Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth news & patch notes

We are celebrating games made and published by Norwegian game studios from May 11th to 18th!

The Steam event Games of Norway will be featuring Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth, along with some of our other games, Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley, Eggggg, and Mørkredd. It felt like the perfect opportunity to create a Hyper Games bundle so you can pick up all the games at a great price. Any games you already own are subtracted from the purchase price.

In addition, our melancholic puzzle-adventure game will be joining The Storyteller’s Festival which will also be featured on Steam from the 11th to the 18th. Here you can find games where stories take the front seat ✨

There has been very few issues reported, but we just pushed a fix for the 2 most urgent ones:

• The issue with soft lock after clearing the snow around the camp fire (Quest "Camping, the easy way") is fixed. If you got stuck there, you should be able to continue again now.

• Users with the Scarf & Mittens DLC can now also access this setting on Steam Deck

We are still working on a few other minor issues, such as some achievement problems.

Is Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth an official Moomin game?

Yes, we are working directly with Moomin Characters, and are a licensee. This means we are allowed to use characters and stories from Moomin, and everything we create needs to be approved by Moomin Characters.

We have worked with Moomin Characters for six years and it is honestly a wonderful collaboration! They have values that align perfectly with ours, and the community that we have been able to take part of has been so welcoming!

When can I buy the game?

It will be available to purchase on launch day April 27th at 7:00 pm CEST  / 10:00 am PDT  / 1:00 pm EDT and will have a 15% launch discount!

What will the game cost?

Regional pricing for the game will be available here on launch day! We recommend you check that!

Is my favorite character in the game?

We have shown several characters, but we will not confirm one way or another about characters that have not been shown before the launch of the game. We want to keep some surprises and you can check with us again some time after launch 💙

Can children play the game?

The game is text-only and no voice-over so for the youngest it might be best to play together, making it an experience close to reading a storybook. The content of the game fits any age, and is close to what you usually get from a Moomin story. Parents are always advised to research content given to their children.

Will the game come on other platforms?

We will look into more platforms after the initial launch and will announce it as soon as we have something to share! Being on our newsletter list guarantees you to get the information right to your inbox.

Will there be a physical edition of the game?

We are working on making this happen, but aren’t fully ready to announce it yet, so thank you for your patience while we work on it 🎁 There is a Japanese version announced, but we are getting another version available for more regions!

Why are you launching a winter game in spring?

Even though Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is set in winter, and Moomintroll is going on a full-blown winter adventure, his goal is to bring back spring 🌷So we thought it would be fitting!

What will happen to the demo here after launch?

The demo will be removed after launch so if you are curious about the game, jump on it now before it is gone!

Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!

Without the amazing work of Tove Jansson we would not be able to make Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth and we are celebrating her and the achievements of the other women that are part in making the game! Having women in all fields only helps to enrich what is being done or made and we are thankful for those that came before us and made it possible.

And did you know that yesterday, March 7th, marked the two year anniversary of the launch of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley? Time really flies and we are so thankful we get to make our second Moomin game with Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth. 

Have you tried the new demo that is out now? We launched a new demo for Steam Next Fest in February, but it is still available and we hope you have a great time joining the start of Moomintroll’s winter adventure. He definitely will face some challenges and we hope you’ll help him out 💙

On the same day, February 19th, a NEW DEMO of Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth will be available on Steam! We will be a part of Steam Next Fest starting February 23rd and we hope you will try the new demo as well!

Build a Moomin Snowman

Today we wanted to share something fun to do outside!

As you might have noticed through the trailers, in Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth, there is a lot of snow. Little My is fully embracing it, living her best life, but Moomintroll is a bit more hesitant. But you know what is really fun with snow? Building a snowman or some sort of snowfigure! So if there is any snow where you live as well, join our snowman building competition! We ask you to build your best Moomin world themed snowman and send us a photo or video of it. We will pick 3 winners. 

• First place will get a physical Nintendo Switch Collector’s Edition of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley. We will ship it to the winner, and the winner will need to cover any fees of receiving the package, like import taxes.

• Second place will get one digital key to the platform of your choice of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley - Digital Deluxe Edition. The platforms to choose between are Nintendo Switch, Steam (PC, Mac), PlayStation 5, and Xbox X|S.

• Third place will get one digital key to the platform of your choice of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley. The platforms to choose between are Nintendo Switch, Steam (PC, Mac), PlayStation 5, and Xbox X|S.

The team at Hyper Games will evaluate the submissions and pick winners based on creativity, and staying true to the Moomin world. To enter you must post your photo(s) or video on one or more of these social media platforms, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube (shorts or regular video), Twitter/X or Bluesky, and use the hashtag #moomintrollwinterswarmth. Content that will time out can not be accepted. Please submit the link of your post through this submission form, before February 25th, along with your contact information, so we can reach out if you win! Rules:

• It needs to be a character or characters from the Moomin universe

• The snowman needs to be built by you in real life

• The snowman needs to be clearly shown in the photos or video

• By submitting to the contest you allow us to share the photos or videos you submitted in our, Hyper Games, social media channels

• The content must not contain any violence or vulgarity

We're excited to announce that Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth, the highly anticipated follow up to Snufkin, will be playable for the first time ever with a public demo at Tokyo Game Show, taking place from September 25 - September 28, 2025. Fans can play a slice of the cozy, story-rich adventure at its booth in Hall 5: 05-N08 at the large Moominhouse. Can’t miss it! 

And for those looking to experience the beloved Snufkin universe for the first time,  Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley will be discounted on Steam for 40% off for a limited time during Tokyo Game Show.
