Hello everyone!
This update is not focused on adding new content, but rather on a comprehensive revision and refinement of the game’s text.
Over the past period, I’ve received a lot of player feedback suggesting that some of the game’s terminology and mechanic descriptions were too abstract and difficult to understand. Based on that, I revisited most of the in-game text and standardized many of these concepts.
Terms such as “Overlap,” “Expansion,” “Shrink,” and “Rift Space” have now been replaced with more intuitive and easier-to-understand expressions. At the same time, all related skills, talents, upgrade effects, and descriptions have been updated accordingly to ensure consistency and clarity across the board.
I hope these changes help both new and returning players reduce friction when reading and make it easier to understand the core mechanics of the game.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to talk a bit about localization.
As a solo indie developer, I currently don’t have the resources to work with a professional translation team. Because of that, most of the localization work relies on AI tools, followed by manual review and adjustments on my side.
While this greatly improves development efficiency, I’m also aware that the final text quality may not always be perfect—especially in subtle meanings, genre-specific terminology, and natural language expression.
Therefore, if you notice any translation issues, awkward phrasing, or inconsistent terminology—or if you’d like to help improve the localization quality—I would be extremely grateful.
You can reach me anytime via Discord, QQ, or the Steam Community to share feedback or suggestions.
I read every single piece of feedback carefully.
Over the next week, updates may not be as frequent as before, as I’ll be focusing on developing a new system: a detailed data interface for in-game production and collection.
This feature will be relatively complex and will take some time to properly design and integrate. However, once completed, it should significantly improve players’ understanding of resource flow and progression paths, leading to a much better overall gameplay experience.
Something worth looking forward to 🙂
🙏 Thank you all for your continued support, and thanks to everyone who helps make the game better.
Wish you all a great time playing the game!
Fixed an issue where the Boxer talent “Greedy Strike” could incorrectly absorb non-copper coins.
Fixed an issue where clicking on Blessings in the Temple UI could occasionally trigger the Prayer button instead.
Fixed an issue where a failed “Expansion” would still play the success sound effect.
Winter Island completion requirement increased from Cube level 20 to 25.
Increased the amount of core energy dropped per Cube level.
Slightly reduced the overall heat decay rate.
Adjusted the Alchemist’s “Delicious” skill: coins gained from Coalball synthesis -1.
These changes mainly aim to improve the early-game pacing, where skill points felt too scarce, making it difficult for players to assemble a functional early build.
At the same time, the Winter Island completion threshold has been raised to give established builds more room to scale, allowing players to better experience the late-game buildcrafting and synergy phase.
Fixed several localization text errors.
Fixed an issue where the “Bumper Harvest” achievement progress would not increase under certain conditions.
Improved the Forge interface layout and streamlined some descriptions. Added tooltip hints to make information presentation clearer and more intuitive.
Removed island icons from the meta-upgrade screen to avoid the misconception that certain upgrades only apply to specific islands.
Reward Rifts and Damage Rifts are now enabled by default after rebirth.
Added a new shortcut: right-click any character button on the left panel to enable auto-upgrade for all skills at once.
Increased the value of Gardener Fruits from 100 Coins to 200 Coins.
🛠 Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where a large number of unusable Gold Mines could appear in the late game, causing performance degradation.
Fixed incorrect values for the "Greedy Strike" talent.
⚙️ Improvements
All material rifts are now unlocked by default after completing Autumn Island.
Added an Auto Upgrade feature to character skill buttons (right-click to enable).
I've read all of your feedback and have been carefully reviewing and addressing it. I'm currently working through the issues that affect the overall experience, smoothing out areas that feel frustrating or inconvenient, and implementing many of the suggestions you've shared.
Thank you for your patience, support, and valuable feedback. Your input is helping make the game better with every update.

Fixed seeds dropping in stacked clusters instead of spawning individually
Added a “Background Mute” toggle option
Added explanatory tooltips when selecting Blessings for better clarity
Slightly increased the base values of the Archer medal skill
Slightly increased the overall decay rate of Heat value
I’ve received a lot of feedback and support from players recently. I’m genuinely grateful that the game has been well received.
At the same time, there are still quite a few issues in terms of user experience and overall polish. I’ll continue working through them step by step in the upcoming updates.
Updates will keep coming. Thank you for your patience and support.
After two years of solo development, Rock Island is finally here.
Thank you to everyone who played the demo, added the game to their wishlist, helped with testing, shared feedback, and continued following the project along the way. To me, this is more than just a release — it feels like the beginning of a new chapter after a long development journey.
Rock Island is an incremental game built around resource loops and system growth.
At the center of the island stands a mysterious giant cube that continuously produces resources. Your goal is to lead the islanders and build an ever-expanding tribal system around it.
You will:
Gather resources
Automate production
Build skill and class synergies
Manage resource distribution and growth loops
Unlock increasingly absurd numbers and chain reactions
As the system expands, the island gradually evolves from a slow and simple operation into a completely overwhelming flood of resources and effects.
The full release includes:
A complete core gameplay loop
Multiple classes and progression paths
Island exploration and unlockable content
Extensive incremental build mechanics
Steam achievements
Multi-language localization support
I will also continue working on:
Balance adjustments
Bug fixes
New content updates
Improvements based on player feedback
Since Rock Island was developed entirely by me as a solo project, there may still be undiscovered bugs or areas that need improvement.
If you encounter:
Bugs
Performance issues
Localization/text errors
Balance problems
Any suggestions or ideas
Please feel free to share your feedback anytime.
Player feedback will directly influence the future direction of the game.
If you enjoy Rock Island, leaving a Steam review would mean a lot.
For indie games, every review, recommendation, wishlist, and share can make a huge difference.
Thank you sincerely for all the support. I hope you enjoy building your own chaotic and ever-growing resource empire on the island.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who played the Demo and shared feedback and suggestions during this period. Whether it was game balance, UI experience, gameplay loops, or various bugs and small details, your feedback has been incredibly valuable. It helped me make a large number of adjustments and improvements before the full release.
As a game that I have been developing solo for the past two years, the Demo phase was extremely important to me. Many issues and improvements that I originally overlooked were gradually discovered and refined thanks to all of your feedback.

To ensure a consistent experience, everyone will need to start a new save in the full version
Once again, thank you to everyone who participated in the Demo test. I hope to see you all again on May 29, as we return to the ever-expanding world of 《Rock Island》.
See you at launch.

Dear players who follow Rock Island, hello! It has been a long time since the last game update. During this period, I have been focusing on polishing the full version of the game and improving every detail, just to bring you a better gaming experience.
Coinciding with the upcoming opening of Steam Next Fest (February 23, 2026), this update is carefully prepared specifically for this event. I hope that during the event, you can feel the brand-new changes of the game, and also look forward to meeting more players through the opportunity of Steam Next Fest.
Compared with the previous version, this update has made comprehensive optimizations and adjustments: the character skills, talent system and tribe upgrade related content have all undergone major iterative optimizations, balancing balance and fun.
First, take a look at the new game scenes—aren’t they more beautiful?
The interface of the Forge has been completely revised. Currently, each character has four pieces of equipment, and each piece of equipment has two different effects that can be switched.
The off-game growth part has also been fully adjusted. At the same time, the unique styles of the island in different seasons have been added, making the game scenes more layered and immersive, and bringing you a brand-new visual experience.
P.S.: The Florist class that was not available in the previous Demo version has now been implemented!
We sincerely invite all players to experience this exclusive updated version for Steam Next Fest and feel the growth and changes of the game! At the same time, we would also like to sincerely thank all players for every opinion and suggestion put forward over the long term. I have carefully read and kept in mind every feedback, and these valuable suggestions will be gradually implemented in the subsequent full version of the game.
Finally, I wish all players a good time during Steam Next Fest, immersive experience the fun of the game, and look forward to witnessing the subsequent growth of the game with you all!
