- Enemies are also a bit smarter whilst attacking walls with gates.
- Updated Husk Shielder behaviour and Husk Arbalest HP fixed.
- Survivor skills no longer reset on reload - Infinite tree bug fixed (I hope).
- Fixed the "load game" button in single player while in-game.

Now that Stoneguard is live in Early Access, we wanted to share a look at what’s already in the game and what we’re planning to build next. This roadmap highlights the current Early Access content, our ongoing update goals, and the major features we’re aiming to deliver as development continues.
The Early Access version of Stoneguard already includes all gameplay up to Boss 2, Steam achievements, and multiplayer. That gives players the chance to jump in now, experience the core survival and defense loop, and help shape the game as we continue development.
Between major content drops, we’ll be focusing on implementing player feedback, fixing bugs, improving animations, and adding quality-of-life updates. These updates are meant to make the game smoother, clearer, and more enjoyable while we continue expanding the experience.
For version 1.0, our goal is to bring Stoneguard all the way to the final boss and add new enemies, new craftable monster items, a new siege engine, story ending content, and additional achievements. We’re also planning new maps and traps, though some of those features may change based on player feedback.
Our roadmap also includes two major updates, one targeted for Fall/Winter 2026 and another for Spring 2027. These updates are planned to add new bosses, new enemies, more monster craftable items, endless mode, traps, controller support, and food system improvements including more ways to gather food, fishing, simple cooking, and new hunger mechanics.
This roadmap is a guide, not a guarantee. As Stoneguard grows, we’ll keep listening closely to player feedback and adjusting priorities where needed so the game becomes the best version of itself.
Thank you for playing, testing, and sharing your feedback with us. Every run, every bug report, and every suggestion helps shape the future of Stoneguard.
Thank you,
William and Honor

We're excited to announce that Stoneguard will be available for early access on Steam!
Prepare for a desperate struggle for survival when Stoneguard, a medieval survival strategy game, developed by ThornSpire Games and published by Wandering Wizard, launches into Steam Early Access on July 30th.
Stoneguard sets itself apart by seamlessly blending the expansive, open-ended nature of a survival game with the intense, tactical demands of base defense. Set in a desolate medieval world twisted by science fiction elements, the core objective is to protect the magical Lifestone the last beacon of hope, from an unrelenting and monstrous alien invasion.
The rhythm of the game is defined by a crucial Day-Night Cycle. By Day, players are tasked with the strategic construction and management of their settlement. This includes setting up intricate production chains, harvesting essential resources, and strategically fortifying the surrounding defenses in preparation for the night's assault. By Night, the focus shifts entirely to defense. Waves of increasingly aggressive, monstrous aliens descend upon the settlement, forcing players into brutal, close-quarters combat to protect the Lifestone at all costs.
Combat in Stoneguard is visceral and tactical, experienced through a close third-person perspective. The system rewards precision and careful execution, featuring realistic, bone-jarring strikes capable of severing limbs from the alien invaders. Mastery of the combat mechanics is essential for survival against the harrowing hordes.
Success in Stoneguard demands constant adaptation. The enemies and their bosses grow increasingly difficult with each passing cycle, requiring players to continually refine and overhaul their base layouts, resource management techniques, and defensive tactics to withstand the growing onslaught.
As Stoneguard enters Early Access tomorrow, August 30th, ThornSpire Games is inviting players to help shape what the Lifestone's last stand becomes. Every wave survived, base layout tested, and limb lost in combat gives the team clearer insight into how to push the game's systems, enemies, and difficulty even further. Your feedback, screenshots, and stories from the front lines will play a direct role in forging Stoneguard into a richer, harsher, and more unforgettable medieval survival strategy experience.

We’re excited to share how Stoneguard plays when you’re not facing the night alone. This post breaks down how up to four players share one settlement, one Lifestone, and one desperate fight for survival in co-op.
Stoneguard is built to be survived together. Up to four players share a single settlement, a single Lifestone, and a single desperate fight against the night. Every wall, tower, and workshop is a joint effort, and every mistake is felt by the whole group.
Co-op in Stoneguard isn’t about separate bases or parallel progress; it’s about dividing responsibilities inside one fortress. One player might focus on resource chains and production, another on wall placement and tower coverage, another on managing survivors and prosthetics, and another on leading the frontline at night.
When the battle horn sounds, all four players are locked into the same outcome. If the Lifestone falls, the run ends. That shared risk turns every breach into a group problem: who reinforces the wall, who pulls defenders back, and who sacrifices an outer section to save the lifestone.
Every failed run becomes a story the group tells the next day: the wall that collapsed too early, the desperate fallback that somehow held. Co-op makes those moments sharper, because every decision is argued, planned, and executed together. Across campaigns, your group will develop its own defensive style and its own war stories.
Gather your friends and claim a patch of ruined earth in Stoneguard. Coordinate your builds, divide your roles, and see how long your group can keep the Lifestone burning against ever-stronger waves. In co-op, every victory is shared, and every collapse is a lesson you’ll carry into the next run.

In Stoneguard, survival isn’t just about holding one wall, it's about deciding how far your settlement can safely grow before the night becomes too dangerous. Every new workshop, storage area, or defensive outpost changes how your camp functions, while opening up more opportunities for the enemy as you stretch your defenses thin. The more you expand, the more every structure starts to matter.
As your village grows, so does the challenge of keeping it secure. A bigger settlement means longer supply lines, more vulnerable edges, and more opportunities for enemies to exploit any unguarded gaps. That makes expansion feel like a risk-reward decision rather than a simple upgrade, every new section of your camp has to earn its place by helping you survive the next wave.
Stoneguard makes every stretch of land feel like a promise and a threat at the same time. The farther you expand, the more you can produce, store, and prepare but it also leaves more to defend when the horn sounds. It’s a constant balance between ambition and caution, and that tension is what gives each settlement its own shape, rhythm, and story.

In Stoneguard, you’re not a distant camera looking down on a tiny village, you are the Ruler of Earth, living and fighting alongside the last remnants of your people. You’ve fled the fallen capital with the Lifestone in hand, and every decision you make from that moment on determines whether humanity’s spark survives another night.
By day, you walk the same paths your villagers do. You watch workers hauling stone to the walls you ordered built, hear the clang of iron as weapons are forged, and pass by the tents where injured defenders recover. Placing buildings, planning defenses, and assigning jobs all feel different when you know you’ll be the one sprinting across that same ground once the battle horn sounds.
Stoneguard is a third-person action-strategy game that puts players on the front lines as a commander who must personally engage in combat to defend their settlement against alien invasion. Success depends on the player's quick decisions, positioning, and gear choices while leading defenses, covering retreats, or launching counter-charges.

In Stoneguard, every day is preparation and every night is a test. The sunlit hours feel almost calm on the surface, villagers working, production chains humming, walls slowly rising but every decision you make is really about one thing: will this be enough when darkness falls?
By day, you juggle more needs than you can satisfy. Do you push your villagers to expand the outer walls, or shore up the weak spots you already know about? Do you invest in new weapons, more towers, or finally extend that resource line you’ve been putting off? Food, materials, defenses, and more compete for the same limited time, and the truth is simple: you can’t do everything before sundown.
The moment the sun dips below the horizon, the atmosphere shifts abruptly. Daily routines halt, the horn blares, and attention narrows to the Lifestone. This transition instantly reveals the consequences of any daytime shortcuts: the incomplete wall, the unstaffed tower, or the gate whose upgrade was deferred "until tomorrow." Every night serves as a clear judgment on your earlier planning, transforming minor neglect into a frantic defense along your fortifications.
Surviving in Stoneguard is about learning this rhythm. A “good” day doesn’t just mean productivity, it means setting yourself up for a night where you’re reacting with strategy, not panic. As you keep playing, you’ll start to feel that point in the afternoon where you stop dreaming big and start locking in the essentials, because you know what’s coming when the sky goes dark. In the end, Stoneguard isn’t just about building a strong settlement, it's about mastering the cycle of one more day earned, one more night endured.

In Stoneguard, your arsenal is the foundation of your defense, not just a collection of gear. The weapons you equip are critical to your strategy, determining how effectively you can hold back the darkness. Whether you rely on simple spears and sturdy shields, formidable heavy blades, or accurate ranged weaponry, the choices you make are the difference between your villagers repelling the horde at the walls or being quickly overwhelmed.
By day, you’ll gather materials and invest precious resources into your armory. Every ingot, plank, and rare component you spend on weapons is something you’re not using on walls or towers, so each craft is a deliberate choice. Do you arm a few elite defenders with high quality gear, or spread simpler weapons across the entire village so everyone can stand and swing when the battle horn sounds?
Weapons fundamentally define your combat style, not just your damage output. Lighter, faster arms are ideal for flanking, utilizing wall movement, and exploiting weak points. In contrast, heavier weapons are superior for eliminating the toughest adversaries. Although ranged weaponry can clear out enemy hordes before they reach your defenses, its effectiveness depends entirely on safe, well-planned platforms and positions for your archers.
Whether you lean on quick wooden weapons, brutal stone tools, or dependable iron arms, your loadout will shape how each night in Stoneguard feels. As we continue developing the game in Early Access, we’ll be closely tuning how these materials handle, hit, and hold up under pressure so every swing and shot feels distinct and intentional. No matter which path you choose for your armory, every wooden shaft, stone edge, and iron blade should feel worthy of defending the Lifestone.

The beacon your enemies are drawn to, the reason your people fled the capital and the one object you cannot afford to lose. As long as the Lifestone endures, there’s a chance to rebuild, to heal and push back the alien onslaught, even if your walls are broken and your villagers are battered.
It’s about everything that comes before the first claw hits the stone:
How you shape your settlement,
Who you assign to gather what
What you’re willing to sacrifice if the front line starts to crumble.
Do you pull defenders back early to make sure some survive to fight another night, or do you commit everyone to a last stand at the Lifestone?
As long as it’s safe, there are ways to mend wounds, replace lost limbs with crude prosthetic limbs, and turn yesterday’s disaster into tomorrow’s lesson.
Losing a defender hurts, but losing the Lifestone ends everything. That tension sits at the center of every wave: what are you willing to spend in bodies, resources, and time to buy the Lifestone one more night?
Do you bury it in layers of stone and towers, or keep it closer to the working heart of the village?
We encourage you to share screenshots of your Lifestone layouts, your desperate last stands, and the moments where you saved it with seconds to spare, as your stories help us tune how hard the hordes hit, and how satisfying it feels when your defenses hold.

In Stoneguard, your villagers are more than background workers they’re the heart of your defense, ready to trade tools for weapons the moment the battle horn sounds.
By day, they till fields, chop wood, mine stone, and haul resources back to town, quietly keeping the lifeblood of your settlement flowing. Every wall segment, tower, weapon, and prosthetic limb exists because someone planted crops, smelted ore, or worked the forge instead of standing on the front line. You’ll learn their routines, assign their jobs, and build your entire strategy on the backs of these ordinary people just trying to survive another day beneath an alien sky.
But when dusk settles and the battle horn echoes across the settlement, those same villagers drop their tools, grab their gear, and sprint for the walls. The farmer you relied on for food becomes a shieldbearer at the gate. The blacksmith who spent the day crafting iron weapons now swings one from the battlements. Your choices in the daylight directly affect who’s ready to stand and fight once the night’s onslaught begins.
It’s up to you to decide who stays in the fields a little longer and who must be pulled off vital production to answer the horn. A short-handed wall might fall, but an empty granary means starvation down the line. In Stoneguard, every villager wears two faces, worker and warrior. True leadership is knowing when to let them live a quiet day, and when to call them to the ramparts and ask them to risk everything for the Lifestone.

By day, you design the backbone of your survival: walls, towers, and gates that all circle back to protecting the Lifestone. You decide where to invest your scarce wood, stone, iron, leather, essence, and food whether that’s thicker outer walls, more ranged platforms, or backup lines in case the first layer falls. Every new building and upgrade is placed with one question in mind: Will this actually hold when the waves arrive?
When night falls, those decisions are put to the test. The soulless husk and bosses all attack in different ways, smashing walls, shielding other foes, or buffing the horde so a good defense isn’t just more HP, it’s smart positioning. Towers covering each other, layered gates that buy time, and fallback positions around the Lifestone can be the difference between a controlled retreat and a total collapse.
Defense in Stoneguard is also about who you put on the line. Villagers in your camp will carry the gear you crafted, man the walls you placed, and suffer the consequences when things go wrong. Limbs can be lost, prosthetics may be needed, and a defender who once held the front might end up better suited to repairing, crafting, or supporting from behind the lines.
Stoneguard's defense emphasizes strategic choices during the night, whether you "turtle up" or "sprawl out" with walls. We look forward to seeing your fort layouts, loadouts, and teamwork. Share your defenses, close calls, and lessons learned from the night your stories will help us make the nightly assaults sharper and more satisfying to survive.

Stoneguard's aliens are more than just monsters; they are the pressure shaping Lifestone decisions. They attack in nighttime waves, growing in complexity as the campaign advances toward boss encounters. They begin by testing basic defenses and as the waves progress you will encounter tough melee combatants, long range archers and powerful leaders who can breach defenses.
The enemies you’ll face in Stoneguard are the Soulless Husk. They are at the frontline for the invasion. They’re not clever, but they are persistent, and every one of them exists to cut you down and claim the LifeStone.
The sword armed Husk is the most basic threat you’ll see, and usually the first to reach your walls. They come in numbers trying to overwhelm defenders with quick, simple slashes. Alone they’re easy to cut down but if you ignore them, they’ll chew through exposed survivors and unprotected structures before you realize what’s happening.
Spear Husks are close cousins to the sword Husks, trading sweeping slashes for rapid, relentless thrusts. Their arm-borne spears drive straight into any gap in your line, and while a single Spear Husk is easy to sidestep, ignoring a group of them lets those quick stabs tear through exposed survivors and unprotected structures before you can react.
Mace Husks are slower, heavier bruisers built to ruin fortifications. When they reach your defenses, they slam into walls, gates, and barricades with crushing swings that quickly open breaches if you leave them unchecked. They excel at following in the wake of the lighter Husks. Once your defenders are distracted, these blunt monsters start turning your carefully placed structures into rubble.
The Soulless Husk Arbalest is a siege engine that tears down distant defenders. Its crude skull, guided by eye-stalks and a bloody tendon bowstring, silently aims via its loose tongue and missing jaw. A reinforced neck absorbs firing strain, and spread legs anchor it like artillery. It draws bone quarrels growing from its back, firing them at walls, towers, and exposed targets using the reshaped skull and tendon.
Fan Head is Stoneguard's first true boss and a major danger spike. This towering Soulless combines brutal melee with multi-point defensive pressure. Its fan-like head is a strength focal point, while its limbs are critical weak spots, exploitable only if defenders survive long enough. When Fan Head appears, your settlement must cooperate to save the Lifestone.
With that, we have more posts coming to reveal more of our game! Expect a content roadmap in the future as well.
We hope you will wishlist our game! Till next time!

Welcome to another post where we break down key aspects of our game, from combat, to what's at stake for the players, to how we were able to blend genres. Here is some of the key aspects behind Stoneguard.
Combat is ruthless and tactical. You can target and sever specific enemy body parts arms, legs and head. These remains are crucial resources that can be researched to craft new weapons and tools, effectively turning the enemies' own strength against them. The stakes are equally high for your survivors, who can lose limbs in battle and require prosthetics to remain useful.
Limb-targeting and injury: Precision hit detection means attacks can remove or damage specific limbs, affecting both enemy threat and survivor effectiveness, which gives battles a gritty, physical identity.
Fight while you lead: You command survivors as you fight alongside them giving you a blend of action and strategy. Have them hold the line or charge into battle! The choice is yours.
The entire settlement's design revolves around the defense of the magical Lifestone. Every wall, tower, and villager assignment is strategically placed to protect this single point. The game features escalating tension and a variety of enemy types appearing between major encounters, culminating in powerful boss assaults against your defenses.
A dynamic day–night cycle ties building and preparation to escalating night-time waves, making each day feel like a countdown to the next siege.
Survival hinges on a strategic approach where your base design and job assignments are paramount. During lulls, Survivors are directed to focus on gathering, crafting, and research; when waves approach, their priority shifts to defense.
Presenting base-building and defense from a close third-person view gives a more grounded, cinematic feel than traditional top-down colony builders.
Each campaign plays like a full story of building up, holding out, and either falling or prevailing, encouraging replay through different layouts and defensive philosophies rather than long meta-grinds.
We hope to bring you more in the coming times as you join our journey by wishlisting!

Honor : Stoneguard is a game that we dreamt of playing but didn’t quite exist when we started on it. William wanted to have an RTS game where he could play from a 3rd person perspective, and so we started to brainstorm what that would look like. Along the way our goal slightly shifted from the RTS genre as we put in different gameplay elements that we enjoyed from other games and that would fit better with Stoneguard.
We finally came up with a grim, fantasy sci-fi invasion apocalypse, with the core gameplay being centered around defending the magical Lifestone. This led us to having a mix of genres in a single game: survival, strategy, settlement building, survivor and resource management, crafting, with fun varied combat with lots of blood and gore.
Stoneguard centers on defending a magical Lifestone and is the game we wanted to play, made under the demanding schedule of our four cats!
The game is still in development, with Early access right around the corner.
One of the main reasons for launching in Early Access is so that your ideas and inputs on Stoneguard shape it into a better game. For this very reason, we look forward to staying in close touch with our community for feedback, suggestions and more!
We will be having consistent updates both small and large during Early Access until full release. Look forward to seeing bug fixes, quality of life updates along with content expansions!
Thank you all for following our journey thus far, more content will soon be released in the forms of: devlogs, feature spotlights, festival participations as well as an Early Access ROADMAP.
We hope to welcome you to our grim, yet fantastical world soon. Join us and wishlist our game today!
Thank you,
