Fixed a bug that could cause the player to become stuck when adopting a wild horse.
Hey Ranchers! Here's a small patch to fix issues found in the last update.
General Changes
Fixed an issue where upgrading the stable would cause stabled horses to be stuck in walls or under the world (and then disappear completely).
Fixed an issue where multiple horses could be taken out of the stable at the same time.
Fixed an issue preventing the player from leading stabled horses under certain circumstances.
Changed the distance that wild horses keep between themselves and the player. Non-leaders will now remain closer to the player, while the leader will remain further away.
Thank you all for your patience!
Hi Ranchers! We've been working on a small patch since the last update came out to fix reported issues and improve the overall game performance. We’ve also improved the wild horse behaviour to be more realistic, and they can now all be herded together!
Improved the wild horse behavior. Each wild horse herd now has a lead stallion, and horses can be herded together much more easily!
Fixed an issue where wild horses could get stuck on rocks or in corners.
Fixed the camera tilting left and right while on sloped surfaces. This will also fix an issue where mounting your horse on a slope would leave the camera tilted until you dismount.
Improved the camera collision to stop colliding with certain objects such as trees, fences, horses and villagers. This should prevent the camera from getting stuck inside the player's head and make the camera smoother overall.
Hid the mouse cursor at all times when playing on controller.
Possibly fixed a game breaking bug that could occur after purchasing a stable upgrade.
Fixed various issues that would cause the game to become laggier over time.
Fixed various issues that would cause multiple interfaces to be visible at the same time.
Added that F can close the horse interface again.
Removed the ability to press Escape during the initial character creation.
Updated the Switch and Playstation button icons to be displayed correctly across all interfaces and during the tutorial.
Changed the text displayed when buying a festival horse.
Fixed the ability to scroll in the auction house on controller
Fixed an issue where villagers would walk away from the player while on horseback.
Thank you all for your patience, and I hope you'll enjoy this update!

Howdy Ranchers! 🐴✨ I’m back with a new update for Rivershine that includes native controller support, a photo mode, a genetic update, new coat colors, and many quality of life improvements and bug fixes!
The Ranch of Rivershine now features native controller support!
There are multiple new settings to customize your controller experience, such as:
Gamepad sensitivity
Inverted controls
Gamepad input rebinding
Gamepad button style (while the game defaults to Xbox buttons, you can change these to Switch or Playstation!)
➡️ If you are using a Playstation, Switch, or 8BitDo controller, please make sure to enable Steam Input for your controller to work correctly!
Wisely pair your horses and discover three new breeding exclusive coat types… Brindle Dun, Brindle Roan and Dun Roan! Each coat type has 9 unique coat colors, which means there are a total of 27 new coat colors to find in Rivershine!
Along with this, I’ve also updated how coat colors are determined for the foals. I’ll explain how it previously worked, and how it now works with an example:
In the old genetic system, if the mare had a Cream Roan coat, and the stallion had a Dun coat, the foal had a 50% chance of inheriting either coat. This means it could only have these coats:
Dun
Cream Roan
In the new genetic system, double coat colors can be split or mixed with the other parent. For example, if the mare has a Cream Roan coat, and the stallion has a Dun coat, the foal now has a chance of having any one of these coats:
Cream
Roan
Dun
Cream Roan
Cream Dun
Dun Roan
If the parents have a double coat color, the foal will also have a higher chance of having a double coat color. I hope this change will make the breeding more dynamic and interesting, especially if you have a main stallion or breed the same pair multiple times!
Get ready to snap pictures of your favorite horses in Rivershine! Access the new photo mode by pressing P on your keyboard or Left Bumper on your controller.
While you can use the photo mode to simply hide the game interface, it also includes the ability to move the camera around, change the FOV, and speed up or slow down time, all to help you get that perfect shot!
All of your screenshots will be saved in your Windows folder here: C:\\Users\\Username\\AppData\\Local\\TheRanchOfRivershine\\Saved\\Screenshots\\Windows
Added the ability to interact from horseback with certain items, such as NPCs, shop counters, competition boards and travel stones.
Removed the energy limit from the human player sprint, which is now infinite.
Added a new free camera mode for the human player that can be toggled using the Free Camera hotkey (Left Alt or Right stick press).
Added a hotkey to switch between first and third person. (G or Left stick press)
Reworked the map interface to be clearer and easier to use.
Improved the visual indication that buttons are hovered or pressed across all interfaces.
Added a new setting called “Hold to Jump”. Turning this on allows the jump input key to be held in advance, causing the horse to automatically jump over an obstacle once they arrive at the jump. The jump input key must still be released between jumps.
Improved the overall game optimization.
Changed it so horses can’t get sick in the first 45 days, as sick horses can put too much strain on the early game.
Increased the auction sale value of horses that have a double coat color, mealy, dapple, flaxen or silver genes.
Increased the resale value of items (now 90% of the original price instead of 75%).
Increased the value of eggs, wool and fur.
Increased the speed of the camera zoom in and out when using the mouse wheel.
Balanced the turn speed on horseback to be consistent across all keyboard, mouse and controller inputs.
Fixed how interfaces are displayed across all screen sizes and ratios.
Fixed an issue where the game would freeze after bringing a foal in the pasture.
Fixed an animation issue where the horse kept turning in place after opening an interface, when waiting for a competition to start or when dismounting.
Fixed an issue that would cause orchard grass to not be gatherable.
Fixed an issue causing the villagers to not do their chores, despite receiving a notification that they did.
Fixed an issue causing the villagers to never do chores on the first day of a play session.
Fixed a bug that caused the player to get stuck when interacting with their pet and a wild horse at the same time.
Fixed an issue where the camera height would be set too low on the first mount or after exiting first person.
Improved the way jumps are detected after elevation changes.
Fixed an issue where horses would teleport in front of the auction house when leaving the auction even if they were previously tied up.
Changed the HUD action keybinds to match the player’s custom keybinds.
Fixed an issue where wild horses that have been brought to the wild horse pen would continuously rear up when the player’s horse walks nearby.
Fixed a mouse input lag issue when mounting a horse.
Fixed an issue that would make the player fly up when mounting a horse on an incline.
Removed some of the unnecessary black screen transitions to smooth out the gameplay.
Fixed a bug where catching a wild horse before inspecting a horse at the festival caused the horse information to not update properly.
Added more names for the rival horses displayed at the end of competitions.
I’ll soon begin working on a language update that will be released later this year. This update will include further bug fixes, along with localization in multiple languages.
Thank you all for your patience and happy horsing around!
