Welcome to Part 2 of our introduction series. Today it’s all about Clampy!
Using Clampy successfully is currently a challenge. If we look at the matches of the current season you can see that the winrate of Clampy is just around 30%. But this also means that competitors don’t expect matching Clampy.
And expectations can be used.
Similar to most Promptables, Clampy is relatively small. His colouration does not attract special attention. With the right Prompt he might be a hiding champion.
Depending on the exact wording of a Prompt, his efficiency changes. Try to use different synonyms and see how the AI Referee interprets each version. Does it make a difference if you reuse words used in the scenario descriptions within your attacs?
Hiding, Camouflage, Bury, Cloak …
Dictionaries of synonyms like thesaurus.com might help you looking for just the right word.
Something else you can notice while looking at Clampy are his long yellow limbs. On first glance they look just like a clamp. But is this really the only way to use them?
Isn’t the shape of its tips just like little feet? Maybe Clampy can kick someone as well! They could be sharp as well, as if they were blades! They could be even used as pipes, filled with toxic fluids. Does Clampy use them for spiderlike movement?
What does Clampy remind you of?
Look at him and try to find fitting Prompts for his abilities. Test around what happens if you follow a specific theme?
How can you use as few words as possible to explain your reasoning to the AI Referee? How does the ability work? Which words are chosen by the AI Referee when he comments your ideas? How does the Duel Referee interpret your abilities?
Could you prompt some interesting abilities for Clampy? How does Clampy do in duels with them? Do you feel challenged to use Clampy more now?
Next time we’ll talk more about Coraly.
Welcome to the first part of our introduction series.
Finding out which abilities are fitting for a certain Promptable isn’t always easy. Therefore we decided to start a series introducing all our Promptables. Find out what makes them special!
Whether you’re playing since day one or are new to the game, we have some information for all of you.
Sleepy has been the most used Promptable for Season 1. Also in the current season he is well played. Yes, even after finishing the Tutorial. Players choose him as designated fighter in almost 30% of cases. But why?
Are his abilities the best? If yes, which prompts are needed to bring out these exceptional skills? Or is it just that it is too adorable to resist?
With his yellow-orange body he sticks out in any environment. The huge white eyes will see right through you and any enemy. They’re mezmerising. Telekinesis, Hypnosis – his specialty is the power of his thoughts!
For starters it can be helpful to build on the starting abilies of any Promptable. Look at Sleepys abilities. How can you change them? If you upgrade the ability-slots you have even more characters to add details. Adding details can ehance the efficiency of an ability.
You can always try around with own ideas. Just see where it takes you. Don’t forget to change the title of the ability. It has influence on how the AI Referee evaluates an ability. Changing it might convince the Referee to allow your desired ability, it also has an effect on the efficiency within a duel.
When the AI Referee declines an ability you can gather more information by reading through the reason it gives you. Most of the times it gives you hints which types of abilities it expects for a specific Promptable. Not every ability fits for every Promptable. All of them have their individual strengths!
Did you notice how often the AI Referee mentions Hypnosis or Telekinesis with Sleepy?
In the end it still might be necessary to brinbe the AI Referee. It is more expensive, but it’s still worth saving for.
Sometimes abilities are more efficient if you adapt them to the possible Scenarios.
For example: Telekinesis-Grapple: Suspends Enemy magically in zero gravity
It works best in Scenario #2, the Space Station.
Try to use Sleepy to influnce one of the other Scenarios with his abilities. Does it work? How does the AI Referee interpret your Prompt during the duels? Which information are missing so your ability works as intended?
How easy is it for you to prompt good abilities for Sleepy? What makes a good ability for you?
I hope you’ve got a few new ideas. We’ll see each other again: Next time with Clampy!
There was some feedback on how inconsistent the results for some abilities of the Promptables are. When we evaluated the match results, we could validate that there is an issue with the AI-Referee and found a visible bias.
Currently, we can see that player 1 wins distinctly less than player 2. In the beginning of a match, it’s randomized which player is player 1 or player 2, so the total number of wins should be nearly identical. This disadvantage for player 1 is the reason why some abilities seem unreliable.
Originally the current AI was implemented to negate the influence of the first round for the result of the whole match. Additionally, it got more likely for a round to end in a draw if similar or neutralizing abilities met each other. These changes seemingly introduced the bias. Though, we don’t know what exactly caused it.
This is why we decided to temporarily reset the Duel-Referee to its release version while we continue to work on the problem.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.

This also means that your attacks were resetted with the start of the new season. It will keep everything fair for everybody. But no worries, you’re still able to look up your old prompts and and decide to reuse them. You will keep the Promptables you’ve unlocked as well as the upgraded attack slots.
It will be exciting to see who climbs the Leaderboard in the new season.
At this point congratulations to our Top 3 players of Season 1!

Meet Sir Rene and Coraly!
Sir Rene
Coraly
Coraly got named by Jupiterpuffa! His suggestion won the community-vote by a close margin ahead of Synaps (anonym submission) and Korallix (Luemmelz). We congratulate on his win and thank you for your participation! We loved all of your names.
And don’t forget the upcoming tournament on June 26th 2026 at 4pm (GMT+2). More information will be posted at the start of the week here or via Discord. We’re hoping for many participants. As there is something small for the winner as well.

We’ve gotten suggestions by you – the community. And now you can vote how this Promptable will be called! Look through the submissions here and vote for your favourite! We‘ve liked all of your ideas, but the name might be a bit long if we just combined all of them. Luckily we’ve got you!
You’ve got time until June 18th 2026 11:59 pm (GMT+2) to decide!
Additionally, it is worthwhile to prepare yourself for the next season. Try to play as much as possible to collect data bits. You might need them next season! On June 26th 2026 4pm (GMT+2) there will be a Promptables Tournament held via Discord!

If the wait is too long: Why not shorten it with listening to the newest episode of the KI Podcast by the ARD (German). One of their topics is Promptables!
Have fun listening to the podcast episode. We will hear each other again next Friday!
With this update we could address a few of the known issues with the AI and some additional bugs. Thank you for your feedback! It helps us to improve our game.
The outcome of a duel is now less dependant on the outcome of the first round of a match. We will continue to evaluate the issue and introduce further changes if necessary. You can help us to test if the changes work by playing. The more matches happen the easier it gets for us to make further changes.
The AI-Referee now allows abilities based on cartoon logic more consistently.
Erroneous AI outputs now get fully handled on our servers. Players should not get any empty referee dialogues anymore.
The filter for usernames was fixed. Previously wrongfully filtered names like “Jürgen” can now be used as username.
The maximum difference for the ELO between players within a duel was reduced. Players with huge ELO differences can’t be matched anymore.
Mail addresses with .education or the similar can now be used for registration.
Dear Community,
You might have noticed the Demo being unavailable now. But don’t worry, this just means the full version of Promptables – Das KI-Duell is available now!
A new chapter begins and we’re happy to start into the first Season of Promptables!
But first a short disclaimer: Promptables – Das KI-Duell is and will be completely free and without any kind of advertising. Everything within the game can be reached just by playing it free and fair for everybody. That’s possible due too the collaboration with the german public broadcasting services. After all Promptables is developed as a game in context of the KI Podcast by the ARD. Check it out if you want more information about how AI works and how it can be used.
You’ve heared that one right. Season 1 will be go on until the 18th of June 2026. It will bring new scenarios, a reset of the leader board – your opportunity to farm a bit of ELO and rush ahead! –, new Scenarios and a fresh slate for your Promptables!
While resetting every ability for the Promptables may seem hard at first, there are a few good reasons for it. It’s easier for us to continue working on the AI this way. If we want to change anything about the AI, we can now do so when the season ends. Resetting the abilities avoids giving any advantages to players with strong legacy-prompts. And let’s be honest: Isn’t it more fun anyways to try new things?
No worries, even though not all of them are activated right after starting, all Promptables from the Demo are in full version as well. And there are even a few new ones!
Quibbel, Clampy and Amöbios are awaiting you in the Lab! Once activated with data scraps, you’ll be able to continue playing with them even in future Seasons.
Clampy is easy to miss, but if you won’t be able to flee if he ever gets ahold of you with his clamps! Compared to him, Amöbius colours are screaming at you – is this a warning? Quibbel seems to think so, looking at him squished against the wall, avoiding contact. What might these three be able to do?
Time to ask the AI-Referee …
If you’re a bit taken aback with how hard the AI-Referee is on your Prompts, there might be a new way to go about this issue. With every decline of a Prompt the Combo-Bar fills until it’s possible to bribe the AI-Referee. If you’re ready to pay a bit more of your data scraps you might be able to convince the Referee to allow the ability of your dreams.
Now it’s also possible to play on the go!
Via https://www.promptables.de/ you can play via browser, thus on your phones or on other OS. Finally, you can play while waiting for the bus! Or finish the weekly quests while you’re outside!
The web and the steam account can be connected.
After logging in via Steam, you can add an email address and password to your account. This way you can also log in via the web version of the game. If you create an account for the web version first, you can add the Steam-Account if you use the account information for the web version to log in after opening the game via Steam.
The matchmaking works independent from the version you’re playing on so you can match anyone regardless if they’re playing via the web client or the Steam version.
Also, now you can change the Username and email address in your account settings.
Now there is not anything more to say besides: Have fun playing and prompting!
Feel free to join the public play session tomorrow at 4pm (GMT+2) via Discord if you want to hang out. We will celebrate the release a bit.
Dear Promptables friends,
May will be exciting. We have a few things planned for you and some great news. The demo is getting another update, there will be more playsessions and we have a release date!
You might have expected it: There will be more than the five Promptables you've got to know through the demo in the full version of the game. Two of them seem to be a bit overexcited. They made their way into the lab ... now?
The walls reflect strange echoes. Rock fragments are crumbling down. Two strange silhouettes are coming closer.
Orebit and Clapbat are ready for a duel!
Already an idea which attacks might fit them? Time to get to work!
Now you're able to test your prompting skills directly against your friends with using the private queue.
You're trying to get more interesting interactions between your Promptables and the environment? No problem. Now you can select a scenario before entering the queue. In a match you'll not be set in either your or your enemies selected scenario.
Maybe you'll find some interesting ways to use it to your advantage.
And there is more! For more detailed patchnotes, check the end of this post.
If you're now tempted to test your Prompts against unknown opponents, check out the play sessions! They will be once per week in May. Friday is now Promptables-Day!
01/05/2026, 8pm GMT+2

Dear Community,
Keep your schedules free on Saturday! On March 14th 2026 at 3 pm (UTC+1) we will play together!
As you know playing Promptables is way more fun if you can challenge human players. Therefore we'll have a big play-together session this Saturday. If you're lucky you can not just duel with other players, but also fight the devs themselves.
Everything you need to join is having the demo installed and ready to play. Just start the game and join the fun.
If you're interested in talking with other players, join us on discord. Maybe you'll get some ideas how to design more interesting attack prompts beforehand.
It is still possible to join the Beta test and get a key by entering this form.
We are excited for Saturday and curious to see what attacks you will prepare!
Dear friends! The first patch for the beta is ready!
We made a few quality of life changes.
Window Mode
The game is now playable in window mode. You can activate it through the in-game options.
Additional characters for prompts
Blank spaces do not count against the character limit anymore. Now you don't have to drop them in favour of longer prompts.
Player1? Sleepy!
Within duels, the placeholders, Player1/Player2, will now be replaced with the creature names. Besides more clarity, this should add some atmosphere.
Game sound
We also added some new sounds to the game. If you pay attention, you will discover it!
Please use our in-game feedback form if you have any problems or ideas. And feel free to join our community via the SWR X Lab Discord.
Have fun prompting and duelling!
