Howdy everyone!
Wanted to put together this post while we wait on official Steam Deck verification. But since the Deck is the main way I play games nowadays, making sure Spellsy felt as good as possible on it has always been a high priority for me. I'd say Spellsy was even built with the Deck in mind, with every update getting tested on my device before release.
Some Deck-specific features I've added:
Zoom defaults to "closest" on launch so fonts are legible (only for Steam Deck)
D-pad, thumbstick, trackpad, and touchscreen all work
Key bindings are remappable if you'd prefer to make tweaks
Native Linux build
If you have any suggestions for how to make Spellsy an even better experience on the Deck let me know! Would love to make it happen :)
Levels
Just Deserts has been reworked and expanded to 9 levels (up from 6).
Kadune has been reworked and expanded to 12 levels (up from 9).
Shifting Sands has been moved to the full game to keep the demo a tighter length.
Improvements
Added a preview of the total levels that will be available in the full game to the demo.
Hints used at the very start of a level will now reveal the full 3-star solution.
Changed the hint color from yellow to a more saturated blue for better contrast with the game board.
Minor performance improvements.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where rapid controller inputs would sometimes spawn the main menu when selecting a level.
Howdy everyone! Excited to announce that Spellsy will be part of the 2026 Cerebral Puzzle Showcase! It's a week-long lineup of great puzzle games put together by Draknek & Friends, and as a Thinky Games lover I am genuinely so excited that Spellsy made the cut.
To mark the occasion, I'll be pushing a demo update and revealing Spellsy's launch date sometime during the festival :)
See you on the 28th 💛

The Spellsy demo is now available to play! Thank you to everyone who’s followed along so far, I'm excited (and a little nervous) to finally share it. You can check out the demo page here:
Play time: ~45 - 60 minutes
Content: The demo has a smidge over 40 puzzles with a range of difficulty.
Unlimited hinting: Get gentle nudges or full solutions so you never stay stuck.
No Pressure: No timers or high scores, so you can focus, relax, and puzzle at your own pace.
Key Board + Controller Support: Even better if you want to give it a spin on your Steam Deck
I hope you enjoy the demo, and if you haven't already join the discord, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
