Welcome Robber Knights, Lords, and Princesses!
We are finally nearing the finish line. We are about 1–3 months away from letting you play what we have been working on for the last two years. And it has been a lot.
Bigger map
New quests
New villages to conquer
New armor
New weapons
New building system
New building meshes
New combat system
Horses
Fully functional co-op mode
And I could go on and on, but I'll leave some surprises for later.
What will the launch look like?
First, we will release version 0.9995, which will still be in Early Access. This is a version that we believe is feature-complete. It will also be your last chance to grab the game with a bigger Early Access discount.
You'll be able to play it, report your final suggestions and wishes, and let us know about any bugs you find.
We'll fix them or add the requested features as quickly as possible.
Then we'll move on to version 1.0 and celebrate the full release together.
What happens after the launch?
We plan to support the game for a long time after launch with both free and paid DLCs. We already have some "secret" plans, but for now let's focus on the upcoming release.
Why did it take so long? Why two whole years without an update?
Well, the answer is pretty simple.
1. We were too inexperienced to fulfill your expectations, so we had to learn a lot of new things first. I'll tell you more about our journey after the full release.
2. We are a two-person team, while games like this are usually made by teams of 20 or more people. We enjoy working this way, but it means both you and us have to be patient. As you can see, we've been working very hard to deliver what we promised.
3. We wanted to create something more than just another indie game built from assets where you chop trees and fight enemies. We wanted to make something special—something you can't get anywhere else.
4. The code was such a mess that every time you touched it, everything started falling apart ːYouHenː So we had to rewrite or completely rebuild many parts of the game, especially everything related to co-op mode.
I hope that when you finally get to play it, you'll feel it was worth the wait.
Let's talk about what's new.
Every time I post an update, I instantly get asked, "What about building?!" So let's talk a little more about that.
You can build wherever you want, except in NPC towns, villages, and story-important locations. If a simple bandit camp is in your way, you can raid it and destroy it so it never respawns.
You can mix manor buildings with castle buildings. You can live in a simple house, or build a huge castle with magnificent royal chambers. It's a fully modular building system where your creativity is the only limit.
I'm also working on a system that lets you paint your plaster any color you want and decorate it with ornaments. This will allow you to create truly unique manors, towns, and castles.
4. Castles are still a work in progress, and we're making them easier and more enjoyable to build. It will probably end up with a spline-based building system or at least an optional top-down camera. But we'll see. I might also simply redesign the building pieces to make them easier to place, and then let you work your magic with them.
5. This time, if you feel that a building piece is missing, I'll be able to create it much more quickly. That means we can keep expanding the building system together almost without limits.
Farming and crafting
Both systems are coming back, fully repaired and improved. That means no more trees regrowing inside your house, no more running to a shop just to buy a torch, and no more waiting for a wood tribute while you're stranded in the middle of the forest.
Of course, tributes are still in the game, so if you just want to enjoy the story and smite your enemies, there's no need to chop trees or craft items. This version is all about doing what you want, not what you have to do.
This time we're checking everything carefully, piece by piece. Nothing is being rushed, so there should be no nasty surprises.
And don't tell the King... the blacksmith has been secretly trying on his helmets. 🤫
I'd love to share even more with you, but as I mentioned before, we're just a two-person team. Every minute I spend writing this post is a minute when 50% of the team isn't working on the game, so that's all for today.
Get ready for a great adventure!
