The Third Shift news & patch notes

Hey gang, Got a tiny one here for you today. This one goes out to the achievement hunters out there. Fixes -Fixed issue with the Pop cap in the Garbage can of the Aquarium Office with all the skin and clothesnot attributing to the overall count of the Pop Caps, thus not giving the achievement if you've gotten a certain amount. -Fixed issue with a quarter not appearing in the employee lounge after defeating Bertha. It didn't have the code to move along with the scrolling room, so it remained off screen. I've added another option to get it in the aquarium since that room is off limits after a certain time, negating the achievement if folks are trying to collect all the pinched pennies. And that's about it! Truly sorry for anyone trying to 100% the game and having these be your downfall. This should fix everything alongside that. If you have the Pop Caps but not the achievement, if you go to your inventory and view the Pop Caps it should give you the achievement now. Thanks, and have a great rest of the week! -Scottie

Hey gang, how's it going? Just another small one this week. How's everyone enjoying the game so far? Fixes -Fixed issue with Page 14 and Pop Cap 14 being invisible due to either a depth issue or a color issue. Both should be corrected and able to get much easier now. Sorry about that! -Adjusted Mama spawning outside of the job exhibit. I saw one playthrough where if the player comes out of the exhibit too quickly without Mama spawning behind them, they'll teleport in front of them once they leave. Nothing Personal kid. -Fixed issue with Mama causing a crash if she gets you after you tase her. It shouldn't happen now. And that's about it. Still making my way to those QOL fixes, just taking it a bit more easier these days as the launch traumatized me a bit haha. I'll be back at it though and in working order here soon. Hey gang, did you all miss me? Just another small one today. QOL -Got steam screenshots working! This is my bad, I was under the impression that it was natively part of Gamemaker Steam integration. I didn't realize I had to set up the little bit of code myself. Sorry about that, F12 should be working as intended. If it isn't though, let me know! -Added a new Achievement Nothing Personal - Tase Daniel for over 10 seconds Fixes -Fixed issue with the locker not being accessible after Daniel puts your present in there. This one was a bit hard to replicate, so its another one that I put a few failsafes on to make sure its working. (adjusted its hit box, added more options to the trigger code) And that's it for this update. I'd like to work on resizing the window here soon, it's just causing a bit of issue. I've also got a CRT effect working, but unfortunately it causes issues with the dialogue and text box. I've gotta do some tinkering with it a bit more. Thanks for playing everyone. Hey anyone and everyone, Saw there was a soft lock on the discussions tab. -(hopefully) fixed issue with Albert causing a soft lock in the body exhibit hallway. Had trouble replicating it, but I've put in some fail safes to hopefully alleviate the soft lock. Also, saw that a possible pop cap was missing in the Fallout Shelter so if you're missing one, check the room with all the Mama Jo's garbage Thanks everyone, have a great day! -Scottie

Hey gang, Just a tiny update today, nothing crazy. -Fixed issue where after fixing the filtration pumps, players could go straight to the Roanoke exhibit and bypass Cryptids and Our Roanoke exhibits. Hey everyone! Hope you've been enjoying the game so far, and hopefully its been a nice and smooth experience after all these bug fixes!! Coming at you with a few QOL things and some fixes. QOL -Added some signage to the bottom of the exits of "Cryptids" and "Our Roanoke" to help guide where the "Mystery of Roanoke" exhibit is -Added some signage in the back of the exhibit to show where the Fallout Shelter is. -Added a few more info bits to the indigenous exhibit -Added missing lore bit to the Fallout Shelter -Made it so notebook pages are saved throughout all files just like the pop caps. Hopefully this is helpful for folks looking to get those achievements. -Added text after getting the keeping the crowbar to let folks know to keep it a secret from Daniel -Added arrows to the emblem puzzle in the jobs exhibit of Roanoke to let folks know they can rotate the wheels up and down. -Spaced out Albert's story a bit more so it's easier to read through if you're reading aloud. Also reduced the speed of the background animation as to not be as distracting from the text. Fixes -Made it so a certain character doesn't reappear in a location they aren't supposed to be in. -Fixed issue with the gate at the end of the indigenous exhibit causing a soft lock if it's toggled while the camera is panning. -Fixed issue with Albert appearing over the inventory screen in a certain area. -Fixed issue with Pop Caps being removed after starting a new playthrough. -Fixed text going out of bounds on Connie's Final Transmission -Fixed depth issue with the body display in the 2nd maze room. And I think that about covers all of it. Like I always say, if you find anything buggy or the game breaks, please let me know! Always happy to fix anything that comes my way. Hey everyone! A small update for you all today. Not much has come across my desk lately... are you all holding out on me?!? or is the game *finally* super stable? QOL update: -Added a water cooler in the cryptids, back in the bigfoot exhibit Fixes: -Fixed issue with the camera shaker at the end of the game causing a crash if the player is using the taser while it's doing its shake. -Fixed issue with two Mamasspawning in the jobs exhibit if you enter the dial room while being chased. I now have it set so you can't enter if you already have the cross. -Adjusted Mama's spawn rate after getting a cross piece in the artifacts and dig site first. I haven't been able to replicate it, but I've been told she can be aggressive after getting these pieces first. If she's still acting up, please let me know! -Made a few more adjustments to the locked door in the sewersafter unlocking. I was told a player experienced a bug where they unlocked it, but it wasn't fully unlocked until they left and re-entered the room. This one has been *very* tough to replicate, so I've just been throwing failsafes at it until it works properly for everyone. But please feel free to let me know if it causes you issues. And I believe that's it... I've been keeping an eye out in the discussion tab and nothing urgent has been popping up. I'll take that as a good sign. PSYCHE, back again tonight. After help from a person's playthrough, I was able to narrow down why the secret ending wasn't happening for folks. It was literally a "," misplaced in the load file code for the medicine bag you give Albert. I'm so sorry gang, it should be working now. Thanks. -Scottie

Hey everyone, Sorry about that last update. When I went to fix the issue with starting a new game immediately after beating the game, there was one line of code left in that set the save states to zero every time you started. Dumb mistake on my part. I've tested it now multiple times amongst multiple files and it seems to be in working order. I don't mind a bug or a glitch here and there, but when it comes to peoples saves that's where I get a little upset. So, deeply sorry to anyone that had issues starting a new game. And I want to say that's it for now. If anything pops up please let me know. I think aside from any fixes, I want to try and get a fullscreen toggle working soon so that way folks can take screenshots. Anyway, I think I'd like to take a small break from the game, maybe a day or two. It's been a little nonstop, and coupled with the day job I'm very burnt out. Bet you all thought there wouldn't be an update tonight, didnt ya? QOL Updates: -If there's a save, the main menu will now automatically start on Clock In instead of New Shift. -Added another achievement: Pennies Pinched. Had this requested and it made sense, sorry it wasn't already in there to begin with. Fixes: -Fixed issue with the text for the fallout shelter having an overlap if you spam the A button while the camera pans around the room and back to the player -Fixed the start menu from having the notebook disappear if you hit the start button again but have the Pop Caps or Map up. -Fixed issue where if you save in the Dig section of Roanokethen die without getting the cross piece, the player would have to leave then come back to refresh the dig hunt -Fixed issue with some data carrying over from a beaten game after going immediately into a new save file without leaving the game. And I think that's about all I messed with today. I always worry that I broke something in the process while doing these updates. I hope that's not the case. But if it is, as you all are already aware, you can reach out to me with anything that pops up and I'll do my best to fix it. Thank you all so much. -Scottie

Hey everyone! A new day, a new update. I long for a day soon where there will be no updates... but I just want to make sure I address everyone's feedback and make the game all the better because of it. QOL Update -Bumped up the health that pills provide by a little bit. Also added an extra pill in the fallout shelter. Hope this helps alleviate some frustration while getting chased around in the museum. -Added an achievement for getting Ending A since some folks asked for it. (Honestly it slipped my mind that it wasn't there) Fixes -Fixed issue with going to the inventory right after changing rooms in first person creating two cursors instead of one. -Fixed issue with a notebook page not being saved, as well as one notebook page giving the wrong one in the book. -Fixed issue in aquarium where an enemy spawn could cause a crash. -Fixed Bigfoot's flap from going cycling its image index after getting the switch from him -Fixed issue with the table in the aquarium break room from disappearing And that should be it for today. I've noticed there's been folks having issues with a certain door in the sewerscausing a soft lock after moving through it? I haven't been able to replicate it myself, but I tried and put a failsafe in there to fix it just in case. If this happens to you, please let me know! Trying to narrow it down and it's been tough. Getting so close gang, my hope is that the list gets smaller and smaller each day till I don't have to fix any more. Truly sorry these things happen. Hey hey, just coming in with a small tweak! For the Fallout Shelterthe biggest problem has been the typewriter, it's been throwing folks for a loop. I've added a few more options for the solvability factor of the puzzle. After watching folks play, a lot of times they would do a line break from the start, or think that they need to type out the answers in a sentence. I've made the puzzle just a bit more easier to solve as well with a more straightforward hint at the top of the page. Didn't mean to put in such a stumper with this one, sorry folks! It should be just a biiiiit more easier, while still providing a little bit of challenge. Thanks! -Scottie

Hey Gang! Hope everyone's been enjoying the game! Not much has come across my desk these past two/three days, so I think its safe to say things are finally starting to come up green across the board. The first of the QOL roll out, stamina changes! -Doubled the speed at which stamina replenishes, and gave a little depending on which energy level the player is at. -Added a notification icon for when stamina replenishes over time. -Fixed a typo with Connie at the start -Blocked area in the legion exhibit of the bodies where players can wiggle behind a pillar -Fixed overlapping dialogue when picking up Schmitty's notebook. Just a few things brought up that I wanted to fix before the night ended, don't mind me! -Fixed Splitty's Death Screento show the correct image -Fixed the dancer in the sewersfrom being skipped if the player got out of the room fast enough. -Fixed door in the main lobby to not open after a certain event takes place. Good afternoon everyone! Another day, another update. -Fixed issue with the elevator music playing again after returning from the roof, which lead to it looping over and over. -Fixed issue with players being able to backtrack to the aquarium after a certain point and re-triggering some events from the past. -Fixed water bottles in the Fallout Shelterfrom causing a soft lock -Fixed issue with the first shrine to the left in the fallout shelter being able to have a string detached even if its not the current objective, leading to a soft lock -Fixed issue with toolbox in the Mothman EMP room showing the wrong sprite after getting a certain item from it. -Fixed issue with being able to take the boards off of Connie's door after you attempt to save her -Fixed music issue with loading a save in the body exhibit gift shop after the ending is set in motion it should now play the correct song. -Fixed date on the bigfoot skull to properly match the code that's supposed to work on the safe. This totally slipped by me, sorry for those that this affected. Dumb mistake on my part. And I think that's it! We're almost bug free gang! The next few days will be QOL changes like I was saying. More water, More pills, hopefully less frustration. I'm gonna step out for a bit today, but i'll keep my eyes peeled for anything else that pops up and push any fixes tonight. Alright, I know I said no update today, but I got off work early and had some time before the partner was off theirs! -Fixed the delete save bug on the main menu, files should be deleted and rotated correctly now. -Adjusted Mama in the jobs and colony exhibit I was able to narrow down where the issues were and replicate where some doors weren't working properly if she was chasing you. I've also adjusted her spawn rate after 3 crosses in the Colony/Jobs exhibits. Also fixed issue where she would spawn infinitely in the colony exhibit (thought I fixed that...) If you notice anything weird or busted, please let me know! -gave the typewriter puzzle a bit more guidance. It seems that the directions I laid out were too cryptic, so there's more detail on the paper near the garbage can by the desk. -Adjusted objects that the player sprite could clip through -moved the pill bottles in the first aid kit of the Fallout Shelter as they were too close and could be triggered together, causing a soft lock -Fixed issue where Albert could talk twice when he goes away in the body exhibit -Fixed issue with enemies spawning in the aquarium after they aren't supposed to (if you know what I mean) -Fixed sprites in body exhibit to properly convey what happens later on. And that about wraps it for now. From what folks are telling me, the game is getting more and more stable. Can't tell you how anxious all the bugs have made me over the week, but it looks like its finally getting wrapped up. Woke from a bad dream and immediately looked at the discussions to see if something was wrong. The Radio chatter at the end of Cryptids and History should be fixed now. I can't seem to get it to soft lock on me. I've tested this a few times now with all the variables If you meet Connie and if you tell Daniel or not, or if you don't meet her I'm gonna bring my laptop to work, but please feel free to reach out if this happens again. Just wanted to fix these real quick as they were brought to my attention a little bit ago and didn't want them sitting there while I had my day off tomorrow. -Fixed issue With Daniels text overlaying when you are confronted with him after the final boss -Fixed issue with enlarged security frame appearing in the room after being caught by an enemy Phew, sorry for three updates in one night. It's either let the bugs sit and affect folks or just fix em right up, and it's hard for me to sleep knowing someone is getting hit by these things. Hey ya'll, just some small fixes with this one. -Fixed issue with palette not saving after loading/going to the main screen -gave the shoulder buttons the ability to change palettes (Sorry this took so long) -Fixed issue with players getting a "Thanks for playing screen" from the demo (If you played for 5 hours before moving past a certain section, this would trigger -FINALLY found what might be the issue with the radio chatter within the cryptids and history exhibit. I was looking at the wrong one the entire time. Should be safe from softlocks. I tried to replicate it but couldn't so if it's still a problem please let me know! -Fixed trashcan in Aquarium office from giving overlayed text. -Fixed issue with players getting stuck after escaping Mama in the dig section of Roanoke If the player was quick to leave before the enemy appeared, they'd be locked in combat. I think I'll be taking a small break tomorrow if this all permits. I've been a little burnt out and I need a breather. Plus its my partner and I's anniversary. Good evening everyone! Sorry for the late fixes, I had a double at the day job (6am to 6:30pm) and let me tell you, seeing things pop up that I can't fix KILLS ME. But I digress. -Finally fixed issue with Connie's radio chatter I was finally able to replicate what was going on and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this. Now when you leave the cryptid of history exhibit, she should reach out to you -Fixed elevator from being used again after being busted -Fixed door in Sewersfrom causing a soft lock after going through and coming back. -Fixed Albert's hitbox in Roanoke from not dissapearing -Fixed Dancer's capture animation from letting you move around freely while captured -Fixed collision issue in the lobby hallway from player getting stuck during the ending -Fixed death screen showing the wrong death for a certain enemy And that's roughly it for today. There's still more that's been brought to my attention that I'd like to fix, but I wanted to push this one through after figuring out the issue with the first issue listed above. I can't thank you all enough for helping me make this game the best it can be. Truly sorry these bugs are happening. You think you fix one, only to break another thing. I think this is perhaps the most stable build so far... until something else breaks... haha but I'll be there when it happens! -Fixed a few more issues with the cursor dialogue causing soft locks -added more barriers so enemies can't walk over certain objects and walls -Fixed spawn issues with enemies in the fallout shelter -Fixed issue with players still being able to move after getting captured And that's it for now. Good afternoon everyone! Sorry for the delay, but I think this update fixed everything that got messed up with that last update. EXTREMELY sorry about that, it was one of those things where fixing one thing broke another. -Fixed issue with cursor text messing up sporadically throughout the game (I tried my best to test this out all around the museum and everything seemed in working order, but there may be a few more issues out there with this, and if you spot one please let me know!) -Fixed issue with Albert displaying the wrong sprite when talking to him -Fixed issue with a certain character radio chatter messing up other things -Fixed issue with The key in the fallout shelter from throwing some overlapped text when acquiring it And a few other things here and there. Again, deeply sorry for the bugs that affected you all. We're a small team and testing things out can be strenuous with such a big museum. We hope you understand. I've got a full day today, so i'll be keeping an eye out, but tomorrow I work a double at my day job so I wont be as quick with any fixes. Please forgive me! Thank you all so much, -Scottie
