I hope you will enjoy your time documenting moths in nature! 🐛

There’s been a lot of work put into UX since the first demo release, so if you only experienced that version, you can look forward to a lot of small changes since I released the demo.

Expect more content, more polished gameplay, better stability, and improved accessibility.

But genereally the full game is not magically different from the demo and doesn't add any new game mechancis over time. So proceed with caution, if you didn't like the experience in the demo.

During playtesting it became clear that the game ended up being shorter than I originally planned. However, I'm very happy with the experience it offers, so instead of artificially stretching it, I decided to keep it short and focused, and simply set a lower price instead. Mothkeep will cost 5$ in the US and 5€ in Europe and has Steams price adjustments for other regions. I think that's a nice compromise! If your regional price feels wonky feel free to contact me via discord and I'll check if there was a mistake with the calculations.

Generally, if any questions or issues pop up, feel free to join the linked Discord. There I'll be the quickest to answer you. But please write in #general and do NOT DM me unsolicticed. Feel free to also share your screenshots there! I'm excited to see them! 😍

🦋 Lot of stability fixes troughout the whole code base. Hopefully fixed the random loading issue some people still experienced now. Thank you jelly for providing me these new logs!

🦋 There is now an option to reset all settings with one button

🦋 There is no more moth blinking happening when a moth flies away

Here's the demo update log:

🦋 Letters also received a hover indicator. This indicator will btw also tell you if you already recorded a moth stage or not, if you look closely!

🦋 Removed animation from bar indicator as the movement caused some confusions.

🦋 Added a new letter explaining that you should buy items in the shop and then place items in the levels.

🦋 If you discover a moth repeatedly the moth journal doesn't open up repetedly. Only for the first discovery of a stage.

🦋 Added a more prominent Settings button to the main menu. Some people didnt see it in the corner. But for those that enjoyed the consistency of it being there: I still kept it as a backup.

🦋 Moth Journal should not be stuck on a random page anymore when closing it too quickly. Also closing it too quickly shoudn't be possible at all. If the book is too slow for you there is btw also an option in the settings to adjust the speed.

🦋 Moth Journal Pages can now be flipped with buttons as well. This was previously an issue for people that played with only a track pad.

🦋 Hopefully now really fixed the random loading issue some people still experienced. This was based on a new log. Feel free to let me know if this update solved your issue!

I tried to focus on the most pressing issues & the most reported bugs in this update:

🦋 exchanged opened lock icon with '?' for more clarity

🦋 latin names are written in italics now

🦋 beech forest was renamed to mixed forest

🦋 *Cybosia mesomella* Larva reveived a different english description

🦋 Moth don't randomly spawn in the middle of the screen anymore

🦋 letter & settings don't overlap anymore

🦋 the getting closer indicator should not run out of bounds anymore

🦋 fixed an moth attractor exploit - now plants only spawn new moths once you reenter the level

🦋 V-Sync option was implemented - hopefully this will help those of you that had screen tear issues
