2nd Anniversary Celebration Illustration By @i3eanCurd
Hi, I'm “Chalkseagull”, the creator of .
It's been two years since I first published my game on Steam.
I didn't get to say thank you on the first anniversary last year because I was busy preparing for college graduation, so this is my belated thank you.
For two years, much longer than I expected, the game has been steadily sold and played.
For a game with so many flaws, I'm so grateful you enjoyed it.
Looking back, was a story about dreams and goals.
Jay Smith is a man running away from an unattainable dream, Rivera is a man trying to reach his dreams no matter what,
and Tella is obsessed with an unattainable dream.
And I think the whole game was a giant allegory about people chasing their dreams.
Regardless of the ending, both characters ended up living with their dreams in the real world and remembering the past.
Now, two years after completing the game, I'm still pursuing my dream of making games.
I was able to go to a game-related university to study development professionally, and now I'm about to graduate and release another game.
There have been many ups and downs along the way, but it's the attention and love I've received from these games that has kept me going.
Whenever I feel disappointed or doubt myself, I think back to all the warm feelings I've received from this game and say to myself
“I'm not wrong. No matter what, let's move forward.”.
Whether it was in the game or in real life, it was love that saved me from despair and helped me hold on to my dreams.
The croc loved his bird,
The bluebird loved herself as she met the croc,
The girl who sat down and hardened herself loved her past.
And I am in love with my game and my dream.
The four years I spent making this game,
and the two years of growth since I made it,
and I hope to love it even more in the future.
What about you?
What do you love and what are you working towards?
In the words of the late Ryuichi Sakamoto, I'm often faced with reality,
I don't know how many games I'll be able to bring to the world in the future.
The world seems too big and too harsh for me to make something of my own.
Nevertheless, I have no choice but to keep moving forward.
When I get tired of the drying up of the world, I will remember the love you have given me.
And the games I will make,
I will endeavor to reach you with the love I have in my heart, just one more time.
Thank you for loving my games for two years.
I will make better games in the future.
Thank you.
