I'm excited to announce Pocket Dinos is now in Early Access.
Enjoy a full experience of the base game, including hatching all 240 collectible dino variants across 60 unique species, completing collections, building and decorating habitats and unlocking hats!
Here's a bit more info about why Pocket Dinos is in Early Access, and what you can do to help!
Pocket Dinos is already a fully playable game, but I see Early Access as an opportunity to grow it alongside the community. My goal is to expand the game with new gameplay systems, quality of life improvements, and ideas inspired by player feedback while continuing to refine and balance the experience.
Community suggestions will play an important role in shaping future updates, helping Pocket Dinos become the best version it can be.
The current plan is for approximately 6 months. The exact timeline will depend on development progress, community feedback, and ensuring that planned features reach a quality I'm happy with before leaving Early Access.
The full version is planned to build on the existing game rather than replace it. Planned additions include new gameplay systems such as a Breeding Habitat and a larger Expedition Habitat that expands late game progression, along with more personality and interactions for dinos, additional challenge-based achievements, quality of life improvements, and features inspired by community feedback.
Save files are planned to carry forward, allowing players to continue growing the same collection throughout development.
The Early Access version is fully playable from beginning to end and already includes the complete core gameplay experience. Players can collect all 240 collectible dino variants across 60 unique species, complete collections, build habitats, decorate habitats and covers, unlock hats, earn achievements, and progress through multiple gameplay loops.
Yes. The Early Access price reflects the game's current scope, and I plan to increase the price as major content and gameplay systems are added throughout development. Players who join during Early Access will receive all future updates leading to the full release at no additional cost.
Community feedback has already played an important role in shaping Pocket Dinos throughout playtesting over the past few months, and it will continue to do so during Early Access.
I'll be actively reading bug reports, balance feedback, quality of life suggestions, and feature ideas from players on Steam and Discord. While not every suggestion will be implemented, community feedback will help guide development priorities and influence future updates as Pocket Dinos continues to grow.
Here we go with another mega update that's sure to make a few people happy - it's Achievements! This build is in preparation of the upcoming playtest so I'll be looking out for extra bugs.

Select multiple dinos in the Habitat and send them to other Habitats with ease
Switch between your Habitat books directly (top left)
Sort and Filter your collection with simpler tabs (top center)
Speed/loading improvements for each card overall
The early game feedback hinted that there wasn't much to do after purchasing your first set of dino eggs, so optional Research Potions were added!
Use Research Potions to speed up hatching, increase the chances of an egg hatching at a higher Variant and boosting the chance of hatching with Affinity
Research Potions are created every 8 hours, with each adult dino. Common dinos give 1 potion, all the way up to Legendary giving out 4 (approx 200-300 with all habitats full).
You can collect Research Points in the game world by looking for the Purple/Rainbow bottle in your Habitats

As always, thank you to the playtesters for giving great feedback and really helping me see some things I had missed! Enjoy the dinos!
This is a quick bug fix to fix a few issue, but also set some foundational pieces.
Fixed updating your Habitat name from the Cover - it now ignores Sticker controls/inputs so you can type S, R and F
Fixed starting a new game - legacy code was breaking this flow
Also added a few minor updates:
Feed Mode now has visual buttons in the Settings and Habitat (near Food and Scenery)
Additional tooltips have been added to describe the feature in more detail
Scenery control hints are now also shown in the Controls Settings menu
Thank you to all of you who gave such helpful feedback the last few days! After a lot of thinking and planning, there's been a slight change of gameplay which makes it better for all.

More dino slots = more profit = win
Look forward to more rewards soon!
Enjoy more variety when feeding your dinos with new food options including Leaves (default), Berries, Mushrooms and Bugs!
Increase your food quality with XP upgrades for faster hatching
All players will now receive 2 x Free Hatches to use on any dinos they choose. This early change allows new players to start earning fast, giving them a days head-start! Thank you to The WA Gaming Community for the helpful feedback
Tutorials have been expanded, with a few steps simplified
Help page has been updated with advanced strategies
Economy changes to scale better earlier while still keeping a challenge
As always, a huge thank you to the playtesters, who give fantastic feedback and honest opinions. Without you this game wouldn't be what it is today - and we're still early!
This update brings in the first Hat rewards for completing collections.
Hats will be a big piece of Pocket Dinos going forward, so here's an overview:
Hat as inventory rewards allow you to put them on any Dino
\ Hats will provide extras bonuses in-game such as boosting certain stats or increasing chances of events
\ In addition to Collections, Hats will be rewards for various other activities such as the upcoming Expeditions (more on that another time!)
\ Hats will also become stickers, allowing you to decorate your Habitat Covers
Various small to large improvements have been made across the game, specifically in stat-heavy UI's. It now should be faster and smoother to load various menus and Habitats.
There have been a few bigger changes across the shop such as making Habitat prices scale with your progress, Dino sell prices massively boosted to align with how much income some rarer creatures can generate, and subtle adjustments with various boosts (for balancing).
There are now 9 snippets/micro-songs in the game that play randomly between intervals, adding a bit of ambience.
This latest update (and the update before) contains a lot of small to big fixes, some structure changes and a few fun additions! First up - what's the big stuff?
You requested, I listened! Now you can click and drag on any Dino or Egg to drag them around and drop them around the Habitat. Put them where you want or make it easier to feed the Eggs.
Early on I made a decision to force eggs to hatch before being able to move them around. But now with various Affinity bonuses impacting XP and Hatch Speed it makes sense to allow Eggs to switch Habitats before they hatch. So enjoy moving that Legendary into a Hatch bonus-heavy Habitat!
When Affinity was first introduced it was simply a flat boost per Dino in the matching Habitat with no visuals. Now, its a bit more nuanced, and has bright visuals to boot! This will not only make your Habitats shine, but also make it easier to put Dinos into their matching Habitat without needing to open their stats.
Shop now responds to changes in your money, and things you couldn't afford before should be available as soon as you have enough - without needing to close and reopen
Fixed Affinity being shown as 0% when it's actually a decimal
Fixed Income Sorting
Thank you so much to the awesome playtesters for giving deep feedback and helping to shape this game.
Hi all,
This latest update brings a few key improvements and optimisations that will make the game feel better to play!
This now defaults to 60 FPS to make your game run better, but can be adjusted back to Unlimited if wanted.
If you'd like to keep a floating window of the game open at all times you can now do this in the settings.
In addition to the tutorial, the Help area has been updated to include some basic and advanced help items. This is still a work in progress.
Collections were originally managed by Variant (Normal, Tinted, Shiny and Rainbow). While this worked well, it made more sense to switch it to per Dino pack display (as that's how you buy packs anyway). So now each tab holds all of the same Dinos, with the 4 Variants side by side.
Font outlines and shadows are now more prominent/intentional
Various counts were not updating during play, including updating the "claim" buttons in the Collection when unlocking a new Dino while open.
Tutorial cards now have individual close buttons
Wording changes for some settings in the Options
Various layout and positioning changes for various menu items
Limited custom names to basic alphabet and numbers
