Hi Scribblers!
Sorry for the long delay, and the small amount of content. I have had a lot of life stuff happening, new job, moving houses etc. Anyway Steam Workshop is finally here! At the moment the support is only for bots, you can upload any bot you have saved to the steam workshop with the click of a button! You can also download and try out any of the bots that have already been uploaded to the workshop! Im keen to see all the cool stuff you guys draw!
As well as this I have added a new hide and seek map: Scribble Planet!
And also 5 new hats!
Updates might be a bit slower from here as I'll be working a lot more, but I will keep on progressing the mod support, eventually adding a level editor so you guys can work on your own levels too.
Thanks for playing everyone,
Mr Mango
Hey Scribblers,
Mac support is finally here!
I also fixed a couple of bugs:
keybinds were resetting after you rebind them
the r key would kill you if you typed it in chat
4 player local multiplayer would not work if you returned to the main menu
Thanks for playing everyone!

Hi Scribblers!
Unfortunately this update is not as content heavy as the last one but there are still some important changes that needed to be addressed
I have now added controller support for local multiplayer, along with a complete revamp of the local multiplayer controller system. Previously, as the keybinds were bound to the drawings themselves, it was easy to mix up controls, and have one player controlling two robots. This has now been fixed, and along with keyboard controls, there is the option for controller, and the ability to rebind all keybinds, and add new keybind sets in the settings.
I have also added 2 new keybinds to play around with:
Ragdoll (space on keyboard, b on xbox, square on playstation)
Die (r on keyboard, y on xbox, triangle on playstation)
you can now use any map in the draw sandbox! just select what map you want to use in the lobby settings, and test out your drawings in the space station, or on the pirate ship! In the future I will be adding alternative sandbox maps to play on
I have revamped two of the king of the hill maps, to make them a bit more fun.
I made the tree in the mushroom forest a whole lot angrier
I fixed the conveyer belts in the robot factory to make them a bit stronger and move things more realistically. I also made the factory actually produce things, mainly explosive things...
I added 3 new hats
wizard hat
bucket
traffic cone
** The winners of the gnome finding competition will get their hats next patch don't you worry
- Added a timer to the grappling hook, making it auto unhook after 8 seconds
Unfotunately controller support took a but longer than expected so I don't have any new maps and powerups for this patch, but here's a sneak peek at whats coming next
Thanks for playing everyone! If you find any bugs, lmk on the discord, steam discussions, comments, or through the bug report form.
Thanks,
Mr Mango
Hi Scribblers,
I present the first content update of Scribble Bots!
I've been hard at work these past two weeks promoting the game, fixing bugs, but I still wanted to get out some new content for you guys to play with! In this update there are two new maps, and two new powerups! I have also changed up some systems to reduce frustration and bugs.
Brave the high seas on the new pirate ship battle map! Push your foes overboard, climb the mast, dodge sharks, and beware the terror that hides in the depths!
A new hide and seek map! Jump on cookies and cotton candy clouds, launch yourself on candy canes, or take a swim in the chocolate river into the chocolate volcano!
This update comes with two new powerups:
Spring - send yourself flying with this requested powerup
Skates - zoom along the ground with zero friction!
Made random powerups the default powerup mode - I think a lot of people did not know that this existed, and having unlimited of every powerup can be very broken. You are still able to use unlimited powerups, you just need to change it in the lobby settings.
Removed having multiple grenades from the sticky launcher - originally you could set detonate and fire to different keybinds. I removed this as players were glitching out lobbies by spawning 50 grenades. I also added an automatic detonate timer of 10 seconds.
Added an improved colour palette option in the settings
Added an option to disable leg collision - you can find it in the draw menu. A lot of people were complaining about legs getting stuck in each other, so this will let your legs pass right through your other legs, fixing this issue.
Fixed that your character would move when you type in chat
Fixed barrels getting stuck in players on the castle map
Fixed you not being able to delete robots with really long names
Thanks so much for playing everyone, I have a lot more content in store for you guys in the future.

First of all, thank you all for playing Scribble Bots! It's been a great release, and I've really enjoyed seeing all the cool drawings people have made in the community and over discord. I'm so glad to hear that everyone's been having heaps of fun.
Unfortunately there are still a bunch of bugs in the game, I've been working hard to fix the game breaking and annoying ones, but I will be leaving some of the cool fun ones that I deem acceptable. If you find a bug, make sure to report it in the discord or via the google form (found in the games main menu).
I am going to continue adding content to Scribble Bots, so here is a bit of an idea of what I will be adding over the coming weeks/months
In the short term I plan on adding a bunch more content. There are already quite a few maps and powerups but there can definitely be a lot more, so that is what I will be looking to add. I will try updating the game every week or two with a few new pieces of content, such as:
New maps - candyland (hide and seek), pirate ship (battle), more to come
New powerups - spring, skates, with more cool ones planned
New gamemodes - capture the flag, collect the eggs, pve
I also have a couple of highly requested short term feature goals that I will be adding asap, including
controller support
temporary bot saving
adding bots to play with
dedicated singleplayer settings
steam leaderboards and achievements
There are also a whole lot of bugs that I will be fixing as I can as well.
Once I have added a sufficient amount of cool content, I will switch my focus onto longer term goals which include:
Steam workshop
Level editor
Hopefully I will have these longer term goals implemented in a couple of months.
Once again thanks everyone for playing the game, and supporting development!
- Mr Mango
Hey guys!
I added chat, so you should be able to chat with the random people that join your lobby now! Just press enter to open the chat box.
I also fixed a bunch of bugs including
frequent crashing in multiplayer when switching levels
players not being properly kicked from the lobby after leaving
player scores not being shown properly when one player leaves
the flamethrower sometimes pulling enemies towards you instead of blasting them away
Let me know if you guys encounter more bugs,
Thanks for playing!

New Demo update is live, and this is a big one!
Heres a (mostly) complete list of all the changes:
Movement:
so although the old movement system was fun, it was way too complicated, and too unreliable for most people to use. Robots would be super unstable, fall over all the time, and you would have to be very specific with you drawings to get something that works, or you would be forced to use powerups to move. So, I've completely overhauled the movement system!
Procedural walking:
I have switched the controls to WASD, where A and D will make you robot walk left or right! the legs on the left and right hand side will move in a nice walking animation too. You can walk no matter what your robot looks like, if it has a bunch of legs, even if its completely unstable (also if you have no legs at all you can roll around)
Jumping:
You can also jump by pressing up! This helps regular robots compete with robots with thrusters, wheels, grappling hooks etc.
Self stabilisation:
Robots will now automatically stabilise themselves to the position you drew them in while they are touching the ground. This opens the doors for a lot cooler robot designs, making a bunch of stuff viable.
Custom Leg Keybinds:
You can also bind legs to custom keybinds now. Legs that have a custom keybind WON'T be used for walking, but will instead activate when you press that key. Perfect for making an arm to punch your friends robot with.
Automatic Thruster Keybinds:
Thrusters will now automatically bind to a WASD key based on the direction they are facing, so you don't have to worry about rebinding them for each robot
Other changes:
Battle mode:
Battle mode is now available in the demo! I previously had it disabled because it was honestly boring with the previous movement system, but now that you can control your creatures properly, Im keen to see what you guys think of it! also if you have any ideas for cool battle maps lmk!
Sandbox Goodies:
Theres now some more goodies in the draw sandbox, including a ball game (my current high score is 3 so try beat that)
Bug Fixes:
- Bouncy things are more reliable, and will no longer randomly bounce you off the map
- Fixed a bunch of crashes
if you guys encounter any bugs while playing, please message the discord!
It would be really great if yall could try out the game in its new state, I wanna see what everyone thinks, if yall prefer this version or have any feedback!
Cheers!
Hey guys,
Just another couple of minor bug fixes today. There was a big issue where sometimes people would mistakenly draw an invisible body and it would screw over the rest of the drawing, so thats fixed now. I also fixed an issue in multiplayer where players would be completely desynced, however their actions would still go through.
I also changed the thrusters so that they don't always sound like they are on top of you.
Cheers for playing,
Mrmango
Hey guys,
I just added an option to save your robots in game! You can then load in your saved robots at any point.
I also changed the "import" and "export" buttons to copy and paste for more legibility. This was highly requested as the export strings were at times pages long, which would make it extremely difficult to store them. The save files are now stored at %appdata%/Roaming/Godot/app_userdata/ScribbleBots/SavedRobots, in compressed json strings. These files can be shared, and then copy pasted into the game as well if you need.
I also solved a bug that was causing crashes upon returning to the main menu in some circumstances.
