You still can play from multiple computers without losing progress. From now on we will rely purely on our community for the growth and success of this game. Powered by Unreal Engine, these 'locations' are hosted on our server stack and can be targeted as part of mission or CTF events (Capture the flag). Hacking events can host a single player mission or collective missions. They can be part of storyline missions, bounty or open world. Some of the unique features you can expect in a hacking event:

• Persistent location that can be targeted with your Stinger OS
• Live 24h/7 coverage via Signal Intelligence tools and RTMP Camera Feed
• Reset every 4 hours, similar to a dungeon in some MMOs
• Each persistent location is also streamed in real-time on Twitch
• Ability for bystanders (twitch audience) to interact and affect the location

This event, which is currently in beta, will show up in your mission center on July 2nd. It will be a free event for all NT4 owners. Hack an entire city block, control security cameras, take down the power grid and deploy agents on the ground to infiltrate an air gap network.

Today, we are introducing a major experimental update to explore the potential of NITE Team 4 as a hacking MMO. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/27224498/6ae9a855bf99ef481b4dea8e3a46b0ec99dfda99.gif In the last year, we have established NT4 as a solid single-player and multiplayer game with hundreds of missions, hiveminds, bounties, etc… Today, we introduce a series of new features that are running on our persistent engine, the one behind many of our ARGs, including the Tender app from Paradox’s Bloodlines 2. Here is a short summary of the various features you will be able to experiment: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/27224498/5a9ec50beb76af3396c5d158c9a12950f2b0889f.png This new series of experimental mechanics are being introduced in the world of Sec-9, a new faction you will have the chance to discover in the upcoming months. Last week, many players have reported weird hacking missions being offered on the bounty board by an elusive group named Sec-9. Set in a dystopian world not far from a mix of Ghost in a Shell and Blade Runner, this group will drive you deep in the world of mercenary hacking groups, rogue states and shadow wars where hackers like you are, by far, the most lethal assets. WARNING: Sec-9 requires the Uplink-51 upgrade installed in your Goliath-7. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/27224498/af6bd14e7f4198dc839254d3d52774c11338589e.png Sec-9 is an opaque organization. To gain entry, a player from the community who already has access to the Sec-9 config file will need to copy it to your Stinger OS. Once you have it, simply open the file from your Localhost and Sec-9 will become a new contact in your Uplink51 module. You will also have the required permissions to share the file to another agent and help the mission propagate throughout the community. Agents do not need to be both online at the same time to share config files. You can ask for help in Discord and the Steam forums. We wanted to recreate the feeling of warez file sharing (May 2004) on IRC, for the older one who remembers those days... During the year, we will migrate our main authentication server and remove all user account creations. You are still going to be able to create or use your existing agent login nickname, but emails will not be used anymore. (No third party account anymore!) We will delete all your email login data, and we will also purge all IP addresses and filter them in the future. We will update our Terms and Agreement and our Privacy Policy to not only allow Cloaking and VPN technology, but even encourage them. Google Analytics and all other marketing tracking tools have already been removed from our site, and will be removed shortly from all our other touchpoints. We are shutting down our newsletter and will delete all account history and tracking data. We are reducing ingame playstream data to only gameplay and game mechanic optimisations by refactoring much of our code. Even in one of our earliest ARGs on Unfiction we were talking about having our own dedicated communication platform. The Black Watchmen series became our pride along with the ARGs we have had the privilege to create for our incredible clients (Paradox Interactive, White Wolf, Hello Games, Funcom...). It is important for our work to find better ways of staying in connection with you while being able to create puzzles spanning outside the game that blend digital and physical storytelling. In this alternate reality, the vulnerability report prepared by the G7 during the attack simulation has fallen into the wrong hands, and NT4 has to race against time to plug the leak before attackers can wreak havoc on the US economy. 7 new bounties will also be added to the current world drop. These bounties will give you the chance to infiltrate the infamous SureFire military arms dealer and collect really cool Goliath-7 upgrades along the way.

Every 60 seconds, a loot table will be rolled for everyone watching the stream. If you win, a notification will be displayed in the streamer’s Stinger OS, and the item will be added to your inventory. We have also added a nice reward for the host. If you are streaming NITE Team 4 on twitch with a minimum of 20 viewers, you will automatically gain an rare, epic or legendary upgrade after 15 minutes. Other rewards will also be earned after 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minutes. To be eligible, both streamer and spectators need to enable their twitch drop setting here: Twitch Drop Campaign. Our Discord Server now features a stream's channel where you can get alerts of any ongoing stream within the community. Watching a stream as a group can be fun and also rewarding. For this mission, the usual 3 parts will be released over the next 3 days. Members of the G7 are conducting a series of simulated cyber attacks against their own financial sectors in an effort to increase cyber-security and provide multi-national information sharing. NITE Team 4 is tasked to work in secret alongside the NSA and US Cyber Command to conduct the American tests. Here are the patch notes:

New features

• New Open World Mission G7 2019 Part One - Disinformation Sharing
• Added a new variable in the Social Engineering Toolkit configuration in the CMS/Hivemind Creator, letting you set the success rate of your SET attack. A visual indicator was also added in the game to let you know if you reach that threshold.

Bugfix

• Fixed a bug in the Open World that caused Xkeyscore entities to not be properly given when downloaded from the Open World menu.
• Fixed a bug that caused some players to not be able to click on the FAY Action Required button.
• Fixed a bug that allowed players to simultaneously drag a window will resizing another.
• Fixed a bug that caused Audio to not play at the start of the game for new players.
• The Notepad will now always be shown on top of the UI, even in the Open World and Bounties menus.
• Fixed a bug that caused the mouse cursor to stay in “resize mode” when quitting a module via keyboard shortcut

We’ve listened to you, the community, and implemented many of the suggestions that were heavily requested. We think these changes will make StingerOS more intuitive and enjoyable to use. Here are the patch notes :

New features

• It is now possible to resize Terminals and Image Viewer windows.
• The UI is more responsive and the elements on the top corners will now collapse when a module or terminal is near them. This was done to alleviate the UI depending on the needs of the player.
• Multi-Monitor Support (Beta) has been added to the game for up to 3 monitors. The feature requires that all monitors be on the same native resolution before starting the game in order to work properly.
• Drastically reduced loading time at the start of the game, allowing faster access to the Mission Center.
• Added an option allowing you to set the opacity for active and inactive windows.
• The Open World and Bounty missions have now been moved to the Mission Center interface, alongside the Academy and Story Mode. All of the game’s primary content can now be accessed in one area.
• Open World and Bounty missions will now unlock in tandem with Story Mode, after completing Basic Operations in the Academy. This is to allow a better game flow for new players.

Bugfix

• Fixed a bug that caused the level up from 2 to 3 to not properly trigger at the end of CastleIvy.
• Fixed a bug in the CMS that prevented players from accessing file browsers created in the legacy API.
• Fixed a bug that prevented the Open World mission objective to properly refresh when resetting the mission.
• Fixed a bug in Xkeyscore where a removed entity would still be considered in a search when it should have been removed entirely
• Fixed a bug that caused the Active Directory and File browsers to refresh automatically whenever a command was made in another workspace.
• Fixed an interface bug caused by having multiple Phone CID Backdoor modules opened on the same workspace.
• Fixed an issue that caused Xkeyscore to continue scanning after clicking on the Reset button.
• The input field for the Active Directory and FileBrowser is now much longer, to cover it’s perceived length.
• Fixed a bug that prevented the resolution setting to save properly

• The NITE Team 4 Demo is now back on the Steam page! It includes: Academy - Basic Ops, Chapter 1 of Operation CastleIvy, as well as access to the Hivemind
• The Open World missions will now display clearer objectives. Clicking on the objective button will also redirect you straight to the Open World Part you are currently in, instead of the Open World main interface
• Added an “Abort Training” button in the Academy, which acts the same way as the “Abort Chapter” function of the main missions, resetting your current certification.
• The Com Center has been removed as it was no longer in use, thus freeing up a previously used Workspace

Bugfix

• Added a drop down menu for the Resolution selection
• Fixed a bug that made it impossible to change or remove a file browser target host when an invalid address was entered
• Fixed a bug preventing players from opening TBW Archive images after they were saved to the CaseFile
• Important Domains found in an Xkeyscore document will now be added automatically to the Terminal autocompletes upon viewing the document
• Fixed some typos located in Open World briefing documents
• Phone CID Backdoor profile pictures had a visual upgrade
• Fixed a bug that caused the WMI Scanner to continue scanning even after using the cancel command
• Fixed an issue that caused problems with the Globe animation (Palatura Mode engaged)
• Slightly reduced the Glitch effect on the Hacknet Skin
• In Xkeyscore, the No Relation/Partial Relation pop up will now close automatically once a new selection has been made (It’s no longer necessary to manually click on the Close button to remove the pop up)
• Succeeding a Password Attack will no longer show a “Try Again” button, but rather a “Return” button
• Fixed a visual glitch that caused the Xkeyscore timer to briefly show 00:00:00 before counting down
• NotePad highlight is now more visible
• Fixed a bug that caused the UI to be interactive at the end of Royal Gate’s end cutscene when it should not have been

New Features!

• New Open World Campaign: April 2019 - Ransom Where.
• Custom tabs have been added to the NotePad module in order to store more information.
• The Unity Pop up will no longer appear when starting the game. You can now change your graphics resolution in the Settings Menu, under Graphics.

Bugfixes

• Added the mission briefing audio and images to the Asset Cache (you can store game assets on your hard drive by checking the “Preload Media Assets” option in the Settings menu, under General).
• The Hacknet and Uplink skins will now appear under the Featured Skins menu in Settings (Provided you have them unlocked).
• The Temporary Turbine C2 card timer will now start beeping at 30 seconds and increase in tempo as it reaches 0, to give better audio feedback on how much time is remaining to the connection.
• Removed the “frame” icons in the Image Viewer module, as it was obstructing the images.
• Some typos fixed in Xkeyscore documents.
• Aborting a Chapter will now correctly erase FoxAcid autofill information gathered from that chapter.
• Resetting the game during Operation Royal Gate will now properly remove the Andromeda Shell from the player’s StingerOS, as intended.
• Fixed a bug that caused Xkeyscore to stop responding after multiple uses.
• The music will now be quieter during dialogue segments.

We need to determine the nature of this threat and further investigate the ramifications of the ‘Honey Badger Project.’

Over time, mercenary organisations joined the network and it is now an underground cyber range, a virtual environment used for cyber-warfare training and technical development. It provides tools that help strengthen the stability, security and performance of cyberinfrastructures and IT systems used by government and military agencies. As a player, you can access this sandbox via the Hivemind icon at the bottom of your screen, (5th Icon). More than 63 Hiveminds are currently being built with a variety of difficulties and challenges. It’s a huge undertaking and we hope it will add a completely new playstyle to NITE Team 4. Player Created Servers can be rated based on fun, difficulty and content quality. You also have the average time it will take to break in. Introducing new bounty!

https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/27224498/bd73147e6d69728df55d70b7bb646048f759613a.gif The new bounty system gives you access to 10 bounties (normal, rare, and epic) from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the French General Directorate for External Security (DGSE). Every hour you have a 75% chance to receive a bounty mission of unknown rarity. Common bounties give you 60 minutes to complete the mission, but the more rare the bounty the less time you will have! When you successfully complete a rare bounty, you will be automatically granted a Epic bounty, each with a unique reward:

• Successfully completing the CSIS Epic bounty will grant the Phoenix Skin
• Successfully completing the DGSE Epic bounty will grant the Private Investigator avatar (50% chance of Light or Dark version)

The full bounty system will include hourly, daily and weekly drops from intelligence agencies across the globe. Bounties will also drop based on real-life timezones. So if it’s daytime in China, daily or weekly bounties from the Ministry of State Security will start to appear. Your reputation with some agencies will also unlock exclusive bounties and some secret questlines. • New filters in XKeyscore: You can now display only relevant entities to help you in your research. Filter entities by their tags : Alpha, Beta, Mission Center, Academy, or Open World.
• New Career screen: Available in the Agent Profile, you can now check your reputation and overall progression.
• Mission resets: You can now replay the Open World Campaign
• Steam achievements: New achievements have been added, including some secret achievements.
• Bounty improvements: You can now accept or decline a bounty. The bounty screen now also displays a countdown to the next bounty drop.
• New Skins: The Black Watchmen skin and Special Ops title will be granted to all players who have TBW in their Steam library. The new Ahnayro skin will be granted to all players who have Ahnayro in their Steam library.

Quality of life improvements:

• Dylan’s transcript in the Academy will now auto-scroll
• Current XP and XP to reach your next rank are now displayed onscreen
• Changed the input field placeholder in the Password Attack module to be more clear
• Improved navigation within the bounty system
• Completed bounties are now removed from your inventory
• The text of your current objective is now non-clickable to prevent UI elements overlapping
• You can now submit the answer to a bounty by typing Enter
• F.A.Y will now speak only once, the first time you launch a specific module. If you launch the same module again no voice will play. Next week we will introduce this as a toggled sound setting.
• Added a small delay before Dylan speaks when you complete a training in the Academy, so the success sound effect won’t overlap with Dylan’s voice
• Updated the quality settings, this will hopefully help players who are having issues with shaders in the satellite heatmap and agent profile
• Visual update of the Redeem section in the Agent Profile
• The mission center will now move you to the next active chapter when you finish a mission.
• A hard reset of the game will now erase your XKEYSCORE and Foxacid entities, and grant you the basic entity pack as if you were a new player.
• Minor visual improvements to the item rewards screen
• Visual fix of the animation when you unlock a new category in the Academy

(Bronze, Silver, and Gold) These levels are based on the speed and precision of your attack. For example, to identify potential entry points on an external network, OSINTSCAN should always be your first source for information gathering, since it is less noticeable than a SFUZZER dictionary attack on a DNS server. Next week, we will introduce our new Social Engineering Toolkit for mass mailing and spear phishing a target network.
