Hey everyone! It’s time for the next update 🥳✨
Over the past few weeks, we've been working hard on some features you've all wanted for a long time. Feature-wise, it's probably our biggest update yet!
Placing items is now more satisfying than ever, you can upload your own images for picture frames, and we added an undo/redo system for furniture and modules (materials will follow!).
We improved a lot of existing issues with Unpacking Mode and put a lot of effort into improving performance. There's a lot that's new, and I can't wait to hear your feedback! Especially when it comes to performance, it would be super helpful to hear whether your experience has improved or not :)
✨ Animations for moving and placing items 📦 Reworked Unpacking Mode ⚡ Performance Optimization ◀️ Undo/Redo System 🖼️ Custom Image Uploads 💾 More Stable Save Games ☁️ Steam Cloud Saving 💄 50+ new items, including makeup tables and cosmetics
I know a lot of you are waiting for new content, and I'm excited to tell you that new levels are coming soon! In this update, we really focused on improving the overall polish of the game, while the next one will be all about content ✨
As always, let us know if you run into any issues. Thank you so much for your continued support and contributions. Small Spaces is a community game, and you make it what it is 💖
All the best from the Small Spaces team ☀️
Hey everyone!
It’s been a little while since the last update, but there’s a lot coming over the next few weeks, starting today with a big one: the Color Update 🎨🎉
You can now choose from any color you like and change the color of almost every object in the game, as long as it isn’t made of wood. This has been one of the most requested features for a long time, and I’m really excited to finally share it with you. Even just playing around with it myself, it already feels like it adds so much to the game.
The screenshots were taken in the lovely house designed by Kim Ran (you can open it too via designs from the Community).
This update also includes autosaving and a number of bug fixes.
I hope you enjoy the update, and as always, I’d love to hear what you think. Feel free to share your feedback 🧡
Happy designing, and I can’t wait to show you what’s coming next.

Happy playing :)
I hope you all had an amazing start into the new year🥳🎆
Here's an update covering fixes for multiple reported crash issues and general performance improvements on some GPUs.

As always, let me know what you think! If you run into any bugs or issues, it would help a ton if you let me know. Here or on Discord🫶
🎄✨ Merry Christmas to those who celebrate, and wishing a cozy winter season to everyone!

Sorry, the latest build had a bug where no more boxes would appear in the unpacking mode. Should be fixed now :) Also fixed a bug where when placing furniture too fast out of a box, the game would kind get stuck.
The unpacking levels now start right into the unpacking experience without seeing the end-result first. Let me know you like this change. I feel like for the levels it makes sense to be challenged to come up with your own ideas!
Fixed bug where mouse cursor would disappear when an unpacking box is disappearing while you're moving it around
fixed bug where living room and office decorations were missing from the unpacking boxes
fixed bug where sometimes objects would rotate with the unpacking box
make unpacking boxes scale down before they are relocated when overlapping with a placed furniture piece
Hi everyone!
I’m really excited to bring you the next big update for Small Spaces, together with the first bigger discount for the game. It has been a busy few weeks of work, tests, and fixes, and now I can finally share it all with you!
The new Unpacking Mode is now live in Small Spaces! I have been preparing this update for quite a long time. A lot of it was shaped with your help during two playtests. Thank you to everyone who joined, sent feedback, and managed to break things so I could fix them.
In this update, you now have two ways to play: you can still create your own layouts from scratch, or you can unpack rooms designed by the community. More than that, you now can unpack every single design uploaded to the community! This means the amount of gameplay is kinda endless. There are so many gorgeous designs that are so unique in style and layout and I hope you enjoy unpacking them as much as I did!
Unpacking Mode is meant to be an easier way to play and design if you're feeling a bit lazy to scroll through the item catalogue and just want to place items and make it cozy. Additionally I hope this mode can inspire you to your next builds in the design mode!
Small Spaces is also getting its lowest price so far! The Daily Deal starts on November 17 and runs until December 1.
Small Spaces is also taking part in Cozy Quest 2025! Huge thank you to Secret Mode for the chance to be part of such a nice event! This also marks a special moment, because one year ago I launched the first demo of Small Spaces for Cozy Quest 2024! I'm excited to see how far the game has come since then and it's great to see it on Cozy Quest again!
If you found the game through Cozy Quest: Welcome! And I hope my game can make for a quiet, warm, cozy evening or two 😊
You might also notice that the key art for Small Spaces has changed.
For every illustration in the game I collaborate with concept artists over weeks to capture the vibe of the game. The key art is probably the most difficult one to make and decide on, but I think that finally it looks as cozy as the game does. Very excited to hear what you think!
Thank you again for playing, testing, and sending me your love, thoughts, ideas and bug-reports for the game. You're really making this game what it is🧡
— Niklas
Edit:
I made a mistake in this build and pushed a new update. Make sure you're on the latest one!
In case your save game got messed up:
Open this path: C:\\Users\\YourUserName\\AppData\\Local\\SmallSpaces\\Saved\\SaveGames
Then delete the SaveGameRelease.sav file and rename the Temp file to SaveGameRelease.sav then start the game. Hope this works, otherwise comment here or on Discord :)
Original Post (lol):
Some players encountered a game breaking bug when trying to start a level. Sorry! Is fixed now :)
The tiny house levels were missing the balcony category. Fixed that :)
DLSS, FSR and XeSS are now implemented, improving general performance and quality of the upscaling. Excited to hear your feedback!
Lamps were not looking great since the last update. This is now fixed. In Ray Tracing, lamps still are not perfect and we're trying to find a better solution.
Fixed some smaller issues
Hope this update makes the game just a bit better. Super excited to ship the next bigger updates soon!
Added step of shader compilation to avoid game crashes on startup
Ability to reset settings (do this if your game is lagging badly out of nowhere)
Fix Ray Tracing button in the settings being disabled
Added instructions for using backup files in case save game can’t be found
Some other bugfixes
Hi everyone!
It's update time! 🥳🎉 We worked on a lot since the last update, but some of it will only follow in the next weeks (more on this later!) For now, here is what's new:
We hear you want more clutter! There's now a new Kitchen Decor pack, as well as new base items for the living room and the bathroom! We're not quite done yet, but I hope the new items make your designs more personal already!
We brought pumpkins back to decorate in theme for the fall season. Most of them are more cozy than spooky though 😄
We hope to bring quite a boost in performance to all of you through a series of optimizations we did. Additionally, we're launching Hardware Ray Tracing for Small Spaces, recommended primarily for high-end graphics cards for even better lighting and reflections.
A new way to play Small Spaces: Unpacking Mode! 📦
Initially I wanted it to be part of this update already and we've been working really hard to make it happen, but ultimately I feel like it's just not fully there yet. In the unpacking mode you can design spaces by unpacking boxes instead of clicking through the designer catalogue. I think it's gonna be super fun when it's finished and can't wait to ship it soon!
I also want to leave just a few words about the much requested Creative Mode. The truth is making games is a crazy amount of work, so over the summer I decided to get a developer on board to support me with features like the optimizations and the creative mode. We're now a bit delayed, but stronger than ever and plan to bring an amazing creative mode to you within the next two months! We hope the update already brings you a lot of joy and I can't wait to bring you the next ones!
As always, thank you for playing! Also, tell me if anything breaks 💛
— Niklas
Hey everyone!
I'm super excited to bring the next big update for Small Spaces to you with the first ever online features, atmospheric rain, new balcony items, plants and flowers 🌺
Small Spaces is a community game. Yet, so far the community was mostly happening on our Discord. With the new update you can upload your designs for everyone else to find and visit. I'm super excited to look at all your designs there and hope it can be a source of inspiration for your own!
As this is the first online feature, I'd love to hear your feedback, thoughts and ideas on this step :)
🌧️ Let it rain! Now occasionally it may start to rain for some extra cozy atmosphere. Can be turned off in the settings though if you prefer it sunny!
☀ 30+ new balcony items with it's own new category!
🪴 A new plant expansion with more variety and finally some hanging plants!
🌸 Flower expansion with 20+ flowers and even some loose flowers that you can out into vases yourself!
One thing I hear from players all the time is that they want more clutter. Well, I hear you! The new balcony items are just the beginning and we plan to add 150 more within the next two months!
Additionally we're gonna continue to work hard on the creative mode in which you can design your own apartment layouts. Planned to come this fall!
Thank you all for playing. I really hope you're gonna enjoy the update and I'm super excited for your feedback♥️
