  • LOS tags require center mass or head to be visble in order to show (no longer checks extremities).

  • Something else wanted to try out also, to make global tagging more impactful and useful for team. They will now show name, Shell and stat information.

Current main focus is game modes and Codex entries. These will take a while, so here are some other smaller changes. Bug fixes

• Fix for devices not being destroyed on loadout change during Clone War.

Changes and additions

• A quick look at target visibility following recent discussions. Something to try out that doesn't require making art / aesthetic changes and still fits in with the theme. See how it feels, subject to change.

  • Enemies within narrow field of view are locally tagged with a HUD icon (LOS only).

  • Globally tagged targets now appear as yellow HUD icon to differentiate.

• Augmented arms changes:

  • No longer has the additional charging and damage for backup weapons.

  • Gains 100% increased combo point generation (build combo points quicker, get more use from blocks and special attacks).

  • Aux drain on the additional charging replaced with 25% reduced aux regneration (so it applies to all builds, not just backup).

• TTK changes (including making combo point use consistent with other backups):

  • Primary throw and quick melee only now build combo points.

  • LMB charge speed increased by 25%.

  • Burst throw now gains accuracy, velocity and damage with combo points, drains 1 point for each hit.

• Special melee weapon attacks now have a combo point cost rather than just drain all of them. For now both weapons attacks use 2 points.

• Blocking damage combo point drain is now relative to the damage blocked.

• Target painting range limits:

  • Umibozu 100m.

  • Overseer 50m.

  • Target Painter 25m (reinforcing this is a close range optic option).

• Made some tooltips and assosciated bonuses more consistent:

  • Augmented Arms + Enhanced Foundations increase both firearm and device throw velocity.

• Fixes for profile syncing plus additional measures to ensure profile data is not lost.

• Fixes for build code inconsistencies.

Bug fixes

• Fix for Unstable Core not preventing Core based Shell specs.

Changes and additions

• Build code sharing and code storage is now online:

  • UI is barebones for now as usual, but functional.

  • On the Matrix there are new options below the existing menu.

  • Press 'Copy code' to copy your entire active build to clipboard, for sharing or storing (active build includes all 5 loadouts, Foundations, Specialisations, Dominant Foundation and Primed Assets).

  • Press 'Paste code' to replace your entire active build using code stored on clipboard (will have a confirm prompt).

  • All players now have 5 optional stored build slots saved on their profile which are accessible via the slot selector and Load / Save buttons.

  • 'Load' will replace your entire active build with the build stored, 'Save' will store your entire active build into the selected slot (will have a confirm prompt).

  • These 5 optional slots essentially mean an additional 5 Matrix setups and 25 additional loadout slots.

  • Would like to eventually allow players to label the 5 build slots, but currently they are just numeric.

• Debuff adjustments, frequency and stacking potential (to reduce being able to apply multiple debuffs with little effort).

  • Bleed is now cleared by Burn on next tick, causing cauterize (single increased damage tick).

  • Corrode is now cleared by Burn on next tick, combining into Burn+.

  • Dragon no longer applies Burn with backup weapons as a baseline. Tech specialisation is now required.

  • Shell Shock no longer applies Snare.

• Studied from 'can only equip backup weapons and enhancement devices' > 'can no longer equip primary weapons'.

• Unstable Core detonation no longer deals AOE damage, instead applies 4 second disable+ with heavy knockback.

• Decapitated head impacts will now deal direct shock damage and apply a 2 second Disable+.

Bug fixes

• Fix for explosive far damage being negatively affected by Hardware 5 bonus.

• Fix for Overclocked self damage not counting as actual damage (can now actually die from it and it also correctly removes any bonus defense).

• Primed passives. Final layer of the Matrix. Values stack per item within the prime chains (75% cap), higher value applies if item in used in loadout. WIP, everything subject to change:

  • Tox cloud Snare and Corrode duration from 2 > 4 seconds.

  • Bison Flow State from 2.5 > 2 second duration.

  • Shotgun specialisation changed to: 25% damage reduction bypass for each debuff active on target.

  • Hardware 5 bonus changed to: 5% increased firearm and explosive far damage, and vitals restored by primary stim, every 10 s up to 50%.

  • Hydra Feedback Loop adjustment:

    • No longer fully charges Core on gaining 5 stacks (90% of the time by 5 stacks you are already at full Core).

    • Now gains full 5 stacks on Core activations to be used for the existing bonuses.

  • Backup weapon combos points part 2:

    • No longer drain on holding RMB (still drain slowly over time and will be used on the parry mechanic).

    • Now are drained on special attack (thrust / uppercut).

    • Akanami thrust's defense and DR ignore is 20% per combo point. Deals 50% more bleed damage.

    • Dusters uppercut's damage and upward knock now scales per combo point. Lower than current on zero points, higher on full.

• Fix for some players unable to login into backend.

Bug fixes

• Fix for Clones disabling the extra mod gained from attachment spec.

• Fix for rare overlapping weapon model.

• Fix for spectator not using correct sensitity settings.

Changes and additions

• Redline gains 25% reduced Core duration.

• Tether and Augmented Nano-wire no longer Snare.

• Counter Intelligence will detect unobstructed enemies to allies within 15m of your decapitated head.

• Desync Neuro-link renamed 'Glitch' to follow suit with the others not being named after debuffs.

• Glitch no longer applies Desync+ to disabled enemies, instead applies to enemies with Core active (doubles as an anti Core device more effectively).

  • Desync+ will apply Disable+ and deal 50 shock damage to enemies with active Core or enemies that relocate.

• Pathogen applies a 1/s bleed to get actual use out of the Corrode+.

• Corrode defense damage from 10 > 5 per tick.

Progression overhaul

• This has been a point of contention for a while, and following many discussions with the community I feel this will ultimately be good for the game.

  • Matrix upgrade progression has been dropped. Masteries and Specialisations will still remain and any future progression will be entirely cosmetic or other means for players to show off.

  • Players will now start with all available Matrix upgrades and will be able to create any build they want from the get-go (within the normal limitations).

  • Due to this, the granuality of the upgrades has been greatly simplified, with a total of 10 to be distributed into the Foundations.

  • The foundation passives have also be re-distributed to allow for more build combinations and variety.

• This is quite a large change, so there is potential for issues (including loadouts getting reset). I will endeavour to fix anything that arises as soon as I can.

Codex

• Initial steps to getting the Codex up and running are in.

  • Currently contains details and video clips for all the basic movements possible in the game, for players to learn.

  • Will be expanded to cover other mechanics in detail, such as the Matrix.

Other changes

• Wire cutting no longer knocks down if enemy is airborne, instead puts enemy Nano-wire on cooldown for 5 seconds (in addition to disable+)

• Fall damage reduced.

Bug fixes

• Fix for Rhino knockdowns to airborne targets not using range check (to prevent point blank knocks).

• Fix for players impacting in dropship or just after dropping.

• Fix for strafe / quick melee dash not triggering Backdraft.

• Fix for projectiles no affected by gravity getting stuck in air on failed Nano-wire connection.

• Fix for Disengage storing respawn points while in dropship or just after dropping.

• Fix for relocations being able to telefrag even if they fail.

• Fix for quick roll triggering while in air after dodging.

Changes and additions

• Warrant near damage from 125 > 100 (was waiting to see how it played with the improved hit detection and magnetism).

• Warrant and Blackout projectiles now have a 5 m 'arming' range but can always be fired.

  • For Warrant it removes Shell impact detonations and disables magnetism within the arming range

  • For Blackout it reduces explosive damage by 50% and disables magnetism within the arming range.

• Heavy weapons:

  • Have gone back to using the primary slot (too many issues and workarounds with it replacing backups plus Versatile now exists).

  • No longer disarms on rolling maneuvers, instead will switch to another, non heavy, weapon on the roll.

  • Can benefit from Versatile (no bonus other than being able to equip two of them for now).

  • Reduced weapon speed penalty from 2 > 1.5 m/s, but now reduces speed cap by 1.0 m/s.

• Umibozu no longer has spread gain, spread from 0.5 > 1.0.

• Some more impactful downsides to several augments as they were pretty negligable.

  • Shell Shock from 50% increased disable duration > 35% reduced defense restored from all sources.

  • Chain reaction from 15% increased direct damage received while disabled > 25% increased direct damage received while disabled or Overcharged.

  • Hardcase from 0.25 m/s reduced ground speed > 0.25 m/s reduced ground speed and speed cap.

• Dusters uppercut only deals the full damage on headshots (spamming could nearly out damage the standard attack, while being easier to connect and also having additional utility).

• Redline from 0-50% increased direct damage received > 0-25% increased damage received (all damage).

Bug fixes

• Fix for Backdoor detections not clearing on head despawn.

• Fix for name on heads not always clearing when player respawns.

• Fix for Bloodsport not reducing aux drain on backup weapons.

• Fix for dexterity not applying to some backup weapon attack intervals.

• Fix for Dragon boost costing an aerial maneuver charge while Crossfeed is active.

Changes and additions

• Transference gains disguise after holding an enemy head for 2 seconds (if enemy has not respawned).

• Heads can be tossed faster.

• Added a maximum head rotation speed to prevent camera going crazy when thrown off map.

• Pressing interact input while holding a head will turn it around. Show your new friend things!

• Quick melee dash / strafe are now also boosted maneuvers for Dragon.

• Boosted maneuvers no longer require existing movement to reach full speed.

• Aerial decelerration now has a Shell specific multiplier (how quickly you slow down while falling without maneuvers, for additional fine tuning).

  • Bison / Hydra / Ghost = 1.0x

  • Dragon = 0.5x

  • Rhino = 1.5x

Small client side update.

• Death statistic is no longer hooked up and will not display on end match scoreboards (for a game that's prime intention was always to promote style over just K/D, I think it will only be beneficial. Players shouldn't worry about dying often and should be encouraged to just play for Combat Rating).

• Interactions UI made a bit more legible, with less overlap.

• Decapitated heads:

  • Now have an icon when nearby (as they were quite easily lost in the chaos).

  • Will show player names and have glowing eyes while the player has not respawned. When they respawn the eyes will fade and name will be removed.

• TTK throwing should be smoother again.

• Charging backup weapon attacks while Ghost Camouflage active now correctly updates crosshair.

• Dragon Boost:

  • No longer increases damage received (oversight with rework).

  • Restores 25 aux on activation, starts draining aux short duration after.

  • Gains some horizontal speed burst on activation.

  • No longer cancels drop shield.

• Tether AOE from 5 > 6 meters, decapitated heads are suspended in place while attached.

Some things to play around with while game mode and map updates are underway. Bug fixes

  • For now all direct headshot kills will decapitate.

  • Anyone can pickup heads and throw them (CR bonus on damage, will also be a challenge tied to kills gained).

  • While holding a head gain 50% increased Core generation and regeneration.

  • Backdoor gains 30m enemy detections while holding an enemy head on Nano-wire (ala Intel).

  • Heavy ordnance turns heads into explosives when thrown.

  • Head hunter gains 25 vitals and defense restored on head pickup.

  • Tether AOE works on held heads.

• More optimisations on player impacts.

• Another pass at optimising and improving movement feel.

• Additional maneuvers / maneuver chains added:

  • Slide roll - press and hold crouch input during a slide (increases speed, gains ground momentum and triggers any roll related augment. Cant knock down).

  • Dodge roll - press and hold crouch input during a dodge (increases speed, gains ground momentum and triggers any roll related augment. Cant knock down).

  • Dive into climb / wall run transition (including sideways latching for cool fast wall run starts).

• Slide into dodge responsiveness and consistency improved.

• Climbing minimum speed now gains climb speed bonuses.

• Climbing speed is no longer capped by base ground speed, but costs 50% more aux (climbing / wall running will be much faster while aux is high).

• Sliding / dive sliding down slopes can now reach up to Shells speed cap.

• Predictive jump height system improvements. Will now work with jump speed bonuses, reducing chance of smacking head into ceilings or doorways.

• Decoupled Shell speed cap from base speed to have more control:

• Ghost = 12 m/s.

• Bison / Hydra = 11 m/s.

• Rhino / Dragon = 10 m/s.

• Dragon. Has been in discussion many times over the past months, I feel this main issues originate from the fact that it plays very different mechanically to every other Shell. I want to try and reduce the gap between Dragon and the other Shells, with the goal right now being to lower the ratio of air to ground movement by making ground more viable and hover use more limited. As with anything during Early Access, this is subject to change:

  • Lowered the recent maneuver to hover delay increase (was a little too harsh, should be smooth again but not instant).

  • All maneuvers now get boosted, dodging no longer lifts off ground.

  • Base speed increased, now equal with Hydra (faster ground speed).

  • Now has 3 aerial maneuver charges by default, no longer gains aerial maneuver charge on hover activation or Backdraft (a good baseline now, but removing the never ending aerial maneuvers).

  • Hover is now just a boost, activated on holding jump and ending on release, costs an aerial maneuver charge to activate (less for flying, more for vertical lift and aerial control for short durations).

  • Crossfeed now has a 10 second cooldown to prevent 100% uptime.

  • Ground Slam has increased knockback and no self damage, no longer has AOE knockdown. Direct hits now count as body impacts, dealing impact damage and can knockdown.

• Rhino:

  • Body impacts can now knockdown enemies if the enemy is not grounded.

  • Reactive Cladding bonus now also activates on receiving explosive damage.

• Ghosts:

  • Lowered cloak visbility slightly.

  • Charging backup weapon attack / holding quick melee dash no longer deactivates camouflage.

• Server side projectiles now have seperate player impact collision, which gives a small amount of magnetism when close to targets (allows easier hits on players with latency, without affecting environment impacts. Warrant etc.).

• Optimisation on all projectiles and interactives.

• Improvements to server projectile lag compensation, with catch up and latency adjusted hit detection.

• Warrant:

  • All grenades now trigger on player collision.

  • All grenades tweaked.

• Blackout (with improved server projectile impacts, want to see if can make this more viable as fire and forget and reward precision hits. There are plans for an alternate function later):

  • No longer uses guidance.

  • Increased velocity.

  • Lower AOE explosive damage.

  • Additional direct impact damage.

  • Proximity firing lock now only checks for players in front, can be used on enviroment at point blank (for reasons).

• Trying out an alternative input combination for melee special attacks as it maybe universally easier for players to use.

  • Special attacks are now triggered by pressing LMB while RMB held.

• Additional checks to prevent multiple devices able to be placed in world with very bad connections.

• Heavy ordance heads / contact charge detonate on contact with Shells.

• Tether is now an AOE effect from the attach point.

• A little less anaemic strafe, air maneuver and Dragon audio.

• Aux regen rate is now equal for all Shells.

Bug fixes

• Fix for alternate aim minimum spread not applying.

• Fix for Unstable Core being affected by loadout swap Core penalty.

• Fix for Hangar target bots not spawning if Simulation run with count set to 0.

• Fix for preset loadouts getting weapon mods removed online.

Changes and additions

• Relaxed the server/client time offset threshold for denying player damage / impacts to allow for fluctuating connections (will still prevent fully desynced players).

• Connection info on HUD update rate increased and also includes the time offset between client and server.

• Target painting slight change as it came up in discussion recently. More active, plus helps with the planned future uses. (applies to all sources).

  • Gives Target painter more of a use now T-lock is gone.

  • Only paints targets near crosshair (doesn't require aim).

  • While crosshair is near a painted target : Reduces hip fire spread + spread gain by 35%, alternate aim spread + spread gain by 25%.

  • Being disabled will remove target painting bonuses.

  • Target painter and Overseer have been adjusted to accommodate these changes.

Bug fixes

• Fix for Rhino concussive impulse not triggering from drop ship landing.

• Fix for being able to drop weapon while holding quick melee dash.

• Fix for Hyper audio triggering on death with Body 150.

• Fix for Dragon Ground slam still gaining explosive range from deprecated Hardware passive.

Changes and additions

• Changing loadouts (including edits) or switching team, will remove all placed devices and projectiles (not detonate).

• Any Core charge reduction applied on deploy no longer triggers Unstable Core detonation.

• Body 150 Hyper cooldown from 10 > 15 seconds (a little too frequent).

• A few Dragon tweaks, following multiple discussions and opinions from both sides and some investigation.

  • Dragon Ground slam knock down range from 2 > 1 meter (too easy for a free kill, combined with the above bug fix more precision will be required).

  • Air dash duration no longer allows input control to full maneuver speed (this was actually an outlier for all maneuvers in the game and what I expect is the cause for most of the issues players have. Effectively meant during the air dash window you could change direction with full stunt speed just by holding a direction, rather than just a launch like all other maneuvers. This also allowed to override the momentum loss from full direction change by just holding a direction input).

  • Maneuver to hover delay from 0.25 > 0.5 seconds (again to make it more inline with other transitions).

• AAP turret now only targets projectiles that deal damage (not anchor etc.)

• AAP turret is now only active while attached and after the activation delay, including every subsequent attach.

• Tweak to laser sight and foregrip stats.

• Angled grip weapon mod is now available to some weapons, an alternative to foregrip boosting alternate aim accuracy.

• Some more CPU optimisations that may reduce frame drops for players in firefights.

• Firecracker secondary explosions from 5 > 10 damage.

Bug fixes

• Fix for Matrix tooltips appearing behind other UI elements.

• Fix for turning off Dragon hover switching Overseer aim mode to ADS.

Changes and additions

• Jin-Sec dropship deployment WIP, AKA part 1 of the spawn proper spawn system (note that this will likely have issues and require iteration plus some of the testmaps aren't really designed with them in mind, especially Testmap 4).

  • On team modes Jin-Sec will only deploy in the dropships (Onryo will still use old FFA spawning until the spider tank and map changes are in).

  • Can fire and use devices freely from the dropships but you are unable to move.

  • Launching from the dropship can be initiated by pressing the jump key at any point.

  • On launching gain Hyper for 5 seconds and the safe fall buff (dropship deployments do not gain Shroud).

  • Safe fall allows you to fall with reduced gravity and no fall damage. It is cancelled by using any aerial movement or Hover.

  • While in the dropship or with safe fall you take reduced damage.

  • Out of bounds limits are removed while safe falling and for a short duration after it ends.

  • On FFA modes they become additional spawn points for all players.

• Additional FFA spawn rules implemented. Should no longer spawn when in line of sight of another player (doesn't apply to dropship spawns), and should no longer be able to spawn on a spawnpoint in use.

• Some more gunfire audio cpu optimisation and EQ adjustments (some may sound a little different, hopefully clearer, but will be an ongoing process throughout Early Access).

• Body 150 bonus changed to give Hyper for 2.5 seconds on aux depletion, cooldown from 5 > 10 seconds (already had some overlap).

• Ghost Opportunity gains/retains Amplify for duration (to make it more clear that it is active as it's Ghosts core combat mechanic).

• Ghost Body spec now clears all debuffs on camouflage activation (not just Burn) but with a 10 second cooldown.

• Ghost Hardware spec now applies Desync+ to all enemies within 25 meters, even obstructed.

• Landing / climb start momentum fade duration from 1 > 2 seconds (keep speed for longer).

• A little bit of experimentation for visuals to help convey the speed players are actually moving (subject to change).

Bug fixes

• Fix for Concussive impulse restoring more defense than intended.

• Fix for Shell Shock damage over time counting as direct damage.

• Fix for Tech spec Rhino defense regen bypassing Burning and Corrode.

Changes and additions

• Quick pass on optimised distant gunfire and explosion audio. (Potential FPS gains during busy servers, plus a little more atmospheric).

• WIP Jin-Sec drop ship added, plus some audio and VFX in preperation for team spawns.

• Knockdown min distance for manuevers from 2 > 2.5 meters (slightly less easy to knockdown).

• Certain Nano-Wire interactions are now prevented by player blocking (if player is in the way the interaction icon will disappear. Doesn't apply to interactions already connected).

• Primed assets are a little more obvious on the Matrix.

• Bolster and Hyper moved to Body foundation.

• Couple of changes that have been a long time coming:

  • Combusts increased defense damage from 50 > 25%.

  • Specialist reduced weapon handling penalties from 50 > 25%, on kill bonuses from 5 > 10 seconds, no longer limits to 1 device but increases device cooldowns by 50%.

Bug fixes

• Fix for clones saving between matches.

• Fix for Augmented Nano-wire showing interactions for all holstered weapons on enemies.

• Fix for weapon rechambering not automatically activating on disconnecting from Anchor.

• Fix for clones not showing correct Shell icon on detections.

• Fix for specialisations not storing on clones.

• Fix for Deadzone not getting disabled.

Other changes

• More detailed death information screen (doesn't apply to AI bots).

• On cloning killer you now get 3 uses of deploy clone. Once all used you will be able to clone another killer.

• Slightly cleaner spawn UI.

• Matrix search now works with specialisation names (eg. 'Precision', 'Handguns').

• Deadzone now has an activation delay (to reduce effectiveness of just throwing at enemy feet mid combat).

• Deadzone and AAP turret now have some activation audio.

• Fix for duplicate weapon models on weapon pickup.

• Fix for missing weapon model on interrupted quick melee.

• Clone War quick change to reduce the staleness over time and always keep mixing (keeping it simple as this is not a primary mode).

  • Match duration from 15 > 10 mins.

  • No longer uses loadout lock.

  • If you are currently a clone and get killed by the same clone build, your next deploy will be uncloned (can select loadout).

Bug fixes

• Fix for CR not being gained from kills.

• Fix for Wildfire not applying the Akimbo damage reduction for automatic firemode.

• Fix for hovering over selected loadout not showing tooltip.

Changes and additions

• A small, but also big change to the function of Primed assets. Final goal being to give them more use for players at all stages of progression while similtaneously giving even more build freedom.

  • No longer have an effect on mastery speeds (masteries will remain a longer grind and will provide convenience and unique cosmetics / titles only).

  • 6 primed assets available by default, giving even new players optional build freedom while on low foundations and also loweing the gap between fully progressed players.

  • Primed assets will automatically link together linearly within the same foundation, providing even more unlocks depending on placement.

  • Additional minor min-maxing bonuses to come at a later date for each primed asset and link asset equipped, relative to placement and foundation (for those that really want to optimise how they place the links to support their build).

• Clone war game mode added (since already getting the clone mechanic in and cleaned up)

  • Simple FFA filler game mode where you always deploy using the build that last killed you, also nice and lore appropriate.

  • Should slowy filter out to one build (or a few) as the match progresses.

• Cloning mechanic has been expanded slightly (limitations could still happen later).

  • Death information automatically pops up on spawn menu.

  • 'Clone Killer' button added below death information, which will allow you to store the killers loadout. Currently has a 60 second cooldown.

  • Deply clone will now always use this stored loadout (may introduce a limited amount of uses, after which a new clone would be required).

• Resupply points now reset device cooldowns.

• Body 150 bonus now also gives 2 second Snare immunity.

• Bug fixes

  • Fix for incorrect Flow State tooltip cooldown duration.

  • Fix for Desync+ clearing on Core activation.

  • Fix for being able to drop weapons during melee dash.

  • Fix for a few cases where the wrong weapon appears equipped to other players.

  • Fix for Transference disguise working in non team modes.

  • Fix for Ghost not appearing on TRG / Hunter optics past 50m.

  Changes and additions

  • Deploy as clone option now available on spawn menu.

    • Will clone entire loadout of last killer on spawn, including foundations, dominant foundation and specialisations.

    • Does not apply if killed by allies or AI bots.

  • The placeholder Shell model now has a different tint variation per Shell. This is very much an interim 'bodge' until the Shell models are made, but should help slightly with identifying them more.

  • Implemented the resupply point (restocks all ammo). It has been added to the firing range, but will also be used around team spawn areas when they go in. Basic and using a stand in model for now.

  • Pyro-Pyscho no longer receives damage flinch from Burn.

  • Umibozu recoil reduced (new recoil system hit it hard).

• Recreated the recoil system to no longer be affected by framerate (thanks to those that helped highlight this). This will likely change the feel for all guns, but is necessary. Will await feedback.

• Increased the max hip fire spread from 6 > 8 and set minimum values for both hip fire and alternate aim fire in an effort to make ADS the more effective option past close range.

• Vigil hip fire from 6 > 8, Sentinel hip fre from 5 > 6 (pushing both to be less viable outside of ADS).

• Specialisations that previously required 10 items mastered now only require 5.
