The day is almost here. Recessive — my very first game on Steam — releases Tuesday, August 4th at 8:00 AM Central Time, and I couldn't be more excited to finally get it into your hands and let everyone explore what I've been building.
I'm proud to say Recessive is launching as a full release, not early access. It's a feature-complete game: start with a few empty tubs, source your foundation snakes, and breed your way toward the rarest morphs through a deep genetics engine that plays by real inheritance rules. Every pairing, every hatch, and every gene you're chasing is in there and ready to play from day one.
That said, launch day is really just the beginning. I'll be keeping a close eye out and fixing any bugs that come up, and I've got a few major updates planned based on your feedback — including the possibility of adding even more morphs to hunt down the road. Where the game goes from here is going to be shaped by the people playing it.
I've also got some great platform news: Recessive now has full Linux support alongside Windows, and it's fully playable on Steam Deck — so you can hatch clutches at your desk or on the couch, wherever you like.
Thank you to everyone who wishlisted, followed along, and supported this project on the way here. It means the world for a first game. I can't wait for you to dig in — see you on release day!
