Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
Yo humans, pianists and aliens 👽! 你好! We present to you some top-secret government classified updates (some juicy updates🧃, a good source of vitamin C). As usual they're heavily based on user feedback/ideas (particularly from our Discord server or emails - so thank you!):
3D Sheets Visualizer: Customizable 3D sheets notation visualizer with bouncing balls available in MIDI or MusicXML playback mode.

Several fixes (virtual loopback ports have been removed for now due to technical issues).
Do reach out on the Discord server or email [email protected] for feedback or concerns - every feedback is taken very seriously.
Smell ya later, TheAlanski@
Yo! 你好! Updates, as usual they're heavily based on user feedback/ideas (particularly from our Discord server or emails - so thank you!):

Velocity Colors: You can set colors that are dependent on the velocity via Settings > Color.
Loop Range improvements:
Horizontal line (draggable) shown over the notebeams.
Loop Range presets added.

你好! Updates, as usual they're heavily based on user feedback/ideas (particularly from our Discord server or emails - so thank you!):
Scales & Arpeggios Training Mode: You can now train scales and arpeggios, and practice them. This shows suggested fingerings that are fairly common/standard.
Improved Visuals: More epic visuals. You can check out the Wind particle effects and improved Swirl in the Notebeam Addons setting under Settings > Theme.
MIDI Loopback: You can set-up new virtual MIDI ports under Settings > MIDI.
ASIO: You can output the audio to ASIO for lower latency if you have ASIO set up. This feature is in BETA.
Auto-fit song to smaller keyboards on song load: Both Falling Notes and QWERTY practice modes have a checkbox (on by default) that will convert any song to fit on smaller keyboards as soon as you load the song. This will fit to the visible keyboard. That way, you can play on smaller keyboards - even 25-key keyboards.
Improved SoundFont UI: Soundfonts are now favoritable. The secondary dual SoundFont is much easier to select.
Smaller changes:
Added England, Scotland and Ireland flags.
Improved Loop Range UI.
Notebeam Addons show even if you set "None" as the Notebeam.

Warning shown to users about breaking rules the first time they use the chat.
Small fixes.
Other notes:
Very appreciate Shevarr's detailed review, and is now featured on our Steam store page. Big thanks to everyone's support and it warms our heart reading these reviews/feedback - it means a lot!
Mod applications here - though there's no real deadline, they will take a long time for us to review and we'll slowly promote from Trial Mod to a more permanent role after careful review.
Do reach out on the Discord server or email [email protected] for feedback or concerns - every feedback is taken very seriously.
Thank you, TheAlanski@

Downward Notebeam Direction During Live Play: Thanks angel.at.an.angle@ for the idea.
Video Player: Load local video files in a window. Thanks Playmaker@ for the feedback.
Auto-detection: Though not strictly against rules, some players use third-party programs to play piano for them in multiplayer and pretend to be experts at piano. Better detection of these has been added, in addition to detecting virtual piano input (shown as VIRTUAL, which may infer they are using a virtual piano instead of a real one). Autoing that is using PianoGlow's features will show as "AUTO", while autoing using third-party shows as "AUTO (DETECTED)". Thanks Zanubis@ and noakopiano@ for the ideas/feedback.
Please note that it's impossible to detect all methods of auto-ing, hence this is just basic detection - it goes with the popular saying: "Locks are for honest people".
Smaller Changes:
You can now jump to a specific page via text field input in the QWERTY Library, instead of just clicking on the page buttons. Thanks whiteout1337_@ for the idea.
While in multiplayer mode, you can now access both QWERTY typing and Word Typing better. Thanks yusuf@ for the feedback.

Voice Chat: Now in Multiplayer (push to talk). Thanks MarleyOnAPiano@ for the idea.
Auto-conversion of keyboard layouts: Because some users have different keyboard layouts to QWERTY, auto-conversion of QWERTY library sheets will be done to match the user's keyboard layout, opt-out in Settings > QWERTY. Thanks Werefox@ for the feedback about this.
Loop Range Memory: The game will remember the loop range for each specific music (even the ones you uploaded, or from the library, and even if you restart the app). Loop Range is also now available on QWERTY typing mode.
Shift/CTRL Assistant: When a note is not there in your notepad (or QWERTY Typing Mode) and you pressed shift, the assistant can ignore the shift automatically, and it works the other way round if you didn't press shift. This can boost accuracy and helps makes pieces easier. Available in Settings > QWERTY > Shift/CTRL Assistant. Thanks Sxronxploits@ for the idea.
Custom Cursors & Trails: Now in the shop, thanks mike for the idea. Additionally, players will get gem rewards for playing more, from the rewards tab in the shop.

你好! Updates, as usual they're heavily based on user feedback/ideas (particularly from our Discord server or emails - so thank you!):
Word Typing Mode: New mode. This unlocks at 1000 lifetime score of the QWERTY typing mode (mostly to avoid confusing players of thinking it's the QWERTY mode when it's a different mode). You can attach a song to the word typing mode. Practice your touch-typing skills here!
Auto Piano Shifting: When you select the "AUTO" setting after setting a smaller piano e.g. 61 key piano, or 25 key piano etc, whenever you press a note on your MIDI piano that's out of range of the visible piano on the app, the app will automatically shift the lowest note of the piano to fit that note in. In other words, when you press the lowest/highest note in-game, the piano will automatically shift to fit those notes. Thanks to the person from China who emailed [email protected] about this idea.
Hide UI: More settings to hide more of the UI, including the top-right buttons.

Recently there have been a few users who got 0X11C7 error when launching the app, preventing them from playing certain games on Steam. Some users found it helpful to disable Smart App Control. This is done by going to Settings → Privacy & Security → Windows Security → App & browser control, and disable Smart App Control.
Fixes on lag and other issues - users have been compensated with gems.
OCR recognition for image QWERTY sheets.
Tuning setting e.g. 440Hz is the default
PianoGlow has undergone a massive update and revamp, heavily based on user feedback (particularly from our Discord server).
The main updates are:
Calendar - keep track of daily stats of when you played.
Now available on the browser - you can now play via the web BUT it's recommended to play the downloaded version on Steam for the most features and optimal performance. The demo version will be moved to the browser and removed from Steam later.
Sheet Music notation generated for MIDI files or MusicXML, perfect for Falling Notes Mode or standard playback.
AI Fingering (BETA) - this is not yet perfected, this will require some feedback.
More username effects such as animated shakes, icons and glows.
Language support (BETA) - supports more languages, such as Chinese (Simplified) and Russian.
Huge UI revamp - the UI has been reworked.
Improved MIDI recorder - now the MIDI recorder is always running in the background, you can clear the recording or save it, this makes it easier to not miss out on a recording.
Cosmic & vortex background.
And much more!
For ideas or concerns, do reach out on the Discord server or email [email protected].

Auto-restart option.
Points shop (the animated profile frame is exclusive to the points shop): http://pianoglow.com/points
Trading cards: you get up to a limit of 8, one for each 30m of playtime, which can be used to unlock backgrounds and emojis.
Playtime Counter: shows near the note counter so you can better track practice hours
/pg Discord commands, some staff commands too for banning, etc.
New unique marketing techniques will gradually ramp up and be applied on April 2026 for a larger growth of users. PianoGlow has been steadily growing since its release but the best marketing methods will later be tested on April 2026 to minimize risk (testing server load and whether multiplayer users will be malicious/spam etc). Thanks for your patience as I know the community really desires more users for multiplayer. Look forward to next month's batch of updates! ~TheAlanski
Big updates to start the new year (as usual heavily-based on user ideas mostly from PianoGlow's Discord server):
Rhythm Training Mode: Train using rhythm, thanks @Nyx for the idea
Improved Visuals: Ocean notebeam style, flare light on piano keys and ocean-style effect on piano key presses. Some of the theme settings as a result has been reset for some users. The ocean theme looks best with dark backgrounds for now (either low background opacity or no background).
Mobile releases/updates:
Android version has released! With fixes and lower file size.
iOS will be updated in a few days with these updates.
Website improved with guides (www.pianoglow.com): You can also right-click on the game modes to open these guides. Thanks @Skillex and a few users suggesting guides.
Better Falling Notes - Notebeam, Improved Text Placement: Line guides, forced no Babel, clearer text while practicing, etc. Thanks @Kor who emailed me these ideas.
Support smaller keyboards:
Under Piano > Settings > Num Keys To Show you can now show 25/32/37 keys.
In QWERTY Type Mode you can click "Fit Notes To Keyboard" which automatically adjusts the QWERTY sheets to fit with these notes.
In the play icon (F2) you can also upload a MIDI and convert the notes to fit a smaller keyboard.
Thanks @Kor who emailed me feedback and ideas about this.
\: Auto-mode in the QWERTY type test mode to preview the notes in the game mode. Also renamed the difficulty setting to something more intuitive as it was not obvious. Thanks @andrii_gora for the ideas.
Setting Presets:
At the bottom-right corner of the settings page, you can set and rename up to 10 setting presets. Thanks @imuradi for the idea!
Appreciate the positive Steam reviews as it helps - the best reviews have been highlighted in PianoGlow's Steam Store Page!
Happy new year! 新年快乐! С Новым Годом). May the new year 2026 bring happiness, good progress in life and be full of great piano experiences and practice!
Best, TheAlanski@
你好! Hello and привет, as usual, heavily-based on user ideas (suggested in the Discord server):
Sheet Notation & Falling Notes Preview: now shown on the QWERTY typing test mode, so it's now almost an all-in-one mode. You can toggle the visibility of any of them.
New PianoGlow website: https://pianoglow.com is a new website! A lightweight/simplified version of QWERTY piano can be directly played from your browser on that website, so you can practice on-the-go!
Searchable Settings: You can now search particular settings by the name of the setting.
Merry Christmas: Snow theme-addon and a small achievement for opening the app during the Christmas season.
Do-Re-Mi notation: Available under Settings > Piano. Thanks orbitacg@ and noirstx@ for the ideas!
QWERTY Velocity vs Pitch curve: vary the velocity of QWERTY depending on the pitch. Thanks xurcs@ for the idea.
Better sheet notation: The treble & bass staff will now display it as one condensed chord, instead of sometimes splitting into two.
Semi-auto controls: Setting to allow any key instead of \. Thanks Jade Williamson who emailed me this idea.
Invert MIDI device pitch: a fun setting to invert the pitch of piano MIDI devices, so pressing a high note makes it low, and a low note makes it high.
Smaller changes: A lot of bugs were fixed, you can adjust the font-size for the custom title/watermark text and more random gradient buttons in the themes.
Appreciate the positive Steam reviews as it helps a lot - a few reviews have been highlighted in PianoGlow's Steam Store Page!
Best, TheAlanski@
你好! Привет! Happy Halloween! Boo! Don't get too scared 🦇🕷️🎃👻💀.
Halloween Achievement - unlock a secret Halloween achievement if you open PianoGlow during the Halloween season.
In the spirit of Halloween, a new blood overlay, available in Settings > Theme > Theme Add-ons
Minor bug fixes.
Thank you! TheAlanski@
你好! Yo yo whaddup, as usual, heavily-based on user ideas (suggested in the Discord server):
MIDI Velocity Curve: You can now customize the velocity of your digital piano. Thanks Shinzui@ for the idea.
Favorite Sheet Library: You can now favorite QWERTY sheet music in the library by clicking on the star icon. Thanks bobberyross@ for the idea.
Microphone To Midi (Inaccurate): You can use a microphone to try convert to MIDI in real-time, but this is very inaccurate. This uses a TFLite model from the Magenta GitHub repository. It is released for early testing as it's not good yet.
Typing Test Mode Improvements:
Easier mode - now supports a config where you can enter a number and this is the number of notes required for you to press the chord (and the rest of the chord is pressed automatically). Thanks Hyrus@ for the idea.
MIDI keyboard input now works for the type test mode - thanks Runebill for the idea. The keyboard is also highlighted.
Thank you for the support and positive Steam reviews as it helps a lot - some reviews have been highlighted in PianoGlow's Steam Store Page!
Best, TheAlanski@
Привет! A few updates!
MIDI Workshop: Share and download MIDI files in the Steam workshop! This is accessed via the Workshop button within the Library page.
Multiplayer Solo Mode: Quick toggle to hide other player's notes so you can practice solo in multiplayer (but keep other player's as company). When it's on, you will have "muted/hidden others" next to your name in the list of players in the room. This let's you focus on your practice more while you're waiting on the queue mode.
Security-update (Unity3D): Earlier today, Unity reported a security vulnerability where games built on older versions of Unity were affected. In response to this, PianoGlow has been patched containing the latest version of Unity (that contains the fix). Although it is very unlikely the vulnerability has affected PianoGlow with how PianoGlow is created/used, it has been re-built with the fix just in case. Read more about it at https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/1nwxg1u/unity_has_found_a_security_vulnerability_that_has/ where you can be a bit more wary of running older games that are also made in Unity3D as administrator.
Thank you! TheAlanski@
A big большой batch of updates - as usual most ideas are heavily based on user-feedback:
Babel Themes: Many new effects such as black holes and holographic prisms. Type in any random word and it'll generate customization based on that word - discover new secret words!
AI MIDI Convert: uses AI (uses Transkun V2 code) to convert an mp3/wav to a MIDI file, accessible near the record button. Thank you noakopiano@ and LioK@ for the deep research & insights around AI midi conversion solutions and which ones are best/pros/cons etc.
Total & Daily Active Practice Time:
Unlike the total playtime, active practice time only takes into account the time when you are actively pressing notes or answering questions on game modes. Thanks Chelovedus@ for the idea.
Daily Quest: Each day you practice 15 minutes, you get coins - thanks 7vlw@ & noakopiano@ for the quest ideas.
Hand Separation:
Falling notes: As long as the MIDI file contains hand/track data, you can now choose which hand to practice and the colors can also be adjusted for each hand. Thanks Asijsky0bchodnik@ for the idea.
Live-play: the hand color + black key color can be customized during live-play. Thanks noakopiano@ for the idea.
Load/Save PNG images on the notepad: Thanks paul0915@ for the idea.
Predictive Velocity: A QWERTY velocity setting, which guesses the dynamics based on the tempo you are playing at, it's in early testing and will need improvement. Thanks Sxronxploits@ for the idea.
Reset All Settings Button: thanks yzoqnx@ for the idea.
9:16 vertical resolutions: perfect for social media or livestreams.
Smaller changes:
Typing Test Restarts: - Restarts automatically when complete, thanks MMynu@ for the idea.
Bug fixes: e.g. Wooting hanging keys, application hanging on quit, slightly reduced audio latency. Thank you to 7vlw@ and xurcs@ for the detailed bug reports.
Steam Total Playtime Achievements + Babel Achievements!
PianoGlow reached a cap of 100 achievements. I can't add more than 100 achievements until the game becomes more popular (in case you're curious, Steam only allows popular games to have more than 100 achievements, along with other features such as trading cards and custom profile backgrounds, this might take a few years - Steam automatically checks the games several times a day and provides this to popular games).
Thank you!
TheAlanski@
Lots of updates - as usual PianoGlow is heavily based on user feedback:
Falling Notes Mode - adjustable time: You can adjust the time in the Falling Notes game mode and also load/save checkpoints to practice specific sections more. Thanks @jax05282 for the idea.
Circle Of Fifths - Interactive: You can hover on the Circle of Fifths to preview the triad chord (left/right click to play the triad or 7th respectively). It can be hidden under Settings > Show/Hide. This is fundamental and helpful for new beginners, which is why it's enabled by default so they know it exists (but it can be disabled).
SoundFont Presets - As a minority of SoundFont files contain more than one preset (sometimes referred to as instruments), you can now access these individual presets. Thanks @7vlw for the idea.
Customize Glow/Particles: You can now customize the glow of the note beams which will improve visibility (thanks @Wh0ze for suggesting this idea) and remove the particle effects (thank you @Shoeb for the idea).
SoundFont Creator: A very simple SoundFont creator has been added if you want to make your own SoundFonts.
Tip Sent/Received Achievements: +19 tip achievements added and fixed, given when you send/receive coins in multiplayer.
Wooting Improvements: The algorithms on the Wooting analog keyboards on inferring velocity has been improved but will improve again later after further testing.
Several new SoundFonts (in the Funny category): Thanks to KreativeKorp for providing permission in adding several of these SoundFont files in.
Fixed showing misleading triads & improved chord identifier: in the treble/bass staff, fixed misleading notes that showed when in conjuction with the chord identifier (e.g. now shows Eb G Bb instead of D# G A#) for the Eb triad. Thanks @Nyx for the consultation and his music knowledge!
Record With Transpose: Option when recording MIDI to record the note transposed or the note pressed. Thanks @noakopiano for the idea.
Ultra-wide HD monitor support: UI better fits e.g. 3440x1440. Thanks @HeRmEtIkA for reporting this issue.
Minor updates/fixes: Rendering settings shown before saving video + render FPS setting. Access Falling Notes Game Mode in the "Play" in addition to the "Game Modes" menu. Discord Presence temporarily disabled to see if it was a major cause of crashes. Daily Reward now is awarded even if you don't start the chat (as long as the game successfully connects - thanks @Ayien for the bug report).
Thank you for the support and I hope to code more updates on the 1st of next month, - TheAlanski@
Lots of updates - as usual PianoGlow is heavily based on user feedback:
Ear Chord Training: - identify the type of chord e.g. Major 7th, Augmented 7th 2nd Inversion, etc. Thanks Nyx@ for the idea & insights about this!
MIDI Input devices: now selectable for customization. Thanks aussie2@ for the idea.
MIDI Output devices. Thanks noakopiano@ for the idea.
More stats: Times Changed Soundfont, Audio Saved, Midi Loaded etc. Also thanks @7vlw for the idea of Total Playtime Hours and Coin Earning related stats.
Leaderboards: for some of these new stats including Total Steam Playtime (thanks @7vlw and Sxronxploits@ for the ideas related to leaderboards). A tip tax (10%) is added so that tipping stats/leaderboards are more meaningful. Some stats and leaderboards are new and will be refreshed once you open the app.
Clickable player profiles: - view their Soundfont & Reverb settings & some stats in multiplayer! You can also click on the chat names for this.
61 and 49 piano keys: under Settings > Piano. Defaults to 88. Thanks Wh0ze@ for the idea.
PDF Navigation Improved: PGUP/PGDN shortcut, "Fit To Page Height" button near the zoom. This is shared with the notepad's page shortcuts (P.S. it was changed from INS/DEL and swapped with the volume shortcuts). Thanks Nyx@ for the idea.
+38 more achievements (now totalling 70): Times Opened Settings, Sheet Music Training Achievements, Funny Ones like "Commitment Issues" achievement if you changed your SoundFont too often, Loading Or Saving Audio, and more!
In-game ban system: includes chat bans + ban-timers/audit-log. Fortunately as of now, in-game users were well-behaved such that it wasn't ever needed since multiplayer was released *knocks on wood*.
Bug fixes: including some types of crashes, alt velocity fix. Thanks noakopiano@ & 7vlw@ for the detailed reports. I will monitor the logs further for crashes - these will be the highest priority bugs to fix!
Miscellaneous updates: Improved Help/About Page, Store Page Small Adjustments (highlighted a user's review on the store homepage), Room Name in the browse lobby list takes on the special effects/gradient of the host.
Continuous development in Early Access: price increased. Wishlist to be notified of the regular discounts and email [email protected] if you have any enquiries!
Mac OSX Removal: Mac OSX users will later be automatically refunded because Mac OSX support will be later removed. This is because Mac OSX users account for ~2% of PianoGlow users and more focus can be provided for the ~98% of Windows users. Additionally developing on Mac OSX is harder. For complaints regarding this, email [email protected].
Vision: PianoGlow's goal is to be a fun all-in-one piano app, i.e. online multiplayer game (jam with others, take turns playing or teach someone remotely, stats & leaderboards, community), MIDI & QWERTY game modes (can be used to supplement learning/training but not replace it) and high-quality unique visualizations (render options for social media or livestreaming).
Can't promise as things usually pivot, but a brief overview of what might be next:
The Discord's #idea-forums (First Priority): this is the detailed roadmap (I'm not keen on a duplicate/explicit roadmaps as things pivot and I like keeping the process lightweight/improvized and heavily influenced by continuous user feedback, the threads here are organized here with tags of which ones are complete and can sort by recent activity). Many are prioritized based on how beneficial it is to the users relative to how difficult/fun I find coding it and for now, niche features affecting a small number of users are usually (not always) less priority e.g. ear training was used only by < 5 % of users but can still be important if those 4-5% use the app primarily for ear training (tracked via Achievement stats). This is a good forum as real direct user needs/complaints on the Discord forums are extremely important to address - feel free to comment/bump your favorite ideas and debate there. Every idea is guaranteed to be read, but some might not be commented or commented later (because some are difficult requiring much more time for thought/shower-thoughts/testing/user-comments to cook it or no extra input needed).
Boost Multiplayer Activity: As some users explicitly wanted more players online, some multiplayer daily quests may be coded in later to boost multiplayer activity but careful consideration has to be made to prevent the impacts of cheating/botting. Also, a new experimental method #1 might be tested around Q4 2025 to gain users, and depending on the results, a different experimental method #2 later tested in gaining users in 2026. Though, it is more ideal and far easier to gain users after Early Access is over (because the Early Access badge does deter some users and the game will improve by then).
Interesting visual improvements: Ideas included using emotion/key/chords, different visuals than vertical notebeams (clouds, rain, explosions, weather depending on mood etc) and more customization etc. It's impactful and not niche (impacting every user). I tried to code this a few months ago but was delayed due to both the difficulty and new critical feedback on #idea-forums from users that keep coming up.
Thank you! - TheAlanski@
Updates:
Special name effects in multiplayer, such as glitter, laser, sparks, butterfly etc. These are available at the shop by clicking on the coins icon.
Daily rewards of in-game currency, with streaks!
Tipping - you can now tip/give coins to other users in the multiplayer lobby, perfect when you appreciate their playing.
ALT shortcuts for velocity, enabled in `Settings > QWERTY Velocity`.
Option to have private chatroom in case you want more privacy than the default global chat.
Smaller changes: Generate Random Gradient, Toggle Hide Game Mode UI, Toggle Hide Multiplayer Inputs, Game Mode Button UI changes, several fixes including the love game modes and images not fully showing on notepad.
Thank you for your support! ~ @TheAlanski
Updates:
Improved multiplayer: it now has a global chatroom, when the hosts leaves a room it will assign a new host instead of deleting the room. Adjust volume of each individual player. 24/7 room in queue mode where you take turns playing. New button to let you assign a new host. Disconnection issues have mostly been resolved and multiplayer is now more stable. Multiplayer was probably the hardest feature I've coded yet on PianoGlow (maybe over 80-100 hours I've lost track...).
Library: thank you Arijan for providing an API to PianoGlow for https://vp-sheets.arijan.dev/. PianoGlow now integrates QWERTY sheets there where you can directly load a sheet into your notepad. The transposes are automatically detected (new cycle shortcut: press TAB to cycle through each of the auto-detected transposes) - the first transpose can optionally be automatically toggled via a checkbox near the Library.
Double Soundfont: You can apply two Soundfonts simultaneously and choose the range to apply it to, e.g. piano in the low part while having violin for the high notes is a common arrangement.
Show/hide navigation: Show/hide navigation buttons settings now added.
Minor changes: Fix ghosting on TAB + number shortcut. CTRL + left-click can also reset settings instead of just right-clicking. More characters supported such as common Chinese characters.
Thank you for your support! ~ @TheAlanski
Updates:
Smart auto-detection/changing for transpose & BPM added for auto-players in the notepad. This will detect things like "transposition is 10" in the notepad. During QWERTY auto-playing, it will automatically update the transpose and BPM if set.
Auto-skipping comments. A comment is one that's between an asterisk or if the code thinks it's a comment (this is done by checking for specific phrases/common-words for now).
Ear Training Interval Selection: select the exact intervals you want to train with, e.g. -2 to 2 for beginners, or -12 to 12.
Transpose is now free in demo.
As game is in Early Access development, there is a price increase. Wishlist the game to take into account future discounts or purchase it at the full-price to support development further!
PDF Viewer.
UI improvements particularly the settings.
Synchronize Pedal (Settings > Controls) to share Midi & QWERTY pedal together (e.g. this is useful if you don't have a pedal you can use your computer pedal and vice versa)
Notepad Dark/Light Theme Toggle
Notepad Auto setting to add delay to new lines (by default there's no delay).
Thank you for your support! ~ @TheAlanski
