13 Willow Street
As with all our reworked maps, 13 Willow Street will retain its overall original layout with a few minor changes. The core of these reworks has always been bringing the visuals up to our standards while letting each location speak for itself. As much as we love the original versions of these maps, giving them their own identities and stories has been something we’ve always wanted to achieve and we’re excited that we’ve been able to. Following 6 Tanglewood Drive, we know that 13 Willow Street holds a special place in a Ghost Hunter’s heart. We’ve kept that at the forefront while developing the rework, making sure that those first few steps inside feel new but familiar, and entice you to explore during each and every contract.Check out the screenshots below for a look inside 13 Willow Street.13 Willow Street will launch alongside the Quality of Life update on July 21st, 2026 for all platforms. Stay tuned to our social channels and our official Discord server for exact release timings. As is tradition with a new map, a new ID Card and Badge will be available upon completion of the map’s challenge. By correctly identifying 50 ghosts (and surviving) Ghost Hunters will earn the Sun Seeker set, as seen below.
We’ll also be running a new Twitch Drops campaign for the first week after launch. Players will be able to earn the animated and static versions of the Cool Cat ID Card and Badge between 21st July - 28th July by watching a total of 2 hours of Phasmophobia streams.
The animated version will be exclusively available via Kinetic Games Partner channels.
We’re looking forward to getting this update out to you next week and will be keeping an eye on every bit of feedback sent to us on social, in Discord or otherwise.

Welcome back, Ghost Hunters.
Over the last month and a half, we’ve been reading the discussions about Phasmophobia across so many different channels and taking note of the biggest issues, points of concern, questions and more. We are sorry it’s taken a while to respond, but we wanted to make sure that when we did, we had something of substance for you. Hopefully today, with our updated Roadmap and information on what’s to come to Phasmophobia, we can start to build back your trust and have meaningful conversations around the game we all care so deeply about. We’ll go in to more detail on everything in this blog, but for those of you that would rather just have the headlines, here we go:The rework of 13 Willow Street will launch July 21st, 2026 alongside a Quality of Life update.
A further Quality of Life update will launch in August 2026.
Our upgrade to Unity 6 will take place in October 2026.
An additional Player Character update will launch in November, bringing with it improved animations, character models, UI, more clothing and customisation options.
Phasmophobia 1.0, as well as our next new map, will now launch in 2027.
Alongside these various updates, you can expect to see more regular Development Previews that’ll take you deeper into what they’ll contain and the improvements they’ll bring to Phasmophobia.
You may notice that a few things have been removed from the Roadmap for 2026, such as Phasmophobia 1.0 and our new map. While we’ll talk more about the 1.0 delay further down in this blog, we want to reassure you that a new map will be coming to Phasmophobia, just a little later than planned. For now, let’s go into a little detail on the first update - bringing with it the reworked 13 Willow Street. Willow UpdateOur 13 Willow Street Rework update will launch on 21st July, 2026, bringing with it the reworked map and the first of our Quality of Life updates. Before we get into the second part, let’s take a look at the new 13 Willow Street. As with our rework on 6 Tanglewood Drive, this new version of 13 Willow Street retains an almost identical layout to the location currently in-game but features redesigned rooms, new theming and plenty of new interactions and objects to discover. 13 Willow Street will continue our approach to storytelling in Phasmophobia too, with a story waiting to be pieced together. We can’t wait to hear your theories and thoughts.
Quality of Life Updates Our Quality of Life updates this year will focus on bug fixes, gameplay improvements and the overall stability and playability of the game. Due to the hundreds of bug fixes, changes and new features currently planned for release, we will be releasing two separate Quality of Life updates - the first with the Willow launch and the second in August 2026. These updates have been built off the back of the feedback we’ve received since the launch of the Player Character Update, as well as changes we’ve wanted to implement for a long time. We’ll provide full patch notes and details at release of the updates, but here’s a few details on some of the improvements:New keybinds for pressing 1,2,3 and 4 for the individual inventory slots for keyboard and mouse only.
FOV adjustments for held items to increase item visibility.
Eye Adaptation option for console players.
Moving the Truck closer to map entrances on Prison and Brownstone High School.
Restricted map variants for Point Hope, Brownstone High School and Prison.
VR improvements; equipment usability changes, belt improvements, character movement and more.
The legacy badge screen will be available in the customisation shop to allow you to customise it whenever you want to.
The collected bone will show in the Journal.
The ghost type can be selected as a custom difficulty option.
The zoom feature in the Customisation Shop will now zoom in on the selected area.
Ability to raise the Watch while carrying equipment.
Improvements to character animations; leg movements, appearance changes when dead.
Equipment switching animation speed increases including making opening and closing the journal almost instant.
Improvements to photo detection as well as showing an indicator for what you are taking a photo of, similar to video cameras.
Equipment can be instantly used, allowing the animation to be skipped.
These two Quality of Life updates will address most of the issues players are encountering, and aim for them to drastically improve the state of Phasmophobia. Other planned updates, such as our move to Unity 6 later in the year, will further improve the stability and performance of the game.
Phasmophobia 1.0 Launches 2027Earlier this year, we committed to launching Phasmophobia 1.0 at the end of 2026. Now, following a review of our plans and internal processes, we’re making the decision to move the release of 1.0 to the second half of 2027. The game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 at the same time too.We know this will come as a disappointment to many, but this is the right decision to ensure we deliver the 1.0 version of Phasmophobia that is true to our vision, high quality standards and provides the experience for players that we’ve always wanted to achieve. We’re not going to stay quiet though. Beginning in 2027 we’ll be bringing you with us during development through regular streams and other means; showcasing our work, sharing some of the secrets of Phasmophobia 1.0 and much more. While we won’t spoil all of the surprises, we want to be as visible as possible for you, hopefully rebuilding the trust that we’ve understandably lost this year. That said, let’s not wait until the new year to share something.Below is our first look at the improved model for Patient 07, a fan-favourite who - along with all of our ghost models - is getting a much needed glow up in 1.0.All of our ghost models will be given a new lease of life(?) with this visual upgrade, but will also be providing their own unique experiences for players. What that entails exactly is something we’ll go into more detail with down the line, but we look forward to sharing that with you when we’re ready to.
Another aspect of 1.0 we want to reveal today is the introduction of Conduits. Replacing the Bone as a collectable during each contract, these are unique items paired with a particular ghost model.
A Conduit is an item that ties a ghost to our world, preventing them from moving on. These items will provide new lore to the ghost and the overall world of Phasmophobia.Perhaps you can piece together some tidbits already?Rest of the Year
We’ve focused on some of this year’s major updates for Phasmophobia, but as you can see, the Roadmap features more than just these. Following on from our two Quality of Life updates, we’ll be making the jump up to Unity 6 in October. This Unity 6 update will provide some crucial stability updates as well as a brand new lighting system for Phasmophobia. We’ll also be implementing further accessibility options such as preferences for colour blind players as well as further quality of life improvements and bug fixes. We’ll dive deeper into these changes in a Development Preview later this year, so please do keep an eye out for that. Our second Player Character update will arrive in November, bringing with it brand new customisation options and cosmetics, an improved Shop UI as well as new animations and graphical improvements for our character models in-game, giving each character much more life and personality than is currently available. Elsewhere, we’ll see the return of Crimson Eye and Winter’s Jest (sans leaderboards) as well as our third map rework of the year, 42 Edgefield Road. Finally, we’re also planning one extra content update for the game later in 2026 that’ll bring with it changes to our Weekly Challenges ,new Voice Recognition features and more. Of course, at the heart of this update is the ability to customise your player character in-game. After a long wait, the Customisation shop in the lobby is finally open for business. While the shop is full of options at launch, you can look forward to more items being added in future updates and Twitch Drops - such as the below High Priestess T-shirt drop that'll be starting with the launch of the update.

There is plenty to explore and experience once the update launches and we can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the changes to the game. Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. We have some news for you. Today we’re excited to announce that our reworked 6 Tanglewood Drive will be launching on 3rd March, 2026 for all platforms. While we’d like to save the majority of the changes and surprises that await you with the map launch, we want to give a little detail on the why and how we’ve decided to rework such a fan-favourite location.
As with all our previous map reworks, our aim is to bring all our original locations up to the quality we know both Phasmophobia and our team are capable of. We’ve created brand new assets, props, animations and more to populate 6 Tanglewood Drive and bring it in line with the vision we’ve always had for it.
Our approach to Tanglewood was to give it a much more ‘lived-in’ feel than the other houses in-game currently, meaning older furniture and decor, giving us a sense of who 6 Tanglewood Drive belonged to before something happened within those walls.
We’ve also begun exploring what’s possible in terms of environmental storytelling with our latest maps and these reworks. While we aren’t spilling any secrets just yet, we’re looking forward to seeing Ghost Hunters explore and perhaps piece together their own stories for what’s taken place at 6 Tanglewood Drive.
6 Tanglewood Drive was one of Phasmophobia’s first maps and we’ve learnt so much since then. We want our maps to each provide a unique gameplay experience; different room layouts, various options for players to approach any one contract, more ghost interactions. With all this in mind, we’ve approached the design of this rework with not only a profound sense of respect for the map that started it all, but with everything we as a team have learned designing newer maps such as Nell’s Diner. In this rework, it was important that we keep the core design of the house as familiar as possible. So while there aren’t any drastic layout changes (bar one we’ll talk about in a moment), the redesign has given 6 Tanglewood Drive a much richer personality introduced through new interactions and landmarks that players will notice from their first steps inside.
One area that will feel very fresh to all players is the sound of 6 Tanglewood Drive. We’ve implemented a whole host of new audio features both to existing parts of Tanglewood and new one, creating one of our most immersive maps in-game yet. There’s even a dryer jingle.
When we first revealed a look at the rework, we saw a lot of conversation around the new kitchen area and the distinct lack of looping spot. While the looping spot has indeed been removed from the kitchen area, Ghost Hunters needn’t fear - there’s still excellent locations within the walls of 6 Tanglewood Drive to loop your ghost. We chose to make this decision purely from a gameplay perspective and overall flow of the map. When you enter the new kitchen, it’ll feel much more natural and in-line with the scene we’re setting.
We knew when we announced that 6 Tanglewood Drive would be getting a rework it would be a hot topic amongst the community due to its popularity and the place it holds in player’s hearts. With the work now done on this new version, we believe we’ve only improved on what makes the map so special.
We hope you enjoy the new look when it releases on March 3rd, 2026.

Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. We’ve got some news for you.
Today, we’re excited to reveal our Roadmap for Phasmophobia for 2026 - our journey to 1.0.
This year is set to be the biggest for Phasmophobia yet, as we do the game development equivalent of crossing our I’s and T’s, exiting Early Access and releasing the full version of the game we’ve been working on for the last 6+ years. We’re pulling back the curtains on just a handful of our plans with our Roadmap, with more details to come throughout the year. Read on to find out what’s in store.Major Updates
As you can see from the Roadmap, there are several major updates we’re working towards in 2026; our Player Character update, an update to bring Phasmophobia to Unity 6, a netcode update, our launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and, of course, Phasmophobia 1.0 - bringing with it our horror rework, lore update and more. While we went into detail on our Player Character update and (a little bit of) Phasmophobia 1.0 in our most recent Development Preview, we won’t be sharing too many more details on these updates until we’re closer to launch. Stay tuned for news throughout the year. 2026 MapsIn 2026, we’ll continue our work on older Phasmophobia maps to bring them up to the standards we have set ourselves with updates to Grafton Farmhouse and Bleasdale Farmhouse. The first of these, 6 Tanglewood Drive (itself detailed in the latest Development Preview) will launch soon while 13 Willow Street will arrive later in the year. These reworks will bring with them updated visuals, slight but important gameplay/layout changes as well as a host of new assets, interactions and more. Our aim with our map reworks is always to retain everything we all love about these maps but bring them in line with our overall vision for Phasmophobia, which we believe we achieved with last year’s reworks and are set to with these. We’ll also be releasing another new map in 2026. Following Nell’s Diner in 2025, this new map will bring a new style of location to the game. But that’s enough detail for now. EventsFinally, we’re looking forward to another year of great in-game community events. Cursed Hollow, Crimson Eye and Winter’s Jest will all return at similar times throughout 2026 bringing with them another chance to work together and on your own to earn rewards and upgrade your trophy. This year however, we’ll be adding a new limited-time event to the game. While we can’t share what exactly this event is right now, we can promise you it’s going to be worth the wait. Of course, this is just an overview of what we have planned throughout 2026 for Phasmophobia, with plenty more waiting in the wings. As always, stay tuned to our social channels, official Discord server and blog for the latest news and updates on the game as well as Kinetic Games ourselves. We hope you’re looking forward to it all, Ghost Hunters.Welcome back, Ghost Hunters. We’ve got some news for you.
Today, we’re pulling back the curtain (just a little) on some of the updates coming to Phasmophobia in 2026. Next year is looking to be one of the biggest in the game’s history as we build towards launching Phasmophobia 1.0, bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2 and continue to evolve and iterate on the game. Reaching that 1.0 milestone will be a huge moment for not only for the game, but Kinetic Games and of course you, the community.
We hope you look forward to everything we have in store.
In this Development Preview, we’ll be looking at the Player Character Update, our Tanglewood Rework as well sharing a little on what Phasmophobia 1.0 will look like.
Originally, we shared that our Player Character Update would be launching in 2025. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to meet that date – but for good reason. As we saw with Chronicle earlier this year, giving the update more breathing room to evolve pays off. So while there’s a little longer to wait, we’re excited to share that we’ll be launching the Player Character Update in Q1 2026.
Of course, one of the biggest features of this update is the ability to customize your Ghost Hunter in-game with free cosmetics and different looks, however a major other part of this update is an overhaul of the player’s character itself and we wanted to focus on that today.
We’ve created brand new character models, improved animations and fine-tuned how it feels to play Phasmophobia. Our overall aim is to create the most immersive experience we can, and we believe our current player character models and animations can snap (pun intended) you out of the game with a disjointed arm there, a bendy back here. With these changes, our characters will move with more realism and present a more life-like experience for players. This update is a key part of our road to Phasmophobia 1.0, creating the most immersive experience possible - but more on that later!
Below are two screenshots showcasing our new character models that players will be able to use from the moment the update drops. As you can see, our new models present a huge leap in quality over the current in-game ones.
The other feature we wanted to highlight in today’s preview is our new animation and player movement systems that will be making their way to Phasmophobia as part of this update.
A few examples of these new animations and movements are:
- Opening and closing doors with hands.
- Equipment swapping
- Picking up/dropping/placing equipment
- Injecting Tier 3 Sanity Medication
We’ll detail the update in more depth as we get closer to it’s launch, so stay tuned.
Launching alongside the Player Character Update will be our reworked version of 6 Tanglewood Drive.
We know that the news of us reworking Tanglewood was met with a bit of trepidation but we hope that seeing the work we did with both Bleasdale and Grafton Farmhouse has reassured that these reworks are all about levelling-up the location, rather than changing anything too drastically.
When reworking Tanglewood, we wanted to make sure it provided a similar experience to the one Ghost Hunters know and love to this day while still feeling fresh and exciting. To that end, while the map layout remains very similar to what you can play in game today, the rework will feature a host of new interactions, a few small layout changes and more.
For those Ghost Hunters who fancy piecing a story together? A mystery lies behind 6 Tanglewood Drive that’s just waiting to be uncovered.
Both the reworked 6 Tanglewood Drive and our Player Character Update will be launching early next year, so stay tuned for more details on both as we get closer to their release.
While there’s plenty more up our sleeves for Phasmophobia in 2026, it’s all ultimately leading to what will be the biggest moment since we launched the game in Early Access in 2020 – Phasmophobia 1.0.
Our aim with the 1.0 launch is to be able to, as a team, look at Phasmophobia after many years of updating, iterating and evolving and know we’ve fulfilled our vision for the game. Previous updates such as Chronicle and the upcoming Player Character Update, have all gone a long way to creating the true immersive experience we know Phasmophobia is and will continue to be.
And yes, that includes what was previously known as Horror 2.0.
Our horror update will be the meatiest part of the 1.0 release and will give even the most seasoned Ghost Hunter a host of new scares and surprises. While we aren’t going to share too many details on it as we want that 1.0 release to feel as fresh and exciting as the original release did, keep an eye out for a few details throughout the year.
Phasmophobia 1.0 will launch in 2026 for all players, across all available platforms at the same time. We can’t wait to share all of this and more with you next year, Ghost Hunters. As always, stay tuned to our social channels and Discord server for the latest news and updates on all things Phasmophobia.
Happy Holidays, and happy huntin’.
Thanks,
Kinetic Games Team
