Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
This update introduces a number of improvements across the game, including upgrades to the Campaign mode, a brand new Singleplayer Campaign experience, major memory optimizations, AI improvements, and numerous bug fixes.
The Campaign mode has received a variety of improvements and bug fixes, along with an entirely new territory icon system.
Each territory now displays unique soldier icons that accurately represent which armies are present and what they are currently doing. Armies can now be shown in one of four states:
Idle
Defending
Attacking
Resting
Once a territory has been selected for attack, the defending army immediately begins preparing its defenses, while the attacking force advances into battle. After the battle concludes, the victorious army enters a resting state for one turn, temporarily preventing that territory from being selected during attack direction voting.
Persistent Battles is the singleplayer version of the Multiplayer Campaign, allowing you to fight through an entire campaign completely offline.
Campaign progress is saved between sessions, letting you continue fighting on the same battlefield for as long as you like. You can create new campaigns with your own settings, save your progress at any time, and load previous campaigns whenever you want.
For players who enjoy modding, campaigns can also be customized by editing the "MPCampaigns.json" file located in the game main directory, allowing you to create campaigns using your own selection of maps.
This update includes some of the largest memory optimizations we have made so far.
Overall system memory usage has been reduced by approximately 30 - 40%, while several major and minor memory leaks have been eliminated as well, resulting in overall significantly lower memory usage.
Video memory usage has also been improved. While these optimizations should benefit all systems, players using lower end GPUs with small amounts of VRAM should notice the biggest gains.
In addition, we have replaced several built-in post-processing effects with our own custom PostFX shaders, providing a small performance boost in GPU-bound situations.
Bots have received another round of improvements and fixes. We fixed several issues, including the infamous "hammer forever" bug and multiple spawning problems. Bots are now also capable of performing role-play animations and can even play musical instruments. AI development is ongoing, and we will continue improving bot behavior in future updates.
We updated our DLSS algorithm and also finally added FSR and FSRAA to the game. In theory FSR also supports frame generation, but for that you will have to force DX12 via Steam. (Try at your own risk, its very experimental).
We added more options for customization, such as grenade arc indicator colors and more. Check out the settings for more details.
In addition to the larger features and optimizations, this update also includes a wide range of smaller improvements throughout the game. We updated several maps, resolved a number of player and bot spawning issues, fixed various gameplay and visual bugs, and addressed numerous stability problems as well as other minor issues.

This update adds numerous smaller and larger changes to the game and focuses around quality of life, gunplay and networking improvements. While this patch might not be that fancy on the surface, it should massively help with how the game feels and plays.
There are so many smaller changes to the game that it would be pointless to list them all. Instead, here is a list of some of the more important changes coming to the game.
Massively improved fire delay on weapons when playing on server.
Improved first person aiming, bullets should no longer be absorbed by geometry that is not blocking the gun.

Improved bullet hit registration by writing an all new bullet system.
Various smaller gun and auto-fire fixes.

This update both honors the Australian and New Zealand soldiers of the First World War and expands the battlefield with new weapons, a new tank, and two community maps, alongside a wide range of improvements and fixes.
Britain receives six new ANZAC uniforms, one for each class, featuring Australian and New Zealand troops, including Māori representation.
We’ve added 8 new weapons across factions, while also reworking loadouts to better fit each class.
Britain
Martini-Henry Rifle A powerful single-shot rifle, already outdated by WWI but still used in reserve roles.
Webley Self-Loading Pistol An early semi-automatic pistol, from Webley.
Sawn-Off SMLE Mk III A close-range adaptation of the standard British rifle, suited for tunnel combat.
Howell Automatic Rifle A experimental automatic conversion of the SMLE.
Webley Revolver with stock and bayonet A rare setup combining a revolver with both a stock and bayonet for close combat versatility.
Germany
Karabiner 88 A shortened bolt-action rifle used widely early in the war.
Maschinengewehr 08/15 A lighter, but still heavy version of the MG08, bringing machine gun firepower closer to infantry.
Mauser C96 with stock A semi-automatic pistol with a shoulder stock, turning it into a compact carbine.
We’ve introduced a new class focused entirely on automatic weaponry.
Centralizes LMG balance
Moves Stormtrooper toward explosives
Keeps Specialist focused on unique weapons
We hope this helps make class roles clearer and more meaningful.
New constructibles, including concrete trench walls
Larger and more varied fortifications
Reworked constructible UI:
Clearer layout
Easier selection
Better organization
Additional UI improvements have also been made, including updates to the troop menu.
Two new community-made maps are now available in both Singleplayer and Official servers.
Marne by TheGamingHaribo features a river, a factory, and a French town set within rolling hills and open fields.
Fosse-Martin by Wilfried offers a more rural battlefield, with muddy terrain, trenches, and scattered farm structures shaping close-range engagements.
A fast British WWI tank built to break through lines and attack behind enemy positions.
Players can now report others directly in-game, allowing our admins to respond faster and more effectively. Global ban and mute lists now update in real-time, removing previous delays in enforcement.
We’ve also introduced a dedicated Code of Conduct to clearly outline expected behavior. We take toxicity seriously and will continue to act on it. You can view the Code of Conduct here.
Completely reworked network engine
Lower ping
Better input responsiveness
Improved overall performance
Major improvements to hit registration
More consistent gunplay
LMGs now slow movement while aiming
Additional slowdown while firing
This makes them less effective as run-and-gun weapons and more situational.
New uniforms for Germany and France for the LMG class
Minor updates to existing uniforms
UI improvements across multiple menus
Continued performance optimization
Hundreds of bug fixes and smaller improvements
Thanks for playing. May the force be with you.

Hey everyone. As we mentioned previously, we are currently working on a larger content patch, dropping sometime later this month! As such we would like to show you some teasers of the upcoming content we are adding to Over the Top: WW!
Today I would like to highlight some of the new weapons we are adding to the game. There will be other weapons joining the game too, but for now this is all you get. MUAHAHAHAHA.
Anyway, I somehow completely forgot the names of each of these weapons, so maybe you could help us by posting their name and maybe a short description of each of these new guns in the comments?
(Wow this is so stupid, I can't believe I am trying to farm engagement like this)

Hey everyone. As we mentioned previously, we are currently working on a larger content patch, dropping sometime later this month! As such we would like to show you some teasers of the upcoming content we are adding to Over the Top: WW!
Today I would like to highlight one of the new maps we are adding to the game. This one is especially exciting, because it was created by a member of the OTT community!
Set in the Marne region, this map features a river, a small town, and beautiful rolling hills. It was made by community member TheGamingHaribo, and we are very happy to be bringing it into the game.
If you have made a map that you think would be a good fit for Over the Top: WWI, even if it is still unfinished, feel free to send me (olafson) a message on Discord. If we like your map, we would love to add it to the game and the official server rotation.
More content teasers coming soon!
We look forward to show you some of the new content we are adding in the upcoming patch, stay tuned! /Flying Squirrel Entertainment
It has now been four weeks since launch, and we want to thank all of you for the incredible reception and support, and provide you with a short summary of what we have been up to, and a small look into whats to come for Over the Top!
Since release, we have deployed more than 22 hotfixes, and over 245 changes, with the majority of them going live during the first two weeks after launch. These hotfixes were mainly focused on making the game more stable, smoother, and less janky across the board.
A huge amount of work went into performance and networking, including better occlusion culling, memory and cpu optimizations, improved movement and position syncing and lots of fixes for crashes, loading issues, rubberbanding, and controller problems. They also included a steady stream of gameplay, map, anti exploit changes, balance tweaks, spawn protection improvements, friendly fire adjustments, and many minor map updates to improve gameplay flow and fix issues.
During the first two weeks of its life, the game saw major player-number growth, culminating in a concurrent player peak of over 7100 players simultaneously battling it out online or in singleplayer. Something we did not expect and were not prepared for. As such we had to respond by rapidly upgrading our server infrastructure. We also responded to this demand by expanding into New Zealand, Eastern Europe, South America, and most recently China.
On top of that, we have been dealing with near constant DDoS attacks since day one. Many of these we were able to successfully handle behind the scenes, without any players ever noticing the disruption. Unfortunately, eventually some attacks did get through and affected our servers. In response, we spent a couple more sleepless nights strengthening our defenses, and since then, the attackers have launched 17 additonal attempts to disrupt our servers, none of which have succeeded.
We remain fully committed to supporting the game long term. As such we have started to slow down the patch frequency to focus on a slightly larger content update coming in April. This update will include a range of new additions alongside a substantial number of fixes.
We have heard your feedback, especially around gunplay, performance, and game balance. The upcoming patch will bring major improvements in all of these areas, including lower input delay, improved hit detection, FPS optimizations, a new class, class changes, new weapons, a new map, and improvements to the Engineer UI as well as new engineer constructibles.
And just as a reminder, here is the roadmap for 2026!
Finally, we’d love to have you on our Discord to participate actively in the development discussions and feedback.
We look forward to show you some of the new content we are adding in the upcoming patch, stay tuned! /Flying Squirrel Entertainment
