Hi everyone!
Thank you for your patience while waiting for the update! We’ve decided to release one more smaller update before the major politics update we’re currently working on.
The changes to the political system forced us to rethink many of the connections and interactions between characters. Since blackmail is an inseparable part of politics, we decided to expand this side of the game as well.
Previously, loyal characters and characters controlled through blackmail were treated as essentially the same thing. Starting with this update, they are now two separate character states:
Loyal characters have the maximum loyalty level of 5 out of 5.
Puppets are characters you have forced into submission using dirt on them.
Loyal characters will continue to work the same way they did before. They can support your laws, vote in your favor, lend you money, and carry out actions that less loyal characters would normally refuse.
Puppets can be just as useful as loyal allies, but there is one major difference.
A loyal character helps you willingly. A puppet obeys you out of fear.
After a successful blackmail attempt, the character’s loyalty toward you will drop to zero. They may follow your orders, but they certainly won’t be happy about it.
Every piece of dirt you uncover now has a strength level from 1 to 5.
This strength affects two things:
the chance that the blackmail attempt will succeed;
how long the character will remain under your control.
The stronger the dirt, the better your chances of forcing the character to do what you want, and the longer they will remain your puppet.
However, you won’t be able to uncover dirt on the same character forever. Each time you find something on them, the chance of finding more will decrease.
Even strong dirt does not guarantee success.
The target’s reputation now plays an important role. A character with an excellent reputation has much more to lose, which makes the threat of exposure far more dangerous to them.
A character with an already ruined reputation may barely care. Someone with nothing left to lose is much harder to control.
This is something you’ll need to consider before choosing your next puppet.
Every favor performed by a puppet reduces the remaining strength of the dirt being used against them.
Over time, the character becomes less afraid of your threats and your control begins to weaken. Once the dirt’s strength reaches zero, the puppet will stop obeying you and become an open enemy.
Their inner circle will also learn about your manipulation, causing connected characters to lose loyalty toward you.
This means puppets cannot be used carelessly. Sometimes one final favor may not be worth the consequences that follow.
You can stop the blackmail at any time and release a puppet from your control.
Don’t expect their loyalty to immediately return to its previous level. Still, ending the blackmail voluntarily may help you avoid open hostility and more serious consequences.
The new system creates several ways to use puppets effectively. We’ll leave those for you to discover.
But ordinary loyalty should not be underestimated.
A good friend can do almost as much for you as a frightened puppet, without the risk of betrayal, open hostility, or losing the loyalty of everyone around them.
The choice is now yours: spend time building a genuine relationship, or gain control quickly and deal with the consequences later.

Hello everyone!
This is an interim technical update, released while we continue preparing the previously announced large update focused on politics and presidential elections.
The current update introduces changes to the effect of advertising for companies. The amount of advertising purchased now directly affects demand for goods and services for all companies. At the same time, the price of advertising relative to its effectiveness increases non-linearly.
In addition, this update fixes many issues found by the community over the past couple of months and includes performance improvements.
Fixed an issue where company shares could sometimes not be purchased
Fixed a bug where company accident risk became 0%
Fixed a false message requiring an office or player presence when the office had already been purchased in the state
Fixed incorrect display of the player’s share count in the ambition to buy company shares
Fixed incorrect profit values and text in the voting form when changing advertising funding levels
Fixed missing minimum salary limit in CEO initiative voting to reduce salaries (effectively could reach 0)
Fixed cases where an empty law window appeared
Fixed an issue where companies disappeared from Favorites when switching between characters and companies
Fixed incorrect path arrows in the Statistics section pointing to a gear icon instead of income
Fixed an issue where displayed company profit exceeded its income
Fixed an issue with zero kompromat power shown in blackmail text
Fixed cases where blackmail demanded 0% of company shares
Fixed negative CEO salary values
Fixed incorrect changes in workforce numbers during construction accidents
Fixed various crashes
Changed the formula for calculating advertising costs and advertising effectiveness for companies
Fixed trust mechanics: being the CEO of the owning company is no longer required if the company is not owned directly by the player
Player-owned companies are now taken into account when calculating ownership percentage for cartel formation
“Monopoly Fine” moved to the Taxes and Fines category
Minor visual improvements in the Holding window
Added more detailed statistics for bank loans in the Finance window
Fixed income text in the Anti-Monopoly Law describing when a company receives a fine
Restored the ability to withdraw from registration in Congressional elections
Added 100% complete translations for French, Spanish, German, and Chinese
Performance optimizations
Right now, we continue working on a large politics update. It will include party primaries, presidential elections, and the addition of new positions such as Vice President, Secretary of State, and Cabinet members.
Each of these positions will be interactive. You will be able to contribute to their appointment and removal, and each of them will affect the economy in the late stage of the game.
This is a significant update and it takes all of our time and effort, but we are trying to deliver it as soon as possible.
Next week, we will try to slightly lift the veil and share which direction we have chosen and what exactly you will see in this update.
Thank you for staying with us and supporting us. Until the next good news!

The next update in line will be dedicated to the political part of the game - presidential elections. Currently, the game has a parliament, laws, key state officials, but there is no president who can veto any federal law and form the executive power in the country. Without him, the US political system looks incomplete.
Join the discussion about what the president should do in the game and how he should influence the gameplay.
It will be interesting to read your vision and expectations from the next update, as well as to learn your opinion on the new type of companies - media. What could be improved or added?
