INCOMING TRANSMISSION
\
“Attention, all crew. Command has received and processed over 750 feedback forms since embarking on our current mission. We are thrilled that so many of you have participated in the feedback system and encourage you to continue to do so. Promised rewards are now incoming. More details available in the briefing below.”
Thanks to all of you for your continued support of Moros Protocol. Since launch, you’ve shown up with your feedback, reviews and overall love for the game, and we couldn’t be more grateful. With that said, we have a special message from our lead here at Pixel Reign, Nick.
“After launch, we were exhausted, but the constant feedback from the community was huge encouragement for us to keep working on the game. So we kept pushing in order to deliver the secret boss fights, fixes and new content for the game by Christmas. It was worth it as people seemed to enjoy the newly added content and the extra challenge.
Projects like these are really complicated, and as soon as you think you are done, there is always something else you find that needs tweaking. We keep getting great feedback and energy from the community, and it really helps with the grind and makes us feel all these years of work were totally worth it. We are definitely not done with Moros, and more things will come when we are ready for it.
We want to thank everyone for their continuous support and let them know that we try to read every piece of feedback, even if we don't engage with all of them.” AND ONE MORE THING
We couldn’t leave you empty-handed for such a great milestone as this. So as of right now, you can download a series of AWESOME Moros Protocol digital wallpapers from Wallpaper Engine, to make your desktop a little more worthy of Jocaste’s envy.
Make sure to join our official Discord server and follow Moros Protocol on X to hear the latest news and announcements first. See you in the stars 🌠

"Command is thrilled to announce that there have now been over 150,000 sign-ups to the protocol initiative. Darkphage activity aboard the vessel has increased exponentially, and standard containment measures are proving… insufficient. Effective immediately, the following has been authorized for deployment: THE CROWBAR.
Originally recovered during an unplanned containment breach at the Black Mesa Research Facility, this device has demonstrated remarkable utility in neutralising small structural hazards, forced entry scenarios and, incidentally, hostile organisms. Remember: the crowbar is your friend… unless it’s not. Then it’s still a crowbar. Your mission: survive the infestation, secure the ship and try not to break anything critical…
To celebrate the launch of this new tool, we are offering our lowest base game discount yet at 30% off, as part of Steam’s Winter Sale. We have also coordinated with the Black Mesa research facility staff to offer a bundle with an extra 10% off both games. This bundle will run for a limited time, so do purchase while you can. Play responsibly.
We’re also receiving reports of 3 new life forms aboard the Orpheus…
In Area 1, the Arachne. This zombie-like spider creature would give a headcrab a run for its money. Proceed with caution.
In Area 2, come face-to-face with the Decaying Nychosaur. In the words of the Black Mesa facility’s Security Bulletin #04-1997, investigate responsibly. Or destroy them. Your call.
And finally, in Area 3, the Sister of Carnage. This is one sibling you do not wish to pick a fight with. Remember: the Orpheus protects you from everything… except your own mistakes. Each miniboss requires a unique door unlocking method to access the room, so proceed slowly…
Plasma Arbalest.
FL9-Mod.
Heavy Siege Axe.
The Rising Blade (Undocumented gimmick: Forward dashing on heavy attack and increased range).
The Black Mesa Facility Crowbar (Undocumented gimmick: No damage from secret room doors).
You can now sell your augments on the Remix vendor.
New mystery augment (Requirement to open miniboss entrance).
Bonespitter Weapon damage buff.
Psionic blaster Weapon fire rate and damage buff.
Nano Ravid Weapon bullet cost reduced.
Secret Rooms rewards rebalanced.
Stat upgrade rewards (e.g., challenge rewards) now have a tooltip to inform about their upgrade.
Charging type ranged weapons now account for the fire rate properly.
Gunslinger Run-modifier - Allow melee weapon pickup.
Stop weapon loop sounds when entering cutscenes.
Fixed splitting bullets augment applying more than once on specific weapons.
Field medic augment - fixed UI not updating.
Placebo effect augment - fixed UI not updating.
Fixed augments getting stuck in an unusable state when trying to move them.
Fixed a bug where un-equipping an augment could bring your HP and max HP below 1.
Area 3 pathway collision fixes.
Fixed an issue where part of the wall was missing at the corner of the room if a pathway was spawned there.
Fixed some instances that led to the player falling off the map.
Fixed a room that would spawn enemies outside, creating a softlock.
Fixed a bug that stopped map generation bricking the run.
Fixed a bug where a player could get past a door while the other player was in the previous room (making them drop momentarily).
Blob Boss cutscene bug fix.
Cutscene's camera rotation fixes (all cutscenes).
Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash during dialogues/cutscenes when running on Windows with a Turkish locale.
Fixed the enemy Marauder's charge attack pushing the player out of the map.
Upgrades to menu controller support.
Fixed the map moving around with the mouse without clicking inside it.
Fixed a minor memory leak from the weapon UI.
Fixed multiple points of the game crashing during or after bosses.
Enemies that are considered "stuck" will now teleport away from the player when possible.
WARNING - Please start a fresh run after updating
There's a known issue where continuing a run causes equipped augments to disappear/change, and slots to glitch out. To avoid this, please start a fresh run. Alternatively, you can choose to use the “Revert” branch in Steam betas to continue and finish your current run. You will need to switch back to the default build after this run is completed.
Personnel are advised that a cross-facility communication event has been scheduled with the Black Mesa Research Facility. Participation is voluntary, though highly encouraged. So join us on Discord as we initiate a coordinated raid event with Black Mesa. During this operation, access keys for both Moros Protocol and Black Mesa will be distributed to select participants from Monday, 22nd December at 8 pm GMT.
“Free resources are still resources.” Black Mesa Logistics Memo.
Command will also authorize a live briefing and observational broadcast of Update 1.0.12. This session will include a real-time Q&A with Nick from Pixel Reign, during which new systems, tools, and containment measures will be demonstrated live. Keep an eye on our Discord for more information.
“Please remain calm. Questions are permitted. Panic is not.” Black Mesa Public Outreach Division.
We recommend that all personnel attend. Absence will not be recorded, but you may regret missing it.
You can also follow us on X for the latest memos from the Orpheus facility.

Anomalies aboard the Orpheus have stabilised, and Command has authorised new operational conditions for post-mission deployments featuring 12 new Run Modifiers available after beating the game and other changes below, alongside a limited 25% discount till November 17th.
Fixed a bug where vendor weapon prices did not match what the player paid.
Title screen FPS is now capped for improved system stability.
Minor translation adjustments in Korean and Turkish implemented by linguistics crew.
Command authorises the use of Run Modifiers; experimental parameters that reshape each subsequent mission.
Once active, modifiers cannot be turned off mid-run.
In Co-Op, modifiers apply to both operatives and are chosen by the host.
Please note - The following issue can happen where damage and fire rate numbers can change slightly when resuming a run. This may affect modifiers that change player statistics as we've seen with the following modifiers - Bloodcrazy, Brawler and Gunslinger. To fix this, simply exit and reload the run. Available Modifiers:
Scout: +30% movement speed, dodge disabled.
Tank: -35% damage taken, -20% movement speed, -30% dodge speed and +50% dodge stamina cost.
Bloodcrazy: HP shots heal for 20%, +5% damage after HP shot and +50% max stamina.
Rocketeer: Jetpack enabled, dodge disabled, -30% damage on ground and +30% mid-air damage.
Medic: -50% max HP and HP shots fill 100% faster.
Berserker: Melee-only, +30% melee damage, +50% max stamina, +10% melee life steal and weapon upgrade after each sector.
Brawler: -50% ranged damage, +100% melee damage and stamina disabled.
Weaponmaster: Start with lvl 1 ranged weapon, infinite ammo (no reload) and weapon upgrade after each sector.
Evolving: -50% max HP, -10% ranged & melee damage and choose upgrade after each sector.
Boomer: Stamina disabled, infinite ammo (no reload), -80% melee damage and -50% ranged damage.
Syphon: Damage -50%, gain +10% damage per kill (up to +300%) and resets on taking damage
Gunslinger: +100% pistol damage and can only equip pistols
The Run Modifier Update opens up a new layer of endgame customisation, turning each operation into a fresh tactical experiment. Choose your loadout, set your conditions and adapt to survive.
To celebrate this update, Moros Protocol is 25% off the base game from November 10th to 17th. A perfect time for new recruits to join the ranks, or for veterans to bring a co-op partner aboard.

Cleanup residual temp objects after Room generation.
Defer unloading of rooms to later frames to reduce performance dips during room culling.

“The red emergency strips barely light the corridor… but I can still hear it. Not footsteps... something else. Low, pulsing, almost like a heartbeat carried through the hull. Sometimes it fades, like it’s retreating. Other times, it swells until it’s right behind me… even when nothing’s there.
The others think I’m imagining it. Maybe I am. But there’s a rhythm to it… a pattern. Like the ship itself is trying to warn us… or mourn us.”
As we enter the final week before launch, we wanted to take a step back and reflect on the journey that got us here. Today’s dev diary is about something deceptively simple… but hugely important: how this game got its name.
For the long-time followers, you might remember that we first announced this project as Darkverse: Rogue, tying it to an earlier prototype of ours. But there were a few issues:
Too crowded: “Darkverse” already existed in other media (books, mobile games), making it harder to find us online.
Too familiar: The “:Rogue” subtitle made it sound like a sequel, when in reality we wanted to build something entirely new.
In short, it didn’t feel right. So… the hunt for a new name began.
Working with our publishing partner Super Rare Originals, we went through dozens of options (see the picture above of our workshop whiteboard). The core questions were:
What is this game really about at its heart?
How can the name reflect the lore and atmosphere of a lone ship adrift in space?
This eventually led us down a very Greek path.
Our team is based in Athens, and some of us are hopeless mythology nerds. It felt right to explore that heritage.
We started with ship names: Nyx, the goddess of night, caught our attention. From there, we dug into her connections - her children, her consort, her role in the primordial void.
Some contenders:
Primordial (already taken)
Erebus Rising (cool, but cliché and unavailable)
Then we stumbled upon Moros.
In Greek mythology, Moros is the personification of doom, the inescapable force driving all mortals toward their fate.
For a game with roots in intense metal music, chaotic combat, and cosmic dread, it was perfect. Doom meeting doom. The cycle of destruction written into a single name.
Moros on its own was strong, but we needed something that grounded it in the sci-fi setting. “Protocol” emerged naturally, it had already shown up in earlier brainstorming sessions, and thematically, it fit like a glove.
The ship could initiate the Moros Protocol, a last defense against inevitable annihilation and... doom.
And so it clicked: Moros Protocol.
A title that, for us, embodies both the lore and the feeling of the game; where doom itself is met head-on, resisted with every last ounce of strength.
Thanks for reading about how we named the game, we hope this gives a little bit more insight into our process and inspirations. We've very excited to be launching onto Steam next week, Thursday 18th September, and we hope to see you onboard the Orpheus, fighting your way through rooms of Darkphage!

"Something's wrong with the ship! … I’ve tried to figure out exactly what the problem is, but I’m struggling... I just need a little more time. These damn things, they’ve taken over and they’re EVERYWHERE!
I need to get into engineering. If I can then I can put The Orpheus back on the correct course, and we can get out of this system. I don’t know how much longer I can take the noises these things are making. I feel like I’m going mad!! … September 18th, I just need to make it to September 18th."

The launch of Moros Protocol has been rescheduled to September 18th, and will drop on Steam and GOG simultaneously. We know many of you have been standing by patiently, and we're grateful for the continuous support as we chart the course forward.
