The day is finally here! OFFBEAT has just dropped and welcomes all you beat-makers and disc jockeys. So, dust off that tiger piano and get working. Your uncle's got a job for you to start with!
Unboxing the strange package from your uncle is only the beginning...
The EA release of OFFBEAT comprises of 7 different musical objects spread across 22 different jobs and two game chapters. You'll also be introduced to the upgrade system which allows you to upgrade all of your instruments once or twice (instrument dependant) further customising your setup in the process.
Upon first booting the game, you'll be introduced to our character customiser that allows you to choose an avatar along with a name for your record label and yourself. Players new to the world of music composition fret not! Checkout the handy notebook on your desk that not only keeps track of sounds you've generated but also has a lot of general musical advice that unlocks as you progress through the game.
We've also made a ton of improvements since the demo; a lot thanks to our wonderful community sharing their feedback with us!
And, of course, lest we forget: everything you make using OFFBEAT is YOURS. Go ahead: share it; publish it; put it in your own game; do whatever you want with your music. It's yours!
All your tracks get automatically saved up as WAV files on your PC.
Picking up OFFBEAT and leaving a review on the game is the most we could ever ask for.
However, if you'd like to support the ongoing development of the game with just a little bit more and get some neat goodies as thanks for that support, we're also offering OFFBEAT: The Oblique Edition.
Nice Cup of Tea - Inspired by Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies, the Nice Cup of Tea is a source of whimsical inspiration. Click it whenever it's steaming and see if it gives you an off-kilter idea to spice up whatever you're working on.
The Producer's Handbook - For those looking to delve a little deeper into musical theory and production methodologies, the Producer's Handbook brings together notes, ideas and strategies for composing and arranging more notable work. Please be aware that this is a digital asset you'll find in your game files upon purchase!
No game content is locked behind this edition. This is just a "Support the Devs" style bundle for those wanting to do so x
To celebrate the launch of OFFBEAT, we chummed up with four buddies in the music-rhythm gaming space to bring you unbeatable deals on some of the best games in this space.
Here they are!

Hello beat-makers and business buddies! Today we crossed another nice little wishlist milestone so thought we'd blow our trumpet a little bit.
30,000! 📣
What a beautiful number! 30,000 of you have now added the game to your wishlists, with nine days left until launch. But the crescendo is still building. The drop is going to be absolutely filthy.
If you haven't listened to Future Egg yet, go and wrap your ears around the latest release from OFFBEAT Radio...

How do you do fellow jobbing composers!
We thought you'd like to know that OFFBEAT is launching into Early Access on July 22. Yes, that's just little under three weeks from today!
And to celebrate, we've released a brand-new track from OFFBEAT Radio called 'Future Egg'. Check it out below!
The Early Access launch version will feature 7 different musical objects spread across two different chapters with more instruments, chapters, and features to be added throughout the Early Access period, culminating in the 1.0 launch in early 2027. Like in the demo, the early access launch will of course also feature the export function, allowing you to have WAV files of your tracks locally saved on your PC. And most importantly, you own the rights to everything you create in OFFBEAT. So, share it. Publish it. Do whatever you want!
Ok that's it for now. See you in three weeks x

Three days after our 10k milestone post, we've passed another!
OFFBEAT has now been wishlisted twenty-thousand times, which for our little game about making tunes with kids toys and garden gnomes, is wildly exciting.
Huge thanks to those of you that have spent time with the Demo (our median play time is nearly an hour, which is an equally exciting metric) - we've lost a non-trivial amount of dev-time to listening to all your tracks, watching your streams and generally seeing how you interact with the game. As a game that will be going into early access before too long, this dialogue between you and us is really key, and we're going to be continuing to pay close attention.
Ok that's it for now. As you were x

The first big wishlist miilestone has been hit!
Off the back of the new Next Fest Demo, OFFBEAT has now seen 10,000 wishlists, and not far off the same number of Demo activations. Music to our ears.
Thanks to everybody that has checked out the game so far. If you've made music you're proud of, we'd love to hear it.
We've created OFFBEAT Radio as a means of publishing and sharing the best music made by our players. As the game enters early access a little later this year, we'll be collating the best tracks and - with permission, of course - sharing these via our new record label.

More soon x
You've found us in the ocean of thousands Steam Next Fest demos. Was it the monkey? Was it the sound of the synthwaves just waiting to be surfed? Whatever it is, here you are!
OFFBEAT is part of Steam Next Fest this week. The first public demo gives you a taste of what the game will have to offer at Early Access, so setup your studio and pick up the phone - your uncle is calling. He's got a job for you!
We can't wait to hear what you create!
Check out our latest trailer for the game:
Make music. Make money. Build the studio of your dreams. Then export your music to .wav and share it with us on the Discord!
Enjoy the demo! We'll have more OFFBEAT news very soon!
You've got all this pent up creative energy, I can feel it. It needs an outlet. It needs to be birthed into the world.
Fear not. We got you. The first public Demo for OFFBEAT is here. And we can't wait to hear what you create.
Check out our brand new trailer for the game:
Make music. Make money. Build the studio of your dreams. Then export your music to .wav and share it with us - perhaps we'll then release it to the wider world (we set up Pantaloon Records to do exactly this).
Enjoy the demo. There is much more to come...
Hello! Ed from Whetstone Games here! We've lifted the lid! It's bloody off! We're excited to finally reveal OFFBEAT and give you a first look at the game.
In putting together this announcement, we needed to create some music for the announce trailer. The game is literally about making music, so naturally I wanted to make the track using the game itself. So I fired up OFFBEAT, plugged the Tiger-01 into a delay pedal, and got to work.
Anyway, long story short, Pantaloon liked it so much that they decided to release it! And that meant that our announce trailer morphed into the music video for our first single.
Here's Not Your Uncle's Ringtone. I'm very proud of it:
Listen on your favourite streaming platform.
It all demonstrates something integral to the game, though. OFFBEAT is a game that lets anybody create and export their own music, and then potentially have their work in the game published. We've created OFFBEAT Radio as a way to publish and distribute music created in the game, and celebrate the most notable work. So you, dear player, have every shot at a literal (albeit not major) record deal.
We'll have more to share with you very soon, including a Demo where you'll be able to play an early version of the game firsthand. Watch this space.
In the meantime, please pop the game onto your wishlist - this helps little old us immeasurably x
