We are thrilled to announce a massive technical overhaul for Spectator 2. This update represents months of work dedicated to optimizing the co-op experience and modernizing the game engine to provide the smoothest investigative horror experience possible.

Save System

Steam Cloud Integration: Cloud saves are now fully active. Your progress and unlocks are now safely backed up and synced across all your PCs automatically.

Engine

Unity 6.3 LTS Migration: The game has been moved to the latest Unity 6.3 Long Term Support engine, providing a significant boost to overall stability and modern hardware compatibility.

Co-op Performance

Optimized Multi-user Rendering: We implemented a new rendering path specifically for co-op sessions, resulting in up to 30% higher FPS when playing with others.

Networking

Co-op System Refactor: The networking code has been rebuilt for faster synchronization and a more reliable connection, drastically reducing lag and disconnects.

Rendering

Forward+ Transition: By switching to the Forward+ renderer, the game now handles complex light sources and shadows much more efficiently, especially in dark environments.

Graphics

Shader Graph Overhaul: All shaders have been rewritten from scratch. This optimization lowers GPU temperatures and ensures cleaner, more consistent visual effects.

Quality of Life

Improved Loading Times: Internal data restructuring accompanying the engine update has significantly decreased the time it takes to load into levels.

The world is feeling... different. This massive "Refresh" update sweeps away numerous issues and implements critical network stability improvements to ensure your experience in the shadows is smoother and all the more terrifying.

This "Refresh" is all about future-proofing the game and delivering the performance you deserve.

Anomalies & System Integrity

We've delved deep into the corrupted source code to address the erratic behavior and unpredictable manifestations you've been reporting. The terror should now be more consistent, deliberate, and unnerving.

• Anomaly Correction: Addressed numerous bugs causing incorrect and unintended anomaly triggers.

• Effect Consistency: Fixed issues where incorrect anomaly effects or assets were being called, resolving visual and audio glitches that broke the immersion.

Multiplayer Enhancements

Surviving with a team should be a seamless, terrifying experience. We've significantly improved networking and connectivity.

• Improved Netcode: Experience smoother, more stable multiplayer sessions and reduced latency across all platforms. (Cross play available)

• Quick Connect via Steam: Jump into public matches instantly through the new Steam Quick Connect feature.

• Steam Invitations: Easily invite your friends to join your team and your inevitable doom with integrated Steam invitations. Faster queues, quicker screams.

Core System Improvements

We have performed deep maintenance on the core architecture of the simulation to enhance stability and security.

• Engine Upgrade: The simulation is now running on the latest version of the Unity Engine. This foundation provides better performance, stability, and prepares the system for future major overhauls.

• Security Protocol: Critical security vulnerabilities have been identified and patched. The integrity of the monitoring system has been restored, protecting against external interference.
