to do and easier access to what’s there. Chameleon and Master Thief difficulty now unlock a lot earlier than before, we added an entire layer of dynamic variation in security device placement to Novice difficulty, and some additional variation and depth to the Thief difficulty. These changes should add a bit of ✨spice to the missions we currently have, while we work on more substantial additions. We mentioned adding more weather to the game, but ran into technical issues and had to tone that down just a little. For now, you can expect a new storm over Elway Manor. We’re regrouping on the weather front, and hope to have more to share with you soon.
We also heard folks talking about how tough it can be to track down those pesky small set-collection and contract items, so we added those to the compass and map. Once you discover a clue that tells you the item’s location, the Map will mark it. Once you are within 20m of the object, it will appear on the compass, too. Contracts and Claymur Urns, meet your match.
There are also a host of fixes to improve quality-of-life on the audio and gameplay fronts. See the changelist below!
As always, we are excited for you to be running heists in Kilcairn with us and hope you enjoy these changes. We will continue to listen and learn – and look forward to gathering your thoughts as we look ahead to Update 4.

Hey Thieves!
You have been BUSY plundering the Constable Guildhall and Elway Manor. However you've also been nabbed here and there along the way. Here are some player stats from your escapades:
Total Loot: over ONE BILLION worth (split roughly 800M Major and 400M Minor)
Almost 650K Guard Takedowns, showing no mercy for the poor fools between you and your prize
However the guards are getting their own back! Almost toe for toe with thieves, KO-ing 623K players!
Well over a MILLION locks have been picked, too!
The Guild tip their caps to you as we collectively line our pockets. Excellent work.
P.S. In case you missed it: we recently shared our plans for Update 3!

My fellow Thieves,
Our cunning plan has always been to get Thick as Thieves into your eager hands so that we can get your feedback and improve the game with your experiences in mind. We are listening attentively to what you have to say, so keep the feedback coming!
With this in mind, I want to give you a few details on Update 3, which we’re plotting to release the week of June 15th. A few key tidbits that we are working on:
We hear you loud and clear about Missions and Contracts being a little confusing at times. We are going to improve how objectives show up on the map and add them to the compass, so you can more easily track set-collection and contract objective locations once you have found relevant clues.
We are also investing in the maps we have, striving to make them more dynamic and different each time you play. We’re adding variations on security around entry points and elsewhere in each map, and added an additional layer of possible security layouts to Novice difficulty. Thief difficulty will still have the most variations – and higher rewards – so we highly recommend you play on Thief once you are ready. We have also included new weather variations as well as some surprises within each level. More maps are on the horizon, but this will improve gameplay immediately..
For Thieves wanting to explore a different approach to each heist, Chameleon will be unlocked earlier. He will be available after completing Contract 3.
For Thieves looking for the most challenging heists that require extensive use of their wits and their gear, Master Thief difficulty will be unlocked earlier. After achieving Level 8, Master Thief will be available in the Black Market. A chance for you to impress the Guildmistress once again!
We have fixed the bug where HOLD F would sometimes get stuck on your screen.
Other miscellaneous bug fixes.
We continue to listen and learn from your adventures and we are looking for ways to squeeze in more exciting challenges and gameplay. Our next target is player-to-world interactions and AI improvements for our next round of updates, and we are eager to collect your thoughts on Master Thief and Chameleon to inform those efforts.
Until next time, may the carpets rise to soften your steps,
Jeff, Game Director | Otherside Entertainment

Hey Thieves! We saw your reports about the keybinds feature having a few key holes (haha, get it?) in it when we patched it in yesterday. We’re releasing a small patch to address those including the changes below:
Fixed ladder climbing to use rebound key inputs
Fixed an issue that prevented the lockpick minigame from using the rebound interact key
Added glyphs for more mouse keybinds
Mouse sensitivity will apply to ladder climbing
If the mouse in question has more than 2 side-buttons, bound side buttons greater than 2 will use text instead of glyphs.
Please note that we’re prioritizing keybinding for gameplay at the moment; most UI navigation will not change. We are evaluating that feature for future patches, alongside all the other stuff we are reviewing. Thanks as always for your feedback, we hope to see you in Kilcairn soon!
~ The Thick As Thieves Team
Hey Thieves,
Our second update is now live! The key element of this one is adding the ability to rebind keys for Keyboard and Mouse players. We heard you about how difficult it was to play on some keyboards, and we hope this will improve the experience dramatically.
We are also doing some other minor updates, like fixing up areas in Elway Manor where players were getting stuck and adding a Mission-countdown timer to the map. See the list below for other changes!
Added remappable keybinding for Keyboard and Mouse
Updated the intro video to fix compatibility issues
Fixed some areas of Elway Manor where players were getting stuck
Once “Thief” difficulty is purchased, it becomes the default difficulty
Players can change to Novice (or Master Thief, once unlocked) at the map table before entering the mission lobby
Added a mission timer to the map
Reduced the Thief Respawn wait timer from 10 to 5 seconds
Thieves now play idle animations in the match setup screen and Wardrobe
Replaced temporary assets on a variant in the Guildhall where a safe was dragged around the location; these should now look better and direct players to the Safe better
Partially mitigated an issue that would sometimes launch players in to the air while trying to mantle over ledges taller than them. This should occur less often, and be less severe if it does occur
Fixed an issue that prevented difficulty choice from saving properly
Many localization fixes across all languages
There’s a missing glyph for “lean” when using the gamepad in the Tutorial
Vistara Diamond description is still using Slithersap in languages other than English
We’re continuing to read every review, comment and thread, and build your feedback into our plans for future patches (more on those in the coming week).
Thanks for playing so far! Keep sharing your thoughts, and we’ll see you in the Shadows ~ Samantha, Lead Producer & the Thick As Thieves team!
If you have played and enjoyed Thick As Thieves, we hope you'll consider writing a review! Every recommendation goes a long way to support the game. You can also join us on Discord to share your thoughts and feedback!
Esteemed Colleagues,
It has been a little over a week since the launch of Thick as Thieves. We have watched you pillage and plunder across Kilcairn with literally billions of pounds in ill gotten gains retrieved so far. The streams of coop play are hilarious and fun, and your exploits overall continue to confound the Constabulary. Well done! Remember that more loot and experience are available if you increase to Thief Difficulty - you will see much more variety in match and security on this difficulty also (more information on difficulty and rewards can be found in our recent post).
On another note - we have seen your feedback about Haunstable behaviour when they encounter a fallen Constable. Please be aware that their patrolling behaviour around their fallen comrades is intended, they simply have a ghostly short memory and will be surprised fairly often when they turn to see the guard still lying on the ground, this behaviour is not intended but sadly, we can’t expect the undead to develop object permanence.
While we are quite pleased with your thieving prowess and how much you are enjoying the game, we also know that there is continued room for improvement and we intend to keep serving that up. So, here is our plan for Patch #2, which will be out sometime in the middle of next week.
Keybindings for Keyboard and Mouse will now be able to be changed at will.
By popular demand, we have put the Mission Timer on the Map. Hit Tab at any time to see it. No more wondering how much time you have left in your thievery.
In the Guildhall, the drag marks from the Constables moving their safe around will be more apparent in the world.
When a thief is knocked out, we have lowered the Respawn timer to 5 seconds.
The intro cinematic has been updated so that it shows up more consistently for all players. If you didn’t get a chance to see the intro video, you can find it here
Characters now appropriately animate in both the wardrobe and mission lobby.
The Guild has smoothed off some rough edges along the rooftops of Elway Manor. This should stop the Zipwire (or YOU) from getting stuck during infiltration.
LOC fixes across all localized languages.
Until next time, keep to the shadows, stay on the carpets, and steal what you can,
~ Jeff Hickman | Game Director, Thick As Thieves
Each map in Thick As Thieves is divided into sub-areas. Individual rooms are part of a larger network of spaces designed to push players between safe locations by passing them through unsafe ones. This alternating rhythm is key to stealth gameplay, and the ability to change the state of the space to influence this rhythm is a critical Imm Sim element of the game. On Novice difficulty, every area has a single security configuration (e.g. guard and device placement) so even brand new players can understand the challenges and learn how to overcome them.Meanwhile on Thief difficulty, each area has an additional configuration which is randomly swapped in. On top of that, the alternate configurations have additional security elements. This means that as well as paths sometimes being blocked and objectives being in different locations, security switches up, keeping things fresh. Your reward? Playing on Thief gives double the experience and loot!Master Thief is its own configuration designed to be the ultimate test of your ability. More guards, more Haunstables, more security, and less time to gather loot in Cleanout Heist. Currently, fewer than 1% of players are in the elite club who have completed a match on Master Thief. To unlock this challenge and the opportunity to earn triple experience and loot compared to Novice, complete Contract 16. If you really want to test yourself, try it without tools - our QA folks can do it!
We are thrilled that you’re finally experiencing the world of Kilcairn and understand that you want more. Right now, the best way to experience variety is attempting higher difficulty levels. While our current focus is on patching issues, we’ll have more to say about the game’s future roadmap in the coming weeks. We appreciate everyone who has played the game, left us a review, recommended us to a friend, and helped identify the issues that we’re fixing.Stick to the shadows and never let them hear you coming.– The Thick As Thieves Team
Hey Thieves!
We need a little maintenance window about three hour from now, at 0900 PT / 1700 BST. This will require about 45 minutes of downtime on the multiplayer servers. Anyone already in a match or playing solo should be unaffected.
Thanks for your patience!
~ The Thick As Thieves Team
Hey Thieves,
We recently shared our plans for settings updates and the patch notes for the first update which is already live.
Key rebinding is still a top priority for both ease of use and making the game accessible to players using non-QWERTY keyboard layouts. We understand that playing with keys in the wrong places is pretty much impossible, so we are making it our next focus.
The work needed for this feature is significantly more than the changes we have made so far, so it will take a little more time to fix this up and test it. Our expectation is to have this second update roll out within the next two weeks.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We’re still listening for other things to address in Update 2, so keep that feedback coming!
~ The Thick As Thieves Team
Hey Thieves!
Since launch on Wednesday, we’ve been paying close attention to what you have been saying about Thick as Thieves - Jeff is reading every comment or thread that he can find - and we want to provide updates as soon as possible. We have picked up some of the most common concerns that we could handle quickly, and are releasing them to you right away. It’s time for Update 1! In this update, we’ve added a Field of View slider as well as toggles for motion blur and reducing camera bounce. We converted the mouse and gamepad sensitivities to a slider, for more control over that setting. We also fixed an issue that should improve how the game looks on 4k monitors and large screens, and added an FPS limiter. Give these settings a whirl and let us know what you think! Please note that alongside this update, we’ve improved error handling in the matchmaking system. You may need to restart the game to access online features. We are still working on Update 2, where we plan to address keybinds and other things drawn from your feedback. We’re reading every review and tuning in to Discord, so please keep sharing your thoughts! Expect the next update within 2 weeks, and we will share more details as they develop.
Added a toggle to disable motion blur
Added a slider to allow moderate FOV adjustment
Added a toggle to reduce camera bounce
Added number labels to all slider widgets in settings
Updated mouse + gamepad sensitivity settings to a slider
After this change, please re-set mouse sensitivity
Added an FPS limiter
Removed resolution choice from Fullscreen, it will pull directly from your system resolution
Use Windowed mode to choose a specific resolution
Fixed an issue so the game looks better on 4k monitors and large screens
Improved error handling in the matchmaker

Hey, Thieves!
Thank you so much for the support around yesterday's launch. Here's a message from Jeff Hickman, the Game Director at OtherSide Entertainment, in response to what we're seeing in your feedback:
It's been a crazy day since the launch of Thick as Thieves. We have been playing in the shadows alongside and often with you! We have seen your adventures, exploits and escapades, and know that most of you are having a great time with this small slice of Kilcairn.
We also know there is room for improvement. I have personally read every single review to date, both from the press and from you on Steam. I hear you calling out issues, especially about the lack of settings options, and understand the points you are making. I have been very vocal at OtherSide about listening to what you have to say and making the game better based on your feedback, so...
Here is what we plan to do:
We will focus our immediate attention on settings including motion blur, head/hands bob toggle, mouse sensitivity improvements, FPS limiters and more. Some things like FOV settings might take a little more time, but we are coding as fast as we can. This first update will come as soon as possible. We expect this to be within a matter of days and will keep you posted.
We will then turn our attention to other things we are already hearing from you. Key bindings are critical and we're looking at what we can do quickly. They're more complex than the other changes and will take us a little more time to handle. We will keep analyzing your feedback on what else to include in this second update, which will come within the next two weeks.
Please keep the feedback coming, tell us what you think of Chameleon, test yourself on Master Thief, but most of all enjoy the game.
See you in the Shadows,
Jeff
The gates of Kilcairn have opened, and its riches can finally be claimed by those daring enough to Enter the Shadows. It feels amazing to invite you all to enter this world:
Welcome to Kilcairn, novice thieves.
We started with a simple question: What would make multiplayer stealth gaming compelling? That has taken us through multiple approaches, competitive and co-operative, multiple configurations of the team, and ultimately to the game you have in front of you. There were a lot of dead ends we went down and had to backtrack out of - civilians, huge city maps, direct combat. Somewhere along the way, we figured out that the heart of the game which really made it sing were moments of creative improvisation, when you’re in the world and reacting to the situation with the toolset you have, without thinking about it as a game at all.
Empowering players to solve problems their own way is core to our philosophy as a studio. Whether you’re zipping around the Guildhall as the Spider or walking past the Haunstables in Elway Manor using Disguise as the Chameleon, every session develops differently, rewarding new approaches and problem solving with other tools. Fundamentally, we’re invested in players being caught up in the moment to moment of sneaking through the world and taking its valuables.
We cannot express how exciting it is to finally put the game in your hands after all the hard work the team has done. We hugely appreciate the community who have shown up for us on Steam, in Discord, and in our playtests. Now, we’re ready to take notes on how everyone experiences the game: how you play, what you like, what you don’t, and importantly - what else you want to see.
This game is a focused version of the landscape that we have been exploring. It’s also an appetizer for a much more robust world, where thieves can explore more of the city, its history and more ways of interacting with the world and with each other.
The vaults have been sealed, riches are available to the daring, and we look forward to hearing about your exploits in the Thieves Guild. May the shadows always conceal you and your partners in crime.
Game on.

Fellow Thieves,
We’re just under two weeks away from the Triple-I Initiative on 9th April!. At the show, we’ll be lifting the veil on Thick as Thieves’ brand-new gameplay trailer alongside some other well-guarded secrets. But before all that, we want to share an update.
When we first revealed Thick as Thieves we intended to focus on PvPvE gameplay. However, as development progressed and the world of Kilcairn has come to life, we found that we were having more fun with solo and co-op play.
So, we’ve taken a decision we feel is right for the game: Thick as Thieves is now focused on two-player co-op and single player.
This sharpened focus has allowed us to double down on what makes Thick as Thieves truly special – dynamic stealth gameplay. We’re already seeing how this has strengthened the moment-to-moment action, whether you’re playing solo or with a partner in co-op. We’ve had some fantastic moments while testing the game. Now we’re putting all our energy into making things even better as we build up to launch.
We’re so excited show you more of Thick as Thieves at the Triple-I Initiative. In the meantime, come and chat all things Thick as Thieves with us in our official Discord server.
Your partners in crime,
OtherSide Entertainment

Hey Thieves!
This month, Game Informer published an article following an interview with our own Game Director, Jeff Hickman.
OtherSide is incorporating magic and speculative technology into Thick As Thieves, not only to realize a unique aesthetic but also to affect gameplay. Floating, magical sentries spotlight the guarded entrances of Kilcairn’s Scottish Baronial architecture, requiring careful consideration to bypass undetected.
Special thanks go to them for the coverage, you can read the full article here!
Hey Thieves!
