🎲 What Terra Concordia really is
It's a
digital civilization eurogame for 1 to 4 players. You lead a people that explores a hex continent, gathers resources, builds, researches technologies and completes objectives. If you enjoy euro-style strategy board games — resource management, tight decisions, low luck and zero player elimination — you'll feel at home.
It's not a military-conquest 4X. There's no unit combat. The contest is about
efficiency and points, not taking land by force (though you can "steal" a hex with Influence).
💡 The design decision that defines everything
Terra Concordia has a
Global Sustainability meter (0–10) shared by everyone. Each player competes for victory — but everyone depends on the same planet. If Sustainability hits zero,
the match ends and EVERYONE loses, including whoever was winning.
That creates the game's core tension: you want to explore and produce as much as possible, but unchecked production drags the meter down. Cooperating keeps the production bonus for all; letting it fall can knock the leader out of contention — or sink the whole table together. That question — "what if competing and cooperating were the same decision?" — is why I built this game.
✅ Who this game is for
- People who like eurogames (Terra Mystica, Wingspan, Tzolk'in and cousins) and want a lean digital one
- People who play solo: 6 scenarios with their own goals + free play against the AI
- People who want quick multiplayer with friends without a complicated setup (LAN or online via Steam)
- People who value depth over AAA production: the focus here is the mechanics, not cutting-edge graphics
🚫 Who this game is NOT for (being fair to you)
- Anyone wanting tactical combat or war — there are no unit battles here
- Anyone expecting an AI that bluffs and adapts: the Automa is a deterministic, scripted opponent (great for practice and solo, but it doesn't "read" you; difficulty tweaks its starting advantage, not its cleverness)
- Anyone after 3D graphics / cinematic animation — the presentation is clean and functional, digital-board-game style
- Anyone who only plays multiplayer with matchmaking and ranked queues: online here is for playing with people you arranged (friends/Discord), not a competitive ladder
🔬 What I learned from testing (from someone who played hundreds of matches)
- Your first game confuses; your third hooks you. The learning curve is real but short — which is why I made the "First Empire" scenario (6 rounds) and the Beginners variant (no events) to ease you in.
- The moment that delights playtesters most is when someone realizes that sabotaging Sustainability can be a valid play — and the whole table goes into cooperative panic.
- Solo and multiplayer ask for different mindsets: solo is a race against a goal; in MP you read the others.
🛠️ Being honest about the scope (it's a one-dev indie)
- Launching on Windows. Linux/macOS are on the post-launch radar, with no promised date.
- In online multiplayer, if someone drops/disconnects mid-match, the match ends and the others win by forfeit — there is no reconnection right now. A 60s per-turn timer keeps anyone from stalling the table.
- Fully playable and localized in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Chinese is on the roadmap, not at launch.
- It's made by one person. That means bugs will show up — and also that I respond fast. Report them and I fix them (target: 24h, GMT-3 timezone).
🗺️ Where it's headed
The game is complete and playable today. What comes next — new scenarios, balancing, languages, quality-of-life — will depend heavily on who plays and what you ask for. The post-launch roadmap is driven by real feedback, not a plan locked in a drawer.
🌍 How to help (if you like the idea)
- Add it to your Wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4791670 — it's what helps an indie most on Steam
- Join the Discord and tell me what you think: https://discord.gg/Xp869eSNWP
- When it launches and you've played: leave an honest review (good or critical) — that one comes from you, and it's the one that counts.
Thanks for reading this far. Compete hard, but keep the world standing. 🌿
