Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating! I'm not slowing down! After pushing through a few issues with update 1.4, I'm already back with more great news for everyone.
If your PC setup is struggling you can now stream the game directly from the cloud with maximum performance.
Thank you all so much for your amazing support and patience!
Moved back to previous, reliable engine version
Merged all changes tweaks from new version
Merged translations from new version.
Unfortunately, due to recent changes, some of your saves might not automatically appear in your gallery.
Luckily, there is a simple fix! You just need to manually copy them while the game is running on the main menu. From location: C:\\Users\\{USER}\\AppData\\Local\\MHB\\Saved\\SaveGames
To location: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Outside the Blocks\\MHB\\Saved\\SaveGames
Once again, thank you for your patience! ːespressoː
Added more support for older video cards.
Changed the way sky textures load. Now it should be smoother and seamless.
Potential fix for crashes connected to async loading of sky textures.
Refactored old references for unused collision channels that could crash the game in some cases (e.g., when selecting objects).
Reworked tutorial initialization: removed debug code and unnecessary functions on startup.
I'm still working on the crashes caused by patch 1.4. Today, I finally managed to reproduce some crashes connected to the lighting setup, and this patch aims to fix them. If you are still having any trouble with game, please message me! Any additional data is incredibly valuable to me!
Once again, thank you for your patience! ːespressoː
Fixed behavior when the marquee tool is used without selecting anything while Multi-Selection is ON.
Increased the maximum number of instructions the game can perform.
Added more debug data to the project.
I heard about some random crashes happening sometimes while selecting objects. I'm currently investigating the issue, but since I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end, it's hard to say exactly what is causing the problem.
If anyone else is experiencing this, I would be really grateful for any additional info you can provide (videos, reproduction steps, etc.).
I changed also the location for steam cloud saves. This shouldn't cause any issues on your end. However, if you notice any problems appearing with your saves, please contact me right away!
Sorry for the inconvenience! The last big patch introduced a lot of major under-the-hood changes, so some minor bugs were bound to happen. I will try to fix all of them as soon as possible. Once again, thank you for your patience! ːespressoː
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!

Thanks once again for your outstanding work! I would also like to thank everyone who tested the game on the localization branch, which has now been officially closed and merged into the main version of the game.
But wait, there’s even more in this latest update!
Here are the patch notes:
New Feature: Added the ability to change the language in the game options.
16 New Languages fully integrated.
Engine Upgrade: The game has been moved to the latest version of the engine, which should positively impact overall performance.
Fixed: Bug with hotkeys initialization.
Fixed: Bug with missing localization files.
Fixed: Bug with the cursor position locking in terrain editing mode.
UI Improvement: Increased text-max length for tooltip titles (fixed the issue with tight spacing in Czech).
UI Improvement: Adjusted settings layout to ensure all localized texts fit properly.
If you find any issues, please let me know!
With this amount of text, it’s easy to miss or overlook something. Also, if you encounter any unexpected bugs caused by the version change, please report them. The update was thoroughly tested before release, but as you know, a sneaky bug can always slip through!
In addition to the in-game improvements, starting today, the Steam Store page is also available in all supported languages!
One more thing while I have your attention!
I’d love to share a link to a game being made by the company where I work my regular 9-to-5 job. I have a feeling many of you might find it really interesting! We would be incredibly grateful if you could add it to your Wishlist and perhaps join our upcoming playtests!
I am incredibly happy that I finally managed to merge all versions of the game into one single branch. This means I can finally return to working on new content!
I don't want to reveal too many details just yet, but if everything goes according to plan, you are going to love it. Because of this, expect a series of smaller patches in the near future. I will also start introducing changes that will allow for... changing the kit. After all, how long can you keep building medieval houses, right? ːyakhappyː
Take care, and see you soon!
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
I’d like to start with a huge thank you to everyone who has already joined the localization tests and shared their feedback. Thanks to your reports, many mistakes, typos, and unclear phrases have already been fixed, making the game more polished and enjoyable for players around the world. Community support like this is incredibly motivating and helps push the project forward in the best possible direction. ːespressoː
That said, a few languages still need more testing and verification before the localization can be considered complete. If you speak any of the following languages, your help would be greatly appreciated:

Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
To celebrate, I decided to write this Steam post in a slightly larger format, since a bunch of smaller news items have piled up and I’d like to share them all with you!
I expect that all future updates will be published as regular patch notes. So far, the following have been released:
First of all, I’d like to let you know that Patch 1.2 has just landed!
It finally brings several new features to the game requested by the community. These additions should give you even more tools to build awesome new creations.
Here are the patch notes:
New animal swarm: Fireflies
New water preset: Winter Lake
New display base material: White Marble
New display base material: Gray Marble
New display base material: Brown Marble
New display base material: Green Marble
Improved screenshot quality: The game now forces a higher source resolution. Screenshots may take a bit longer to capture, but the quality is noticeably better.
Optimized butterflies and moths: Improved shadow performance.
Adjusted save success sound: The save confirmation effect has been softened and should now be less annoying.
Removed autosave success sound: Autosave no longer plays a confirmation audio cue.
Another piece of news: there is now a new bundle where Outside the Blocks teams up with the cozy and charming game UMAMI!
If that sounds interesting to you, the bundle comes with a 10% discount, so it’s definitely worth a look!
In case you haven’t seen it yet, our Steam Community is full of amazing diorama screenshots made using Outside the Blocks! I highly encourage you to check out what players have been creating:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/2350220/screenshots/?p=1&browsefilter=toprated
Finally, I’d like to once again thank everyone who decided to purchase my game and support its ongoing development. You’re amazing, and seeing your reactions has made me genuinely happy and proud!
That’s everything I wanted to share for now! I’m just entering a very intense moving period, which I hope will smoothly transition into the holiday season…
See you in the New Year!
Added a new “Light Source Quality” option that simplifies shadows from smaller light sources such as torches or campfires. This enables significantly more light sources to be active without performance issues. It's especially useful for open-field dioramas.
Added a new “Atmospheric Fog Quality” option with three presets. These allow players to reduce fog quality in the scene with a small impact on performance.
Redesigned the Video Settings layout for clearer navigation and easier adjustment.
Optimized how Video Settings data is stored and written. This reduces hard-drive usage without affecting object creation time.
Updated the initialization method for light-source objects to ensure more reliable behavior and better compatibility with the new Light Source Quality setting.
Fixed a bug where grid visibility did not update when resetting UI options.
Fixed a bug where UI scale settings did not update when resetting UI options.
Added two variants of medium-sized window shutters.
Implemented soft-foliage cutting on the top of the glass dome, not only the sides as before.
Note: Does not work on hard branches.
Fixed a bug that caused terrain textures to revert to the last saved state when using Undo in the sculpting workspace.
Fixed wind vane orientation: it now properly aligns its rotation with the wind direction.
Fixed a Capture Workspace issue: Randomize All now also randomizes the weather profile.
Updated Maple Tree label (Small → Tiny).
Adjusted Dense Ivy color to better match other natural objects.
Fixed a bug that caused “grainy” terrain materials when height differences were significant.
Improved Dune Terrain Generator shapes — now less geometric.
Improved Mountain Terrain Generator shapes — now less noisy.
Improved terrain normal generation for higher accuracy.
Improved terrain shading — shading contrast on flat areas is now less noticeable.
Improved terrain lighting — now smoother and less jagged.
Improved flattening tool — edges should now appear less jagged.
Smoothed terrain texture blending patterns.
Improved grass spawning — more grass patches should appear across all terrain generators.
Improved foliage painting — now more responsive and less blurry.
Improved terrain slope textures — now smoother and more natural.
Reduced terrain generator spawn times.
Resolved an issue causing snow to appear on some foliage despite coverage being set to 0.

Btw, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but most of those builds are dark and moody rather than bright and cozy… Maybe I should market the game a little differently… 😅
Cheers!
Fixed an issue where a cube would appear instead of fish or butterflies when loading a save created before version 1.1.0.
Added the ability to toggle chimney smoke on/off.
Note: If you already placed a chimney on your diorama and want to see smoke, you’ll need to place it on the scene again.
The “Toggle UI” button now hides automatically when the UI is hidden and the mouse hasn’t moved for 1,5 second.
Improved quality of all wall anchors.
Fixed the “Use Rotation” checkbox behavior in the object gizmo.
Fixed dog scratching animation scale.
In-Game Cursor System Reworked: Cursor movement is now independent of framerate, resulting in a much smoother and more user-friendly experience.
Global Illumination Presets Added to Display Settings: You can now adjust Global Illumination quality to significantly improve performance on low-end PCs.
Camera guidelines no longer block the scene gizmos.
The next-tutorial-step hotkey bug has been fixed, and it no longer works once you finish the tutorial.
New display resolution preset added: 3440×1440
Improved animation speed: Faster appearance of projects in the Gallery
Fixed a bug where the world grid was not adjusted when canceling object movement.
Tutorial – Reset Camera Step: Added information about the keyboard shortcut.
Improved TSR anti-aliasing (AA) quality.
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating! The long-awaited moment has finally arrived.
And on top of that, you can grab it right now with a special launch discount:
To make the launch even more special, Outside the Blocks is part of three separate collaboration bundles with some amazing games from fellow creators:
Outside the Blocks + Dystopika
Outside the Blocks + Pile Up!
Outside the Blocks + Frozenheim
Each bundle is available with a 10% discount, so this is a great chance to expand your collection with games in a similar spirit, while supporting multiple indie developers!
I’ve prepared a brand-new trailer that shows the game in all its glory:
I also want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all of you. Every comment, wishlist, piece of feedback, as well as all the testing and conversations, has been an incredible support for me. Making a game solo can be a wild journey, but thanks to you, I never felt like I was walking it alone. You are truly AMAZING! ❤️
Is this the end of development? Absolutely not! I already have a few smaller additions planned that didn’t make it in before launch.
And as for bigger updates and new features? Well… I’m not ready to reveal that just yet. 😉 But one thing I know for sure: your opinions and ideas are key for me, so I’d love to hear what you’d like to see first!
Now head over to the store, have fun, and don’t forget to share your creations on our Discord server. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Happy building, Michał

Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
I prepared this post especially for all the new people who discovered my game during Next Fest! Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions I’ve been getting recently.
Outside the Blocks is coming very soon: November 4th, 2025.
The full game unlocks all features and includes several improvements. Basically, it’s the demo but with a lot, lot, LOT more content, plus some quality-of-life updates (like UI scaling).
At launch, the game will be available in English only. I do hope to add more languages in the future, and which ones come first will depend mainly on wishlist numbers from different countries. 🙂
Yes! I plan to keep adding new objects even after launch. This is my passion project, and I’d love to continue developing it for as long as possible.
Possibly! The game is already designed to support Kits, and I hope to create extra styles in the future. Got an idea? Join our Discord in the Ideas channel to share your suggestion or vote on existing ones.
I really hope so! My goal is to let creative people add their own Kits with custom models and textures, and share them via Steam Workshop.
Maybe in the future – but for now, no concrete plans.
Unfortunately, the game will only be available on Windows.
First of all, make sure to wishlist the game.
Another great way is to spread the word – share it with friends, communities, or on social media groups that might be interested. Every bit of support means a lot. 🙂
Join us on Discord! Here’s the link: https://discord.gg/mAYsGS77t3
I’ll be sharing details about the price next week. 🙂
There will be a big launch discount. Don’t miss it, it won’t happen again anytime soon!
Thanks so much for being here! See you on November 4th!
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
I’m thrilled to announce that Outside the Blocks will be released on:
You can already mark the date in your calendars, but it’s much easier (and safer!) to just wishlist the game - that way Steam will notify you automatically.
To celebrate the release date reveal, I’ve prepared a brand-new trailer showcasing the current state of the game. I warmly encourage you to check it out and to share it further!
That’s not all! Alongside the announcement, a small demo has also launched. It introduces some of the new features and gives you a clearer picture of what Outside the Blocks 1.0 will look like.
The demo will be available until the end of Steam Next Fest. I hope that everyone who’s been waiting to play will now get the chance to try it out and make a well-informed decision before launch.
And if you’ve built something cool in the demo and want to show it off, feel free to join our Discord server and share it with the community!
Cheers!
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
In this Steampost I’d like to show you something I actually added quite a while ago, but which still brings me just as much joy!
Some of you keen-eyed observers may have already spotted it in screenshots before. I’m talking about objects made out of fabric! That means all sorts of flags, pennants, banners… as well as tents and market stalls!
Each of these lets you customize the fabric, its color, pattern, and even symbols.
On top of that, I’ve added a whole palette of various carpets, so you can break up the monotony of large, uniform floors.
Or, for example, decorate the inside of a tent!
These decorations are really cool and have become some of the objects I use most often. You’ll get to see that for yourself in the new trailer I’ll be publishing next week! Take care, and keep an eye out for the next Steamposts!
P.S. Of course, the flags & tents models will only be available in the full 1.0 release and won’t appear in the upcoming demo.
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
Finally, the moment has come when I can present to you some exciting new content I’ve added to Outside the Blocks!
First up… BRIDGES! Below you’ll find a few images showcasing the results of my tests.
The game now features 4 bridge modules that can be combined in all sorts of different ways, along with a variety of materials.
Another cool feature is that you can freely connect them with architectural modules, creating all kinds of unique and amazing constructions.
I hope you already have thousands of ideas in your heads for how to make use of these modules! I can’t wait to see what you’ll build with them.
P.S. Of course, the bridge models will only be available in the full 1.0 release and won’t appear in the upcoming demo.
Hello to all fans of building, modeling, and creating!
This weekend, to celebrate reaching Beta of Outside the Blocks, I decided to take a short holiday and… visit another open-air museum! This time it was the Muzeum Kultury Ludowej Pogórza Sudeckiego.
My plan was to look at everything carefully and check whether I had missed anything in the game!
I think my mission was a success, because pretty much everything I found could be recreated!
The only exception was a really awesome bell tower. Maybe, if I find some extra time, I’ll add it before the official release!
I hope you also had a great weekend!
See you in the next Steam post!
I’ll keep it short and straight to the point:
I’ve finished all the planned work needed to release Outside the Blocks. The game now has the full set of features and content to be in your hands!
Not yet. I want you to get a polished and comfortable product, so in the coming weeks I’ll focus on fine-tuning, adding some quality-of-life improvements, and fixing any bugs that still show up.
Absolutely! This September I’m planning to release a new DEMO, which you’ll be able to PLAY and REVIEW on Steam. Your feedback will play a huge role in determining how soon the full release happens!
The new demo is aimed mostly at players who haven’t tried Outside the Blocks yet, but veteran feedback is just as important.
Here’s what’s new:
Features: Undo/Redo, light sources, animated objects, and more
Improvements: reworked tutorial, new material system, revamped camera controls
Content: a slightly smaller set of objects than in the old demo, but with fresh additions
Since I’m developing this game completely solo, it’s easy to get biased or miss obvious issues. That’s why your feedback is invaluable.
Stay tuned for updates and new posts where I’ll showcase what’s coming in the final version. I’ve got plenty of cool stuff I can’t wait to share with you soon!
Take care and see you in next steam post!
Hello to all the fans of building, modeling, and creating!
Outside the Blocks just hit 50,000 wishlists! 🔥 Thank you all so much!
Here’s a quick update on what’s coming next:
The current demo is being removed, as it no longer reflects the current state of the game. I'm considering releasing a new one later on – but nothing is confirmed yet.
The goal is to release the game later this year. I’m not ready to lock in a date just yet, but development is going well.
I recently finished implementing undo/redo – easily the most challenging part so far. Everything else should feel much smoother in comparison. I’ll keep you posted!
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be showing off more new content. A lot of cool stuff is already done – just waiting to be shared!
Join our DIscord https://discord.gg/mAYsGS77t3 – I post new stuff there first (and sometimes share weird experiments 😄).
Oh, and if you're curious about what's planned for the game, here's the roadmap:
Thanks again for the incredible support and for helping the game hit 50,000 wishlists! 🚀
Just a few months ago, I wouldn’t have believed my game could get this much attention.
Truly – thank you. ❤️
