Quick patch release, v0.60.02! Here's what's new:
- Boom!(bomber game) no longer hurts you on friendly fire explosions, so you can now throw your bombs at will! (Thanks jknifgijdfui!) - M.O.M. now reacts to the snow when she first sees it - Boss Rush lv.2+ is now locked until you beat the end game (progression flow fix)
Here's a new update for all you people! One of the most requested feature is in: a new snow effect!
For this snow effect, I've worked on it to act very similar to the one I've made over 20 years ago. I've studied the old code and even used the same positioning and velocity table values from the old source code to generate the effect. However, to unlock this, you'll need to work for it! It unlocks once you beat the end game.
So what's in the end game? Well, first you'll finally get to see what's behind that door to your left. Then you'll need to defeat the boss rush mode. You'll encounter all your previous boss battles, but this time they will all team up together against you.
Once you beat it, you'll be free to go outside and explore!
However, M.O.M. has always warned you about the dangers of going outside. So what challenges will you encounter? I'll let you find out, but it's a pretty fun and hard one. A part of it can also be considered a brand new game mode.
- Improved collision detection in Robo Busters. Crystals on the ground can now be destroyed for points.
- Fixed music/sound disabled properly on game slots other than 1
- Cursor in match 3 puzzle game can now collect gems
- Garbage Truck Hero (truck maze) controls are much better now, no longer gets stuck when trying to make a turn early
- Spelling mistake in RPG arcade ending
- The Dungeon now gives the player half second of invincibility when entering a room
- Improved collisions in Ping Ball
- New intro music
- New Achievements
The next update will be focused on converting more games into arcades, so be sure to look forward to it. Going to take a bit of a break from development for now, but i hope you'll enjoy this update. Getting closer and closer to getting out of Early Access!
Finally! A major milestone has been reached with 52 games in Retro Endurance 8bit! This is one of the major goals for Early Access. It's not done yet out of Early Access however as I still need to create a proper end game, then start converting these games into full arcades. But it's getting closer and closer!
New in this version are four new games:
It's your classic turtle vs hare fairy tale, except that the turtle's got a rocket pack attached. Spam the button to get the turtle rocketing at super duper speeds.
Play as this gravity defying bug that shoots out lava from its top. This one is a bit tricky to learn how to control, so spend some time getting to know this little bug.
Quickly assemble those hamburgers for those hungry customers. But watch out for those with strict dietary needs!
Play this wonky 3D-ish shoot 'em up and destroy all those robot heads trying to destroy our future!
New accessibility features! (available at level 5)
Configure your trophy target difficulty: Easy, Medium (default), or Hard
Set last round speed to either Fast (default) or Normal (no speed-up)
Add additional time countdown text over the progress meter

And some fixes:
Fix for RPG arcade having pausing menu appear behind store & inn screens
Fix Screen Fill red enemy escaping issue, bug on gem causing player death
Fix for platformer respawning below ground after falling
Significant level up requirement reductions until the second boss, some additional reductions afterwards
Added 500 points to the person finishing first in the races in Multiplayer
RPG fix with no level up when you get the exact amount of exp required

Catching up available multiplayer games to all 52 games

And thanks for all those who sent in your Steam Deck reports! I can happily announce that Valve has officially tested and verified that the game is Steam Deck Compatible!
So what's next for the next version? I'll be working on a proper end game challenge in addition to a boss rush mode. After that I will start converting the remaining games to full arcades.

Hello there!
I'm creating this post to gauge what your experience is when playing Retro Endurance 8bit on Steam Deck if you have one. Apparently, in order to get out some sort of information on Steam Deck compatibility, I'll need to create a Steam Event Post on it so that I can link it from the game page. So far, I've received multiple reports that this game works great on the Steam Deck, but I would greatly appreciate it if some of you can confirm this. Thanks so much!
Here's a new boss battle for you! This will be the 5th boss battle facing a little squeaky guy! He's got less hit points than the other bosses, but he's also quite a bit more technically challenging than the other bosses. Good luck!
As mentioned in the last update, I'm going to be just focusing on adding new games to the shuffler mode. Once I hit 52 games, then I'll shift my focus over to adding more games to the arcades. We're almost there! Just 4 more games to go! But for now...
A new game approaches! This is the 45th game in Retro Endurance called Rocket Upwards. Use the button to accelerate and use the controls to move the rocket. Avoid all the junk in your way. Can you make it to space?
Another game approaches! 46th game called Fill Screen. It's a Qix clone, but it's faster paced and has additional elements such as collectables and spikes. Just in time for Halloween, you control a spider and fill up the screen with icky webs. Hold the button to create a line across without hitting an enemy to fill an area of the screen outside of the red enemy.
New game! 47th game called Bouncy Tanks. It's kind of based off of Tank-Pong in the game Combat for the Atari 2600. But it's more updated with a much faster pace and can get quite chaotic. It's just you against other tanks. Just watch out as the bullets, including both yours and your enemies, can bounce around everywhere!
And the last new game of this update: 48th game called Trampoline. Now there's a good amount of games that this is based on, but the last one I played that inspired this is the "Puppy Love" stages in Earth Worm Jim 2. Now you get to feel the frustration as you attempt the near impossible task of saving those blobs jumping off the burning building!
- Game name now displays over disable icons and arcades on sale when the player goes near them
- CRT Scanline Filter added - enable it in the settings. (Thanks AdmiralClassy for the idea!)
- New unlocked games will now play up to 3 times in a row as long as an even newer game doesn't get unlocked

A new version awaits! This time, we've got 4 new games to a total of 44 in shuffler mode. No changes to the arcades as now I actually want to finish all 52 games in shuffler mode first, then focus on converting them to full arcades. 8 more games to go before we reach 52 games!
So here are the new games:
Water Racing - Well, okay, not really a racing game. More of a shooter game with racing elements that takes the racing game spot in the shuffler mode. In this game, you need to selectively attack the various objects to maximize your points. Some obstacles take more hits than others but give you a bigger score. Just don't collide into them!
A Mine Sweeper Clone (with a twist)- Here's a mine sweeper clone, and it plays almost like the original except for a couple of changes to make it work better with a one button time limited shuffler style gameplay. Firstly, you don't lose the entire game if you hit a mine, just two seconds of your time before you can continue. So if you think you're stuck and your next move will take more than 2 seconds, go ahead and take that risk! Second, it auto-reveals mines around the obvious numbers. This means that if a square has the number 2 and there are only 2 remaining blocks to reveal around it, those are auto revealed as mines.
Robot Attack - It's like a hybrid of Contra and Missle Command. Shoot at robots and missiles that come at you from various angles. Watch out as certain enemies can seek you out so you need to destroy them otherwise you're toast!
Mousey Lifts - Am I the only one here with a nostalgic soft spot for Gyromite? For some reason, I loved being able to lift/drop down pipes to solve platformer puzzles. So here's a game inspired by Gyromite where you lift or drop pipes to either bring your mousey to new places or to smash those rolling enemies,
And some of fixes/features:
A new reset button in the disable room to quickly clear the star and all disables
Fixed issue where the new game unlocked sometimes won't show up if you're using the star icon.
Reduced level up goals across the board in Shuffler mode. Now you can unlock new games faster!

Game #36 - Back in the days, if you played Marble Madness, here's a clone of it! Controls like the original too!
Game #37 - Here's a vertical shoot 'em up. You control a dragon destroying a more modern world filled with buildings, boats, and tanks.
Game #38 - inspired by Donkey Kong, you control a teddy bear working your way up a construction factory.
Game #39 - Remember Gauntlet? Here's a new game inspired by it:
Game #40 - Here's a one screen shooter where you move a hummingbird that apparently shoots nectar. Dogs, cats, and mice float up in balloons attacking you. Pop their balloons and watch them fall!
I've got 5 new full multi-stage arcades for you!
Super Speed Racer - Play the racing game inspired by the racing game in Battle Toads. Speed up or slow down to avoid the obstacles and beat the time!
Slime Drop - Drop the slime through multiple challenging stages. Push up or the button to unleash your parachute and reach the end!
Treasure Hunt - A game inspired by Clu Clu Land, reveal the hidden treasures and reveal the puzzles!
Anti Virus - Control a microscopic tank and shoot those pesky viruses into bubbles. Then pop them to victory!
Shooting Gallery - Test your reflexes and target everything in this fun carnival inspired game!
I've also partnered up with ZeNfA Productions to create a new Retro Inspired bundle, so if you want a great deal on two fun retro style games, be sure to check it out!
And to end, just to be a bit on the honest side, my interest in this project has been waning a bit lately so I've decided to take a break from its development and will likely continue working on it sometime in the near future.
