Fixed bug where Deep Cleanse was really weird with Bag of Baby Carrots, Stix, and Dumpling

Fixed bug where individual Baby Carrots would count towards customer requests for Bags of them
Fixed bug where selling Shrink Ray wouldn't update max helper number
Hello chefs!
Our latest update fleshes out the Fungi category by giving them a unique new scoring mechanic! This mechanic has been in the works since before the EA release and we're super excited to add a new way to play with your food!
We've added 10 ingredients utilizing this new mechanic and further expanding what's possible for the Fungi lovers out there. Plus this Onion Ring that's been laying around in the project files for over a year...
We also wanted to give love to another underexplored tag: the LARGE ingredients. Some of our new ingredients and helpers either manipulate the size of ingredients, or score pts for the big boys.
Rounding out the content update, we've added 7 new helpers interacting with Fungi or Large ingredients.
Plus 6 new achievements related to the new ingredients!
With this update, we feel that each of the Primary tags is fleshed out enough to have viable builds. We've still got a few more updates planned and we're doing our best to ensure each of them adds new build possibilities without needlessly bloating the ingredient pool.
We're constantly inspired by ideas from our community on Discord! So please keep letting us know what you want to see more of! Are there any tags you want us to focus on? Any mechanics that you love and think we could apply in new ways? Please keep the ideas coming, it helps us a ton!
In case you missed it, we recently put out a demo for our next game - BIG DIG! It's a quick ~30 minute experience setting up the story of Mayor Dog's election campaign. If you enjoyed the narrative/art/vibe of Omelet You Cook, please check it out and let us know what you think!
That's all for this update! We're excited to see what you chefs can do with the new mechanic!
Happy cooking,
-Schu & Hjalte
new circle placement scoring mechanic
10 new ingredients
7 new helpers
6 new achievements
new weeklies
Reworked Donut to use circle scoring mechanic
After 10 Dispenses, they show up as a consolidated number instead of an uncountable ever expanding mess
Fixed bug where Trick or Treat helper caused soft-lock
Fixed bug where "More Weeklies" button was hidden when abandoning a Weekly run
Other minor bug and typo fixes
Hello chefs!
It's time for our first major update of the post-1.0 era! For this update we wanted to flesh out some niches we felt were lacking and introduce a long-promised major feature!
In the omelet selection screen, you can now replay any weekly pantry whenever you want! There's currently 27 such pantries, so we've more than tripled the number of available starter pantries. It should be pretty easy to cycle through them and find one that looks interesting. To incentivize you, we've added a couple achievements for completing Weeklies.
For those of you chasing the 100% Catalogue completion achievement, this should help you track down some missing customers and ingredients. We've got 25 more weeklies to add so if there's any boss customer you want us to guarantee or any fun helper/ingredient combinations, please let us know and they might make it into the game!
In terms of content, we wanted to focus on fleshing out the Seafood and Wiggly categories even further. There were previously no Wiggly ingredients that came in groups of 2+ in the shop, which made Octopus Leg a bit useless. Now we've got a new type of wiggly that just flop in place a bit but comes with some great scoring potential! Plus some more mult-providers that should help create more ridiculous strategies!
Another reason we wanted to focus on Seafood is because we only had 1 Seafood-related helper previously! That's fixed now along with some more helpers that convert tags, since that's a design space we're very curious to explore. Please let us know which of these new helpers is your favorite and what you want to see more of!
In case you missed it, we've been running several brackets on our Discord to determine the most beloved ingredient in Omelet You Cook! Join us on Discord to participate and vote for your favorite!
Another major objective for this update was to rebalance and address some of the most common frustrations y'all have brought to our attention. In particular, we've made Scissors (and therefore the Wrapped pantry) much easier to unlock. More details in the patch notes. (Note you may need to unlock them again but it'll be much quicker this time!)
We've also added 7 new achievements because Principal Clucker disdains chefs celebrating their 100% completion. So get cooking, keep sharing those Ws, and we'll keep moving the goalposts!
We still have a lot more planned for Omelet You Cook, and all your feedback is incredibly helpful! Please keep sharing what delights and frustrates you, and any ideas you have for new content you want to see!
Happy cooking, chefs!
-Chef Schu
Replay any Weekly Run whenever you want!
There's currently 27 Weekly Pantries which means we've more than tripled the number starting pantries available!
We'll need to make 25 more so if you have any requests for ingredients/helpers to build pantries around, please feel free to suggest them!
9 new ingredients
8 new helpers
7 new achievements
New Minimalist music track
Helper Rarities have been rebalanced to reach a more balanced distribution. Previously the majority of helpers were Rare and there were very few Common or Uncommon. We've adjusted it so that generally Commons are simple and useful in almost any build, Uncommons are more specialized but still simple, and then Rares are more complex or contain multiple effects. The new distributions are as follows:
Common: 10 (was 6)
Uncommon: 28 (was 10)
Rare: 28 (was 41)
Legendary: 30 (was 27)
Mythic: 8 (unchanged)
The following Helpers are now Common (instead of Uncommon):
Extendo Top Hat
Doggie Treat
Infinite Mystery Box
Piggy Bank
The following Helpers are now Uncommon (instead of Rare):
Union Delegate
Emergency Egg
Chatterbox Kevin
An Expiring Feast
Travel Trash Dog
Pillow of Softness
Chew Toy
Crunchwrap Supreme
Processing Factory
Baker's Mitt
Cornucopia
Tenderizer
Salad Spinner
Jimmy Jar
Mushroom Grow Kit
Market Basket now makes Raw crates more common in the shop
Soy Sauce Fish gained Seafood tag
Soy Sauce Fish is unlocked by one of the new ingredients
Previously it was unlocked by Salmon, which now unlocks another new ingredient so you will need to re-unlock Soy Sauce Fish
Scissors are now unlocked by Pizza Pocket instead of Skewer
This unlock was one of the longest and most painful. It also unlocks one of the pantries so we decided to make it much easier. Now it's just Hash Brown -> Pizza Pocket -> Scissors
Again, you may need to reunlock it. Sorry about that, but it'll be better in the long run!
Another benefit is this should ensure chefs learn how to unwrap before they get Scissors
Plus we're rewarding your hard work with an achievement for unlocking Skewer!
Reworded Piggy Bank for clarity
Reworded the Founder/Finisher to say "to the ingredient taken first/last" (instead of to each)
Fixed bug where you could get a duplicate Legendary Helper from the take random choice
Fixed bug where bullies would bully ingredients that had lost their targeted tag (like a formerly Raw ingredient that's been Baked by Hot Pot)
Improved in-game Steam links so they open the app rather than your browser
You can test it by Wishlisting Big Dig :D
Fixed bug where some descriptions (like Cash Register) had 2 spaces instead of 1
Fixed bug where stamps would be unstamped on reload
Fixed some typos, miscapitalizations
Decreased the price in Poland by 17% to match current currency conversion rates
Hello, chefs!
Today is a very happy day! We reached a milestone we never thought possible for our little omelet cooking game. 1,000 positive reviews on Steam! Thank you so much to every chef who's taken the time to leave a review, it helps the game reach more chefs!
Shortly after launch I made a promise to Hjalte and today that promise was kept. This video tells the story
We've also added Steam Community Items, including trading cards, badges, profile backgrounds, and more! You'll earn trading cards just for playing Omelet You Cook and you can spend Steam points or whatever they're called for some sick backgrounds and emotes.
Just look how beautiful this profile background is!
We also had time to put the demo back up on Steam! Go tell your friends to check it out!
Now that I have my own Steam Deck (shoutout Valve), I've made some improvements to Steam Deck. Firstly, touch screen now works as it should. Secondly, I've adjusted click-drop to be a bit more logical.
Hjalte and I will be taking the next couple weeks a bit easier. My main priority is fixing any bugs you report and listening to your feedback so I understand what I should prioritize for the coming updates.
Lastly, we're running a bracket to determine the MOST BELOVED ingredient amongst all chefs. Please join us on Discord and check out the poll channel to get involved. Since there's 144 ingredients, we'll be running March Madness-style brackets for each food category and then pit the winners of each category against one another to determine the ultimate champion.
Join us on Discord to vote for your favorite ingredient.
I'm convinced y'all are the nicest community on Steam. Thanks for supporting us, chefs! See y'all in March
Happy cooking,
-Chef Schu
Fixed touchscreen input
Improved click-drop input (try it out in the settings if you haven't!)
(Hopefully) fixed bug where pointer ingredients would lie, causing the score to be inaccurate
This one has plagued me for awhile so lemme know if you ever win/lose when the score says you shouldn't
Fixed bug where Unwrapped ingredients would rewrap themselves as the omelet slides out
Fixed bug where there was 1 frame delay for every helper when scoring
Fixed some bugs with new gambling helpers
Hello chefs!
Thank you so much for helping make our 1.0 launch a huge success! Hjalte and I are incredibly grateful to all the chefs who've played the game, left reviews, and gave us feedback on what you love and what you want to see improved.
We're thrilled to announce that in the week since the 1.0 launch, we've sold over 37,000 copies of Omelet You Cook! In the 7 months of Early Access we were thrilled to reach 14,000 copies sold, so this has really blown away our highest expectations!
Originally we planned to take a small break after fixing high priority bugs but seeing all the positive feedback coming in from new chefs who are genuinely enjoying our little game motivated us to squeeze in one small update as a way to show our appreciation!
The majority of new chefs are playing in a language other than English so we asked our translators to suggest some of their favorite ingredients for us to include in this update. We'll keep adding new ingredients over time, so please let us know what you'd like to see included in future updates!
Introducing 4 new ingredients with some unique new mechanics:
4 new helpers that add ingredient tags or have a random chance of giving Mult:
and 2 new customers!
There's also a fun new weekly pantry featuring some of the new content!
We've also been hard at work fixing bugs and tweaking the experience based on your feedback. So please, keep letting us know what you love, what frustrates you, and what you want to see more of!
We can't say thank you enough to all the chefs who've given this game a chance. Your support means we can keep doing what we love, and right now we really love working on Omelet You Cook!
Happy cooking,
-Chef Schu
4 new ingredients
4 new helpers
2 new customers
Wrapped ingredients now burn twice as fast
Jackfruit gives +4pts per distinct touching (instead of +2)
hopefully this is a bit more befitting of a Legendary now
Sticky pantry starts with 12 grapes (instead of 8)
With this pantry, one thing I want to test is whether it's interesting to start with a lot of an ingredient that's good once and then becomes dead weight
In general the 3 newest pantries are relatively untested and may be changed further. Please let us know what you think of them!
Nerfed Maggi (Minimalist + Shrinker + Decisive instead of Minimalist + Hungry + Decisive)
Minimalist will no longer appear in the first 8 rounds (instead of 2)
We've been hearing that Minimalist feels too punishing. We're hoping that nerfing Maggi (the biggest culprit) and guaranteeing they don't appear until late in runs helps negate how punishing they feel. We'll continue to listen and see if we need further adjustments
Carnivore and Vegetarian will no longer appear in the first 5 rounds (instead of 2)
Union Delegate and Loan Shark can no longer appear from taking random helper
Going forward, unfireable helpers will be excluded from random selections with the exception of Severance Package because it's dope
Wannabe DJ will no longer appear in Round 16+ for performance purposes
Raw Seaweed is Uncommon (instead of Common)
it just feels more Uncommony, right?
Chefs can no longer attempt the Weekly if they haven't unlocked the appropriate Apron
However, you still don't need to have all the ingredients of the Weekly unlocked
Added 4k screen resolution support
Sped up scene transition visual
We've been getting some reports that the transition has been straining on the eye. Hopefully simply speeding it up improves it, but please let us know if you're still experiencing this.
Fixed huge lag spike during omelet selection
To fix this, we had to remove the text showing the number of chefs on the leaderboard. Later we'll see if we can find a way to reintroduce this but the only easy way to get the number is to basically load all 10,000+ entries which caused the lag spike.
Sorry, we didn't expect to have so many chefs in the first week!
Fixed bug where tooltips were cut off on Steam Deck
Adjusted tooltips to always fit 9 on screen
soon we'll overhaul this to support greater than 9 (and improve the visuals a bit)
Fixed bug where chefs could steal multiple ingredients by dragging an ingredient to push 2 other ingredients on the conveyor together and then quickly push them both off the conveyor
To resolve this, ingredients on the conveyor no longer have collision
Fixed the "Chef" achievements for completing a pantry with all aprons (except Black)
You'll need to win any run to trigger your missing achievements
Fixed Mystery Meat unlock achievement
Fixed bug where Final Exam achievement didn't always trigger
Fixed bug where Known to All achievement didn't trigger if you hadn't served all the \
Fixed bug where Click-Drop input method was reset on non-English languages on reload
Fixed bug where clicking while pause/feedback menu is open advanced tutorial
Fixed bug where losing in endless after reloading wouldn't unlock next pantry
Fixed bug where dragging an ingredient that unwraps into new ingredient (Stix, Baby Carrots) would leave the cursor stuck in the "grabbed" state
Fixed Weekly Run text appearing Spongebobified
Fixed incorrect tooltip appearing on Trash Skip button
Fixed rendering order issue in final pantry
Fixed typos
Hey chefs!
Balance Changes
Replaced Brie with Goat Cheese in Scoochie Special
We were noticing chefs weren't unlocking starter pantries as quickly as we'd like. This change means you only need to score a bit with the common Cucumber to unlock this pantry
Brie gives 0.5x to Fruit instead of 0.4x
Since Fruit is more specialty than the Texture/Preparation tags, it makes sense to be a lil better
Bug Fixes
Improved wide screen support with wider backgrounds, catalogue, and Principal Clucker
Fixed various Lobster Claw bugs
reduced grab duration to 3 seconds (instead of 13???? How'd I let that slip through lol)
while grabbed, you can't click to reset the grab timer
while grabbed, tooltip won't frequently appear/disappear
added additional anticipation frame to make it more clear it'll grab ya
can't grab you during scoring
won't give you achievement for getting grabbed unless you actually get got
Fixed bug where you couldn't play Final Pantry after last patch
Fixed bug where one of the last omelets after beating the story was poorly positioned
Fixed Mayor Dog's hands
Probably fixed bug where Steam would never quit the game
Hey chefs!
Small day 1 patch here to fix a couple obvious issues. There's still some other issues we're working through and will probably have another patch or 2 over the coming days. In particular I'm aware the Wrapped pantry (specifically Corn and probably other pointers) is buggy.
Fixed bug where chefs could play Black Apron before beating the final pantry
This was an accident, sorry for those of you who "unlocked" Black Apron who will no longer have access. The intent is that you earn the right to play the highest difficulty after beating the story. Feel free to use the "Unlock All" feature if you really want to jump ahead
Fixed bug where game would soft lock after runs when losing on Round 13/14 of the Clucker Pantry
Fixed some achievements that weren't hooked up properly
Added 1 last missing achievement to bring us to 99
Added text to omelet selection screen to make it more clear how the final pantry/apron is unlocked
Fixed tAkE RaNdOm oThEr text
But at least Hjalte made this sick meme from it:
We're relieved there weren't any critical issues on day 1! Thanks to everyone for reporting the issues you do find. Hope you're enjoying 1.0 as much as we are!
Happy cooking,
Chef Schu
Hello chefs!
Omelet You Cook 1.0 is available now!!! After 21 content updates over 7 months, we're so excited for you chefs to see what we've cooked for the full release!
1.0 introduces 4 new starter pantries including the final pantry where you will finally confront Principal Clucker himself. It also introduces the highest difficulty: Black Apron, which you can unlock by finishing the story.
Aside from story content, we've been giving some love to some screens that we felt were a bit too static.
All crates have custom backgrounds, and the ingredients now have particles corresponding to their rarity.
Everyone's favorite trash dog is even more excited to help eat your unwanted trash!
There's also 5 new helpers and a whopping 36 new achievements, including a bunch for unlocking ingredients at the end of long unlock branches. If you already have everything unlocked, you'll get a bunch of achievements after your first run.
If you've been cooking with us for a long time or you previously used the "Unlock All" feature, we'd highly recommend resetting your save data before you start your first run. This way you can have a fresh experience (and you're always welcome to use the reworked Unlock All feature that's non-destructive and allows you to still earn progress towards achievements).
We can't emphasize enough how incredible Early Access was for us. We wanted to look back and share some stats that we're incredibly proud of:
672 reviews, 99% positive
507 positive reviews over 111 days before our first negative review!
15,000+ copies sold
42,000+ outstanding wishlists (we only had 2,500 before launch!)
1,346 Discord members and counting
Hjalte and I worked incredibly hard throughout Early Access because we love working on Omelet You Cook and seeing you chefs have fun engaging with it. We averaged 3 content updates per month! Over 21 content updates here's some of what we added:
Turn Based Mode (originally only Green Apron had a static conveyor)
Endless Mode
Mid-Run Saving
Weekly Runs
Wrapped, Gold, Moldy, Flaming, Sticky and Wiggly mechanics
The Catalogue
92 new ingredients
46 new helpers
40 new customers
8 new starter pantries (plus 25 weekly pantries and counting)
80 new achievements
Steam Deck Verification
Localization into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Thai
tons of quality of life, visual and audio improvements, and bug fixes
We've done a lot, and we're far from finished! There's a few more features we know for certain we want to add like a draftable/random starter pantry, the ability to replay any weekly starter pantry, and of course more ingredients/helpers/customers. We're also working with our community to localize the game into more languages!
I'm sure we'll also discover some unresolved bugs and things we can continue to improve. Please join us on Discord and let us know what you want to see us work on next!
We're also excited to announce our next game: BIG DIG! It's based on a game jam entry we made back in August, and it'll be a nice lil side project for us while we continue working on Omelet You Cook. If you enjoy the charming characters and vibe of Omelet You Cook or you wanna support us, please Wishlist!
Thank you to every chef who's supported us throughout with positive reviews, constructive feedback, lively balancing discussions, idea brainstorming, and more. We feel incredibly grateful for the community we've built around Omelet You Cook. We're excited for 1.0 to help us reach even more chefs and to keep building on what has made this game special.
Thanks for cooking with us chefs. Let us know what you think of 1.0 over on Discord!
Happy cooking, -Schu and Hjalte
3 new starter pantries
a 4th new Final Story starter pantry containing the true ending
Black Apron
5 new helpers (including 3 Mythic)
36 new achievements
All leaderboards have been reset - have fun building the new ones!
When trashing, 5 ingredients are dispensed by default instead of 3
On Red/Black Apron, spending $1 just to get 3 items you want to keep felt incredibly frustrating. Now you should more reliably be able to trash something you actually want to trash and lose money for nothing less often.
The ingredient number in the pantry no longer goes down when trashing
This might be confusing at first for experienced chefs but it makes it more clear at a glance
Unlock All is now a non-destructive toggle. Meaning you can turn it on and off as you please, and you'll still earn progress towards truly unlocking ingredients and earning achievements.
We highly recommend not using this option so you gradually unlock more complex content, but we want to offer it for people who want to experience everything in a shorter timespan
Aprons reworked again
Blue has "Max 1 Dispense" instead of "no free trashing", and is 12 Rounds instead of 9
We found through playtesting that the no free trashing felt tougher so we saved it for Red Apron
Red has Max 8 Helpers instead of Max 12
This was done to further distinguish the aprons and provide a difficulty where making decisions on which Helper to keep feels more agonizing
All of these changes (and the introduction of Black Apron) are an effort to make each apron playstyle distinct. Some players felt it frustrating that Red Apron had become so restrictive but with these changes the Blue Apron should now feel much closer to that experience. These changes are mostly aimed at experienced chefs who want challenging runs while still preserving more chill experiences at lower level aprons.
Stats earned in Endless now count towards Catalogue stats and unlock progress
Some chefs were confused that they could score 100 pts with a Pineapple they got in Endless and the catalogue still said they had 0. This was explained in-game but not clearly enough so I decided to just make it work how players expect
Moldy won't appear for first 3 rounds
Moldy customers give 35% chance of Moldy (instead of 40%)
Matches start burning/igniting other ingredients after a short delay after landing/being grabbed
Added tutorial step explaining how ingredients score + other minor tutorial tweaks
Helper Hater gives -1pts per reroll (instead of -2pts)
New Sunny animations
New trash screen
Each crate now has distinct backgrounds during ingredient selection
New particles for crate, helper, and ingredient selection
New Sticky particles
Updated some old pre-Hjalte helpers
Updated Processed tag icon
Added alternate Principal Clucker quotes for losing in endless
Added visual effect for firing helpers
Added animation for Severance Package
Lobster Claw follows cursor less rigidly when grabbing it
New credits screen
New music tracks, each customer trait now has a unique track!
New SFX for fools gold
New SFX for selecting legendary helpers
Different SFX for losing money, getting bullied
Better thunderstorm ambience
Added some missing button SFX, new SFX for changing menu tabs
Added support for Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Traditional Chinese
We'll be working with our community on new languages soon. Join the Discord to get involved!
Fixed bug where your save data could get deleted
Fixed bug where game could softlock during transition to shop
Fixed bug where chefs could steal ingredients from the trash screen
Fixed Mysterious Flash Drive so it does what it says
Fixed bug where everyone earned Weekly Run achievement for completing any run
Fixed bug where Wrapped ingredients wouldn't go transparent off omelet
Fixed bug where losing on the last round could count as a victory for various achievements
Fixed bug where FPS would drop when new music started playing
Abandoned runs are now submitted to the leaderboard
Maybe fixed bug where transition screens lagged
Fixed lag in omelet selection screen by resetting leaderboards
We'll have an actual fix for this later since it will be a problem again in the future
Heads up we will be temporarily disabling the demo while we focus on the 1.0 build. We'll put it back up in about a week when we have time to get it updated with all the 1.0 changes and fixes.
Hello chefs!
Less than a week until Omelet You Cook leaves Early Access! We couldn't be more excited to share what we've been working on. We got kind of addicted to doing all these updates, so we wanted to drop one more before the big 1.0 on February 8th.
Okay but don't get too excited, all the new content and the ending will come later. The main purpose of this update is to make the game available in the following languages:
Simplified Chinese
Traditional Chinese
Japanese
Korean
Thai
We've been working hard to get the game working with these 5 languages and with the help of our wonderful community we're working on more languages that will come sometime after 1.0!
Aside from multiple language support, observant chefs might notice some more changes to the apron balancing, lots of little quality of life changes, and critical bug fixes. We'll save all the patch notes for 1.0 so feel free to poke around and discover for yourself.
We'll be going live with Omelet You Cook 1.0 on February 8th at 10am PST / 1pm EST / 6pm UTC. If you want to help make our launch as successful as possible, please consider doing any of the following:
Leave a review
Tell your favorite content creators about the game
Play the game on February 8th, maybe we can hit our all time peak!
Let us know if you find any new bugs
Thank you for all your support. We love this game and we hope you chefs are as excited for 1.0 as we are :)
Happy cooking, -Schu and Hjalte
Hello, chefs!
Check out our silly release date announcement teaser: After 7 months of Early Access, we're thrilled to announce that Omelet You Cook will launch into 1.0 on February 8th! That's less than 2 weeks away already!
So, what's planned for 1.0? The biggest addition is a few new starter pantries including a final confrontation with Principal Clucker that concludes the story of Omelet You Cook.
As a sneak peek, I'll reveal one image we've shared on our Discord. Any guesses who this could be?
We're also excited to announce that the game will be translated into Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Traditional Chinese on launch!
We've been working with our community on some other languages as well, which will be added after 1.0.
We've been having a ton of fun cooking on this game with our community and that will continue beyond 1.0. We still have a lot of plans including a draftable starter pantry, replaying any weekly starter pantry, and of course even more ingredients, helpers, and customers.
Lastly, we need to give you a heads up that the leaderboards will be reset once we launch into 1.0! The game has changed so much (and particularly the restrictions of each apron), that some scores are no longer achievable, at least not so easily. Cherish your scores while they last. We look forward to seeing you chefs fight it out on the new leaderboards soon!
And if you've won on Red Apron and want a fancy Early Access supporter role, you've got until February 8th to jump in and get it!
Get the Discord role
As always, we want to give a shoutout to all the chefs who played, left positive reviews, and gave us feedback throughout Early Access. We're so proud of this game and we truly couldn't have made it without the support of this community. We're super excited to give Omelet You Cook both a proper conclusion and a proper 1.0 launch.
That's all for today. Check back on February 8th to experience the full story of Omelet You Cook! Happy cooking chefs, - Schu and Hjalte
Shish Kebab gives +5 per Burnt as well
Fixed bug where ingredients could look like crab but not be crab
Fixed bug where locked crates would be lost when reloading during gameplay
Fixed bug where earning enough points with a locked ingredient (usually from a Weekly) wouldn't trigger Principal Clucker's dialogue
Fixed bug where 2 trashy embezzlers gave +$4 per trash
Fixed bug where embezzler gave money when taking free legendary reward
Fixed bug where baby carrots, stix, and honey drizzle could spawn with incorrect scale with non-default omelet size
Fixed bug where ingredients spawned from Haunted ingredients (Baby Carrots, Stix) weren't also Haunted but they said they were Wiggly but they weren't Wiggly
Fixed bug where discarded Haunted ingredients were visually Haunted but not Haunted at heart
Fixed a couple typos (Parmasean, Atomicly)
Hello chefs!
Hope you're having a nice start to 2026! Today we're fleshing out a tag that has long needed some love.
We've added 12 new Seafood ingredients, 4 of which are Wiggly in strange new ways!
These are some of the silliest ingredients we've added yet and we're excited to see how you use them!
Our composer, Gustaf Blix, added a few new musical tracks for our customers! If you hadn't noticed, each customer trait has a specific instrument they add to the music, and we're closer to each one being unique. You can now hover over customers in the catalogue to hear them!
Principal Clucker now has a bit more variety in what he says after each run.
We've made some very significant balancing changes and overhauls to the following systems:
Apron Difficulties
Ingredient Unlocks
Ingredient Rarities
Tutorial and New Player Experience
Plus tons of bug fixes and balancing adjustments. For full details check out the Patch Notes below.
Lastly, Principal Clucker has decreed this will be the final content update of Early Access. But fear not, we have a lot more planned for Omelet You Cook! In the near future we'll announce our 1.0 release date!
The forthcoming 1.0 update will focus on the introduction of Black Apron, as well as how you'll earn it - by finally confronting Principal Clucker himself.
Hjalte and I have been working incredibly hard throughout Early Access and especially now to make Omelet You Cook the best version of itself. I know there's still some bug fixes, quality of life, and major features that you chefs want and we intend to give you. 1.0 will not be the end of Omelet You Cook's development. We love working on it and we're very excited to give it a proper 1.0 release and to provide some closure to Principal Clucker's story.
Thank you to all the chefs who've played, gave feedback, reported bugs, and left positive reviews. If you have any feedback at all (especially on the balancing of the updated aprons), now is the best time to let us know either on Steam or in our Discord!
As always we'll take everything into consideration. Bigger features like a random/draft pantry and being able to play previous Weekly runs will come sometime post-1.0.
We should also mention that anyone with the Red Apron Certified role in our Discord will be converted to a role signifying their support during Early Access, so if you haven't claimed yours yet go get certified:
Get the role on Discord
Thanks for cooking with us, chefs. Enjoy the Seafood!
-Chef Schu

Blue now no longer provides free trashing (tho you can still pay $1 and get $1)
Red now only gives you a max of 1 Dispense from each shop
These changes are an attempt to make the difficulties a bit more distinct and make the game more difficult aside from just making numbers bigger.
The 1 Dispense limit is something we may reserve for Black Apron instead, but we wanted to test it before Black Apron. So please let us know how you feel about it!
Overhauled ingredient unlock system
82 out of 140 ingredients begin locked
The main purpose of this overhaul was to ensure new chefs don't get presented with overly complex ingredients
As such, you may need to unlock ingredients you previously could use
Overhauled ingredient rarities
I won't go over every change but generally we wanted a more balanced distribution:
Common: 30 (previously 19)
Uncommon: 48 (previously 47)
Rare: 42 (previously 49)
Legendary: 23 (previously 25)
Wiggly ingredients can now become Haunted as well
Sticky ingredients now prevent Wiggly ingredients from triggering
Tweaked tutorial structure
Added Wiggly tutorial + changed Wiggly Catalogue tip
Helper Buffs
Secret Seasoning: 30% chance to Moldy (instead of 40%)
Ingredient Reworks
Pepper Jack: added Spicy tag
Fishbone: changed Processed to Raw tag
Cauliflower: changed to +4 pts per Meat touching, -6 pts per Veggie touching
Chicken Leg: changed to +1 pts per Meat on omelet, -1 pts per Veggie on omelet
also 2 per crate (instead of 1)
Corn: changed to +2 pts per Raw pointed at
Chocolate Cake: changed to +2 pts per Sweet pointed at
Pumpkin Pie: changed to +2 pts per Baked pointed at
Corn Dog: changed to +3 pts per Root/Veggie pointed at (instead of Root/Meat)
Ingredient Buffs
Steak: added +2 pts to each Root touching
Glazed Ham: added +2 pts to each Fruit touching
Both of the above changes should make these large Meats better in more situations
Turkey: +4 pts per Root touching (instead of +3)
Grape: +6 pts (instead of +5)
Stix: +5 pts (instead of +4)
Sausage: +3 pts per Veggie touching (instead of +2)
Cheese Wheel: +0.3x to touching ingredients (instead of +0.2x)
Ingredient Nerfs
Parmesan: +0.2x to each ingredient pointed at (instead of +0.3x)
This has been an auto-pick ingredient so we wanted to reduce the power level slightly
Carrot: changed to +$0.25 per distinct ingredient pointed at
Green Onion: changed to +$0.25 per distinct ingredient touching this
These Roots have vastly outclassed others and are universally good. Again, we wanted to nerf them a tad to increase the comparative value of others
Garlic: changed to +$0.25 per 2 distinct ingredients on omelet (instead of per 1)
With the changes to Carrot/Green Onion, old Garlic would've been better in all situations so it also needed to be adjusted
In general we wanted to make it a little harder to earn tons of money each round. All of these nerfs impact ingredients that are good in every build to hopefully encourage chefs to take ingredients with more specific requirements so builds end up feeling more diverse.
Hopefully fixed bug where shop wouldn't reset sometimes
Please send your Player.log and screenshot if it happens, I've been unable to reproduce this
Fixed bug where ingredients could spontaneously lose/gain tags if they were a clone
Fixed bug where Endless scores could be submitted to non-Endless leaderboards
Fixed bug where Sir Pecks-a-Lot lost his top hat drip
Fixed bug where Customer Catalogue could have translated strings when it shouldn't
Fixed bug where scroll wheel didn't work in Catalogue
Fixed bug where sometimes Aprons didn't unlock when they should
Fixed bug where ingredients could escape from trash conveyor belt through clever exploitation
Shoutout to the chef in our Discord who pointed this out yesterday
Fixed bug where Wiggly ingredients could keep wiggling on saved omelets
Happy Holidays, chefs!
We've got another exciting content update just in time for the holidays. For this update we wanted to expand on the Wrapped tag with new customers, helpers, and ingredients that play with it.
First we've got 8 new ingredients, some Christmas-y and some Wrapped-y.
Next we have 3 new helpers that should enable some unique new playstyles.
Furthermore we've added 4 new customers with the new Gift Wrapped trait. These customers can apply Wrapped to ANY ingredient, just in time for Middlesville Secret Santa!
And once again Principal Clucker has demanded 7 new achievements!
Aside from content we've also reworked the Legendary Helper selection to be a bit more dramatic!
We've also cleaned up some of the issues you discovered from the mid-run saves. The game now saves after every choice you make in the shop, so no more reloading to make different choices with new info.
Plus check out the new and improved title screen:
Omelet You Cook is currently on sale for 20% off as part of the Steam Winter Sale. Afterwards to reflect the amount of content and work we've put into it, we'll be raising the price to $15 USD. This will be the final price as we get closer to a product we feel is ready for a 1.0 release (date TBD). This will be the cheapest you can get the game for awhile so tell your friends it's a great time to start cooking!
Wanna know what it's been like developing Omelet You Cook? Hjalte and I joined a great podcast where we shared some of our silly stories from development:
Happy holidays, chef!
-Chef Schu
8 new ingredients
3 new helpers
4 new customers
New Gift Wrapper customer trait
Run is saved after each decision in shop
When Wrapped Flaming ingredients burn, the wrapper dissolves to reveal the unwrapped ingredient
Reworked legendary helper selection screen
Reworked title screen
Changed unwrap sound effect
Flaming ingredients can't become extinguished on the conveyor belt
Locked crates/helpers are saved properly
Save data is deleted after pressing "Quick Restart" after a victory (since you opted out of Endless)
Ingredients that score 0 say "+0 pts" again instead of being blank
Fixed bug where individual Candies didn't count towards Candy catalogue data
Fixed bug where Piggy Bank could gain more than +$3 per round due to save data shenanigans
We've swapped out every line of text in the game and begun the process of translating it into several new languages. If you speak another language and would like to get involved, please join us on Discord. Note: The game is still English-only for now. In the near future once we've had some first pass translations in other languages we'll open up a beta branch to switch languages.
Hello chefs!
This week's update is all about the CUSTOMERS! We've added 14 new customer portraits: 3 brand new customers and 11 existing customers got a makeover, so every customer now has a unique portrait.
4 of these customers were voted for in the latest Discord poll. Which one are you most excited to see?
A couple of these customers have the new Bully trait which means they snatch a dollar from you every time you take an ingredient with a specific tag.
Additionally, the customers will line up and hold their plates during Principal Clucker's omelet inspection.
But this update isn't just about the customers in the game, it's also about the customers of the game! We've added 2 of the most highly requested features: mid-run saves and an info tab in the catalogue.
Your current run is now saved at the start of each round and the start of each shop. So when you've got a long endless run and it's time for bed you can feel free to exit and continue some other time!
Thank you to the chefs in our Discord who helped playtest the beta branch! It's likely we might've missed some bugs or exploits so if you notice anything weird please let us know via the in-game form, the Steam forums, or on Discord.
We've added a 4th tab in the Catalogue that shows tips for each of the major mechanics in the game. This should be a helpful reference if you can't quite remember the initial popups or want a slightly more in depth explanation. Let us know if you'd like to see anything else added here!
We've also added 3 new achievements.
Lastly we've made quite a few quality of life changes and balance adjustments you can check out below.
Happy cooking, chefs!
-Chef Schu
New Bully customer trait
3 new customers
11 updated customer portraits
Mid Run Save Data
Catalogue now has an Info tab with descriptions of major features
Let us know if you think of anything we missed!
3 new achievements
Pantry ingredients/helpers are hoverable during scoring so you can review how they score
Scoring tooltips are nested at bottom of screen
Now you can take screenshots that show both the total score and 1 hovered ingredient
Adding pulsing color when you have a locked apron selected (so you know why it's locked)
Game is playable on controller (not recommended but works similarly to Steam Deck)
Haunted Trait: each ghosts takes 4 seconds longer than the previous ghost to spawn
This should help make things more manageable in endless runs
Ascetic Trait: won't appear on first round
Vegetarian and Carnivore Traits: won't appear in first 2 rounds
All customers are available in any given run
previously there were 4 customers that only appeared as boss Teachers on Green Apron
Ribs are now Sticky
BBQ makes Meat ingredients Sticky
Honey Glazer makes Vegetable ingredients Sticky (instead of Meats)
In an effort to make legendaries more valuable we rebalanced the following Legendary Helpers:
Stir Fry Specialist
Added "+0.2x to each Seafood per Veggie touching"
Comfort Cook
Added "+0.2x to each Root per Meat touching"
Charcuterie Chef
Added "+0.2x to each Dairy per Fruit touching"
Softie Chef
Added "+0.2x to each Soft per Crunchy touching"
Crunchwrap King
Added "+0.2x to each Crunchy per Chewy touching"
Chewy Champion
Added "+0.2x to each Chewy per Soft touching"
Helper Hater
Added "Decrease by -2pts each time you reroll"
This helper was insanely overpowered with some chefs reaching +80 to every ingredient if they earned enough money. We try to avoid nerfing but something had to be done. This is my attempt at allowing it to scale without letting chefs endlessly hire + fire in a single shop
Customers now hold their omelets during omelet inspection
Occupation of Managers is shown
Occupations are shown in catalogue
Ingredients in crates follow your cursor
New art for Root & Fruit Finesser
Fixed bug where Sticky Jimmy didn't give full buff to ingredients like Steak that want to touch a specific tag
Fixed bug where slider SFX would play on start at full volume
Fixed bug where discarded ingredients still counted as "on side"
Hello chefs!
It's a long shot compared to all the other behemoths on Steam but if you've been enjoying Omelet You Cook we'd love your nomination for the Steam Awards, particularly in the following categories:
Outstanding Visual Style
Most Innovative Gameplay
Sit Back and Relax
We hope you're enjoying the latest Thanksgiving Update, chefs! Thanks for cooking with us.
-Schu and Hjalte
Happy Thanksgiving, chefs!
For today's patch notes I'm gonna start with the thing that all great online recipes do where I share a personal story. If you wanna skip ahead to content, feel free to scroll past.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Every year my sister (who came up with the name for Omelet You Cook) hosts Thanksgiving at her wonderful home (filled with dogs like Sunny and Brother btw!). She started it in her college days for people who didn't have nice family homes to return to, and it's continued on for over a decade now. After moving away from the US it's the only holiday I truly miss.
Part of what makes it so special for me is a little tradition where we go around the dinner table and everyone shares what they're thankful for. It's very cheesy and sappy and vulnerable and I love it. Since I'm not home for Thanksgiving I wanted to take a moment here to say how grateful I am for everything and everyone that's lead to the success of Omelet You Cook.
I'm grateful for my sister, my parents, my brother, and my friends who've supported and encouraged and believed in me for all the years I was making things before there was proof I could do this for a living. I'm grateful for all my game dev friends at Spelkollektivet, Stugan, and Ludokultur who've helped immensely by sharing their game dev journeys with me. I'm grateful for Hjalte who's the best bidness partner I could've asked for, and for Mareike, Nico, and Gus who've made incredible contributions to the game.
I'm grateful to Wholesome Games for featuring us, to NorthernLion and all the other streamers who showed the game to their audiences, and to all the game studios who've bundled with us. I'm extremely grateful to all 12,000+ chefs who've bought the game, to the 530+ who took the time to leave a review, and the 1,100+ chefs in our Discord!
Every step of developing Omelet You Cook has surpassed my expectations. That's partly due to luck, partly due to our hard work, and mostly because of all you chefs who've supported us, reported bugs, recommended the game to friends, and helped make Early Access so fun. Y'all are far too kind and we appreciate you <3
Anyways, we added 4 new ingredients!
Plus 3 new big-number-enabling Legendary helpers (and Hjalte absolutely cooked on the art for these).
We also finally got around to overhauling our menus, including a new Pause Menu.
And we finally added some proper art to the Settings Menu, as well as refining the existing settings. We even added a new "Unlock All" option for chefs who just want to see everything right away.
There's also some balance changes and bug fixes you can check out in the patch notes below.
We're gonna hold a poll to determine which animal customer y'all wanna see in the next update.
Join our Discord to vote on a new Customer!
If you're inspired, feel free to share what you're thankful for this year. Better yet, tell the people around you how much you love and appreciate them.
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for cooking with us, chef!
-Chef Schu
Menu Overhaul
New Pause Menu (accessed via esc/start button or via the icon in top right during runs)
Settings menu looks nice now
(We had to change the backend of the Settings. If anything doesn't work for you as it did before please let me know!)
Added an "Unlock All" button
4 new ingredients
3 new helpers
Egg Shells and Chocolate Coins now fall from the sky like Matches
Chocolate Cake, Graham Cracker, Meatball, Sun-Dried Tomato, and Beef Jerky are now Baked
Rock Salt is now Raw
All of the above were previously Processed, which is heavily overrepresented compared to Raw/Baked. This helps bring them closer in line with 38 Raw, 33 Baked, and 49 Processed. Future updates will continue to bring these more in balance
Cloning Vat is now Rare instead of Legendary
Going forward we want Legendary helpers to be your primary source of scaling. Cloning Vat doesn't directly let you scale and is also fun + enables cool builds so we want it to be more available
Chocolate Cake now gives -1 per Vegetable on omelet
This is an attempt to add a little nuance and identity to Cakes/Pies
Turned off the parallax camera effect in the shop
Weekly Run now shows an indicator if you haven't attempted it at least once
Weekly Run now stays selected if it was your last played run
Updated Chocolate Bar with BRIX logo
Updated Chocolate Cake to be bigger
Updated Grape to be more grapular
Fixed bug where mouse would drift with certain hardware
Fixed bug where Honey Glazer didn't give points
Fixed bug where Oranges/Lemons/Limes lied about their scores
Fixed bug where you always got Middlesville King Arthur achievement after a Drizzler customer
Fixed bug where Dark Medallion only scored 1 per Legendary (instead of the stated 2)
Fixed bug where Weekly Run could show trophy even if you hadn't beaten it yet
Fixed bug where Lollipop pointer pointed at the wrong angle
Fixed bug where Helper Hater still had old red FIRED text
For chefs that read this far I also wanna mention that mid-run saving is on the way! I'm expecting to have it fully implemented by the end of the year. In the coming weeks I plan to open up a beta in our Discord for chefs that wanna help us iron out any remaining bugs.
Hello chefs!
Looks like we've got ourselves in a sticky situation, chefs. Principal Clucker has introduced 6 new Sticky ingredients that will, as their name suggests, stick to other ingredients and form one massive cluster.
We've also added 3 new Sticky-related helpers.
And of course with new mechanics comes new customers: 3 new Drizzler customers who drizzle a bit of immovable Sticky honey on your omelet.
Yet again Principal Clucker demanded we prod the completionists with 2 new Sticky achievements:
Go check it all out in our latest Weekly Pantry and let us know what you think!
Lastly, we must acknowledge that we just reached the OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE mark on Steam thanks to 500+ positive reviews! And we're somehow still 100% positive, which is absolutely absurd!
Thank you to every chef who's bought the game, left a review, gave us feedback or encouragement, and recommended the game to their friends. It's truly a pleasure making this game for such a kind and supportive playerbase. It's easy for us to stay excited working on all these updates knowing how much it's resonating with y'all. Thank you for your support, chefs!
Thank you and happy cooking, chefs!
-Schu and Hjalte
new Sticky ingredient tag
6 new ingredients
3 new helpers
new Drizzler customer trait
3 new Drizzler customers
2 new achievements
Honey Comb rework: +1 per touching and +0.5x to each Meat touching, Rare instead of Legendary
Pyromanic customer trait can only spawn 1 matchstick per dispense
Some clever chefs were making matchsticks score points and therefore were incentivized to play as slow as possible to maximize the number of matchsticks on the omelet. Well played but Prinicipal Clucker was not pleased.
Tweaked Haunted customer trait:
Can't appear in Turn-Based mode
Ghosts spawn every 10-20 seconds instead of 8-12
Max 1 Ghost at a time
Ghosts expire after 20 seconds if they fail to haunt something
Dark Medallion: +2 per pts Legendary helper instead of +1
Banana: Added +2 pts
Now it can score on it's own without requiring other ingredients/helpers to buff it
Reduced Jalapeno/Chili unlock thresholds from 30 to 21
"OnFire" has been renamed to "Flaming" and has different text effect
We've been hearing from some new chefs that Firing and OnFire were confusing, with phrases like "increase Fire value" being ambiguous. Therefore we made this change to distinguish the 2 mechanics more
All references to "Firing" helpers has a different text effect and color
We went with green to help make it clearer this interacts with your money and not Flaming
Shop has an animated background and subtle camera movement
Honey Comb has new art
Fixed critical bug where ingredients could become invisible on runs with Fools Gold
Fixed bug where gold ingredients didn't shine in Catalogue
Fixed bug where the catalogue filter icon could disappear
Fixed bug where some ingredients (such as Banana) could display long digits (such as +0.999999x)
Fixed bug where Flaming tutorial wouldn't appear for Pyromaniac customers
Fixed bug where Candy could appear as an entire group on title screen and from tin cans
Fixed bug where ingredients from tin cans on title screen weren't removed properly
Fixed click-drop input
Fixed bug where 2nd Stix ingredient had wrong collider
Hello, chefs!
We're thrilled to announce that 10,000 chefs have purchased our silly little cooking game! And we're still maintaining an unprecedented 100% positive review score! Thank you so much for all your support, it's been a pleasure developing this game and we're very excited for the upcoming updates we have planned.
We're also pleased to announce that we're now officially Steam Deck Verified! The game should play much smoother on your favorite handheld device now.
To celebrate this huge milestone we'll be on sale for 20% off for the next couple weeks! Tell your friends it's time to cook!
And if you haven't already, please consider leaving a review as we grow ever closer to the fabled 500-review threshold for Overwhelming Positive to grace our store page!
Thanks for cooking with us, chefs.
-Schu and Hjalte
Happy Halloween, Chefs!
We've got a spooky update filled with tricks, treats, and the ghost of the most hated ingredient!
Introducing 3 new ingredients, one of which is 2-in-1 and another that's actually 5 distinct ingredients!
Plus 2 new helpers, one of which is featured in the latest Weekly Challenge.
And 3 new Haunted customers.
Lastly, we've reworked the input system to provide better support for controller input: specifically to get the game working much smoother on Steam Deck!
Rotate/Select Ingredients - Bumpers, D-Pad, Backside Buttons
Grab Ingredients - RT, A
Move Cursor - Touchpads, Joysticks
Open Feedback - Select
Open Settings - Start
With that we can now apply for fully Verified Steam Deck status! If you play on Steam Deck we'd love to hear what you think after playing over on Discord!
Happy Halloween, chefs!
-Chef Schu
3 New Ingredients
2 New Helpers
New Haunted Customer Trait
3 New Haunted Customers
New Halloween-themed Weekly
Reworked input to better support controller
Created official Steam Deck layout
This should install automatically and feel more natural. We've now added multiple buttons for grabbing/rotating/selecting ingredients and you can move the cursor with joysticks.
Can open/submit feedback on Steam Deck now
Please feel free to give feedback if you think this could be improved further!
Mayor Dog art tweaked to be more serious. He's a businessman afterall
When purchasing new avocados in the shop, all existing avocados refresh to their full value
Fixed critical bug where game would crash on certain devices
Fixed bug where Pyromaniac customers could cause ingredients to burn during scoring
Fixed bug where catalogue ingredient filter icon wouldn't be positioned correctly on start
Fixed bug where Screwdrivers didn't earn $1 on side
Fixed bug where no achievements would trigger
Ingredients can be invisible
Ingredients can appear Moldy/Gold/etc but not actually
I'm still investigating these issues and finding them tricky to reproduce, but I hope to have them fixed in the next patch. If you notice any patterns or have any theories feel free to share them on Discord!
Hello chefs!
It's a great day for Sunny because we've reworked his beloved Minerals! We've added 7 new minerals and tweaked existing ones to help establish the identity of the Mineral tag. As part of this rework, all Minerals now trash for $2 instead of $1 by default.
As a result, Tin Cans no longer gain extra money from trashing since their Mineral tag inherently does so. Instead, every Tin Can contains a random ingredient that'll pop out when placed on the omelet!
To help you find these new Minerals, Sir Pecks-a-Lot has added 2 new crates to the shop: a cheap Mineral crate and Trash Bag Bundle, which contains 2-5 Trash Bags but gives you a dollar!
We've also added 2 new helpers: one to help nullify the negative points of Minerals and another that gives good mult but decreases with each Dispense gained.
Finally, there's 4 new customers available with a new Trashy trait that permanently adds a Trash Bag to your pantry on restock. Wait, is that Sunny the Trash Dog?
We've been seeing chefs celebrating getting every achievement, so to punish your boasting Principal Clucker has added 5 new achievements.
We've also made some changes following the Endless Update. First and foremost, we've been doing a ton of optimizations to improve performance in the late game. It should be much better, but please let us know if you're still experiencing poor performance.
We've been seeing chefs consistently get to Round 25+ before failing (usually due to performance, sorry!) We love that you can get that far but we want to ensure that Endless Mode remains engaging and challenging throughout and we're seeing most chefs blow past thresholds between rounds 12-20.
So we've decided to ramp up target thresholds quite drastically in Endless Mode. This will hopefully make the Endless experience more engaging and let you max your build before you get tired of it. As always, please let us know how you feel about these changes over on Discord!
Next week's challenge will be built around one of the newest Minerals. Want to decide which one? Join our Discord to cast your vote!
Vote for the next Weekly!
Happy cooking, chefs!
-Chef Schu

4 new Trashy customers

Tin Cans no longer give +$3 when trashed (just the +$1 for being Mineral)
Instead, when placed on the omelet they pop out any random ingredient
Charcoal and Tofu are Uncommon instead of Legendary
Charcoal is Burnt
Egg Shells, Wrenches, and Matchsticks can now appear in the catalogue and shop
Tweaked some ingredient unlocks
new price tag art

Significant Performance Improvements
Fixed bug where trashing a wrench mid-round would soft-lock the game
Fixed bug where game could soft-lock during scoring (I think, pls lemme know if you see this)
Hello chefs!
We hope you're ready for overtime because today we're dropping the long-awaited ENDLESS MODE!
Now when you win a run, you'll have the option to continue in Endless Mode. This means you can keep playing forever and ever (until you fail). With a quickly escalating target threshold, how far can you go?
Stats like points scored with ingredients won't be recorded in Endless Mode since they are considered ill-gotten gains, but there is a separate leaderboard for those big-number chasing chefs to compete for the biggest number.
In case you missed it earlier this month, we've added Weekly Runs that change every Tuesday! Tomorrow's run will feature a couple of the new ingredients plus the dreaded Loan Shark.
We've made a couple quality of life changes that we think you'll love! Underlappers and Garnishes now always remain on their layer, so you can easily adjust those lettuces and provolones without having to rearrange everything.
Plus, we've made ingredient selection more intuitive so it will always prioritize selecting the topmost ingredient hovered unless you manually select a different ingredient with QE/arrows/mouse wheel.
Now onto the content! We've added 4 new ingredients, bringing us to a total of 101 ingredients! (it was supposed to be 100 but Grapes and Rasins are technically different I guess)
It's always been our goal to reach 100 ingredients, and we're thrilled to be here! We wanted to ensure these new ones had unique mechanical identities and to accomplish that I had to do a painfully large overhaul of our existing ingredient code. As a result there may be some bugs I haven't spotted, please report them and I'll be fixing whatever pops up over the next couple weeks.
(Hjalte also had time to make some of the old sprites prettier and the avocado has a new effect)
We're also introducing 5 exciting new helpers! Some of these change value over time or buff a randomly chosen tag that changes each round.
We've also added one of the most highly requested features: being able to open the catalogue mid-run. Using the burger menu in the upper right, you can now double check what ingredients you need to progress unlocks or what ingredients might show up in any given crate.
Lastly for my fellow achievement hunters we've introduced 13 new achievements! Some of them relate to Endless Mode, some are for completing pantries, and some require you to overcome challenges a specific way. Let us know which ones are your favorites!
Thus marks our 2nd major update. With 12 total content updates over 4 months, Hjalte and I have been working hard delivering content to our loyal chefs! Now that we've reached the end of our clearly defined public roadmap, we'll be taking some time to recuperate and come up with a plan for upcoming updates.
There's still some important features we plan to introduce throughout early access (including mid-run saves, black apron, and of course more ingredients/helpers/customers). But we need your help! Tell us what features you want most! What frustrates you? Any new content you'd love to see?
We'll be listening to everything and discussing with our community here and on Discord to come up with an updated roadmap of sorts that we'll share in the coming weeks. If you have gripes with the game or strong desires now is the time to let us know!
Join the Discord to:
vote for upcoming Weekly Pantries
share your best runs
join dope free game giveaways
discuss with other chefs what you want from Omelet You Cook!
We're also on sale for 20% off! As noted on our roadmap, the price will increase slightly (to $12 USD) after this discount, so now is the cheapest it'll be for awhile! Go tell your friends to get it now!
Happy cooking,
-Chef Schu
Endless Mode
Separate leaderboards for every existing leaderboard, toggle in Omelet Selection screen
Open the Catalogue during runs (button in upper right)
4 new ingredients
Avocado has new effect, Cauliflower replaces old effect
This brings us to a total of 101 ingredients!
5 new helpers
13 new achievements
Underlappers/Garnishes will always stay on their assigned layer
No more accidentally clicking on that graham cracker and ruining your perfect S'more
This should help you extinguish burning fires since you can put them back more easily
When hovering ingredients, it will always prefer the topmost ingredient unless you manually select a different one (with Q/E, arrows, or mouse wheel)
It should feel much more intuitive which ingredient you have selected now. Previously if you hovered a lettuce and then hovered something overlapping it, the lettuce would stay selected
You can now always play the Weekly Run, even if you haven't unlocked the ingredients
Added tutorial for Fool's Gold
Tweaked Customer X animation (upon entering shop, showing you defeated the last customer)
The previous X that flashed the screen was straining for some users
Oranges/Lemons/Limes show their increased value in pantry tooltips now
Uploaded new demo build (v0.8.33)
Wannabe DJ no longer appears in Turn-Based mode
While it doesn't impose a time pressure, some users reported feeling dizzy or stressed from this customer trait. So now it will only appear in the more chaotic real-time mode.
Jackfruit and Watermelon now require touching
Previously, you could just throw them on the omelet without any consideration and score 10+ easily. Every high-scoring ingredient should require some consideration, either in deckbuilding or placement. This required neither and was therefore poorly designed.
Because they require touching now, their massive size is both a benefit and a detriment.
Meatball has 4 in create instead of 5
Slight nerf to meatball builds so you need multiple crates/copies to really pop off
Increased target thresholds on later rounds of Red Apron slightly
New art for Cabbage, Celery
New art for Gordak the Burninator
Fixed bug where you'd still get random ingredients after firing Mystery Box
Fixed bug where Sandra Squeaker didn't work
Fixed bug where GO button wouldn't appear in shop when trashing quickly
Fixed bug where Red Onion wouldn't show that it earns money for touching another Red Onion
Fixed bug where game didn't pause while catalogue open
Fixed Chanterelle typo
Fixed typo where "Random Helper" button from Crate o' Helpers said "ingredient"
Fixed bug where rounds tooltip wouldn't appear
Hello chefs!
We weren't planning on doing an update until the end of September, but we had these marshmallows laying around and we're honestly a bit addicted to all your kind words whenever we drop new content so here's the Mini S'mores Update!
This is a tiny update featuring 2 new ingredients, and 2 new helpers including a new Mythic for Scoochie Special.
What I'm most excited about is a feature we fast-tracked from our upcoming Major Update: Weekly Runs!
Every Tuesday, there will be a brand-new starter pantry! This starter pantry will come with a predetermined Mode and Apron, so everyone will be competing on the same leaderboard.
These Weekly Runs will provide a more focused leaderboard experience for you chefs out there with a competitive spirit. Since these are time-limited, we won't worry so much about balance and just make fun combos and/or unique challenges.
To showcase the new content, our inaugural Weekly starter pantry will of course be S'mores themed! Check back on September 23rd and every Tuesday for new Weekly Runs!
Lastly, we want to show you the new post-run summary screen. There's now stats highlighting your best ingredients, the time elapsed, money earned, your personal best score, and your leaderboard rank.
We also added a button to save a screenshot of your summary screen to Steam! We hope this feature lets you more easily share some of your favorite runs. We'd love to see some of your favorites on Discord!
Speaking of Discord, we'll be running a poll to determine the theme of the next Weekly Starter Pantry. Join now to decide what we're cooking next week! Vote Now!
We've also added some pretty neat quality of life improvements to help you understand all these wacky new tags more easily. See the patch notes for details.
We're hard at work on the 2nd Major Update, coming at the very end of September! See you then, chefs!
-Chef Schu
2 new ingredients (Marshmallow and Graham Cracker)
New WEEKLY starter pantry
Starting with a S'mores Pantry to showcase our newest ingredients
New Scoochie Special Mythic Helper
Same as Infinite Mystery Box, but also gives you extra ingredients to choose from while trashing so you have more control over your pantry
Infinite Mystery Box rarity changed to Uncommon
Post-Match Summary Screen Rework
Added stats for most used/highest scoring ingredients, time, $ earned, personal best and rank
Added screenshot button that saves summary screen to your Steam Library
We'd love to see your favorite builds! Come share them on Discord!
Confetti particles don't overlap UI
Tweaked how ingredients are dispensed
In turn-based mode, the conveyor stops once all ingredients are centered
This is how it worked for both modes before
In real-time mode, the conveyor slows down as soon as they're all visible
This is new and will give you slightly more time to decide in real-time mode
Increased width that ingredients spawn on trash belt (so they're not so crammed together)
Reworked tooltip descriptions for tags so you know where points come from. Some examples:
"-1x to self (Wrapped)"
this ingredient is Wrapped and usually won't score on its own
"+5 pts (On Fire +3)"
this ingredient scores 2 on its own (like Bacon), and 3 from fire
-3 pts (Moldy)
Previously Lobster Mushroom just said -3 pts. Now it's clear it comes from the Mold
Added mid-game tutorials for Moldy, On Fire, and Wrapped
No customer requests on last round (since money doesn't matter)
Sous Chef Sharon (+1 dispensed ingredient) costs 4 instead of 5
Fixed bug where Atomically Condensed Milk (double mult for dairy) didn't work
Reworked Finisher helper
Fixed bug where it wouldn't apply if you have more dispenses than ingredients
Now if you ignore dispensed ingredients, it'll still apply to the last chosen ingredient
Particles are scaled properly on saved omelets displayed in post-match
Hello chefs!
2 weeks ago you voted on our Discord for the Spicy Hot Fire Update, and here it is! We've finally given some meaning to the Spicy tag and added 5 more Spicy ingredients to the catalogue (plus 3 non-Spicy ones). So what does Spicy do now?
Spicy ingredients start 🔥On Fire🔥, which means they'll score an extra 3 points at the end of the round. After some time, On Fire ingredients will start burning which spreads the fire to touching ingredients and eventually leads to them becoming Burnt, scoring a massive -10 points instead. But don't worry, you can give them a little shake to extinguish them.
We've also added 3 new Pyromaniac Customers who want to see a bit of chaos and will occasionally throw lit matches onto your omelets.
All of this can be experienced in a brand new Spicy starter pantry!
We've also made some quality of life adjustments you can check out in the patch notes. If you have ideas for more let us know!
Our next update will be the highly requested Endless Update, coming at the very end of September. We've got a long list of features we want to add to make the game even more replayable. As a reminder, here's our current roadmap. Your feedback and requests will help us fill it out in the coming months!
We're also running our first of many free game giveaways and some polls to figure out what content you've enjoyed most so far over on our Discord!
Enter the Giveaway!
We of course also need to acknowledge that thanks to you we've crossed 400 reviews and somehow still 100% positive! That's insane and we truly appreciate you chefs for helping us achieve that milestone. We'll be doing something big once we hit 500!
Thanks for cooking with us chefs,
-Chef Schu
8 new ingredients
new Spicy starter pantry
new Mythic helper
new Pyromaniac customer trait
3 new Pyromaniac customers
Added On Fire and Burnt tags
On Fire gives +3 pts
Burnt gives -10 pts
new Spicy crate available in shop
a secret new interaction?
Ingredient rotation is no longer dependent on framerate
Tutorial popups appear the first time you have a Spicy, Underlapper, or Garnish ingredient
We plan to add more of these and eventually other ways to help chefs remember what unexplained mechanics do without being overwhelming or repetitive
Mold, Gold, On Fire, and Burnt tooltips explain in parentheses when points come from that tag
Added slight delay to "Continue" button in shop so you don't click it before seeing the options
Forks and Matchsticks can't spawn during the last chance timer
Banana
"+1 pt per 2 ingredients in discard" changed to "+0.1x per ingredient in discard"
Added Wrapped tag
Chili
"+1 pt per ingredient on omelet" changed to "+2 pts to each ingredient touching"
Reduced rarity to Rare
We wanted to give Spicy a clear identity of buffing ingredients they touch
Chili was picked 74% of the time, a whopping 10% more than the 2nd highest ingredient (Lime). We tend to avoid nerfing things just for being good but considering the other points and the fact this ingredient was so far ahead of others (the average being around 32% pick rate), it was an easy decision to rework it
Jalapeno
"+1x to touching ingredients, -5 per touching ingredient" changed to "+4 pts to touching ingredients, -2pts per touching ingredient"
Jalapeno's old ability has been given to the new Spicy pepper that Jalapeno unlocks because we feel it's more befitting of a Legendary ingredient
Category Collector (Helper)
"$0.25 per distinct tag on omelet" to "$0.25 per 2 distinct tags on omelet"
Using just 2-3 ingredients chefs were already getting $2+ every round, which felt far too strong for the amount of skill/thought needed. This should still be quite strong for chefs using diverse pantries
Corn Dog
Reduced rarity to Rare (it's a weird ingredient but not good enough to be Legendary)
New Baked icon (On Fire uses the old one)
New Fruit Crate visual
Root Crate renamed to Root Sack
Note: Our artist, Hjalte, was a lil extra busy so our programmer, Schu, did a few assets for this update. Hjalte has been gradually replacing the original assets that no longer meet our quality bar. So basically if you see any assets that look kinda mid that's my bad and Hjalte will fix it eventually :)
Fixed bug where sometimes Helpers didn't earn money when they should
Fixed bug where tooltips could be slightly offscreen for ingredients in bottom row of pantry
Fixed tutorial that said "Sir Peck-a-Lot" instead of "Sir Pecks-a-Lot". Put some respect on his name
Fixed 2 instances where UI said "Relic" instead of "Helper"
Welcome, chefs!
Cheese - the glue that holds together every great omelet. We've rebalanced existing cheeses and added 6 new ones to help ensure every omelet can be enhanced to its fullest extent. Maybe you'll create something extra cheesy?
Huh, someone left a couple uncommon veggies laying around. You might as well take them too, chef.
As for the helpers, there are 7 new ones! Many of these helpers will help enhance these new cheeses. One of them even unlocks the true potential of Moldy ingredients. Perhaps you'll try it with the new Blue Cheese?
I'll allow you to discover what they all do yourself, chef! That's all for this update, but the next update will be decided by YOU! Head over to our Discord where you can participate in a poll that will determine what our next update will include. This next one will probably take around 2 weeks this time, and afterwards we'll begin working on our 2nd Major Update: Endless Mode which will arrive in late September.
So what do you want to see, chef? More Seafood? Tiny, undetectable legumes? Sticky Ingredients? A new radius mechanic? Or maybe some Hot Spicy Fire?
Vote Now!
See you in a couple weeks, chefs!
-Chef Schu
8 new ingredients
6 new cheeses
2 new uncommon veggies
7 new helpers
Cheese Rebalanced
There's now a cheese for each Texture and Preparation tag, as well as some cheeses that enable Dairy-focused builds and more well rounded cheeses. Our goal with this update was to make it so chefs want to use a cheese or 2 in their builds, just like any omelet is better with cheese.
American Cheese buffs everything Processed
Cheddar buffs Soft gives points to touching Dairy ingredients
Havarti removed
Tags and rarities adjusted
Common cheeses now unlock more advanced cheeses
Swiss cheese uses Havarti graphic
New Goat Cheese graphic
New Brie graphic
Fired Helpers trigger themself first before being destroyed
Exotic Supplier now grants a legendary ingredient when fired
Severance Package can no longer be fired
Moldy Customers have 50% 40% chance of applying Moldy to ingredients
Moldy can't appear in first 2 rounds
We like that Moldy is a difficult trait and one that may require some planning to counter. Now you'll always have at least 2 rounds to prepare your pantry for Moldy and should have more dispenses that aren't full mold. We'll continue to monitor the difficulty.
Cucumber now unlocks Pickle, Goat Cheese unlocks Brie
You'll need to unlock both of these to play Scoochie Special again
Reworked colliders again to improve framerate (DJs should be better)
Fixed Grower/Shrinker customer traits (again)
Fixed bug where ingredients wouldn't pulse transparently when off omelet
Fixed bug where all outlines would highlight when hovering helpers from crate
Probably fixed bug where game could soft lock during scoring if ingredient was taken by conveyor belt at the start of scoring
If this happens to you, please send your \/AppData/LocalLow/SchuBoxGames/OmeletYouCook/Player.log to [email protected], or in our Discord. Thank you!
Welcome to the Moldy Mushroom Update, chefs!
Any great school cafeteria comes with a small chance of ingesting mold, so Principal Clucker has decided to unleash it upon Middlesville Cafeteria. Not only will Mold take away 3pts from infected ingredients, there's a 50/50 chance it'll spread whenever it touches an untarnished ingredient! Be careful, Mold can be found from many sources: customers, ingredients, and even some helpers!
To counteract this problem we've introduced 6 new mushrooms who tend to prefer keeping their distance.
Principal Clucker has recruited 4 new customers, all of which have a chance of turning ingredients moldy!
Lastly, there's a brand new Moldy Mushroom starter pantry alongside 3 relevant new helpers!
Aside from content, I want to highlight a few big quality of life changes:
(Settings) Target Framerate (so your computer doesn't try too hard)
(Settings) Ingredient Input Method (drag-drop vs click-drop, see details in patch notes)
New physics colliders
Improved tooltips (they don't go offscreen)
As always there's a bunch of bug fixes and what not detailed in the patch notes. We're excited for y'all to check out all this Mold and let us know what you think!
Keep cooking on,
Chef Schu
Added MOLD mechanic
-3 pts to ingredient, can spread to other ingredients on touch
6 new Fungi ingredients
4 new moldy customers
3 new helpers
New moldy starter pantry
Reworked Tooltips
They can no longer be offscreen
When hovering ingredients/helpers in your pantry there is a static tooltip that won't cover other ingredients/helpers in your pantry so you can see all synergies
Added icons for Aprons/Modes to show which combinations you've completed (same as pantries)
Added target framerate to settings
Added "Drag-Drop" vs "Click-Drop" input method option in settings
Drag-Drop is the original input method. Click-Drop changes it so when you click the ingredient it sticks to your cursor until you click again to place it. This should be a huge accessibility improvement for users who find it difficult to constantly hold down a mouse and for laptop trackpad input.
Adjusted rotation sensitivity, made it framerate independent
Added one-way rotation with right click while dragging
Changed "Fire Helper" button colors to be more accessible
Reworked all physics colliders
This was done to specifically solve an issue where the inner curve of ingredients (eggplant, chili, banana) didn't always collide properly. As a result all colliders should be more accurate. This is a big change so if you notice anything working in a way you wouldn't expect, please let us know!
Basic Bundle is now called Mystery Box (since it can be literally anything, not just the basics)
Squid wiggles even when off the omelet
"Mushroom" renamed to "Baby Bella Mushroom", unlocks Portabello Mushroom instead of Pickle
Pickle is currently unlocked from the start, but will be unlocked by something in the future
Pineapple is Soft (had no texture previously)
New art for crates: Mystery Box, Dairy Crate
New Dairy icon
Replaced Milk Jug with BBQ Sauce helper (+2 to Meats)
Renamed "Superstitious Supervisor" to "Lenny the Observant" (cuz he deserves a name)
Fixed bug where dollar/quarter indicators sometimes didn't appear when dragging ingredients
Fixed bug where large ingredients sometimes weren't large (for real this time)
Fixed bug where adjustment timer could block input
Fixed bug where rotating omelet could have ingredients snatched by conveyor belt
Fixed bug where duplicated Hater Helpers didn't retain their value
Fixed bug where pointing customers would point at Principal Clucker
Principal Clucker is displeased and has placed Mrs Gee Gee on probation
Fixed bug where gold ingredients wouldn't highlight in pantry when they should
Fixed Big Boss Bertha's sprite
Fools Gold no longer triggers while trashing
Fixed bug where there could be duplicate crates in starter pantries with more common crates
Fixed bug where "Take Random" tooltip said "ingredient" when taking a random helper
Fixed bug where Round tooltip was positioned weirdly + round text overlaps less often
Hello chefs!
We're super excited to introduce a bunch of new content for you today. First off, we've introduced a new way to score points — with ingredients that point!
You'll find this new mechanic used across 5 pointy new ingredients.
Plus 3 new customers who will point at part of the omelet that they'd prefer you leave empty!
And now for my personal favorite part of the update: 6 new helpers! Most of these play with the FIRING mechanic we introduced in the Artisan Update. I won't spoil too much but these are some of my favorite helpers we've added so far and I'm really excited to see what you chefs do with them!
We've also reworked the Scoochie Special starter pantry to include a fun new Mythic helper, buffed some underutilized helpers, and fixed a ton of the bugs you've been helping us find.
We're excited to see what y'all cook next!
-Chef Schu
New mechanic: pointing at ingredients
New customer trait: Pointer (-0.5x mult to ingredients pointed at)
5 new ingredients
3 new customers
6 new helpers
Ingredients that apply mult to self now say "-1x to self" instead of just "-1x"
Gold is displayed as a separate line-item on receipt
Scoochie Special starter pantry: Replaced Sous Chef Sharon helper with a new Mythic helper
Since nerfing Apple, this pantry became unfun and too rigid to play, especially since Sharon had anti-synergy with Apples. Now I think it'll be one of the most exciting pantries.
Steamed tag removed
We did this to improve gameplay balance. There were only 4 Steamed ingredients, and the associated helpers were some of the least taken. Most are now Baked, which had the 2nd fewest ingredients amongst the "baking method" tags. It will be easier for us to properly balance across the 3 tags now.
Removed Steampipe helper (+0.4x to Steamed ingredients)
Heated Historian now buffs Baked per Raw on omelet (instead of Steamed per Baked)
Root and Fruit Finesser: +2pts +4pts to each Root per 2 Fruit on omelet
Cheesy Meaty Meddler: +2pts +4pts to each Dairy per 2 Meat on omelet
Charcuterie Chef: +0.4x +0.2x to each Fruit per 2 1 Dairy on omelet
These 3 were some of the least picked helpers so we wanted to give them a minor buff. We'll monitor whether this makes them more viable or if they need additional tweaking
Donut: -0.2x +0.2x per Sweet on omelet
Idk why it was giving negative mult to Sweets. Did I do that on purpose? No idea. It should be more befitting of a Legendary ingredient now!
Adjusted how some ingredients are unlocked to fit with new ingredient unlocks
Spinach is Chewy (had no texture tag previously)
Watermelon is Sweet + Large, no longer Crunchy
Hot Dog and Banana are Large
Upscaled desktop icon
Updated art for Processing Factory helper
Better graphic for Firing helpers
Fixed bug where sometimes Large ingredients randomly lost Large tag
Fixed bug where Quick Restart could add a bunch of random ingredients to your pantry in round 1
Fixed bug where player could skip before trashable ingredients were finished dispensing
Probably fixed bug where ingredients could get stuck above conveyor while restocking
Probably fixed bug where customer receipt didn't always fully print
Fixed bug where locked crates could award more than 1 dispense
Fixed bug where Travel Trash Dog could trash ingredients during trashing phase
Fixed bug where Travel Trash Dog only trashed 1st ingredient in a round
Fixed bug where you could quickly buy 2 helpers, taking you over the helper limit
Fixed bug where trashable ingredients could be dragged after an ingredient was already trashed (they would remain on screen for the rest of eternity)
Discard resets properly at start of each round
Gold ingredients in catalogue now have Gold material
Hello chefs!
Omelet You Cook has been available in early access for just over 2 months and in that time we've had 1 major update, 5 pseudo-weekly content updates, and 17 other minor patches. Today, let's talk about what you can expect for the future of Omelet You Cook.
As you can see from Hjalte's lovely graphic, we've got a clear plan for the next major update which will introduce the highly requested Endless mode. Before then we'll have 4 pseudo-weekly content updates. I say pseudo because we don't have a fixed schedule for when they'll release and some may end up being closer to 2 weeks if I can't clutch up.
After Endless mode, the plan is a little less clear. We know that our 1.0 release will include the Black Apron and a final confrontation with Principal Clucker that will hopefully bring some closure to the students of Middlesville Cafeteria.
Between Endless and 1.0, we know we'll have at least 4 more content updates but likely many more! We'll leave this section of the roadmap (as well as the timing) flexible so we can continue to listen to you chefs and address highly requested features and content. If there's anything you really want to see before 1.0, let us know in the comments or over on our Discord!
As previously announced, the price of Omelet You Cook will increase slightly in a few days to reflect all the additional content and hard work we've put into the game. There will be another minor price increase sometime after the Endless mode update because that one will add a significant amount of replay value. So go tell your friends now is the cheapest you'll be able to buy Omelet You Cook for a long time while it's 20% off!
Lastly I want to take a moment to thank all of you chefs! Hjalte even let me draw the graphic this time :)
We now have over 300 reviews, and somehow they're still 100% positive!!! This is our proudest accomplishment, and I really can't believe we're maintaining it. Last I checked we were in the top 5 most reviewed games at 100% positive on all of Steam! We're so so grateful for every chef who's left a review. It really helps the game reach more people and the numbers are reflecting that! Speaking of numbers, we've now sold over 7,000 copies! Plus we have over 20,000 wishlists! Considering we had just 2,000 before launch, it's safe to say your reviews and recommendations to your friends (and NorthernLion) have helped catapult us to success! We're so excited to keep cooking and making this the weirdest, goofiest, most chaotic roguelike on the market. We're getting close to squashing the remaining bugs and we very much appreciate your patience and assistance while we track them all down. Big thank you to everyone who's bought the game, left a review, reported bugs, gave us feedback or suggestions, and chatted with us here or over on Discord! You chefs make making this game an absolute joy. <3 Thank you chefs! Keep cooking on, -Schu and Hjalte
Redesigned tutorial to steamline + mention Modes + added step teaching how to cycle between overlapped ingredients (mouse wheel, arrows, Q/E if you didn't know!)
Added skip option for Helper crate (in case you're at the max and don't like any)
Ignoring negative ingredient points for unlock purposes (so if you have a -20 Tin Can and +20 Tin Can, you'll still unlock the mystery ingredient)
Tweaked some tag icons and colors (and updated crates)
Fixed Mono Ingredient achievement
Fixed bug where you couldn't get "Complete X Starter Pantry with all Aprons" Achievements
Fixed watermelon collider
Radical Centrist properly updates when no longer on edge
Fixed bug where trophy wouldn't appear unless you also unlocked ingredients,
Can no longer use secret dev cheats (kinda surprised only 1 chef found them)
Shredded ingredients are properly discarded
The leftmost ingredient is guaranteed shredded by Travel Trash Dog (instead of the lowest)
Preventing soft lock when you have 0 ingredients at start of round (but you will lose)
Fixed bug where Apple didn't display score when 0 ingredients in pantry
Ingredients spawned on smaller/bigger omelets (Egg shells, chocolate coins) are the correct size
Hello chefs! We're happy to introduce the first major update for Omelet You Cook!
I'll start by tempering expectations by saying that we couldn't get quite as much content in as we planned, but we'll be returning to pseudo-weekly content updates to keep the kitchen stocked throughout the summer! (we've been busy moving to a new city, game jamming, and fixing the dozens of bugs you've helped us find)
The big change in this update is a reworked Apron system with full support for playing the game completely at your leisure with no time pressure. This update is for all you artisans out there who want to take your time and create a true masterpiece.
This means in addition to your Apron you'll select your Hat to determine whether you play turn-based or in real-time. The real-time mode is the intended experience but we know the time pressure really stresses out or makes the game inaccessible to some chefs, so we wanted to find a solution that lets everyone enjoy cooking.
As part of this change, we've introduced a limit on the number of Helpers you can have on higher difficulties. I think this will lead to some interesting decision making for top tier chefs (instead of just buying every Helper they see.) We intend to iterate on this Apron system further, and potentially add more Aprons once we see what's working and what needs work. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
We've finally given a fresh coat of paint to 2 of our screens. The first is the Omelet Selection screen, which looks way better and now shows little trophies for each starter pantry that you've won with the currently selected Hat/Apron. (that I forgot to include in this screenshot, whoops. You'll see it once you start winning, chef!)
The other screen is my personal favorite change of the update: The Catalogue. Not only does it look incredible but we've gone through and added stats to each of the Ingredients/Helpers/Customers and different visuals if you haven't unlocked or encountered them yet. It's also sorted by rarity so you can have a better idea of how likely you are to encounter everything.
We've also added 5 new ingredients and 14 new achievements for you to play with, and in the coming weeks we'll be adding even more Ingredients and Helpers to keep the game consistently fresh.
The last thing I want to mention is that the game is currently on sale for 20% off! To reflect all the content we've added since launch, we'll be increasing the price after the sale ends, so go tell your friends that the hottest cooking roguelike of the summer is the cheapest it'll be for a long time!
Thanks for cooking with us, chefs! If you have any questions about these changes please pop over to our Discord and we're happy to answer them!
Redesigned Apron System
Real Time/Turn Based chef hat selection
Max Helper limit on higher apron difficulties
Ability to FIRE unwanted Helpers for $1 (except Mythics)
Higher difficulties escalate in Target Score faster
New Catalogue Screen Art w/ stats and visuals for locked/unencountered entries
New Omelet Selection Screen Art
Trophies appear for each Starter Pantry that you've beaten with the selected Hat/Apron
Unencountered Final Customers are hidden
5 New Ingredients (Red Onion, Watermelon, Avocado, Jackfruit, Mystery Meat)
14 New Achievements
Added a Skip button to Legendary Helper choice
Added a Take Random button to Legendary Helper choice
New art for Helpers: Chew Toy, Cornucopia, Dog Treat
Oranges/Lemons/Limes are no longer buffed when discarded in shop while trashing
This was an unintended feature I left in because it seemed clever and I wanted to see how players would exploit it. But it led to extremely broken and repetitive gameplay
Minimalist can no longer appear in the first 3 rounds
It was often impossible, my bad
Trashy Embezzler: gives $1 per trash instead of $2
This was way more powerful than I realized and could pay for itself almost instantly
Bottom Feeder: gives $0.25 per distinct tag instead of every tag on the side
This was insanely broken. I don't know how I didn't realize but some chefs were generating $90+ on a single round with it
Beam of Midas: now Legendary instead of Rare, so it can only be chosen as a free reward
This better reflects how powerful it is in generating free money
Use X specific ingredient request is more forgiving
The number is chosen randomly between Max-1 and Max-3 different ingredients
Green Onion is a Vegetable
Squid is Chewy, no longer Soft
Removed "Herb" tag, all herbs are now Vegetables instead
There was only Parsley currently. I originally added the tag because I was worried there would be too many Vegetables. I don't want primary tags that only a handful of ingredients have.
Removed "Encased" tag, it didn't do anything
Ingredients trashed by Travel Trash Dog are properly removed from Discard
Quarters will no longer cover the dollar sign
Fixed bug where game could softlock if Wrench was trashed by Travel Trash Dog
Fixed bug where game could softlock if Chocolate Coin was trashed by Fools Gold
Preventing Squids from wiggling while off the omelet during scoring
Extended Discard hover area for widescreen monitors
Gold no longer appears above UI
Gold properly fades when off the omelet
Fixed bug where "Score X more than target" request would be checked at the start of a round
Fixed typos
Hello chefs! Just 4 days ago we celebrated hitting 100 reviews! Now thanks to you we're already at 200 positive reviews with no signs of slowing down!
More importantly, you've been extremely helpful reporting bugs and I'm happy to say all the reported game-crashing bugs are now fixed! (There's still 1 issue where Principal Clucker can stop speaking after you've completed your run. If this happens to you please send your Player.log located at \/AppData/LocalLow/SchuBoxGames/OmeletYouCook to [email protected] or our Discord)
Now I can stop worrying so much about bugs and get back to making content for our upcoming first major update! Check back August 7 to see what's new in the kitchen. Thank you for all your support and encouragement, chefs! Principal Clucker would be proud!
Love, Chef Schu
Bug Fixes
Fixed bug where game could softlock if Wrench was trashed by Travel Trash Dog
Fixed bug where game could softlock if Chocolate Coin was trashed by Fools Gold triggering
Fixed bug where game could softlock if squid was off the omelet and then moved back onto omelet during scoring
Fixed bug where spawned ingredients (Egg Shells, Chocolate Coins) couldn't be dragged once vs Superstitious customers
Fixed bug where aspect ratio wouldn't properly adjust to 16:9 on certain older monitors
Fixed bug where discard panel was offscreen on certain monitors
Fixed bug where discard panel was unhoverable during tutorial on widescreen monitors
Hey chefs, very minor quality of life update that hopefully resolves the last game-crashing bug.
Bug Fixes
Fixed critical bug where ingredients from discard would stop above the conveyor (I think)
This one is tricky to reproduce so let me know if you ever see it occur again!
Fixed bug where Dispense icons could get stuck in middle of screen
Fixed bug where mult arrows could stick around in shop screen
Fixed bug where ingredients spawned by customers (Egg Shells, Chocolate Coins) could remain
Fixed bug where ingredients on the right side of omelet could be added to the omelet that gets saved/served/eaten by Principal Clucker
Quality of Life
Changed Ascetic text to say "Ingredients worth earning $1+"
"Score X more than target score" customer request updates AFTER you surpass that score
Dispenses disabled by Minimalism no longer have an orange line behind them
Balance
Locked crates without a Dispense get a Dispense between shops
Previously players were punished for locking crates without a Dispense since it meant they would have 1 less Dispense available in the next shop
Green Apron + Classic Starter Pantry has a new boss: Teacher version of Jane Clucker
Previous Teacher (Lady Lana) had Egg Layer + Superstitious. Jane has Egg Layer + Child.
I made this change because this is the first boss chefs encounter while they're still learning the game. Superstitious requires the more complex strategy of adjusting ingredients with your dragged ingredient and can catch the player off guard.
