Ocean Survivors news & patch notes

Hello everyone!

After roughly 20 months or almost two years of development and learning (holy, that went by fast) of what started as a university project and is now becoming my first release on Steam, I'm happy to announce that Ocean Survivors will be releasing on July 31, 2026! 

The game is currently content complete, unless I succumb to the couple of ideas I still have, I'll be working on finishing the game's final touches in terms of polish. I'm looking forward to you playing my game!

Oil up that wooden leg and get ready for some ship battles!

Hello everyone!

After taking longer than I expected, the final demo update is out!

The term "final" just means that no additional content currently is planned for the demo. If bugs were to surface, they would obviously still be dealt with.

What's New:

• Persistent ability unlocks through surviving

• Small amount of new abilities added

• Shipwrecks that surface around the map that provide additional upgrades and augmentations, aiding your run

• Your profile pic as the sail emblem

  • can be turned off in the gameplay settings

• Steam Cloud integration for cross-progression between PC and other hardware

Leaderboard:

The leaderboard has been cleared to ensure that all players have a fresh start for the top spot. Mainly because the shipwrecks have introduced factors that increase your efficiency in sinking ships, aka looting.

Hello everyone!

This demo update includes the following additions:

• Breakable crates containing items to help your run

• Increase in gold loot thanks to improvement in the ship's offenses and the introduction of crates

  • This affects the leaderboard due to the fact that higher scores can be reached

• Two new power-ups

• Additional graphical settings and gameplay settings

• Some visual updates

• Performance improvements on the Steam Deck

• More readable font

Regarding the final demo update:

The goal is to release the final update for the demo by the end of April.

Additional elements will be added that change the gameplay somewhat. I  intend to eliminate all entries from the leaderboard to guarantee that all players have a fresh start in their pursuit of the top spot on the demo leaderboard.

Newly Added Abilities

• Torpedo Cannonballs Launch gunpowder powered cannonballs towards enemy ships and attack them from below
• Air Strike Fire a barrage of cannons into the sky to wreck multiple enemies
• Mace A rotating mace attached to your ship to wreck other ships

Newly Added Power Ups

• Piercing Cannonballs Cannonballs that can pierce through enemies without losing momentum, allowing you to strike multiple ships at once
• Ramming Sink enemy ships by ramming your armored ship through them

Smaller Updates

• Pink Gem now pulls in everything, not only XP and loot Cheers, Aremji Games

• Enemy cannonballs are now color coded red for better visibility
• Sky Pirate hit detection has been reworked to be more efficient in sinking ships
• Various VFX have been added to increase visibility
• Trireme (charging enemy) has more health - Balancing
