This hotfix focuses on display compatibility and making the pause and strategic-view systems behave more naturally.
Updated the map positioning and scaling for monitors using different resolutions, including 4K displays.
When the game is frozen with the ALT key, spaceships, asteroids, pirates, projectiles, and other objects now remain visible instead of disappearing.
Mouse-wheel zoom can now be used while the game is paused with ALT.
ALT pause remains active when entering and leaving the strategic zoom-out level; the game resumes only when the player explicitly unpauses it.
Removed the large spyglass icon from the strategic zoom-out view, as its purpose was unclear and it unnecessarily occupied screen space.
Thank you to everyone who reported these issues and helped us improve the interface across different resolutions and play styles.
At Indielligent, we love developing our games together with the people who play them. In our previous projects, player feedback often helped us identify better solutions, improve existing systems, and discover ideas we might never have reached on our own.
We are especially excited to continue this approach with Ore Bastards throughout Early Access. The reports, suggestions, and discussions shared by our first players are already helping us make the game clearer, stronger, and more enjoyable.
This gave us an idea for a permanent way to recognize the community members who joined us at the beginning of this journey.
We are considering creating 1,000 permanent memorial asteroids dedicated to the first 1,000 Early Access players who volunteer their names through a special Steam forum thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/4866000/discussions/0/572669660098570270/#c585055193116279980
Each participant would receive a unique asteroid displaying their chosen Steam name, together with an individual founder number:
Player Name Early Access Founder #0237
Instead of placing all 1,000 names inside a single monument or menu, we want these asteroids to become a natural part of the Ore Bastards universe.
They would be distributed across three regions in the first sector, scattered within several thousand pixels of the region gates. Their locations would remain permanent and would never change between games.
Players searching for their own asteroid would need to explore the assigned region for a few minutes. We hope this turns the memorial into a small discovery experience—and perhaps encourages players to encounter the names of other early supporters along the way.
Memorial asteroids would:
Remain permanently in the same location
Display the submitted player name
Be indestructible
Contain no mineable resources
Never become mission targets or interfere with the economy
Exist independently of normal procedural asteroid generation
No Early Access founder will be accidentally processed into iron ore. That would be a rather unfortunate thank-you gift.
Participation would be voluntary. Players who own Ore Bastards during Early Access would be able to submit the name they want displayed through a dedicated Steam discussion thread.
Submitted names would need to follow basic community rules, and participants would be giving us permission to display the selected name permanently inside the game. Players could use their Steam name or another suitable nickname if they prefer not to use a real name.
Once accepted, each participant would receive a founder number and the region containing their asteroid—but not its exact coordinates. Finding it would remain part of the adventure.
Before we begin building the system, we would love to hear what the community thinks.
Would you enjoy having your name permanently placed somewhere in the Ore Bastards universe? Should the asteroids include individual titles, discovery messages, or other small details?
Share your ideas with us in the Steam discussions. If the community likes the concept, we plan to open applications for The First Thousand within the next 4–5 days.
The Ore Bastards universe is only beginning to grow—and we would love for its earliest explorers to leave a permanent mark among the stars.
During the first day of Early Access, no game-breaking issues were reported to us. The adjustments below were made in response to player feedback, with the goal of improving clarity, usability, and the overall design of several systems.
The Load Insurance Record option on the destruction screen is now fully functional.
Distress Call information now explains that a response may take up to 150 seconds and that the rescue ship must physically return to the nearest station.
Rescue-screen ESC instructions have been corrected.
The Load screen now clearly indicates that saving and insurance synchronization are available only while docked at a space station.
All new and revised interface messages have been localized into all 11 supported languages.
Stations with identical names in the same region now receive numbered identifiers, such as Service Dock 1 and Service Dock 2, making mission destinations easier to distinguish.
Existing save files are automatically updated to use the revised station naming system without affecting missions, station data, or player progress.
Thank you to everyone who shared feedback and helped us make these systems clearer and more player-friendly.
ORE BASTARDS, an action-packed game focused on exploration and mining across an infinite universe, is now available to play in Early Access!
As you journey through Ore Bastards, you will experience fast and satisfying action, highly detailed ship customization, deep mining and mission systems, ruthless pirates waiting to steal the precious ore in your cargo hold, friendly miners ready to help others in distress, and countless mysteries waiting to be discovered in deep space.
Before you start playing, you may also want to take two or three minutes to read our Official Guide. It will help you get familiar with the game’s core systems and begin your journey with a much smoother start:
We are launching the game in Early Access because we want to include feedback from our players before giving the game its final shape.
Listening to our players, discussing their ideas, and bringing the best suggestions into the game are important parts of our development philosophy. Please feel free to share your ideas and suggestions in the dedicated thread on the Steam forums. We read every message carefully and will do our best to incorporate as many great ideas as possible.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will begin releasing new features that we want to include before the full release. We are also very excited to hear your suggestions throughout this process. https://steamcommunity.com/app/4866000/discussions/0/572669660098570270/
Even in its current state, the game already contains enough content for hundreds of hours of play. We cannot go into too much detail without spoiling the surprises, but hundreds of different adventures are waiting for you: battling pirates, discovering new mining regions, finding hidden bases in deep space, rescuing people drifting through the void in escape pods, protecting miner ships under attack, and completing long and dangerous cargo missions between distant stations.
Every part of the universe is built around carefully designed procedural systems. This means that an adventure you have already experienced will never unfold in exactly the same way again.
By the way, did we mention that the game universe is infinite?
Please do not do anything crazy like trying to discover where the map ends. You may never find your way back. : )
Then again, even we do not know what kinds of discoveries might be waiting for you as you travel farther and farther into infinity.
And while playing, don’t forget to press P and try OREAMP, the music player we designed especially for Ore Bastards. We are sure long-time WINAMP users will love this little surprise.
After all, space mining without music is simply unthinkable, isn’t it?
We designed Ore Bastards to be a game that we would genuinely enjoy playing ourselves. After all, we are players too. We would be incredibly happy to have you join us and experience this journey together. We would also be very happy if you followed our Steam developer page and social media accounts. They are the easiest way to stay up to date with announcements, updates, and news about all Indielligent games.
