The Big Guardian is now waiting for you at the top of Frustration Fortress! The only requirement is to unlock the Guardian tower and reach the top of it.
With how many parts this battle shares with the Shamble one, I had foolishly assumed that I would be able to finish it faster, but that turned out to be very wrong. Without spoiling anything, this battle has a lot of objects in it. That's 2 battles in a row that took me a week longer than I planned. It's not looking good for the next one either, but at least I know it this time because...
I got a booth at PAX west this year! I finally get to show the game off at a big convention. I am very excited, but this does mean I have to spend the next month planning for this now. It's going to be in Seattle Washington on September 4-7th. If you're going to be there, please come visit! I would love to meet you!
1 new monster to love (Total: 116)
2 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 785)
Guardian Soul now attacks with a new combined elemental bullet type
Added elemental reactions to Guardian Soul
Several small adjustments to the attacks of the shamble tower boss
Changed the behavior of bullets that burst out of objects that bounce around the arena before popping
Increased the max scrolling speed of the in-game change log, and added markers for each main version
Bug Fix: It was possible to trigger Lila's elemental reaction phases earlier than intended
Once again already caught a few bugs before I could sit down and write these patch notes
Forgot to make the new boss actually appear in the tower
One of the new monster's parts gave more score than intended
Final bosses for the 4 remaining family towers
Endless Towers mode
More stage events for Endless Nightmare and The Towers
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
There will be a patch soon to add elemental reactions to the new battle, and a few other small things. After that, I'll have to focus on planning for PAX, and I have to make a demo version of the game that will work for that kind of setting. This means that realistically, I won't have the Glyph tower boss done until late September at the earliest, but more likely all the way into October.
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
The Big Shamble is now waiting for you at the top of the Shameful Spire! I won't spoil anything about it here. I'll just tell you the only requirement to encounter this boss is to unlock the Shamble tower and reach the top of it.
1 new monster to love (Total: 115)
2 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 783)
You can now play songs in the music room from their alternate intro if they have one
When changing the monster's level in freeplay, the changes are now always saved even if you press the back button
Mist Rain difficulty in story mode now rolls reductions to damage more often than the other 2 monster stats
Changed the appearance of challenge locks on the small card previews to make them more distinct from burdens and burdened bounties
One of the Octavia's parts used the wrong element defense values
During a Gloomy Battle with Totaria, some of her walls were immune to damage during the first 3 phases
I already had to make a small patch before this update log was published to fix a change I accidentally made to one of Burning Veyeral's achievements when working on the new boss
Link synapses created by monsters will vanish faster after they release their attacks
Bug Fix: One of Burning Veyeral's dreams was accidentally given the requirement of using several panic attacks during the battle
Final bosses for the 5 remaining family towers
Endless Towers mode
More stage events for Endless Nightmare and The Towers
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
I want to spend a week knocking out some more elemental reactions for monsters, so I'm going to get in as many as I can for a patch on July 5th. I'll decide how long I need for the boss of the Guardian tower when I upload that patch.
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
The new level 12 special monster is now available! That's pretty much the whole update this time, other than a bunch of random bug fixes. Now that this special boss is out of the way, it's finally time to start working on the final bosses for The Towers!
1 new monster to love (Total: 114)
2 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 781)
The tower dream that required having two rank-3 active burdens now requires three at once
The new elemental cycle icon in the attributes screen did not appear for feather and star shots unless it was active on heart shots
Attribute details were broken for several helper effects
The dreams for breaking a number of parts in a tower run accidentally required more parts than shown
A certain variant of void bullets did not have a tiny sprite for the tiny bullets effect
One of Rage Boiler's dreams would unlock for free during a Gloomy battle
Gifts given in certain interactions of Bonding Time events incorrectly counted toward the Free Gift dreams
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
Endless Towers mode
More stage events for Endless Nightmare and The Towers
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
The tower bosses will each have new battle songs, and I already have 3 of these songs finished. But the Shamble boss is up first, and I don't have that song ready yet, so I'll have to work on that as well. I'm going to give myself 3 weeks for this update, so I'll say the next update will be on June 19th!
Edit: Hello it's me from almost 3 weeks in the future. It turns out I really needed one more week for this one, so I'm pushing it back until June 26th.
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
The Level 11 special monster is now unlockable, and if you've seen the previous 2, then you'll have a pretty good idea of what it will be.
I've also added several new dreams for The Towers mode that I've been meaning to get to for a long time now. These gave me room to spread around some of the unlocks into The Towers. Most notably, there were 2 "Null" monsters that ended up being most people's final monster unlocks because they were really far up different unlocking chains. These have been shuffled around into these new tower dreams. I also just wanted The Towers to unlock more monsters in general, so this was a perfect way to do that.
The last big change is a bunch of adjustments to the endless modes. As I was adding the stage events to endless, I realized I had to do the balance adjustments that I was planing for later. Most of these changes don't matter much if you only go for the radiant medals, but for those of you going through 30 cycle runs, you're going to run into a lot of variants now, and probably way higher scores!
1 new monster to love (Total: 113)
13 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 779)
Moved around several dream unlocks
Some stage events can now appear in all endless modes
In all Endless modes, burdened bounties will appear randomly starting in Cycle 5
Slightly increased the spawn rate of karma gifts in later cycles of Endless Stress
Monsters in Endless Terror can have more types of bonus gifts now, and they appear more often in normal stages
Due to the changes in Endless Terror, the dream "Terrorific Twenty" is now "Terrorific Thirty" and requires 30 bonus gifts in a single run
Special monsters and Gem monsters will no longer have a guaranteed bounty in endless mode (This is now story exclusive behavior)
Loving a Gem monster will no longer remove all the other Gems from the boss pool in endless
Adjusted the costs of some gift types in the endless shop, and made cost raises slightly weighted by the ranks of the gifts you buy
Rank 1 bounties now have a 50/50 chance to be blessed or burdened in most cases (This rule only applied to rank 2 and 3 bounties before)
The effects of quick gifts could be lost when loading a quicksave after the game crashes
The attributes screen did not show the correct focus shot elements while an element overloading effect was active (Such as a Tonic)
These will mostly happen in this order, but with stage events and elemental reactions for most monsters being sprinkled in throughout
Lv 12 Special monster
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
Endless Towers mode
More stage events for Endless Nightmare and The Towers
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
I keep picking a "quick little thing" off the to-do list to work on and taking a full week on it, so I'm going to give myself a deadline of next week to finish the level 12 special monster! This way I'll actually just get right to it and finally have it done. Let's say May 30th for the new monster.
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
Okay that's another exaggeration, but all 112 current battles now have 2 new variants in addition to the Wrathful and Repelling ones! The first variant is Gloomy battles which add elemental walls to every monster, like the ones found in Null battles. If the battle already featured these walls, then I either added more, or made them even worse in some way. Gloomy battles are mutually exclusive with Wrathful and Repelling battles, so they will overwrite each other if you find multiple burdens with these effects on them.
The other variant doesn't get introduced with a name in the same way as the others. An "invader" joins in on every single battle, and this can stack with any of the other variants! In many cases, I had to specifically design some of these combinations to avoid having the battle become too unfair.
I've also caught up on the blessings and burdens for all the newest monsters, and changed the effects of a few others. The idea was to have at least 2 burdens that can activate each of the 4 variants. The 6 new bounties will also be able to activate the new variants, and 2 new stage events that feature these bounties have also been added! And for once, I actually wrote all the memory text for these on time.
One last thing is I implemented stage events into The Towers! I carried over all the current stage events that would make sense to activate in that game mode for now. This includes all the events that force specific types of bounties or challenges to appear. This was done in preparation for adding towers exclusive stage events, but they are limited to the 3 randomized towers for now. The monster family towers need a little more work to port these events over.
All monsters now have a Gloomy variant
All monsters now have an Invader variant that can stack with the 3 other variants
5 new blessings (Total: 135)
5 new burdens (Total: 125)
6 new Bounty gifts (Total: 54)
2 new stage events (Total: 90)
9 of the currently available stage events can now appear in The Towers
Added effects the these Burdens: Roundsaw and Rage Duet
Changed the effects of these Burdens: Alter Roundsaw, Null Roundsaw, Ombroah, and Stella
Changed the effects of these Blessings: Shiny Knot Knott and Chionotoh
Added a small bit to the memories of Nix Polyps and Tox Polyps Blessings to match with the new polyp Blessings
Switched around a few quickplay dream unlocks
Spicy Fruit is now always unlocked
Slightly changed the art for Orb of Wrath. Turns out I accidentally used a version with less fire than intended.
Staying still to reduce poisoned health did not work in autoscrolling fortress battles
These will mostly be happening in this order, but with stage events and elemental reactions for most monsters being sprinkled in throughout
Special monsters for Lv 11 and Lv 12
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
Endless Towers mode
Stage events for all Endless Modes and The Towers
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
I didn't get to the 2 new special monsters after all, so they will be added in the next update along with anything else I can get done. This will be on May 22nd!
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
My main focus with this update was finally adding a 4th button to menu controls. The main purpose of this button is to be able to check the details of any gift within any event. It's also now the "remove gift" button for equipping stuff in quickplay, so you can actually use "check heart" in that menu now.
I've needed to add this button for a looong time, but there was a big reason I procrastinated on it for so long. I couldn't simply add a new button binding, because there is always a chance it would default to a key or button that you're already using. This could lead to a softlock where you can't get to the options menu to fix your buttons! If you've changed any of your menu controls, then your keys had to be reset. You will get a message on the title screen if this applies to you.
While I was already adding the 4th button and resetting your controls anyways, I figured I'd go ahead and add 2 more buttons for a heavily requested feature. I've added 2 tab buttons so you can actually cycle through all your monster choices without having to press back every time! This is actually something that was bothering me for a long time, and I'm glad it's finally done.
Are new menu controls really enough for an anniversary update? Of course not! I also made 2 new rare special monsters! One for level 9 and one for level 10. Yeah, I know. I can't help myself. It's a sickness. I have to make boss battles every so often or I'll go insane. Preparations weren't quite ready for starting the Family Tower bosses, so here you go!
One last thing. I made it so bullets will break when they touch you. This was actually a bug that happened by accident, but I kinda liked it, so I wanted to leave it in and see how it feels. If it causes any strange problems, then I might revert this change.
2 new monsters to love (Total: 112)
4 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 766)
Added new buttons for menu navigation!
Monster bullets now break when they hit you
Changed some of the inputs for navigating the boss selection menu
You can now use the new tab left and right buttons to cycle between boss choices without having to back out every time
You can now check the details of any gift you have selected within every single event
Added the ability to Check Heart when choosing soups and chips in certain events
Changed the wording on some gift effect details
Boiler Helpers now gain 3 fire rate per hit instead of 2
Candle and Nightlight now reveal 3 extra monsters instead of 2
Slightly adjusted luck values in many game modes and special stages
In all monster family towers, the selection of special monsters will now exclude any that can't overlevel up to the stage's base level
The previously unnamed effect that makes all monsters always offer at least 2 gifts will now appear as "Super Charming" in the attributes page
Having the "Super Charming" effect on the final stage of story mode will now make all bosses offer 2 tetrid bonus gifts, or karma if you've reached the run limit
Choosing "Nobody" in the first part of a gift delivery event would result in a bigger selection of gifts than intended
Added a missing tracker for battles won on the new Repelling Monsters event
In some Bonding Time events, it was possible to get the wrong options by quickly mashing through text during a background transition that cost 0 time units
Some text on the Summon Solara screen would be misaligned if you did not have enough karma for the summon
Violet's repelling variant used Zap instead of Void element for her danger bubbles
Some quick gifts that should not reroll gifts would always reroll any bounty gifts found on special monsters. This is only meant to happen if the monster becoming overleveled results in the bounty score going over the run limit.
Before I get to the family tower bosses, there are a few other loose ends that I want to tie up. I'll be patching the game every week until a lot of these things are done. This includes things like finishing up the 4 missing interactions in the Gift Delivery events, and some interactions from a few Bonding Time events. I also want to catch up on blessings and burdens from the new monsters, and clean out as much of the "To Do" list as possible. I'm confessing right now, that I've also already planned a rare special boss for level 11 and 12 during this time.
When I'm satisfied with those weekly updates, this will be the order of the remaining features.
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
A few events for Endless Stress
Endless Towers mode
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
As I said above, I'll be patching the game about once a week for the next few weeks! Then I'll get to the tower bosses after that.
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
v8.31a - January 20th, 2026 -It's my birthday, so I'm giving you the gift of electronic body modifications! -5 new bonus gifts to find (Total: 78) -1 new dream to fulfill (Total: 762) -Moved around a few unlocks -Added the ending scenes for each character in Shanx's event -Added ++5 cards to Shanx's event, and fixed a bug that prevented ++4 cards from appearing -Added the description to Shanx's event in the collection -Slightly changed the text in Shanx's blessings and burdens to match her speech quirks better -Adjusted the color of green mites for mite minigames to contrast better with the blue ones -Bug Fix: Tiny polyps would continue to spawn after Volt Polyps was defeated -Bug Fix: Breaking tiny polyps in Volt Polyp's battle would recharge more energy than intended -Bug Fix: Running out of bonding time in Dendrohai's event would sometimes not skip the treasure reward screen
And then I had to do another little patch
v8.31b - January 20th, 2026
-Bug Fix: It was possible to break tiny volt polyps as they spawned by using a panic on the opposite side of the screen
-Bug Fix: Accidentally made Dendrohai always skip the treasure rewards for searching minigames
It's been a while since I've been able to add both a new event and a new monster battle in the same update. The new monster is one more for the True Panic event. This will fill that pretty common event with a lot more variety.
I've also finally added Shanx's event! The new minigame itself is pretty ambitious in a similar way to the one from Kiwi's event. Maybe it goes on for a little too long as well, but I know some of you will love it! There's still a little bit of writing I need to do for the event, but I'll patch it in within the next few days. Now that all the monster events are done, I can finally put a huge checkmark in the grand "to do" list. The end is in sight!
1 new monster to love (Total: 110)
1 new event to discover (Total: 86)
3 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 761)
Added a new attack to Wisp's battle
Increased the score gained from Wisp, but you will have to redo her quickplay battle to regain her radiant medal
Added color outlines to Nix Polyps and Tox Polyps, and also adjusted their card art and dream icons
In battles with Nix Polyps and Ember Polyps, polyps that use vertical beams will now disable them if they get very close to the edge of the screen
The Battery bonus gift will now fill your charge bar to 200% when you receive it
Added hints for discovering the helper bonus gifts that require you to have specific types of helpers to appear
Added a 1 second delay to Calorie's burning arena attack when starting her 2nd phase
Bug Fix: Blue bubble helpers such as Umbrella did not shrink faster when dealing damage as intended
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
Endless Towers mode
A few events for Endless Stress
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
I want to have something done for the game's 8th early access anniversary. I don't know what it'll be yet, but I got to have something ready for February 14th!
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
Surprise update! It's a Boxing Day miracle! So what's in the box? It's 2 new, completely unplanned, special monsters!
The first is actually now the easiest battle in the whole game. This monster fills the singular Level 1 slot for special monsters, but there is another purpose for including her. Normally when I want to test the power of certain gifts, I would set Blot to secret dev "sandbag" mode, so that she won't do any attacks or change phases. There are a few players that wanted something like this to be accessible in-game, so I've converted my "sandbag" into this new battle! She will usually be capped at Level 1, but In Freeplay her level can be set all the way up to 999, and she won't attack you at all if you raise her level anywhere above 1. Perfect for all you build crafters out there.
The other new battle is finally a 3rd option for the True Panic event. But this time it's one of the new Avoidant battles. I want to put this danger bubble mechanic into as many places as I can, but If I add any more common monsters, I'd potentially have to add all new events, personalities, character art, and rebalance The Towers mode again. Good thing I don't have to worry about ANY of that with this new monster. This is also why I recently changed a few battles that already existed into avoidant battles. I specifically choose ones that didn't have anything particularly special going on in them already.
2 new monsters to love! (Total: 109)
4 new dreams to fulfill (Total: 758)
Added a missing a shine animation for one of Dandy's glyphs
For all minigames with mites, the yellow mites have been changed to a light blue color to help colorblind players distinguish them better
Changed the monster that introduces The Towers mode
Nothing this time
Shanx's Bonding Time event
Final bosses for the 6 family towers
One more boss that appears in the True Panic event
Endless Towers mode
A few events for Endless Stress
A mode for playing event minigames outside of story runs
A few more story scenes for Her Heart and Defect in Story and Altered Story modes
I'm moving Shanx's event back a week until January 9th. See you then! (I ended up being sick for much of the first week of this year, so I'm actually going to push the update back another week for January 16th)
Thank you for playing! ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː ːradiantheartː
