Not long ago, our steampunk adventure set among floating islands in an endless ocean, Sea Walker Saga, entered Early Access. Over the past few months, our team has been hard at work collecting player feedback, releasing updates, and continuing to improve the game.
Sea Walker Saga is an adventure RPG that combines survival, exploration, and base-building. Travel across a vast ocean aboard your own floating island, discover mysterious locations, engage in naval and aerial combat, expand your settlement, and uncover the secrets of a legendary lost continent.
Today we’d like to share what we’ve already added to the game and what we’re currently working on.
A New Way to Explore: The Jet Ski
One of the biggest additions in recent months is a brand-new vehicle: the Jet Ski.
Until now, we hadn’t talked about this feature because we wanted to polish it before revealing it. The Jet Ski is now fully integrated into Sea Walker Saga’s world and has become a natural part of the gameplay experience.
Players will be able to use it to explore the ocean, travel quickly between islands, and take part in upcoming activities where speed and mobility will play a key role.
Developing the Jet Ski involved much more than simply adding a new vehicle. We built an entire set of supporting systems, including boarding and disembarking, docking with your floating island, realistic interaction with the ocean, and a custom buoyancy system.
We also introduced an adaptive sound system. The engine audio now changes dynamically depending on your speed and maneuvers, while wave and environmental sounds become more pronounced during high-speed travel, making every ride feel more immersive.
Expanding the Resource System
As we continue developing the game’s economy, we’ve introduced several new resource types that are now used for construction and building upgrades.
These resources are already integrated into buildings of Level 3 and above.
At the same time, we completely reworked the underlying resource system. One resource that previously existed only as an abstract number has been transformed into Scrap Metal, complete with its own visual icon and proper integration into the game’s economy.
Whenever possible, we aim to communicate information visually instead of relying on text alone. Clear icons are easier to recognize during gameplay and help create a cleaner, more intuitive interface.
New Activities Are on the Way
Work is already underway on future updates.
The team is currently building new tracks for the upcoming racing mode while designing the overall competition structure and gameplay flow.
At the same time, we’re developing a new Job Board system. Players will be able to accept procedurally generated contracts, complete various tasks, and earn rewards that help expand and improve their floating settlement.
Localization and User Interface
Preparing Sea Walker Saga for players around the world is another major focus of development.
We’re continuing to improve localization and adapt the interface for multiple languages. This involves much more than translating text. Every UI element must also be carefully adjusted to accommodate different word lengths and sentence structures across languages.
These improvements often go unnoticed, but they play an essential role in making the game feel polished and comfortable for players everywhere.
Performance Improvements
Optimization has remained one of our highest priorities throughout development.
Over the past few months, we’ve completed a significant round of performance improvements that have already resulted in noticeable FPS gains in the current version of the game.
As Sea Walker Saga continues to grow, optimization will remain an ongoing part of development to ensure the best possible experience.
What’s Next?
Our current focus is on the upcoming racing mode, expanding the mission system, further improving transportation mechanics, and continuing to grow the game’s world.
We’ll continue sharing monthly development updates, showcasing new mechanics, locations, and features coming to Sea Walker Saga.
Thank you for joining us on this journey across the endless ocean. If you haven’t already, jump into Early Access, share your feedback, and help us shape the future of Sea Walker Saga. Every review and suggestion makes a real difference!
