📖 Word Meanings
This is the big one: the game now knows what your words mean. A gentle toast shows the definition the moment a word is accepted, and in the word history you can open any word to read all of its senses (click it, or press R3 on a gamepad). It works completely offline, in every one of the game's languages, and it understands inflected forms - play "geese" and you'll get the entry for "goose". English definitions come from WordNet, the rest from Wiktionary. Also new: French, the game's eighth language, with its own interface, dictionary, quests and definitions.
🤝 Co-op grows up
The two-player screen now has everything single-player has:
The full HUD - daily quests, score and moves, the word & hint history log and the controls popup are all on the co-op board now.
Shared hints - either player can spend a star to reveal the next word, and the glowing tap order shows up for both of you.
Your own stars, quests and stats - golden letters you collect earn you stars, and the words you play count toward your own daily quests and lifetime statistics, just like solo.
Suggestion pings - tap a letter on your partner's half to softly highlight it for them. It clears the moment they pick it up. Works both ways, no voice chat needed.
A cleaner board - no more boxed frames; each half sits under its player's name, with wider spacing so tiles never crowd each other.
✨ A new look for the menus
The main menu, Single Player, Settings, Statistics, Customization and the co-op lobby were rebuilt in a calmer, more game-like style, with the logo spelled out in board tiles and a prompt bar that always shows your current keyboard or gamepad controls. Everything scales up on large monitors and still fits the Steam Deck screen.
🔧 Fixes & under the hood
Hint order numbers are no longer clipped on round tiles, stay readable on golden ones, and no longer get relabelled when you tap the hinted letters out of order.
Daily quest progress and hint counting fixes, and the word meaning panel now animates closed as well as open.
The game moved to a much newer Chromium, the window now runs sandboxed with a strict content policy, and the packaged build is smaller and starts quicker.
Thanks for playing - see you on the board. 💚
A follow-up to the 3.0 co-op launch with the things you asked about most. 🌐 Pick your co-op language
The host can now choose the game language right in the two-player lobby. The choice syncs to the guest, and your saved party remembers it. Continuing a saved party in a different language? The game now asks whether to keep the selected language or switch back to the saved one.
⏸️ Friendlier co-op pause
Pausing in co-op now opens the normal pause menu (Resume / Settings / Menu). Pausing is local - your partner keeps playing - and a small "your partner is in the pause menu" note appears so a quiet board never looks frozen.
✨ Menu & HUD fixes
The word & hint history now shows the newest entry first and follows new rows automatically.
The main menu no longer jumps as your stats load.
Single Player's Continue button stays put (shown disabled) when there's no saved game.
On Steam Deck, Settings hides the screen-mode row (you're always fullscreen in Game Mode), and the language dropdown opens upward near the bottom of the screen.
The themed background no longer swallows clicks.
Thanks for playing - see you on the board. 💚
Grab a friend and build words together on a shared 6x6 board.
Each player controls their own side of the grid, but every word belongs to both of you. Invite a friend directly through the Steam overlay - the party connects through Steam P2P, while the host keeps your progress safely saved with Steam Cloud.
Whether you're solving together or just competing for the best words, Relax Scramble is now a shared experience.
Your collected Stars now have a bigger purpose.
Spend them on seasonal themes, new tile shapes, and unique tile colours:
• Halloween and Winter themes
• Rounded and Circle tiles
• Neon, Glass, and Gold styles
Mix and match everything to create your own board style. All your choices are saved and synced through Steam Cloud.
Curious about your best words?
A new Statistics screen tracks your journey:
• Lifetime best word
• Total words found
• Average word length
• Recent performance chart
Find it directly from the main menu and see how your vocabulary grows over time.
No more forgetting that perfect word.
A new side panel keeps track of every word you've played and every hint you've revealed, including points and multipliers. Look back at your recent discoveries or find patterns in your play style.
The menu has been redesigned around the way you play:
• Single Player and Two Player now have their own spaces
• Statistics and Customization are easier to reach
• Settings are neatly grouped alongside everything else
Thanks for continuing to play Relax Scramble. I hope you enjoy building words together! 💚
Six fresh quests every day, up to 3 active at a time, replaced as you finish them. Goals adapt to your language — words starting with a letter, longer words, scores, golden and bonus words, and more. Tick them off at your own pace, watch the countdown to tomorrow's set, and keep a daily streak alive (shown right on the menu).
Earn a Star for every 5 golden letters you collect — with a live progress bar — plus rewards for finishing quests and a bonus for clearing them all. Spend Stars on hints today, with more to come.
Pick your vibe in Settings (saved to Steam Cloud):
• Cosmic — a starfield drifting through aurora.
• Ocean — soft, rising bubbles.
• Forest — greens, warm amber light and fireflies in the trees.
Switching a theme now recolours the whole interface — buttons, sliders and highlights, not just the background — and each theme carries its own music and sound set.
Softly drifting gradients, twinkling stars, fireflies and bubbles, plus occasional little easter-egg animations (shooting sparks, ripples). A flatter, low-key HUD keeps the focus on the grid: score top-center, quests top-left, redesigned action buttons, and a new menu with "hero" stats over an animated sky. Pause and hint dialogs now use a frosted-glass look.
Ask for a hint and the word's letters gently glow right on the board, so it's easy to spot. Step through the board's words one at a time with "Another word," and the hint tidies itself away the moment you play a word or regenerate the grid.
A rotating "did you know" word fact keeps you company while things load — dozens of them, fully localized in every supported language — with a softly glowing logo and a spinner that follows your theme. Quick loads now linger just long enough to read.
Unified, fully-localized keyboard controls — Arrows move, Space picks, Enter submits, Backspace undoes, R = new grid, H = hint, Q = quests (working on any layout). Fully controller- and keyboard-friendly settings, a language picker that shows each language in its own name, and a friendly first-run tutorial.
Music resumes correctly after a long silence, Backspace removes a letter on the very first press, and the score stays perfectly centered.
Pour a cup of something warm and play a few words. 💚
🎮 Full controller support - navigate menus, play, and use hints entirely with a gamepad. No mouse needed.
🕹️ Improved controller recognition with correct on-screen button glyphs (Xbox / PlayStation / Nintendo / Steam Deck).
🟦 Steam Deck ready - launches fullscreen at native resolution and is fully playable with the Deck's built-in controls.
🌍 Automatic language - the game now starts in your Steam client language on first launch.
✨ Steam Rich Presence - your friends can see your current score.
🐛 Fixes & polish - correct word validation in all languages, gamepad-operable hint popup, and smoother cursor movement.
