The wait is over - 2-player online co-op is now available in Roboquest VR on SteamVR as part of today's free update!
Team up with a friend and experience Roboquest VR together as you fight through fast-paced roguelite runs, battle relentless robotic enemies, and discover new weapons, upgrades, and builds with every playthrough.
Co-op also features full cross-play between VR platforms, so you can squad up no matter where your friends are playing.
Whether you're jumping back in or bringing a friend along for their first run, co-op adds a whole new way to experience Roboquest VR.
Grab a friend, jump into co-op, and let us know how far you can make it together!
Getting into a game is simple. You'll be able to:
Match with another player using Quickplay
Join a friend using a Room Code
Invite friends directly to your game
Talk directly in game with newly added Voice Chat
Roboquest VR multiplayer is built for 2-player online co-op, with a few rules in place to keep every run fair, smooth, and synchronized:
Runs must begin together. (Players can't join or rejoin a run already in progress).
Both players will need to open doors and confirm when skipping cinematics.
The game won't pause while either player is selecting perks, so choose wisely!
You are fighting side by side, but each player keeps their own progression during a run.
Chests, healing, and item rewards are generated separately for each player.
Purple room reward chests require both players to reach the reward area before they can be claimed.
Found an amazing weapon that fits your teammate better? You can share weapons with each other throughout the run.
Getting knocked down doesn't mean the run is over.
Self-revive after a cooldown.
Revive your teammate immediately and bring both players back with health split evenly between you.
Joining a friend's game is easy. Players can access any runs the host has already unlocked, making it simple to squad up without everyone needing the exact same progression.
The scrapyard is about to get a lot louder. Multiplayer VR is coming to Roboquest VR in July, bringing 2-player co-op to Roboquest. Whether you are teaming up with a friend or linking up with another Guardian through Quickplay matchmaking, the fight is about to get a whole lot better with backup.

Hello Guardians!
Two weeks after launch and it's time for Patch 2! Thank you all for your help in reporting bugs, giving us feedback, and enjoying the game.
Patch Notes:
Fixed an issue where certain doors might close too early, preventing players from progressing
Fixed an issue where players might not spawn in the right position or orientation in the title menu
Fixed jump pads not propelling players in the right direction if snap turn is used
Fixed the flashlight not following vertical head movement
Fixed the flashlight not working in left-handed mode
Fixed an issue where the player camera would start spinning and flying upwards uncontrollably if the player dies and is resurrected by the "Spare Head" artifact

Ensure damage numbers over enemies always face the player
Block loading of the OpenXR Toolkit layer by default as it instantly crashes the game on start
For players who still want to try their luck, a command line switch -openxrtoolkit can be added to the launch options to reenable the toolkit, but we cannot help or support you if you do this
Fixed an issue where a black square would be stuck to your head. (This primarily affected Pimax users and players who installed mbucchia's quad view XR layer)
We're continuing to work on fixes and improvements, as well as working hard on finishing up multiplayer! If you run into any problems, reach out in our Discord or on Feedbear.
Hello Guardians!
Our first patch for Roboquest VR is now LIVE. We're happy to finally have a solid fix for the black screen at launch, as well as many of the other major issues you've reported.
Thank you for all the feedback! We're working tirelessly to ensure Roboquest VR is in its best state, and your comments help us greatly.
Major:
Fixed multiple issues leading to loss of interaction, making player unable to open doors. This was especially noticeable on Commando and Elementalist classes. We're keeping an eye out for more instances of this - your reports help!
Fixed an issue where certain open xr runtimes and headset combinations lead to a black screen when launching the game
Fixed an issue where certain open xr runtimes and headset combinations lead to intense juddering and very low fps despite good performance - we still recommend Quest headsets connect directly with Meta Link Openxr Runtime for the best experience!
Fixed multiple issues where loading and cinematics had a black screen, loading screens juddering, sometimes getting the player stuck on loading
Bugfixes:
Fixed some of the minor rendering issues with Z fighting
Snap turn no longer stops momentum
Fixed an issue where the 25 wrenches were not assigned after giving a review
Improved performance for water areas (hello Oasis!)
Scope is setup correctly on Gorilla Bolter and the Vulture Rifle
Empty clip onomatopoeia no longer shows when disabled
Empty clip sound is now tied to volume control
The Collector's screen should no longer appear on the player HUD
The pixel density (screen resolution) for all non-quest headsets now applies correctly. This will give you the ability to either boost the rendering quality or boost performance depending on your setup.
Quality of life:
Add gun horizontal angle setting + related localization
Improved the comic book outline effect when MSAA is on
Improvements to weapon swap
Of course, that's not every little thing. We're still working on the things listed below, and if you encounter anything else, please let us know in Discord or on Feedbear: https://roboquest-vr.feedbear.com/boards/bug-reports
Known Issues:
Throwing weapons not behaving as expected (Javelin included)
Energy Center boss door closing on players before they enter
Inconsistent localization quality (désolé)
Colorblind filters do not apply to all materials
Performance issues, more aliasing in the basecamp
Snap turn, or sometimes smooth turn, sometimes drives you off the path of the jump pads
EDIT:
Good news, Guardians!
This known issue has been FIXED with Patch 1! Everyone should be able to launch the game without issue.
You can view all the fixes from Patch 1 in the patch notes here.
There may still be a few edge case issues - if you encounter those, please reach out via Discord or in the comments of this post.
ORIGINAL:
Hey Guardians,
We know some of you are experiencing a black screen when launching the game. We're working on a permanent fix for it right now, but in the meantime, we have some potential temporary fixes that might work for you! Changing your default VR runtime typically fixes this - instructions below!
These guidelines are headset-specific, so find your headset and follow the instructions for each:
For Meta Quest using Link - Make sure Meta Quest Link is set as the default OpenXR runtime in the Meta Quest Link app. (Settings > General > Open XR Runtime)
For Valve Index, set SteamVR as your active OpenXR runtime. (Steam VR > Settings > Open XR)
For 3rd party apps like Virtual Desktop or Steam Link, use those runtimes as default.
Overall, just make sure that you're using the best runtime for your headset!
We'll update with a permanent fix soon, but we know those robots aren't going to explode themselves.
Guardians, today’s the day: Roboquest VR is officially LIVE! Strap in, power up, and get ready to blast your way through waves of badbots with full-motion, dual-wielding, reload-snapping, jump-dashing chaos. We’ve spent years rebuilding Roboquest from the ground up for VR, and now it’s finally in your hands. Go wild. Go fast. Go smash some robots.
Everything you love about Roboquest is now wrapped in glorious, heart-pounding VR. Dodge. Slide. Lean. Reload. Repeat. Whether you’re experimenting with crazy weapon combos, perfecting your movement flow, or discovering just how spicy a close-range crit can be when you’re physically leaning into it.
So what are you waiting for? Start your run. The robots aren’t going to explode themselves.
We’re launching hot, and we’re not stopping here. Here’s what’s coming up:
Localization - More languages so more Guardians can join the fun.
Bug Fixes & Polishing - VR is a wild frontier. We’re hunting down rough edges fast.
Roboptimized - We're getting you some more of that sweet sweet framerate sometime real soon.
Multiplayer - Co-op is coming to Roboquest VR. Get ready to smash robots with your brobots.
Superbot Class - A new class joins the roster. More builds. More firepower.
We’ll be sharing updates as we push each milestone live, so keep an eye on our Steam community hub and socials.
If you notice any issues while playing, please report them in this Feedbear! We’ll be smashing bugs as fast as we can.
Your feedback, excitement, and absolutely unhinged weapon loadouts have kept us going. We can’t wait to see your builds and your speedruns!
We finally have our target locked. The fast-paced roguelite shooter arrives on Steam (and Playstation VR2) on November 20! You'll step into the role of a Guardian and blast through swarms of mechanical enemies across a scorched future world built for speed, agility, and experimentation.
With more than seventy weapons to discover, every run is a chance to test new combinations and playstyles. Dual-wield pistols for slick takedowns, charge up rocket blasts, or dive into melee for up-close chaos. Each level is procedurally generated, keeping the combat fresh and unpredictable.
Completely rebuilt for virtual reality, Roboquest VR features manual reloading, full weapon interaction, and support for future multiplayer co-op. This game is precision-tuned, physical, and built to be played again and again.
Hey Guardians,
The wait’s almost over. We’re teaming up with Without Parole for a special PSVR2 Day livestream on Tuesday, November 4th at 11:30am PT / 2:30pm ET / 7:30pm GMT! That’s when we’ll reveal the Roboquest VR launch date. 👀 More details soon. Make sure you’re subscribed to Without Parole on YouTube and following our socials so you don’t miss it!
In the meantime…are you ready to get your hands dirty? The Roboquest arsenal is coming to VR: 70+ weapons rebuilt from the ground up to make every reload, recoil, and trigger pull feel alive.
Weapons fall into five families: Assault, Precision, Technology, Demolition, and Close Combat. Each family brings its own flavor of fire, and in VR they demand more from your reflexes.
Some of our favorites:
Minion Box (Technology) - Call in a Brobot with the big red button and let it shred!Boomerang (Precision) - Master the throw and the return. Pros will stick the arc. Everyone else should practice.Mini Cricket (Technology) - Send your enemies running (and yourself flying) with the power of this weapon. Mantis Crossbow (Precision) - Hear the satisfying “flink” as you loose each bolt and seat a new one to reload.Every weapon is tuned for presence and feel with two-handed handling, tactile reloads, and real recoil. You’ll feel it when the barrel bucks and your hands fight to keep control.
Whether you’re spraying, sniping, or setting the world on fire, the arsenal in Roboquest VR is all about power, precision, and physicality.
So, Guardian, what will be your weapon of choice?
– The Roboquest VR Team
