These distinctive characters, featuring rich facial animations and a wide variety of motions, bring event scenes, dialogue sequences, and battle scenes to life. This highly versatile character pack can be used not only in RPGs but also in the development of games across a wide range of genres.

RPG Developer Bakin SGB Heroic Pixel Chr001/ Chr002/ Chr011/ Chr012

The SGB Heroic Pixel Series is a collection of 2D pixel character assets featuring four beloved hero characters from SMILE GAME BUILDER, remade to match the design style and specifications of RPG Developer Bakin's standard 2D pixel characters.

The series includes two male characters (Chr001 and Chr002) and two female characters (Chr011 and Chr012). Hello everyone!

We’re excited to bring you Major Update Ver. 2.5.

In this update, we’ve added new features and made improvements to enhance character expression and the game development environment, including support for Live2D®.!

We’ve added support for Live2D models—which are widely used for VTuber avatars and more—enabling expressive character depictions that make the most of 2D illustrations. This further expands the range of possibilities for in-game cinematics and dialogue scenes.

We’ve also implemented new features that improve game presentation and production efficiency, such as shader management and mouse pointer customization.

Furthermore, we’ve added a new beginner’s tutorial to the online manual, creating a more accessible learning environment for those just starting to create games with Bakin.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the new features!

ｰ RPG Developer Bakin Ver. 2.5 New Features Video:

■Support for Live2D (Free DLC)

Users can now import and use Live2D models created with "Live2D Cubism," the 2D animation creation tool provided by Live2D Inc., directly within Bakin. By bringing characters to life with Live2D, creators can produce more engaging and memorable experiences that leave a lasting impression on players.

Notes:

- This feature is available through the free DLC "RPG Developer Bakin Live2D Toolkit."

- The DLC includes a sample project as well as sample models provided by Live2D Inc., allowing users to start working with Live2D models immediately after installation.

- Compatible with models exported using SDK 5.0 and Cubism 5.0 or earlier. Models exported with Cubism 5.3 or later are not supported.

“RPG Developer Bakin Live2D Toolkit” Showcase Video

■Shader Resource Management

A new "Shader" category has been added to the Resources menu.

This addition makes it easier to import shaders created by other creators, as well as manage and edit shaders used within a project. By simplifying the integration of custom rendering effects and visual enhancements, the feature helps developers expand the visual capabilities and overall presentation quality of their games.

■Mouse Pointer Customization

Users can now assign custom images or sprites to the mouse pointer.

When combined with events, the pointer's appearance can be changed dynamically—for example, when hovering over specific objects or performing drag operations within designated areas. This feature enables a wider range of interactive visual feedback, making it particularly useful for adventure games, point-and-click titles, and other pointer-driven gameplay experiences.

■Beginner Tutorial Button

A new button has been added, providing direct access to the newly introduced Beginner Tutorial section within the online manual.

The tutorial guides users through the fundamentals of Bakin by building an actual game, covering topics such as map creation, event setup, and boss battle implementation. The content is designed to help new users learn the software step by step and gradually become familiar with its features and workflow.

Additional tutorial content will continue to be added and expanded in future updates.

■Revised System Requirements

The system requirements for Bakin have been updated to support graphics cards equivalent to or higher than the Intel Arc A580. In addition, the required storage space has been revised to 12 GB.

Note:

While Bakin may run on certain integrated graphics solutions, including Intel Arc Graphics, stability and performance are not guaranteed, and such configurations are not officially supported.

This update also includes numerous feature improvements and bug fixes.

Hello everyone!

We’re excited to bring you Major Update Ver. 2.4.

This update introduces new features and improvements that enhance both the visual quality of your games and the ease of creation!

With the implementation of shadow mapping, you can now create dynamic shadows from campfires and lights, allowing for more immersive scene presentation. In addition, the new camera Z-axis rotation feature enables more impactful cutscenes and stronger horror-style effects.

We’ve also added a “Multi-branch (by Variable Value)” panel, which allows you to handle multiple branches based on variable values all at once—making event creation more efficient than ever.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the new features!

ｰ RPG Developer Bakin Ver. 2.4 New Features Video:

- Shadow Maps

A new “Shadow Map” feature has been implemented, allowing shadows to be automatically generated based on lights placed within a map with a simple toggle. This makes it easy to incorporate immersive lighting effects—such as shadows cast by campfires or flashlights—into your game.

- Camera Z Rotation

The camera Z-axis rotation (roll) feature has been added. By intentionally tilting the screen, developers can create unsettling horror scenes or impactful cutscenes, enabling more impactful and memorable visual presentation.

- LOD（Level of Detail）

A feature has been introduced to switch between LOD models embedded within models, based on their displayed height relative to the screen. By simplifying models that are farther from the camera, this helps reduce processing load and improve performance.

- Cloud Shadows

You can now project cloud shadows onto the ground by assigning a cloud texture. Since the texture is applied directly, this feature can also be used for patterns beyond clouds, expanding your creative possibilities for scene design.

- Parallax Occlusion Mapping

We now support parallax occlusion mapping, which uses grayscale images (height maps) to simulate detailed surface depth and irregularities. It allows you to represent fine surface details—such as the unevenness of a brick wall—without modeling them into the mesh. By applying it to decals, you can also achieve a more three-dimensional, realistic look.

- “Multi-branch (by Variable Value)” Panel

A new panel allows multiple branching paths based on variable values. Similar to a switch statement, it supports branching not only by numerical values but also by strings. This simplifies conditional branching that previously required combining multiple event panels.

- Find Usages for Common Events

You can now search for where common events are used across other events. When common events are used for standard processes, this makes it easier to identify which events are calling them.

- Number of Steps

“Number of Steps” has been added as a condition for state removal and automatic damage triggers. For example, you can now create effects like poison that deal damage after the player walks a certain number of steps on the map.

Hello everyone!

We’re excited to bring you Major Update Ver.2.3.

This update introduces many new features and improvements that have been highly requested by our community!

We’ve added an Enemy Party system, allowing enemies to be grouped and handled together. In addition, new store management features such as selling price and inventory controls have been implemented, giving you more ways to enhance and customize your game systems.

We’ve also introduced several tools to make game development more convenient, including a conversation and message preview feature, as well as a function that automatically focuses on the event panel that manipulates a variable when opening the event editor from the variable list.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the newly added features!

- Enemy Party

A new feature has been added that allows multiple casts to be grouped together and treated as an “Enemy Party.”

Enemy parties can be designated as enemies in both encounter battles and event battles, and support party-specific battle layouts and battle event settings. This enables the creation of more strategic battles with richer presentation.

- Conversation & Message Preview

A preview function has been added that allows you to check conversations and messages set in events in a format close to their in-game display.

You can select the layout directly from the conversation or message event panel to preview the text, improving the efficiency of text adjustments.

- Store Price Adjustments and Inventory Management

A new feature allows you to change store item prices (increase or decrease) and manage inventory.

This makes it possible to manage stores in accordance with game progression and scenario developments.

- Variable List Improvements

The Variable List, which allows you to see where variables are being used, has been enhanced.

It is now easier to locate event panels and map events that manipulate variables, making debugging work more efficient.

- Skill Sample Project

A new project has been added that compiles sample skills created using common events, battle events, and database settings.

- (DLC) Localization Tool Kit Improvements

Added text preview functionality for conversations and messages, added note-taking capabilities, and improved overall usability.

Features like adding “OR” conditions to event sheets and particle emitter control, plus much more!

PixelScapes Modern Interior Pack

“PixelScapes Modern Interior Pack” is a pixel-style 3D model pack featuring a wide variety of furniture, home appliances, and everyday items commonly found in modern households. Thank you very much for using “RPG Developer Bakin” throughout this year.

Thanks to your continued support, 2025 became a truly memorable milestone for Bakin, marking the official full release of the product. After delivering numerous updates and continuing to evolve in response to your expectations and requests, we are delighted that the entire development team was able to present the results of our efforts in a definitive form.

This year’s updates included a wide range of new features and improvements, such as the addition of the “Array Variable Operations” and “Batch Variable Clear” panels, internal engine optimizations, support for multiple fonts, binding of multiple C# scripts, enhancements to the selection panel, variable-based switches for layout part display conditions, addition and removal of equipment slots, item usage unlock level settings, expanded features related to reserve members, and the release of the sample project “REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.”

We hope these updates have made game creation with Bakin even more enjoyable and more in-depth for you!

As one of our major challenges this year, we also asked Mr. KEDOUIN—known as the creator of the popular horror game “Corpse Party”—to develop a new sample game titled “REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.”

As part of the renewal, we invited users to submit images of their creations, which are now featured as the background of the website’s top page. We believe it has become a wonderful visual that clearly conveys the kinds of works that can be created with Bakin.

We also added a new page introducing plugins created by our users. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who cooperated with us.

Furthermore, we held a campaign inviting submissions of user-created gameplay videos and received many entries. These videos are scheduled to be released next year, so we apologize for the wait and ask for your patience a little longer.

As in the previous year, we also participated in indie game–related events and Tokyo Game Show 2025. Being able to directly interact with game players and individual game developers, and to hear their enthusiasm and honest feedback, was an extremely valuable experience. It reaffirmed our strong desire to continue evolving Bakin so that everyone can enjoy game development even more.

Looking ahead, we hope to participate not only in events in Japan but also in events held around the world, creating opportunities to meet and talk directly with people everywhere.

In 2026, we hope that Bakin will continue to contribute to the creation of wonderful works by users around the globe.

Hello everyone!

We are excited to bring you the final major update of the year: Version 2.2.

This update focuses on adding long-requested features related to Reserve Members, along with several new systems that expand the overall scope of gameplay.

These additions allow for deeper battle mechanics and more flexible story development.

We have also added a brand-new sample project, “REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.”, so we hope you’ll give it a try!

Now, let’s take a look at some of the key new features included in this update.

- Sample Project “REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.”

A new sample game created by game creator MAKOTO KEDOUIN, who took on the challenge of Bakin, has been added to the Game Gallery.

KEDOUIN’s journey as a creator began with his first encounter with game development tools.

Unable to draw or program at the time, he opened new paths for himself by mastering these tools, eventually establishing his career as a creator.

This time, KEDOUIN challenged himself with “RPG Developer Bakin,” a game development tool that supports 3D creation.

Over the course of approximately 100 days, he single-handedly battled with Bakin to weave this story together.

We invite you to experience the result of his dedication for yourself.

In addition, the characters and other assets used in this game are being released for free use by everyone, in accordance with the terms of use.

Terms of Use for the Original Work and the Assets, etc. of REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice

- Reserve Member Function Enhancements

Ver. 2.2 adds several new functions to make better use of reserve members in the party:

Reserve members can now receive experience points earned in battle.
Swap functionality during battle allows switching active and reserve members.
Various event panels can now target reserve members as well.

These updates make it easier to create games that utilize the reserve member system effectively.

- Party Menu

A new Party Menu feature has been added, allowing you to group commands such as “Swap Members” and “Escape” before selecting individual member actions during battle.

Combined with existing Bakin features, this enables even greater freedom in designing battle flow.

- Solo Party

When using items or skills, unnecessary cast member selection has been removed, allowing for smoother gameplay.

Previously, players always had to specify “who does what to whom,” even when the choice was obvious. This simplification makes menu navigation smoother and more natural for solo adventures.

Beyond this, we have added features such as the ability to display custom descriptions for each save file using variables when selecting save data, as well as various improvements to tool usability—making game creation more enjoyable and convenient than ever.

The creator of the popular horror game “Corpse Party,” KEDOUIN, has released the new sample game “REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.,” created using Bakin, free of charge on the official website. Along with this release, the game project data and related assets for this title have been implemented into the Bakin itself at no additional cost.

“REINES DU SABBAT Queen of Sacrifice.” is a 3D & 2D fantasy-adventure game that reconstructs the prologue of KEDOUIN’s debut work “REINES DU SABBAT” using Bakin. While grappling with a “game creation tool capable of handling 3D” for the first time, KEDOUIN successfully built his distinctive worldview using the core features available up through today’s Update Ver. 2.2. Although the estimated playtime is about one hour, the game is packed with many elements that can serve as inspiration for game creation, including maps, events, characters, sound, and mini-games.

We hope that Bakin users will not only make use of the assets included in this game, but also draw inspiration from its world and scenario for their own creative projects.

Details on the production process of this sample game are also introduced on the development blog “Made with RPG Developer Bakin,” so please be sure to check it out as well.

Message from Chief Director Mr. KEDOUIN

This project—“to create an interesting sample game within a limited timeframe using RPG Developer Bakin to its fullest”—has now been successfully completed.

This title is not a direct port of the original work, but a brand-new story that shares the same world and setting. I have poured a tremendous amount of care and passion into it, hoping that both newcomers and those who feel a sense of nostalgia will enjoy the experience.

This theme originates from the very first game I created during my student days.

For those who own Bakin, the internal game data is also provided, and I sincerely hope this opportunity encourages you to explore Bakin as well—and perhaps, just as I once did, discover the joy of creating games for yourself.

As a sample game by design, the story is depicted up through Chapter One.

That said, my creative spark has been reignited.... so, I’d love to work on Chapter Two and beyond someday! ( ◠‿◠ )
