Hi everyone! I’m one of the developers of Re:Night.
After a long journey of development, testing, and iteration, our turn-based tactical deckbuilding roguelike Re:Night is now officially available on Steam! The game is currently 10% off during its launch period, bringing the price down to $12.59.
From our first public demo at a gaming convention in China in 2024 to finally releasing the full game today, we have scrapped and rebuilt many parts of the game along the way. We have also received an incredible amount of feedback and encouragement from players.
Thank you to everyone who played the demo, joined our playtests, added the game to their wishlist, reported an issue, or simply left us an encouraging comment!
So, what kind of game is Re:Night?
Choose Three Out of Six Characters to Form Your Party
In Re:Night, you choose three out of six characters with distinct abilities to form your adventuring party.
Some excel at massive burst damage. Some wear enemies down with flanking attacks. Others can control the battlefield, create obstacles, summon projections of enemies, or gradually build an advantage through poison, bleed, bombs, and pincer attacks.
Not every character needs to be the star of the party. You can assign one character as your primary damage dealer while the other two provide support, or build a cohesive strategy around a mechanic shared by all three characters.
Any combination of three characters can clear the game, and every three-character party can create more than 20 different builds worth trying.
More Than 300 Cards and 200 Pieces of Equipment
The full version includes:
・ More than 300 distinctive cards;
・ More than 200 pieces of equipment that can be freely combined;
・ Dozens of items that can save you in critical moments;
・ Six playable characters with completely different playstyles;
・ Numerous character-specific mechanics and cross-character synergies.
However, having more cards in your deck is not always better. Taking too many cards can make your deck inconsistent. Finding the missing piece that completes your strategy is often the smarter choice.
Some cards apply elements, some provide defensive tools, and others only reveal their true power when used from a specific position or played in a particular sequence. Building a focused deck around your core strategy and giving each of your three characters a clear role is one of the most important parts of deckbuilding.
Exploit Elemental Counters and Turn Small Hits into Massive Damage
The elemental statuses above an enemy’s head aren’t just for show.
By applying the correct elements and exploiting elemental counters to trigger critical hits, an ordinary-looking attack card can deal an absurd amount of damage.
You may start a run with basic cards that deal only 1–2 damage, but with the right setup and coordination, a single hit can eventually break 100. Pulling that off is one of the most satisfying moments in Re:Night.
Plan your action order each turn, then watch the numbers keep climbing!
The Tactical Combat Is About More Than Moving a Few Tiles
Positioning is a major part of every battle.
You can use flanking and collision damage to increase your damage output, place obstacles to restrict enemy movement, use a healthier party member to protect one with low HP, or kite a powerful enemy and make it waste an entire turn.
Just like in classic tactical games, the outcome of each battle is closely tied to your formation and strategic decisions. Terrain, obstacles, attack ranges, and enemy movement abilities are all tools you can use to your advantage.
The same hand of cards can produce completely different results depending on where your characters are positioned.
Made a Mistake? Rewind and Think It Through Again
We know that combining complex card mechanics with tactical combat can make it easy for a single misclick to ruin an entire run. That is why Re:Night offers several rewind options.
You can undo your last action, rewind to the start of the current turn, or even restart the battle from the very beginning. Study enemy behavior, experiment with different positioning, card sequences, and elemental combinations, and use each rewind to test your ideas.
There is no penalty for rewinding, and no limit to how often you can do it. We simply want players to feel free to explore every possibility without pressure.
Make mistakes, take back your moves, and keep trying until you discover your own path to victory.
A Choice of Three Bosses, Hidden Stages, and Ten Difficulty Levels
We didn't want every run to throw the same enemies at you. Each floor features one of three possible bosses, and there are also hidden stages and hidden bosses waiting to be discovered.
At launch, players can work their way all the way up to Difficulty 10. As the difficulty increases, enemies become stronger, their mechanics become more demanding, and higher difficulties require stronger builds and a deeper understanding of the game's mechanics.
As one of our playtesters put it: "At higher difficulties, you start seeing the game in a completely different way, and that's where some of its deepest fun comes from."
You can play on Difficulty 1 to comfortably experience the different characters and the complete story, or gradually challenge higher difficulties and attempt a perfect clear with different three-character parties.
There are also more than 100 Steam Achievements waiting to be unlocked. How you play is entirely up to you.
More Than Just the Main Roguelike Adventure
In addition to the main roguelike mode, the game also includes:
・ Individual storylines for all six characters;
・ Tactical puzzle challenges built around specific mechanics;
・ A step-by-step tutorial for new players;
・ A hidden true ending;
・ A global leaderboard;
・ Leaderboard players' parties and deck lists.
If you're not sure how to build your party, you can check the parties and decks used by top-ranked players and learn from their builds.
We have also created a Chinese group chat and an international Discord community. Feel free to share creative builds, massive damage numbers, and successful runs, or ask other players for help with your strategy.
One Last Thing We Want to Say
Re:Night was not made by a large team with a massive budget.
It was created by a three-person indie dev team and is the result of countless late nights spent designing, revising, debating, and testing.
The game may still not be perfect, but we sincerely hope this combination of three-character party building, roguelike deckbuilding, elemental interactions, and tactical positioning offers players something a little different.
Re:Night is now officially available on Steam, with a 10% launch discount bringing the price down to $12.59.
If you enjoy deckbuilding, turn-based tactical combat, and experimenting until you finally assemble an absurdly powerful combo, we hope you'll join us in this endless night.
We're Seahorse Games. Thank you for all your support, and we'll see you in the game!
