Hi everyone,
We’ve been working on a major logistics update for The Last Factory, focused on making factory storage feel more useful, readable, and flexible.
The biggest change is source-side extraction. Conveyors and Splitters can now pull items directly from the module they are connected to. They check normal output buffers first, then storage-style inventories such as Storage Bins and turret ammo reserves. This makes Storage Bins work more naturally as local buffers inside a production line instead of needing manual export direction setup.
Storage Bins have also been reworked. They now store one item type, can be optionally locked to accept a specific item, and show the stored item visually on the module. Their capacity has been increased from 16 to 64, making them much more useful for smoothing out production spikes and keeping build materials available.
This update also includes improved upgrade visibility. Module info panels and build surfaces now show upgraded variant stat details more clearly, and upgraded modules have clearer visual treatment in-game.
For desktop builds, we’ve continued preparing the game for Steam. Windows uses the Electron build, while macOS now uses the faster Mac Catalyst build. We also improved Mac input behavior, scroll zoom handling, save-and-quit behavior, and release packaging/signing checks.
Full highlights:
- Conveyors and Splitters can extract from source-side modules
- Storage Bins now act as passive local logistics buffers
- Storage Bin capacity increased from 16 to 64
- Optional item locking for Storage Bins
- Stored item icons are displayed on Storage Bins
- Stasis Lifts and build costs can use stored bin inventory
- Upgraded modules now show clearer stats and visuals
- Save & Quit now saves progress before closing the app
- macOS Steam build now uses Capacitor Mac Catalyst for better performance
- Fixed macOS audio behavior so game sound does not appear in OS media controls
- Improved Steam build staging and release checks
Thanks for following development. The factory systems are getting closer to the shape we want for release, and this update is a big step toward making logistics easier to understand while still keeping the optimization depth.
