This is a quick day 1 patch to the game that mostly addresses bug fixes and minor balancing changes.
Changelogs:
When creating a lobby, you can now select a max player count of 6 players.
PLEASE NOTE⚠️: The game is designed and has always been marketed around a maximum of 3 players.
If you select a max player lobby above that, you must understand that you are playing outside of the way the game is designed. The game will likely become too chaotic, and is not recommended for your first playthrough.
But you can ignore my warnings and do it anyway. You bought it. It's your game.
Fix for players unable to create joinable lobbies in Russia.
Lowered Marionette HP.
Made Jack in the box louder.
Removed the profanity filter.
Various other minor bug fixes.
Next minor patch update will aim to address the issue of people who crash, and are then unable to interact with the cursor or any buttons in the game.
New content will come soon, right after a few more bug fix updates :D

Hey Everyone!
In celebration for the release date reveal (May 28th), I've made a Youtube video going over the quirky development process that's led up to now, scaring streamers and youtubers along the way.

Hey everyone!
One of the most common requests I’ve received since the demo launched is for a better way to find other players and to directly reach out with feedback, questions, or bug reports.
To help with this, I’ve gotten help to set up and moderate an official Discord server for Shift at Midnight!
🎮 What you’ll find inside:
Matchmaking channels – easily find other players to team up with
Feedback & bug reporting – a direct line to me (the dev)
Announcements – stay up to date on builds, patches, and news
Community hub – share theories, gameplay clips, and meet others who love the game
Moderators will be keeping things friendly and organized so the server stays a welcoming place for everyone.

I’ll personally be super active in the discord so you can ask / yell at me if need be.
See you in the store (and now on Discord), — Bun Muen
I want to reassure you guys that this will not affect the vision or direction of Shift at Midnight. I'm still making the game I've set out to make. Kwalee will just be assisting me with things like marketing, project management, QA testing, etc. so I can focus my attention on development! Shift At Midnight is an online co-op horror game. You and up to 2 friends work the graveyard shift at a rural 90s gas station, though some of your customers aren't human.
Figure out if your customers are doppelgangers. Examine their ID, cross-check their details in the computer, and observe their behavior. One slip-up might expose a creature… or cost you your life. If a creature manages to leave the store, all hell breaks loose. Barricade the doors, place traps, and find a place to hide. Survival is no longer guaranteed.
We will be making socials soon so keep your eyes peeled here!
Hey Everyone,
You might recall that in July, I put out a post stating that the multiplayer demo was likely to release on Steam around late August / early September. Well now it's early September and unfortunately, because of legal complications, I've got to push the date back.
The demo will release September 29th.
In truth, the demo is fully ready.
It's got multiplayer, proximity chat, new events and new customers. It's even been playtested and polished. But because the game blew up so fast at such an unexpected rate, there were unexpected legal processes that popped up and need to be completed before the demo can release.
This is extremely frustrating for me, so I can only imagine how frustrating it is for you, especially considering I stated a timeframe that I didn't end up delivering on. Though I hope you can understand that I want to release this the right way - and don't worry, I won't stay idle during the three week wait. I'll spend this time on further polishing and further playtests to make sure that when you do get your hands on it, it'll be great.
FAQ:
What will this Steam demo contain?
The main addition will be online co-op for up to 3 players. Night 1 will be identical to the singleplayer demo. Night 2 is overhauled, and there will be an additional Night 3 with new content. However, like the singleplayer demo, this demo won't have randomly generated nights. But the full release will.
What will change between this demo and the full release?
The full release will be composed of randomly generated "runs" to play through with your friends. This will include a shitton of customers, random silly/scary/funny events, items, monsters, traps and more.
When will the game fully release?
Q2 2026
What languages will the game be in?
Right now, I'm looking toward English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified). There may be more in future, but for the time being, this is what I'm going for.

Hey Everyone,
Let me start with the important bit: The multiplayer demo will be ready around late August / early September
Let me explain: during and after the Steam Summer Sale, Valve paused wishlist counts. I happened to publish my steam page just as the sale began, so I wasn’t able to track the progress in real-time. Just today, the numbers have finally updated, and I’ve seen that we've blown passed the 20,000 wishlist milestone. I can't thank you enough - that is genuinely wild.
Now to be completely honest, I set that milestone thinking of it as an unrealistic goal I would never hit. Something to bide time in order to give me time to work on the multiplayer. I genuinely never expected to ever hit 20k, and I definitely didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. Unfortunately as a result, the multiplayer demo isn’t ready just yet. I want to make sure this demo is the best it can be, so I’m taking the time to playtest, tweak, and refine everything. No rushing - just making sure it’s genuinely fun when it drops.
I'm hard at work on it and you can expect it to be released within the next 2 months. I really appreciate everyone’s patience, and I’m endlessly grateful for the support and kind messages I've received so far.
FAQ:
Is that a confident demo release window?
Not certain. Could come earlier, could come later.
When will the game fully release?
Q1/Q2 2026
Thank you again for helping push the game this far - expect more updates closer to the release of the
demo.
